I haven't seen too many problems posted about the car dock and I certainly haven't run across this one. So, if you have any suggestions, let me know.
Often times, when I try to use the voice search while docked, I get "Connection Error, Try Again". When it does happen to work, I have to yell in order for the phone to hear me. I am assuming that this is because the receiver is not being routed through the dock's microphone.
Also, when I attempt to play music, sometimes it will play through the dock speaker... but only for a minute or so and then only plays through the phone's speaker. Calls are the same way.
The entire time that the phone is docked the charger is working and the BT connected icon is displayed.
I have done the obvious such as ensuring setting are correct. I have wiped my phone and reinstalled the ROM, CM 5.0.6. multiple times.
Perhaps a hardware issue?

Is anyone else struggling with the car dock and the speakerphone fuction not being on?
I keep setting it to remeber my settings and to have both music and phone going through the dock but when I get back in the car it only has music checked so when I answer a call it doesn't use the bluetooth to the dock
Any ideas on how to get this to work everytime? Could it be something I loaded into the phone? I have been deleting all my programs to see if that helps but nothing yet.
I am unrooted normal os...
A little sporadic for me too. Although for the most part it works. What do you mean when you say "when I get back in the car"? Do you mean you:
1) Get in your car, start car and drive off, all the time with the N1 never leaving the dock.
2) Get in your car, start car, place phone it car dock...
3) Get in your car, place phone it car dock, start car....
I know it sounds pedantic but I suspect the method you use can effect how things end up. Especially considering how the power to the Car Dock usually is interrupted during ENG start. Furthermore I am not sure if the phone can or does sense that it has been placed in the car dock if the actual docking happens before you turn the IGN on. This is only speculative though.
So what I tend to do is method 2. I start my car first, to ensure power is going to the cradle during docking AND wont be interrupted. Then place the phone into the cradle. This seems to work all the time for me resulting in phone audio connecting.
Also for testing, you will have probably noticed the little BT notification it the top margin grows ears >BT< when it the phone is connected to something via BT. Unfortunately it does not differentiate between phone or media audio though. So you will have the same indication there for phone or media or both connections being active. To test your cradle placement technique is working reliably, disable the media audio pairing to the car dock for a couple of days. Then every time you dock the phone in the cradle the BT with ears appearing will confirm you successfully have phone audio connected.

That app would be no good for this problem. The Nexus One is not meant to be in Speakerphone mode when in the genuine google car dock. It is meant to be in BT phone audio mode. It is the car dock itself that needs to do the speakerphone bit with its inbuilt mic and speakers.
I have my dock connected to uninterupted power so it works even when the engine is off, starting, running.
I'll play with at what point I put it in for fun but I don't think that will matter.
I just hate it when I don't do it and someone calls and I have to call them back or scamble to rip the phone off the dock. Hopefully 2.2 will give us a sideways menu/phone/contacts list as well ;-)
So I just ran into these problems today and I wanted to find out if anyone else is experiencing them.
#1 My Charge's bluetooth will not stay connected to my Kia Soul's built bluetooth for phone calls, it would connect for literally 3 mins then just disconnect, almost like the phone was transmitting a bluetooth signal to pair with.
#2 I was using a cord to plug in my phone to my radio's auxiliary plug to test the phone as a replacement to my Ipod. However, every time I turned the part plugged into the phone using the headphone plug, or moved the cord or the phone, the phone would stop playing music and sometimes randomly skip to the next song. This is no longer an issue, just me not pushing the cord in far enough.
Im running the custom ROM so I am going to try this with stock, but neither things seems like itd be a ROM issue to me.
1) Does it disconnect during calls? It should go to sleep after a while, but if receiving a call it should reconnect if bluetooth is still turned on on the phone. This is Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR power saving working correctly unless it happens DURING calls, but it should sleep when idle.
2) I have had similar issues with cables no fitting properly, high end cabls likfe griffin/monster/etc have given me less issues, also make sure if you're usinga case that it is seated fully, some cases will keep it from being seated, on a headset with controls it uses a third ring for the mic and controls, and poor fitment can cause a stereo cable to short out on the third pin causing those issues.
I don't use BT, so I'm not much help with #1. For #2 though, I have read from several different users that the WM8994 chip/codec that this phone uses + voodoo sound is one of the best sound audio devices available, and provides a much nicer sound than any iPhone/iPod can. Now if only I could get my kernel config fixed.

It does not do it during calls, however, it does not reconnect when a call comes in either, I have to reconnect manually.
If this is how its designed, its actually a HUGE pain in the butt, I am an advertising salesman for a newspaper so I spend half my week driving and part of the reason I bought the Kia was for the bluetooth.

Check the ford sync thread for your bt issue
I actually was trying to find it earlier (I did not use search though) seemed it got buried somewhere, but I will look through it.
I have the same problem in my week old Kia Forte. From what I've read it's not the cars. It happens on several types of cars with several types of phones. It has to do with the down loading of the phone books. If you have a lot of contacts on your phone the BT messes up. I read that if you turn off your phone and then turn it back on it will reconnect and stay that way.
So far that DOES work. I do that almost every time I get in.
But that's the bad thing, you have to do that a lot. My suggestion is clean up your contacts. If you have old ones that you don't really use or call dump them.

I think I might have fixed my problem because I had my phone set to show contacts that did not have phone #s, just email addresses (I have a lot of those from work), anyways I had the hide those and it may have cleared up my problem, probably confused it trying to download contacts with no phone #
This is driving me batty. Ever since I upgraded to ICS, my phone will not consistently reconnect to my Soundfly View that I use in my car.
Sometimes it connects automatically, sometimes not. I did completely remove the pairing from both devices and repaired, but to no difference.
Most maddeningly, today, it wasn't connected, so I woke the phone (by pressing power) and unlocked it, then it connected. Almost like it was "asleep" or something???
Anybody else have this issue? Is there any fix?
I don't have a suggestion for you, just saying that my experience has been the opposite. I use two completely different stereo bluetooth headset devices to listen to music all day at work (neither one of them has a long enough battery life to last throughout the day so I have to switch)
I use a sony mw600 and a samsung hs3000. I'm sure they are different than your car thing, but I'm sure they do the same thing. Ie, phone and media sounds go through the headset instead of the phone.
Autoconnect has always worked well. For what it's worth I use poweramp as a media player and in the settings there is an option for a persistent service to always start auto playing when the phone pairs to either device, and to stop playing upon a device disconnect. All I have to do is turn on the power, or turn off the power, the service automates the rest.
So if your intended point of the car thingamabob is to get songs to play from the phone through your car speakers, and to use the car speakers to talk on a phone call, maybe consider a media player that has a similar option to what I'm talking about. I'm sure poweramp is not the only one that does.

I've been using the app A2DP Volume which sort of does what you suggest, to launch any app upon BT connect. It's been working fairly well...but I still have this problem.
After some experimentation, I really believe the phone is going into some kind of deep sleep if I haven't used it in a while (even though it is on). My clues: one, this Bluetooth issue, where it will not connect. However, I've gotten to the point of just hitting the power button (even through the case) when it does not connect, and it will then immediately connect and play just fine. Also, I've noticed that in the mornings I have started to hit the power and swipe, and it doesn't show that I have any new email. So I hit power and put it away, and it will ding in a few minutes with my new mail. So at some point in the evenings, it quits checking email.
Is that plausible? I've looked everywhere for some kind of setting, but don't see any.
Well, I blew that theory...
Left work yesterday, it connected fine, first time. Stopped to get gas, got back in, didn't connect, until I pressed power. So, it could not be a sleep problem, over just a few minutes.
I don't get it. So many use BT in their car, but it's always been a pain for me.
Whether I plug in my Aux cable (car) or my earphones (no mic or controls) Google Now voice will become activated. Google Now will think I said something by stating "If you said something I did not hear you." (something along those line). This will interrupt the music playing and I have to manually play the music again.
I'm using the latest OTA and poweramp.
This happens with the phone is in wake or sleep mode.
Google Now is not open or minimized.
The problem isn't very consistent, Google Now is not activated every time, but it happens enough that its frustrating, I'd say over 60% of the time.
Since its not consistent I'm having problems replicating the problem.
I've tried multiple pairs of earphones.
Anybody have this issue or found a solution?
I have this issue, but only when I'm in the car. And like you, it's not every time.
Hi, I've been having some fairly big issues with my in-car Bluetooth and phones. I have a 2013 Subaru WRX with the stock stereo which is made by Clarion.
I first started experiencing problems with it about 2 years ago: I would be driving along when all of a sudden my phone would randomly disconnect from my car while I'm talking, listening to music or just had the GPS running (or a combination of these). Oftentimes my car stereo will spaz out once it disconnects and will actually freeze (all buttons are non functioning, including steering wheel controls, power button, am/fm buttons, volume, etc) and take many minutes to reset the connection or it won't do anything at all (the stereo says, "please wait" or "paused" or will get hung on the song title that was playing when the phone disconnected) and my phone won't reconnect to it - I'll have to restart my car. Sometimes the stereo will reset and simply won't reconnect to my phone.
The kicker is that it's an intermittent problem, but still happens semi-frequently for periods at a time then it seems to get better. I've tried deleting my paired phone list in the car and on the phone, I've tried formatting my phone and nothing worked. I even brought my car into Subaru to diagnose the problem because I feel it's a car issue and they claimed it worked with their own phone which I feel is BS because they didn't want to fix it while the car was still on warranty, but that's another story! They said they couldn't fix it because they saw no problem (couldn't reproduce it) even though I provided them with video and pictures of it occurring.
This first started happening with my unlocked, stock, HTC One, m7 (currently running lollipop) . I thought there was a chance it could be related to an app or the OS but was not able to diagnose or isolate the issue. I just recently bought a Nexus 5x (marshmallow), unlocked, stock, thinking if it was the phone then this would fix the problem. It actually seems to have gotten worse with the frequency, however I've noticed that the phone is better at pairing with my car after the connection is lost. I still can't reproduce this on a consistent basis.
Can anyone suggest some possible causes and fixes? I'm hoping someone here is a Bluetooth Guru!
