this fix it for me....if not put the files in the androidinstall.tar...and install the complete system

for upload i have zipped the complete tar...so unzip and untar....winrar do the job great for me...
Place the unzipped(and tar) system folder in the androidinstall.tar....you don´t need to untar this...only add in (maybe try alpha zip)

when i try to insert something in androindinstall.tar it says that can add files only in .rar and .zip
so i tryed to untar the installation file, but it give me an error...

Download a trial of alpha zip.....install it...double click on androidinstall.tar...and "drag and drop" the file in it.....go out from the tar...alpha zip automatic save the file

ok, now i try alpha zip
i installed it in the way written in that post (except the last update, but i think it's undependent)
i forgot to say that i'm using polaimage 20-02-10, cause with the last, wifi didn't work
i tyed with your suggest, but i have the same problem ><
edit: at the third reboot it works
can u tell me how install softwares from market in the SD card? and how can i set the standard unlock screen?

DZO already compiled module wlan.ko, that works with new .nbh and zImage.
Here is my Fix for polaris market and rosie restart...wifi works great with the drivers from the androidinstall.tar (original vilord) (Haret---nomorootfs)

Yes, a CAB would be nice
After install and run the HTC Audio Manager I become the error message
"Cannot find 'Audio Manager' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."
What I'm doing wrong? anyway if I install it on the SD Card and on the System occurs the same error.

It seems that there is something wrong with the .CAB because it didn't work for me either. But I have a solution . Unzip the .zip that I have attached anywhere on your device and run it. I hope that this will help.

If they are cab files just copy them to the phone and execute them.
that is what i have done but no progams in progarms screen the setup file in the cab downloads is an .xml file. Is it correct.

After many many tweaking and cooking ROMs for WinMo I want to do same with Android. The reason I cooked for WinMo was speed, but since it is not an issue with mine Desire(but it can be better I want to customize ROM a little bit, so remove some stuff and later maybe add few apps. If this want be a problem I will try to tweak too.
However in WinMo I have always have served kitchen, I just tweaked removed and add few things and job done but here there are no kitchens..yet(I hope somebody will sooner or later post it
So is there anybody who can help to set up kitchen so that I can cook few roms for me and this community?
So if I understanded correctly I need following to start cooking
android sdk
java jdk
signing tool
stock ROM
I have downloaded them all, extracted SDK in D:\HTC Desire\Android SDK, installed Java JDK in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java and I don't know what to do next?
Extract ROM, where(?), extract system.img which is in rom.zip if yes how and where?

Benko, you can extract the ROM anywhere you want. But, you don't want images. You should look at Pauls rootedupdate.zip as a starting point. Unzip that.

Ok extracted that rootedupdate.zip and found a lot of apks and obexes so after I delete those files that I dont want how to put that all back together to file that is flashable?
You'll have to resign the zip after removing stuff, otherwise it will give verification errors when trying to flash.
You need to remove the current certificates from the file, there are three files in the META-INF folder - delete those, but keep the update script (the COM folder inside), it's needed for flashing.

PS-beware of any dependencies between the various apk's and any framework modding that might be needed, otherwise you'll get more fc's than you can carry; I know I did
PS2- if you want a served kitchen, you'll find one over at Modaco, for a CyanogenMod port (a link is posted in a thread here) - see if that suits you're needs.
PS3- check out the Chef Central sticky here, too - it should be easier to get quicker/more accurate info from the seasoned cooks there

Rezip the folders: meta, system & boot.img.
Then resign them. You can then transfer it to sd and try to flash. If it doesn't boot, then you have to troubleshoot.
May I know that how to change layout of the home screen?
e.g. HTC sense has news/mail widget where first installed and booted.
Where can I change these settings?
Also , I want to know if I made my own rom, and updated to my desire.
If it doesn't boot or anything, can I updated the rootedupdate.zip from Paul to get the desire back working?

Hopefully. After a few hundred times you'll get the hang of it. ;P
If it boot loops, it won't boot. Try again. Always remember what you're adding and subtracting. Maybe start out with only a couple things.

Also there are some folders I not understand yet....

the kitchen signs the rom automatically. run the menu from terminal ( using linux) and u will see all the what the kitchen is doing.
do not try to compare custom roms ... they are different. some have extrafiles & folders depending on their customisations.
best thing is to compare with an original rom for the desire. and u see what has been added to get X and Y. involves a lot of trials and errors.

This rom is basically a Polaris port of the famous "Scoot CyanogenMod 7.1.0 RLS3 (Gingerbread 2.3.5) for Kaiser" Rom
It is a HARET build, but will eventually be for NAND and HARET

i use 7-zip portable to extract.
btw, i only extract the folder "Prisonking101 CM7 Polaris port"

I have try to install apks through the file explorer but only black screen pop out then back to the file explorer, seems the apk installer not work..
install a keyboard i used in froyo through update and the keyboard fc....
I unpack all the files in the "Andboot" directory but when I launch Haret I have the message "losetup: /dev/block/loop0: No such file or directory" "Failed" "Failed to mount".
Do I have to add an other file into the "Andboot" directory ?

For me it's work everything,after download,unpack and installing on sd 2gb,with latest zImage,initrd.lzma,haret and default.txt modified by me.BUT...when i'm connecting,on wi-fi or 3g,doesn't matter,open market,and after few scrolls and 2-3 minutes it's freezing.In fact,at start,checking "runing applications" i see 45mb used and 15mb free from ram?! Is it normal or i'm done something wrong?
