So why isn't anyone producing nexus themes?
There's some great devs out there but no themes?

Look through the sub-fourm that you just posted this thread in.
1. It is time consuming.
2. Most images need to be recreated.
3. People are still too busy playing with the phone/waiting for stable ROMs.

I perfectly understand it's a lot of work. I just was surprised that there weren't more of them. I definitely didn't mean it in a derogative way. I truly give the devs a standing ovation for their hard work and efforts. I guess it's me being impatient as always! Am used to the g1 forums being crammed with new stuff. My apologies if I offended anyone.

Also, I think most of the main themers with the G1 don't have a nexus yet lol. I know one of them just got a nexus, so I need to harass him some more so he starts working on his theme.
I just purchase Nexus One just before few days.Well my experience is positive.Recently I am using some themes which I have downloaded from few sites of themes, but I am not much satisfied from that so I am surely trying to make some new themes in a short period of time.As I complete that I will surely share that here.Till then please keep in touch...

You just bumped it.
why not make one yourself? Theming in the case of resigning and rezipping is easy. Editing the pngs is probably next hardest (esp. when you see what guys like Sir_Mez and Manup456 are able to do- now that is skill) and then you just learn how to fix 9patch drawables- easily done if you spend a bit of time reading. All the information is in the android theming section.
At the moment there is no theme template for cyanogen which is one reaosn why no themes- personally i just have a themed framework-res.apk, services.jar, Launcher2.apk, Browser.apk and vending.apk and each new rom i just still the themed images in to the apk files and push them across via adb- not for general consumption. And unless you barrack for Geelong Football club my theme is no good for you
There are plenty of themes for the Nexus One, just many of them arent found on this site.
Here is mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625306
As already said, there are quite a few out there. Some are flashable, some are morphs.
I think that the apps and themes parts of this forum should be broken apart into two uniques so it is easier from a user standpoint
Why are there a lack of N1 themes. I thought there would be more. Can someone let me know where a good place to grab some themes. either metamorph or flashing. looks like the G1 still has the best themes can these be easily ported to N1? can other phone MM themes be used on the N1. help need more options.
Why don't you work on creating some? Better yet, you could mock the people that do work hard making them with threads like these.
The lower resolution themes can be ported, just would take resizing every image. Themes for the Droid can be easily ported over since the images are the same size.

This. Period.
Don't say "I don't know how" because at one time, David1171, Jairomeo, Formel or myself didn't know how either. But we figured it out. (there are many more themers, those were just a few that came to mind quickly) There are many many posts throughout xda that give a ton of good information. Get that search button working and get busy.
To put it simply, **** or get off the pot.
Wow... you two should probably calm down. The guy wasn't being rude, obviously he was more or less surprised by the fact that there really aren't a ton of themes available for the N1, which is true. This is the problem with XDA, people are always ready to attack other members. How about you guys just worry about yourselves instead of others, and don't assume that just reading tips and how to's will automatically mean people will be able to do something. We need to encourage each other not be smart asses.
@ ced8525 The reason for the lack of themes in my opinion is the user base of the N1 is significantly smaller while the G1/MT3G/Droid. For that reason alone, there is going to be less themes and it also depends on which phones our wonderful themers have.

Good post!
Well, it is so:
Making a theme is not done in 5 Minutes. If you go to work, has an own home, two children and a wife you don't have too much time.
As hard as it sounds:
The day already has only 24 hours.
I did my "themes" at first for me. I want to have my phone so, as I like it.
Then I decide to share it. I like it, when I look into this Forum and somebody pat me on the back.
This is great and the factor, why I share that.
I have spent many hours in the www and got to know nice people.
The Nexus is new. In most countries you cant buy a nexus.
I think, if the nexus is buyable an all countries, there will be more people how can change some icons and graphics.
;-)
At second:
Load you a few themes, change the graphics and try a bit. We love to see more people, who can do this.
Sorry, this post wasn't easy to me, because my native language is not english.
No need to calm down. I'm not the one whining there are no themes for the Nexus. Which is wrong. I look at the first 5 pages of this forum and I count about 15 themes/morphs. And thats only the first 5 pages. This phone has been out for 2 months and there are already 15 themes on the first 5 pages of the forum. If that's not good enough for someone, they can make their own. It's attitudes like that that make people NOT want to do anything.

I think your right the rate at which the themes are coming out is great and while there may not be enough for that person now there sure should be in a few months lol, I mean ow many themes can you use at 1 given time
I being new to Android (Long time Sony Ericsson user) have been searching around on how to create themes and iv found a few places but its not all straight forward information.
I dont mean to be to direct but could you (or another great theme creator) make a quick How To thread on themes, from making the 9png files and editing them etc
While i was using my old SE phone i learned alot, i started porting firmware patches and became a regular source in the forums for porting but now i want to get my hands stuck into doing themes but dont really now where to start

Those threads have already been made and remade. Look around in the Android Themes forum and the G1 Theme forum.
If you want to make a morph, I have already written up a pretty nice tutorial for that, located here
There is also a copy of the .9.png tutorial located over on www.nexus-nation.com (figured since I left Manup out of the themer list earlier I would give a shout to his website since he is one of the biggest and best themers)
So i cant get the evo until november this year, i was just lurking around these forums just to see what i could find and theres hardly any themes for darchdroid. Im sure people are busy and everyone has their own lives and stuff but i was just wondering if maybe its harder to make or port themes for aosp because theres so many themes for sense. Gosh these hero forums are dying already lol its pretty sad, until i get my evo i at least want to help out. Im going to browse around and search for some how to's but i really wanna port themes for aosp. If you wanna be kewl just show me some links of some how to's i got some extra time at home now on vacation and i wanna dedicate alot of times to port and create alot of themes for aosp. share your info or links if you care if you dont just ignore this thread!!!!
I think most people just whore out other themes for the Nexus and G1/MT3G that are built on cyanogen. The main Android Themes forum has some http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=527
Alrighty then, here we go. Infinite Cha0s X now up and running. I have decided to do the Market as an add-on due to various compatibility issues some testers have had. I managed to flash in succession: Market versions 2.2.7, 2.2.11, and 2.3.6 without need to freeze the MarketUpdater, or wiping ANYTHING. Not a single force close. However, even trying to flash a themed version of the same one included in the rom (2.2.11) failed for some of my other testers, sometimes not even showing up in the app drawer at all. Long story short, flash with caution or at least take the steps detailed here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/li...ty-market-update-ver-2-3-6-a.html#post1454796

Haha! Thanks for the kind words, and I was thinking the SAME thing, and was almost thinking of posting it before I noticed you wrote. I know the Motorola stuff isn't as big over here, but was hoping for SOMEONE to notice this. LoL Guys, if you are running Liberty, and you like blue at all, you'll really love the amount of depth and detail that my theme has... Don't be scared. Peace.
Nice work bro,
There are a few pluses and minuses
Good:
Deeply themed!
Good colors!
Nothing really missing
Bad:
Images aren't very sharp
It doesn't look super professional and looks like this theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002986 except yours looks better.
But I think if you could sharpen up the images a little bit to make it look a lot more pro and maybe more minimalist this could be a great theme!
Good luck!
Ljbaumer
Hey man, thanks for props and constructive criticism. Unfortunately I know of no way to make images sharper, as most of the images are found online, and I don't know any repository of hi-res icons to pick and choose from. Also, my theme came out well before Bruised Steel, just not for the Dx, as I had a Droid 1 previously, but I'm glad you like mine better. I dunno anything about being super professional, as I have no schooling or training in image manipulation, so I had to go with being as thorough as possible. I'm just someone with too much free time on their hands. LoL Anyway, have a good one.
Nice effort
Yea very creative, but I here wat he saying.themes just doesn't look shape around the edges.maybe some one on here can give you sum advice.
Beyond the Messaging icon and the little + symbol in the dialer picture, I'm not sure what you mean about the images not being sharp? I don't see anything else that isn't at least standard quality icons. Please elaborate.
Maybe they are judging the low res sscreen shots without actually installing the theme....i installed it just to try it and it liked beautiful...but the version I used was one I ported with Wugs...so the 3g icon didnt port directly over to GB that I'm using..... But loved it and planning on doing a re port once Wug updates his porter

Just checked yours out and, you're right, its easy to have "sharp" and "professional" images when you just recolor existing images. Man this forum is full of douche bags!!

thanks for not even having the common courtesy to bash my Bruised Steel theme on its on thread. you should remember that most themers do this for themselves and don't have to share with you. if you don't like it.... Don't use it. you Sir are the real douchebag.

willjohnson - DroidDoes was speaking of ljbaumer's theme, not yours... DroidDoes is an up and coming themer as well and knows how much of a PITA it can be at times, as I have helped him with a few things myself. Anyway, thanks for the kind words about my theme. You keep up the good work too.
At first glance it would appear he was talking about will. But after looking at each persons themes. I think he is referring to the pink theme by 'lj'. Big whoop if its hue changes, (his other 2 look pretty clean) and if he know that is so much of a PITA, why did he start bashing him for just stating his opinion.
Lj was throwing out his thoughts. Pointless ones yes, but still just his opinion. Looking at 'DD's' thread's and seeing what he has made for themes .... o wait he hasnt posted anything.... So he shouldnt be talking crap on other people's stuff until he prove's himself. Up and coming means nothing. Put your stuff out there and let the fans decide whos is better
Everyone starts somewhere. If its not to your taste just move along.
To the OP- nice work.
I have threads, just haven't posted them here, thank you very much! I have never, and will never "bash" another's theme. But, if you're gonna talk **** about someone else's themed images not being "sharp" enough when all you do is change the hue on yours, you SHOULD be called out, IMO! I am "up and coming" and have only been theming for a couple of months now but, I'm just on the other forums most of the time. XDA isn't the ONLY forum, yeah?
Cha0s, this is one of the things I miss most about my DX! Excellent work..as usual!

"noob" on "noob" hate, nobody ever wins. I really hate the word noob, such a derogatory term. Everyone had to start somewhere. Zimp gave you some great links, but I recommend using ZipThemer instead of the Metamorph app. IMO it'll save you from having a headache, and they both use the same xml format.

EDIT: After some research, ZipThemer might be easier to learn, and yes, probably less headaches (unless you nandroid backup, in which either is fine).

Also for me, MM would either not work 3/5 times and the 2 times it would work it would freeze up. ZipThemer just seems to provide a more consistent result.
