I was wondering where the file(s) is to edit the highlight color, as seen in the Sense UI as green, and the normal roms orange.
It would be greatly appreciated.

in Launcher (or Launcher2.apk) I forget what its called something like "select highlight.9.png" or something...it's rather obvious when you see it though.
i think its in launcher2.apk its called pressed_application_background.9.png
Thank you two, I managed to find it with your help.
1)There is a highlight_selected.9.png is in framework-res\res\drawable-hdpi and I expected it to change the orange background for widgets...but it didnt do anything (focused_application_background.9.png in the same folder didnt work either).
Any other suggestions?
2)pressed_application_background.9.png is for normal icons and is at Launcher[2]\res\drawable

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get the red highlights on Dusk's taskbar?
Looks good.
Try this
http://www.mightyrom.com/2010/02/18/lil-ricos-slappahoe-red-theme/
I use the Blue theme and it's great 'cause it changed everything blue, so I suspect the red will be the same. Caution though, this may use the standard enhanced menu vs the shortened enhanced menu, this depends on what the ROM chef you use has loaded. What happens is that file manager and other window non-manilla wm programs the menu will not match up. To fix this copy your htcmenu.png file and save it, when you install the "red theme" if you have trouble copy your saved file back. The HTCmenu.png file is in the \windows sub-dir on your device.
I learned this the hard, hard way and spent hours and hours and hours figuring this out.

gonna give this a bump.
Me and another dude are working on a few themes, but we cant find the xml to change key color to white. I will PAY someone if they can find it.
not having white keys are limiting the possibilities. we still have a few versions in progress though

I'm browsing through the apk right now, and there are a LOT of .xml files, what would it be called on any other keyboard (if you know) or what line of code would i be looking for exactly? im pretty much just looking for the HEX of 00000 or FFFFF not sure which one is black
is is definitly not in the xml as a hex color. 000000 is black ffffff is white.
last week i changed all instances of 000000 to ffffff and it didnt change it. also in the aramibi folder changed the .so file. changed "000000ff" (found twice) to "ffffffff" still no go.
However, messing with my theme i just noticed something. After messing with images i realized something and verified this by changing the background.png to full transparent. once i applied this change the full background is black.
there is something in the xml's that call for a dark background. Im going back through the xmls now. Hope this will help find the string.
I think that this is too much for me, maybe if I knew more about what I was looking for. I'm used to doing this kind of stuff for iOS .plist files and strings...maybe after I get used to android and .xml files I can be more useful. I'll keep looking around though.
does anyone know of, or if it exists at all, a color change for the stock HD2 keyboard overlays (the green on the stock keyboard)? i have seen the elgancia themes, but i was hoping for just a stock looking kb with just the green replaced with say red. thanks in advance

I can do that for you.
To do this Im going to need a few files from your phone.
Well.... more like 30 files lol
There isnt just a way to overlay the colors, all the images in the keyboards that contain green need to be changed to red.
As it so happned Im looking for someone with an hd2 so that I can make a new skin set compatable for the hd2.
If you dont mind pulling the files I need, I can skin your files for you in as little as a few hours.
PM me if your interested
Hey Friends,
I've mixed up a theme with the classic Gingerbread Icons (exept the battery).
This theme is made on the base of the "Meizu Dark theme" from natious (you will see some colors and impressions of this)
so thanks a lot.
Sorry, the screenshots are a little crap
Update:
Now I use the Installation file from Meizu Dark with the most of natious themed apks. It shut be complett. My sugestion is replace the bootanimation with the "Particel ring" and flash the themed calendar.apk from sohrab1985. Looks great.
If you don't like the Battery, you can change it with the UOT Kitchen
New Version:
add providersettings.apk from meizu Dark
add calculator.apk from meizu Dark
add settings.apk
add swipe.apk from meizu Dark
add mms.apk from meizu Dark
add contacts.apk from meizu Dark
add a few fonts from meizu Dark
Download:

Have fun and keep it simple
Please, tell me if there any problems.
look great... testing now.

Fab I like it a lot. This'll stay installed for a while. Any chance of sticking a percentage in the battery icon?!

Use UTO kitchen to change the battery. Just go to the page, make your choise and upload the systemUI.apk (root/system/app) and the framework-res.apk (root/system/framework). UTO Kitchen works not at every option but for change the Battery does it work.
my Tab fights with Kratos
This is a great theme, thanks a lot for sharing! But I have a quick question:
Is there is a very plain and basic 100% Stock Gingerbread Theme for KRATOS?... just the 100% stock mostly BLACK (which saves battery) along with orange highlights that comes straight from Google... nothing else or modified just stock, no more no less!
Thanks for the advice.

I can try it at the Weekend but I can not do any promise. If you have other wishes or suggestions, tell me. Maybe you like 6 Bottens in the quick setting bar for example.
Btw: I'm just a expirienced user so I have no special skills to do this. I also have no original GB Themed device so I don't know how the Stock theme looks exactly but I'll do my best.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am not sure which the Quick Settings button is that you refer but its OK, the only thing basically I would like is to strip out all customizations that Samsung and the KRATOS chef did, and have a lean and plain stock Gingerbread like Ive seen n most phones. Its a pure battery-saving theme with most screens using black background and highlighted items are orange. If you can look at a few standard phones with Gingerbread in it they will all look the same kind of like this. It is actually the most simple and cleanest interface.
Anyway, thank you VERY MUCH for your interest and effort and I look forward when you have time to try it and give you feedback. I know many other members and users of the galaxy tab would appreciate having a stock Android look on their machine that has been impossible because of the changes Samsung made to their ROMs.
Danke noch einmal
Icon Resource for theme..
Hi guys! Im making a theme for Kratos and am stuck. Can someone help and tell me WHERE the icon (below attached) that pops up on the task bar during Media Scanning, is hidden? I looked everywhere, all system APKs I can think of including framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and cannot find it anywhere. Its driving me crazy!
Thanks in advance for the tip!

HELP with some elements
Its been a while I posted on this great thread and have since then done a lot of customization on my Tab but now stuck on 5 key elements id like to know if someone can help me:
1) How do I change the background color of the Phone App? On all 5 tabs of he phone app (Dialer, Logs, Contacts, Groups, Favorites + the outgoing dialing screen itself) the background is White. I want it changed to black but dont seem to locate the file. I was successful in changing the background color to black on the incoming call screen (the files are call_incoming_bg.png and call_incoming_bg_h.png on the phone.apk and just made them black and that's it)... looks super nice. But for the outgoing calls screen and phone app itself, its all still white and I dont know where to edit or if there is a PNG file that control the background.. I dont seem to know where it is (see attachments 1 & 2)
2) I wanted to change the Missed Call icon with a custom I made that I already and use on the top taskbar, that was very easy (its the stat_notify_missed_call.png in framework-res.apk). But the same icon that's displayed in the phone's Log tab I dont seem to locate where it is and to my surprise its NOT in the phone.apk. Can someone tell me where that file is? (see attachment 3)
3) I have managed to successfully tweak many of the elements of the notification pull down menu, like giving it transparency in certain parts on bottom and top, but I cant control color or transparency of the background of the ONGOING operations that have a fixed white background and that id like to change. (see attachment 3) Equally, Id like to change the color and some of the wordings of the WIFI, BLUETOOTH, GPS, SILENT, ORIENTATION LOCK functions. Where can I edit those?
4) Where can I edit the white background color of the pop-up Power-Off menu on the tab that is white (see attachment 5)? I edited the icons easily from the framework-res.apk but dont seem to know what controls the background color..
5) Finally, which files control the blues that usually are displayed in most dialog pop-ups and dialogues? I want to change them to black and grey but have no idea where they are located and which files I should edit.
When Im all done Ill post my theme for download, I think maybe some users might like to give it a try and feedback will be welcome wither way
In advance, thanks a lot for your expert advice on all this
I've been doing a lot of work with systemUI mods, and the one thing I haven't been able to change is the clock? Someone help?

The clock font can be changed with Font Installer from the market. Once you download it and browse the fonts you go into the menu, then Preferences, then Select Fonts, and check all the AndroidClock*.ttf boxes while unchecking any others. Keep track of which ones you uncheck if you want to go back and change your other system fonts in the future.
As for the color, I had to get the right ROM to do that. Some don't have the option. I'm on twa_priv's SGT7 build with red home/back buttons + digital clock. It's pretty sweet.
Edit: And hey, you said you've done SystemUI modding, which I'm currently tinkering with. I noticed while sifting through the apk there were several gradients fading up from a light to dark grey, and I figured those were the images for the left panel of the settings menu, which I wouldn't mind customizing a little Quick question: Which one of those files is the right one? Looks like there's several folders organized by resolution. I'm at 160dpi and I can't remember if that's mdpi, hdpi or what. Thanks.

No problem. I'm always digging around in there just to try and see which pieces go to which parts of the interface (I wonder if anyone's made a map like I found for Windows?). I got lost in the same stuff modding Windows 7 themes--pretty much the exact same procedure with res folders and everything. Another question: the "actual background" you mentioned in the framework-res.apk: Can you give me the path to that in the apk?
