Need help with music on TP2 - General Questions and Answers

I guess I'll just post this, then do a double-post and tell you the problem, because the site isn't letting me post anything.
EDIT: I'm tired of windows media player half-assing all of my music, and stopping the syncing at 23% (I have a micro-sd card that's well big enough to hold what I'm putting on it, so space isn't the problem.) Can anyone recommend another program to sync my music with? (I don't want to do it manually, too much music to do it.)

I use iTunes (I know, right?) to manage my music on my pc. first I fix the id2 tags using mp3tag v2.6a from http://www.mp2tag.de (great program that will let you fix your tags and download album information from several sites on the internet and change the file names based on the tags and the tags based on the file names (use it and you'll see what i mean). then i add the music to iTunes that then finds all the album art automatically.
after that, i use a little program called iTunes agent from here http://ita.sourceforge.net/docs.html, to sync the music directly to a folder on the storage card (you can either take the storage card out and use a usb adaptor to connect it to your pc or you can set the phone to connect to the pc in disk mode, it doesn't work when connected for active sync)
the way it works, you create a playlist in iTunes and create a device in iTunes Agent with the same name as the play list, and add your music to that play list and itunes Agent will syncronize the play list to the folder you selected on your storage card when you setup the device. you can setup multiple devices too...
i hope this helps.

I just read an article about double Twist for music syncing.

I'm not comfortable with a program that connects to the internet and shares my information, but then again, that's just me.

WMP10 PLAYLISTS / SYNCING / BOOKMARKS AAARRGGHHHHHH!!!!!
 Sorry people but I'm F*%@!ng! fuming over this. The reason I like Winamp is becuase you hear something you like and all you do is "Add to Bookmarks", couldn't be simpler, and easy to copy and backup and replace, I wonder if Pocket Music is this simple? probably.
BUT WMP10 what a frikin knightmare!. I've tried the Windows Media Player 10 Mobile help sights, tried some of the SYNCING things, it did sync 29 things??? but still hasnt transfered My Playlists looking in the WMP Library on the XDA. SO in frustration I copy "My Playlists" from My Docs on my main PC to my PocketPC's Docs AND Storage Card to a folder called My Playlists, I Open WMP10 on the XDA, then using File Explorer in XDA to find the My Playlists then try to open them that way, oh no of course it isn't going to frikin work is it!! Playlists for WMP aren't associated with WMP10 eh!??? WTF!!! Why can't they make it simpler!!!??? AND I cant "FIND or SEARCH" the "My Playlist Folder" associated with WMP10 in my XDA, for the life of me someone please help me out.. sorry for the rant but I cant be the only one having this problem.
Welcome to M$ !!!
They way I use it:
- Check that all your music is in the WM10 library on your PC.
- You need to have all the playlists you want to sync in WM10 on your PC.
- WM10 (again the PC side) has a "sync" tab, which you need to use for synching to get your playlists to your PocketPC. Check the playlists you want to sync in the sync settings, hit "sync"
- You're done!
If you are using another music player and DON'T want to use WM10, you're out of luck....
Please excuse my noobness.

ok I just went to the Library and found My Playlists with the Radio Stations I like, clicked on Sync, found the folder on My pocketpc to send to, picked one and ticked it on the PC side, highlighted it, hit the green Start Sync button.. ERROR the player may not support the file... tryed a few more , same thing.. please excuse my noobness, I like to stream radio stations off the net, How do I "Add Bookmark" as it were into my own folder say My Playlists? I was able in version 9 but not 10 it seems. i'll keep trying, and thanks I'm getting closer.
Went into Sync settings
Went into Sync settings, ticked all the radio playlists, found My Playlists in My Documents on pocketpc & storagecard..
ERROR the player may not support the file...
tried a few more , same thing.. I made sure the player wasnt playing at the time, I have had no problem with active sync so far its the latest version, firewall is ok in program controls, and it's a very recent ROM, I have been able to stream 32kbps streams using a neighbors wifi connection but can't even manualy drag drop some playlists.
I feel your pain. I gave up on the sync thing with Windows Media player. It never worked right.
Been using Yahoo's music service and it works as advertised. Click sync and your done...no playlists though & it costs money. Still, good audio quality and its easy.
Thanks inbox7
Thanks inbox7, I am using www.radiofeeds.co.uk for UK radio listening links.
Also one work around (can't believe I just said that Microshaft!) I am saving the .asx links as Favourites. works anyway.
Slightly off topic, has anyone reading this managed to stream an MP3 stream using there XDA and a WIFI connection?, What is the maximum bitrate you achieved? I'll start a thread on this unless you can point me to one.
cheers all choppidge.
Im trying the WMP10 sync now.... 20% complete.... keeping my fingers crossed that itll work without a snitch... thanks!
Im done syncing two playlists.. took a while to complete but when I checked my universal, couldnt see the playlists there... What did i do wrong?
I synced WM10 to save the Playlists to the storage device but couldnt find anything anywhere. My Playlist folder just shows Now Playing.. help! thanks!

Transferring Music to TP

Is there ANY other program you can use to sync songs to a TP besides WMP? I've been using WMP, but it keeps on making random duplicates of all my songs, and it's REALLY annoying.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Oh and I don't want to just drag+drop, I would like some sort of program.
Thanks.
i agree i moved from a iphone and i got to say its annoying, the way windows mobile phones organize music, and when i use windows media player mobile to update my library it seaches the entire device and grabs even system sounds.
Hmm, I just put my microsd card into my computer and dump all the music I want to listen to (mp3, flak, ogg, what ever) into the music folder to play with the built in player / core player.

How is drag and drop ANY more difficult than a program?

Well at least with WMP I can see my music in a "library" setup, as opposed to just opening my music folder which has thousands upon thousands of subfolders. It's just much easier for me (at least the way my music folder is setup) to use a program such as WMP.... but WMP sucks. That is why I am asking for an alternative to WMP.

Thats exactly what I do and it works like a charm. It is easier than using a program in my opinion. Are you doing something wrong? is it giving you trouble moving the files to the microSD card?
When I start Winamp and have my phone plugged in, it detects it and asks if I want to use it to manage my music on the phone. Winamp has a great name out there, maybe it oculd be useful.
I also used Yahoo Music Engine at once point and that worked great, like itunes. I think that whole deal is still around too, albeit Yahoo music has changed a bit, the app was called Yahoo Music Engine.
I have not tried sync with WM11. There must be a simple option or something you are missing. Perhaps it has to do with Media Player on WM6 and the library function. If you scan the device and organize the library to ignore your Windows folder then it probably won't be a problem on the WM11 side.
Does that make any sense?
WM11 is simple drag and drop; the problem is that when it loads music onto your Phone/SD card it puts it into the file structure Artist/Album/Track based off id3 tags. So if your music is improperly tagged or if you have more than one copy of a song like an album and a compilation album you'll end up with duplicates.
Personally I just wipe out the Music folder on my SD card every 2 weeks or so and dump a new playlist onto it. You can use the WMP sort function in the playlist to eliminate any duplicates before you copy them over. You can still add to the card later and it won't reinstall the same file so long as it's not a duplicate on your desktop like I mentioned above.
As for getting rid of ringtones showing up in your library on your phone I use Pocket Player for my MP3 player and it has an "Exclude Directory" option on it so it will only update from the SD card music folder.
Did Wm4 or CE or whatever handle music?
So that whole development time while WM5 was on market and ipod appeared, was MS just sitting there saying, "Well these are business devices let's focus on getting four Excel cells to show up on this ****tay 320x240 screen instead"
Great.
And the even funier part is the new Blackberry virtualization occurring over WM6. If they were so good at business apps then why is this occurring, HELP ME UNDERSTAND hahahhaha
This was all tongue in cheek utterance from a bewildered fan of MS and their spastic roll outs!!!!!

Music Synchronization

Is there a way for all music in Play Music to be automatically selected for offline listening?
What I want is a way to copy music files to my SD card automatically without plugging it into my computer. In my perfect world, when I get one new song (on my computer), I want it to just put it in the My Music folder (on my computer) and have it sync to a Music folder on my devices Ext SD card the next time my device has a data connection. After that, Play Music (or whatever media player I'm using) would just see it as a new file and import it into my Library. If I have to open an app or push a "sync" button that's fine, but I would prefer it be automatic.
Something like Google Drive would work great if I could just assign folders to sync rather than having a "Google Drive" folder and only syncing what is in there. And "cloud storage" is not completely necessary, just store it in the cloud long enough to sync to my other devices.
Google music already automatically imports music from My Music (on my PC), it would be perfect if it automatically made all that music available offline on my phone and tablet.
Is there any app or solution that would help me?
I am often in areas where there is no data connection, so the internet streaming that Play Music offers is not quite enough for me.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

[Q] Way to sync music with Copy? (Dropsync for Copy)

Let me mention this first. I do NOT want to use google play music cloud service. I like the music directly on my device, and on my computer as well.
I have a large library of music, and managing it with my phone is some what of a hassle. I prefer to use itunes because out of all the music players I try, I find that it functions well and looks elegant. So when I want to add music to my HTC One, I plug in my phone and move the artist folder from my itunes media folder, in to the music folder of my One. Sometimes this is just a bit of a hassle and manually moving the music to the device takes up time if I buy a bunch of music from different artists.
I would like to use a cloud service like Copy( since I have 550gb of storage on there) to sync music with my phone automatically. I can set my itunes folder to any folder, so setting up a folder to say User/Copy/Music isn't an issue on my computer, but I'd have to download the music on to my phone and move it to the specific folder which would be worse! I know I could use dropsync (dropbox version of what I'd like) to sync a folder on my device to the cloud and vice versa, but does something like this exist for Copy? My music library exceeds the size of my dropbox space. Could possibly even use Box for this.
TL;DR Is there a Dropsync like app for Copy?
Dropsync like app for Copy
Obviously there is none. A lot of people - like me - have quit the DropBox because of Mrs Rice. I am now on Copy. Works well.
So - is there some dev who can create a CopySync app? Should not be too complicated, since Copy has about all the features of DropBox....
FolderSync - the Solution
Guys, FolderSync is a very reliable app and works with all major cloud services - with copy.com as well.
F.... the dropbox and Mrs. Rice.

Any recommendations for Music apps?

Hello everyone!
I am looking for a Music app for my Galaxy S6. I have been researching for a very long time now, and still haven't found the solution, so I thought I'd try getting help from XDA.
-I want to be able add music to a folder on my PC and have that folder wirelessly synchronized with my phone's music folder for offline listening.
-I want to have a desktop version of the app that I can use to manage playlists on my PC and have the playlists wirelessly synchronized with my phone too.
I have tried Google Play Music but it seems to have trouble when there are subfolders or when a certain file is corrupted. It ends up not uploading all my music.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

I looked into it, but I found that it didn't have a desktop version that I could use to manage my playlists on PC, and I can't wirelessly synchronize either

sync not available
Hey, half a year ago, I asked myself the same question and I finally found the perfect Player for my and your needs: Google play music. There is also a program for your Desktop which syncs automatically whenever u add music to specific folders. The new Songs are shown on recently added in the app and u can add these Songs to playlists and listen to them offline. If u add Songs on another device to your playlists, they will be downloaded automatically on every device.
Have fun!
Ps: The playlists can be saved on your sd card on your phone. Whenever you delete a playlist on your sd card, it will stillstill be available online to be downloaded. Simple as that, it's like Spotify for your own library
