Accessing Network Drives and Resources - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I am having a hard time accessing shared drives on my file server. While connected via wifi (within my private network), using "File Explorer" I can use the goto option, but when I try by domain or IP it will say cannot connect to it.
I would like to have this option working. I am using the ROM listed in my sig.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!
Thanks,
Shaun

Browsing the LAN on the universal, how to!?!?!

Hi,
I need help on how to browse my home LAN. Weeks ago, with the previous rom, i was able to browse the LAN using total commander. Now that I've upgraded, i've tried in all the ways known to me, but never succeeded to.
I've tried using the File Explorer as explained in this tutorial, and it doesn't work: a balloon tip comes up saying that i "can't connect using the current settings" (i've already configured my gprs connection that works well with all other apps...wtf i need to configure then??)
I've tried using total commander, but here it says "error 53 while connecting" and then "error 0" ... The guy on TCce's support forum says that this means that the network path is not found, but it is not true.
I'm left to Resco file explorer, which i uninstalled some time ago coz i felt it was useless...
EDIT: Ok, i've isntalled Resco and it doesn't work! It finds my computer and shows its shares, but after having finished the procedure, the Network section doesn't show up at all! If I click on th enetwork shares button, the share i've just created is there, but clicking it, nothing happens!!!! I'M GONNA THROW MY UNI ON THE WALL!!
Please please please, help me solve without installing resco (even if I think that won't be a solution, too!)
and you didn't have to be connected in active sync when you were browsing the other computers? that's awesome! i have so much music to go through and i just do it upstairs! swwweeettt next on the to do list

Ummm what?
No i'm not connected to active sync... i don't understan what are you talking about...
i was able to connect to my networked computers with resco explorer 2005
Guys I've gotten this to work with the basic file explorer in wm6. The only problem I've found it that you can't open IP numbers but only the actual name of the computer I.e. your IP may be 192.168.0.6 but the computer name is Laptop1
If you "open path" from the menu \\Laptop1\ then it seems to work fine. hope this helps. I don't actually think you need resco. This work over wifi and actusync for me
yeah, that's what i discovered as well, but also resco is a much better file explorer, and from there you can just clock on netwrk/map drives, and blam!
it's pretty awesome.
Try this cab, it's Network Plugin for WM6 but i'm using this plugin in WM5 and work great http://www.4shared.com/file/28269154...5/NetPlug.html

I do it via Resco Explorer, it has this feature build in. You can easily browse the content of your PC this way.

i used to use this, but since i got my HD2, i've been using Resco Explorer too! it's fantastic!
Network HD2
I've now got Resco Explorer after seeing this thread but still have no idea how to go about setting up the network.
Step by step instructions please, anyone?
Many thanks in advance.
You don't need 3rd party software for this - you can do it with file explorer.
Open file explorer
Do Menu, Goto, Open path, New path
Enter the shared folder name
Click OK
It's then available from the dropdown at the top left where you can change from device to storage card and back.
Network HD2
Hmmm... tried that, all seemed to go well, then it said it "cannot connect to server due to settings". Even though i'm connected via wifi and can get online thru various other programs!
Tried getting the internet settings from o2 UK and their website "cannot connect to this service at the moment" !
I think someone is trying to tell me not to do this!!

android phone as a network drive?

Hi
I was wondering if its possible to map your phone as a network drive, i know you can do this vice versa with ES File manager but i was wondering if you could access your phone over a local network?
bump bump bump
Im not exactly sure what your after but is the 'websharing' app of any use?

thanks! that seems like what i wanted more or less, although it looks like you cant actually map it as a network drive, I just wanted a way to access the phones memory over wifi using windows explorer.
wifi file explorer may do the trick...
Ive tried wifi file explorer.. works wel! Im sure websharing is a slight step up with additional features and you can view using explorer window..?

I saw that this was an old post but I though i would answer anyway if you havn't found what you were looking for ^_^
Samba Filesharing adds your sdcard as a removeable drive in "Computer"
use "File Expert"
its free and have all the features, you are looking for ..
Samba Filesharing
As said earlier: You should look for Samba Filesharing (i found it somewehere on XDA, but not in X10 subforums). It does exactly what you're asking.
I'm using it alot. When at home, i simply enable wifi, which triggers Sambafilesharing to be enabled as well. Then, from PC i have a mapped networkdrive to \\android\sdcard.
On X10 the user and password can be changed.
It takes the IP adres from Wifi, if you map a network drive, then you may want to use static ip.
[Edit]
fileExpert is the other way round. You can acces samba shares with your phone. But TS wants to access phone as a drive.
That's it. Real handy. Good luck!

[Q] Music file transfer without mounting SD?

is there anything out there using the same technology as
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628138
that enable file transfer to the device with having to mount and unmount the SD?
Ive been looking for some sort of music managing app? but I haven't found anything like this.
If you have a wifi connection, you can easily estabilish the FTP connection between phone and your PC/Mac by using SwifTP server in Android device - works great with like 800kb/s transfer.
the technology is adb...
you could setup an ssh/ftp/smb server on the phone
I have toyed around with FTP and SMB connections and they are fine foe single files but for managing media they can be very manual.
Hmm, I am ueing the ftp connwction very often with Windows Commander as a client. Worked great.

SwiFTP and NetDrive (netdrive.net sorry, I'm not allowed to post URL's. )
This allows you to map your SD card as a network drive in windows explorer. You just have to start the SwiFTP service on the phone each time you want to manage files (and keep the small netdrive service running on your computer). Other than that, it's just drag and drop like any attached hard drive.
Why? Use Android Commander or QtAdb

Because I don't always like to go find my cable and deal with the flaky USB port to transfer files.
Although QtAdb looks interesting...
What's wrong with DropBox?
www dot dropbox dot com
Yeah, no posting URLs for me, either.
You can get up to 10 GB of storage free there.
It's best if you get a referral from someone to sign up, that way you start with an extra 250 MB over the stock 2 GB they give you.
PM me if you care to, and I'll refer you.
You can also check out DoubleTwist for managing media. I believe they are working over WiFi now.

{REQ} File transfer via WiFi Android to Android

HI Guys .
I am looking for an app for android that can transfer files between android phones using WiFi.
As at work we some times need to transfer large files between phones. Bluetooth is too slow and it is a pain connecting the phone to a PC uploading the file then downloading the file to new phone.
Any ideas on this would be great. As this would save masses of amounts of time. Also it would need to be a direct transfer between phones as we have no router to connect to at work.
Thanks in advance
Jonathan
File expert has the option to share a file via wifi when you long press on a file. I can't test this phone to phone as I only have one Android handset here at the moment. Give it a try.

you can use "Wi-fi Cast Lite" from lgworld or Try "IP Messenger" from Android Market.
or maybe use dropbox ?
This is the way i do it ...
Use wiFi File Transfer from the Market.

Well, I think the simple is better. So why don't use FTP? As its name says is a File Transfer Protocol
I do use FTPServer, then if you're in Windows, you can use "Filezilla" as client. Maybe, you could thinks is much _effort_. But it's worth it.
Regards~
So far, the best and easiest app existing is fast file transfer -

Download and usage instruction can also be read here-
