Also, if you have a Desire ROM - it has Flash (lite of course)! Very nicely designed, sometimes laggy, browser if you ask me!
(only for Android 2.0 and above)

i like it!!!:

I never liked the original Dolphin Browser (think it's hideous and yea...not my cup o' tea) however I was blown away by the functionality and looks of this browser...
while it doesn't exactly fit my aesthetic it is still a beautiful app and another testament to the evolution of Android apps...
Hell, I even 'donated' for the ad free version simply because I always support apps I feel deserve it.
Now if only I can find a theming kit :-\

this browser win hands down.

It can't download zip files.

a bit laggy sometimes, feels as though its not making full use of the snapdragon.
but it is amazing none-the-less, glad to see apps as well made as this finally making their way on to the platform.
will be my new browser for a while

I'll give it a try for a while.
It sure looks nice.

like the new browser, made it my default for now

All right, not bad, but any way to get it to hide the tabs?
Also about:config comes up blank. Any way to get deeper under the hood of this thing than the settings menu?
Any other shortcomings you guys are running into?

I'm loving it!

If it is like the previous Dolphin Browser, all the "about:debug or aboutd:config" stuff is available without having to type it in each time you want to tweak something, it is just in the more list, or whatever they have it titled.
Just downloaded and double checked, it is like the previous versions, just hit menu, more, settings, then system settings in that list.

Beautiful app although the lack of pseudo-flash will be holding me back from switching to it as my default browser. They're on the right track though, I'm sure I'll switch to Dolphin once Froyo comes out and flash will be standard.

You know, i installed this maybe only 8 hours ago, with the intent of giving it a good testing before i tossed it aside (like Skyfire, and xScope) to revert back to the default browser.
But this thing has really grown on me. The text reformatting (column text formatting when zooming) is right on par with the default browser. xScope text reformatting was horrible.
In the minimal time I've had to really sit down and use it, I've really seen nothing LACKING from it, that is in the default browser. Gestures is really nice, and the UI is well, beautiful.
Its looking like i MAY have after all, a browser replacement.
Lets hope i don't find something else later that'll nix it for me, and send me back to default again. =) (nothing against default tho, it gets the job done, and rather well to be honest.)

12 hours of use and really enjoy it. The volume scroll is a nice added feature

I agree...I thought I would just laugh my way to uninstalling it but it's actually quite nice. Big improvement over recent versions of it

lol, I felt that way myself, thought it was gonna be like the original dolphin, skyfire, and xScope for me...but no...it is my default now.

gonna give it a look see. thanks for the ups!

Does anyone know how to hide/show the tabs from anywhere on the page?
The old dolphin browser would show the tabs when I double-tapped on the screen. Now it seems that I have to scroll to the left or right side of the screen and swipe quickly to get the tab popup.
Or does anyone know how to get to the top of the page quickly?

Are you sure about that? Do you have a file explorer app like Astro installed?
I don't really like the Default Zoom built into the framework of these new browsers (since Dolphin HD is just a modified version of the 2.1 Browser). It usually just doesn't work (like setting Close is actually zoomed out) or Close is too close/Medium is too far out.
EDIT: Played around with it and setting the text size to Huge is a workaround for some sites but it's not consistent.

I'm loving it. Been using it now for about 3 days with no problems.

Dorothy: an Internet browser for Windows Mobile 6/6.1

Hi, all.
I'd like to introduce Dorothy, an Internet Browser for Windows Mobile 6/6.1.
In fact, I'm one of the developers of this browser.
It's a stand-alone, webkit-based browser.
We tested it on HTC HD/Diamond, Sony Ericsson X1i, and Samsung Omnia.
We started the closed beta program a few weeks ago.
You can join at http://www.dorothybrowser.com .
I hope you enjoy the Internet browsing with Dorothy.
We welcome any feedback or suggestion.

All the bests,
Daniel W. Kim.
i am only downloading because i really like the name.
They call it a 'service,' so perhaps they use their servers to transcode websites before sending them to the phone? If so, it's in the same vein as Opera Mini, Opera Turbo and Bolt Browser.
I hope it's not the case.
i too love the name

It does not use any proxy server. It's stand alone.
Oh sweet! I can't wait to test it then. If it really is three times faster than Opera, this could be one killer browser.
I already registered, har har. :3
Update: got the download link! I'm excited.
Interesting. Only basics, but fast. I miss only text wrapping (now it's hard to read anything) and tabbed brwosing. I like rendering - it's fast on start, it's fast when scolling, it's fast when exitting. I can't save my homepage in settings.
Interesting yeah. Not quite the three times faster than Opera Mobile as advertised, but further developments would be fun to watch.
Will we get updates by email?

Dorothy already has automatic update feature in it. You can see the update dialogue if there is any update. (The dialogue appears once a day if the update is available.) And we are planning to send e-mail notifications for updates.
We are now in the closed beta phase, that is, we are adding new features, fixing bugs, and changing things. Your suggestion or feedback will be very helpful. Please feel free to suggest.
I'm still waiting for their email with the download...
Really looking forward to trying it!
My email went in the spam box-check there.
Nice browser. I like the blue skin. It's not as fast as mini 4.2, but is on par with ucweb6 and opera 9.7. It needs settings and a full screen mode. Definitely a keeper.
Pages seem to render faster than Opera Mobile 9.5, actually. The issue is that they aren't updated to the screen properly. For example, when I navigate from one page to another, while the new page is loading, I still see the previous page, but if I scroll while it's loading, it renders the new parts without updating the section that's still painted with the old page.
Definitely a keeper. Needs more work on usability features, such as kinetic scrolling, better zooming and text reflow. Good job guys!
Oh, by the way, I use an HTC Touch Diamond. VGA screen.
Somebody registered but didn't get an e-mail?
Please let me know if you can't find any e-mail from "Dorothy" even in the spam box.
Maybe we should modify the e-mail sender module
contact e-mail: [email protected]
And, on the other hand, yes,
we are working on that page update bug.
Hey! Thanks for the update. I just sent an email to the feedback address so all of your team can see it. I also included a couple more concerns, I think.
In any case, it's pretty awesome to have yet another quality browser enter the WinMo market. We'll see how the competition plays out. Best of luck to everyone? Haha~
wow this is really a keeper! it really loads pages fast, even got more speed than opera mini on my device (touch pro 2)! needs a full screen mode though... and sometimes i get minor rendering issues( grey boxes here and there)
will keep an eye out for updates!
same here with the email - not spam folder no email, unfortunately.
Is there a QVGA version of this?
Thanks,

We are preparing resolution independent version.
When can I expect to get my email?
I really like it!
On touch HD the rendering is fast and accurate, also compared to Iris it seems that the page better follows the finger gesture (more fluid movement).
Compared to opera, It better supports Iphone websites thanks to webkit.
Impressive first attempt.
Like everybody else I'd like to see features like:
- Fullscreen (I really don't need to see windows top bar when surfing, and the address bar could be hidden the same way the bottom bar is hidden: just leaving a back button and an extend bar button maybe?)
- Zoom (I'd like not to have to scroll left and right when I zoom on iphone websites, could we chose the canvas size like in Opera? or have options like in Iris Mobile, Desktop, Column...)
- Kinetic scrolling (Everybody is really used to it, even if I also like the opera mini way were scrolling on the page is twice as fast as scrolling the finger - this one can be implemented easily I guess if kinetic takes too much time for now allowing for faster scrolling)
- Remember passwords (in safe and secure way of course)
Also question: What is the option at the right in the bottom bar with a + and a t?
Anyway thanks, really happy to see things moving on WM side of browsing, funny to see the new IE struggling compared to the competition...

Opera Mini 5 beta is out

Hey I just download Opera Mini 5 beta ... and it seems to be best browser of all even opera native or Iris or Picsel or Webby or IE (mobile) or Skyfire and other browser I have tried and forgotten names.
Here is my comparison on HTC 3300 on an EDGE n/w in India
Browser Stability Speed Tabs Finger touch
Opera 7.1 beta BAD LOW BAD VERY BAD
PICSEL OK Medium N/A GOOD
Webby GOOD LOW BAD N/A
IE GOOD Medium N/A n/A
Skyfire WORSE LOW Hmm.. WORSE
OPERA Mini GOOD GREAT GREAT GREAT
In my opinion Opera MINI does much better than any commercial product today...
OPERA MINI 5 is amazing so far!!!

looks promising and really good to try
installed it now, it love at first sight!
Adding their own onscreen keyboard to solve the issue of OS-independent input: GENIUS, I mean really, I never thought they'd solve it this way! Plus this allows for inline search, text input and copy-paste. Pure genius!
Only thing is, I personally dislike their design of the On Screen Keyboard. It's a ripoff of other popular OSKs out there, like the iPhone one, or HTC/FingerKeyboard/PCMKeyboard/TouchPal/VITO etc. Specifically, I don't like the fact that it occupies so much space on the screen and that each time you press a key a balloon pops up. SERIOUSLY, I don't get the balloon at all! Why do every so-called finger friendly OSKs have the balloon? It doesn't make any sense! Can someone please care to explain how its of help in ANY WAY? I think its just an hindrance and it adds unnecessary lag.. I mean, it's not like you can't see what you're typing; would you rather look at the input field to make corrections, or keep an eye out for the balloon to see what you've pressed? I think it makes more sense to look at the input field and hence the balloon is useless.
Just my 2 cents.
when you have big fingers like i do...its very easy to press the wrong button because of the size of the screen (don't have that problem as much with my Touch HD) having the balloon works very well. And the onscreen keyboard is amazing...yes its a ripoff of popular keyboards but I think that was the point...it was always annoying in the past to set keyboards for Opera and then it would popup with another keyboard...LAG...then change to the proper keyboard. Its an amazing keyboard its an amazing browser. No complaints
Very nice browser...
I've just a complain... when I copy a text from a webpage I'm not able to paste it outside the app...for exemple in a note or sms... It's possible to paste it just in operamini...
Anyway it's a very good piece of software!!
I need a cab-File for my windows mobile 6 device...
at the opera-site "http://www.opera.com/mini/next/" my browser (xda herald) said: device not found - so I cannot download it ....
My trinity was also a "device not found" but it let me install the generic WM version. It rocks.
Yes i know its an early beta but for me it's one feature missing from the previous version, synch'd favourites with the desktop client.
Also it would be nice for someone to CAB it up to provide a link on the start menu same as was done with 4.1, oh and remove the security/connection warnings.
Not asking much am i?
OK, i've managed to get a shortcut created now to remove the security/warning issues. For those that ask, all i did was copy the existing Opera Mini shortcut and edit it to point to s1 instead of s0. Ok, just looked properly and it's wrecked the nice icon, now showing the default JBed one.
As for the pop up on the keyboard, great idea for those fields where you can't see what you are really typing, password ones in particular.
Ok, solved the permissions issue, it seems that by default i downloaded the unsigned version from Opera, searching their forums gave the extra i needed;
on your phone go to m.opera.com/next and then scroll down to "Other download options" -> "Select signing certificate". pick a certificate and you will be returned to the download page, now download and let it install.
all that's left now is to fix the icon in the start menu and wait for them to add bookmark synch back in. This has been left outof the beta at this point.
Too bad my scrool wheel doesn't work or the d-pad. Other then that really liking it. Even the on screen keyboard is nice too!

Thanks for the tip on getting signed my device got picked upas a TG-01 lol it's a Kaiser, here is a link to Opera Mini Shortcut with .ico
Liking it. But hangs on save page :-(.
Also how to create direct shortcut. I created one "Opera Mini 5.lnk" with "28#"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run s1_" but it says Suite S1 not found. It is installed as s1. Old operamini is installed as 's0' and link works fine.

Well atleast they should provide an option for getting rid of the balloon for those who prefer to use a stylus and/or have small fingers. All the other finger-friendly SIPs do.
where is the clock?
on mini-4, i can see the clock while surfing
love at first site on my vox
great browser!
Anyone knows how to utilize the d-pad to scroll around. After a while it is very tiring to scoll with your finger.
Working wonderfully
I've installed in on my phone and it is just the best browser all around.
I've tested it on allot of website that due to the coding don't work with opera/IE/skyfire/operamini4.
Now all my sites are working.. This is truely a webbrowser of note
When I go to my igoogle page it comes up in a Scandinavian language. What's that about? It won't display my google apps homepage at all, it takes me to another Scandinavian google page.
Also here in the Uk you can't use www.bbc.co.uk properly as it won't believe you're in the UK.

Right, but 90% page compression more than makes up for that, as does speed dial for bookmarks.
I have been an Opera Mini fan since the days of my HTC Excalibur and WinMo 6 stuck on EDGE on T-Mobile.
On HSDPA, pages load in a snap, MUCH faster than stock or Dolphin browsers, and when I switch to EDGE in certain areas on my train commute home, its nice to still be able to cruise the web without a hiccup.
But rather than ***** about lack of multi-touch, you could *gasp* email the developer and suggest they add that, since this is a BETA, and there's still time for them to integrate MT before the release of the full product.
Also, kinetic scrolling works for me.
IDK it took me a long time to scroll down to the N1 section. In the stock browser I can do it in 1 swipe.

Considering this is still beta and it loads big pages about 2 -3x faster than the default browser, I'm quite excited. Can't wait for the final and firefox mobile to come.
Well the app does say BETA. I am personally blown away by the speed of this browser. Yes, it does such that it doesn't have Multi-Touch etc etc, but I'm very sure it will come in the next few releases. Instead of crying about broken features on a BETA product..don't uninstall the app..report the bugs and help make it something very high quality.
Anyone else having problems getting it to work?
It launches then hangs for a while "Installing" with the progress bar not moving, then a black screen with message "Unable to connect to the internet".

I totally agree with you.
Opera Mini 5 beta is my new default browser. Eff multi-touch. I can't stand waiting for a browser to load a simple web page when I'm on H or 3G. Opera pulls em down at lightning speeds.
Speed > MT any day.

[App] UC Browser, another amazing Browser replacement from China

Lately, it seems like there has been an influx of Android goodies from China. Some of this stuff is pretty amazing, like the MIUI ROM. A couple of weeks ago, I discovered the "MIUI" -aka Charming, aka Miren- Browser and was stoked to get that thing in a translated form. It is speedy and has a pretty cool interface. You can find a number of posts on XDA (here, here, and here among them).
Everyone I have talked to who has used the Miren browser has been jazzed about how much better it is than the traditional options (stock, Dolphin, Fennec/FF, Opera, SkyFire, Xscope, etc.) and I too have been impressed.
Yesterday, I discovered yet another browser, this one also from China and I have to say, so far it has blown me away! I have been preaching on the Miren browser for a week, but This new UC browser is simply the best mobile browser I have used. I have only had it for about twelve hours, so I don't know what the full capabilities are or if there are any major bugs, but so far, I am incredibly impressed.
It can be a little tricky to locate and I am hesitant to post the apk here as it appears to work with hundreds of handsets in different formats. i will post the link where I found it and you can do your own research on which version to grab. This is the English language site (on a side note, these guys are PROS! Just check out the flawless translations in the various languages and you can see that they take immense pride in their product and work. You'd be hard pressed to find other Android devs who have the time or skill to provide such clean sites in multiple languages. Provides me as an end user with a lot of confidence in the final product.)
UC Browser
Pretty amazing specs includes all the typical options, some less prevelant ones and a few atypical inclusions such as built in File Manager, Night Mode lighting and super fast URL autocomplete. The only shortcoming so far is I can't find anyway to get pinch to zoom on this thing, but I am submitting a query to the devs on that.
Edit: Thanks to jpyounis1 for figuring out the pinch-to-zoom settings!
To enable pinch to zoom change user agent to "web ua" then browse mode to "zoom mode" and ur done. Now you have full pages with intelligent fit.
Edit2: Unfortunately, so far as I can tell, no flash support in 7.2. For now I will have to stick with Miren and Skyfire as my main browsers and keep UC as an alternate until 7.4 is available in English.
And it's pretty too...

thanks for the post
the "built-in" facebook scared me, security issues and all that :O

I was pretty psyched by the prospect of this browser, but if they don't have the ability to integrate pinch-to-zoom it might be a bust. That would be a shame because in all other respects this browser is superior to most others.
I guess I will wait and see what response i get from the devs.
Yea I really like this browser. Looks great and its ui is superior. I think its better than miren browser and is my new default. I think between this and firefox take the cake.

Awesome, thanks for discovering that. I thought I had tried that combo, but it must have been the "zoom Mode(Compressed)" that I tried. Now this is my favorite browser

Opera is located in Norway. It has a privacy policy matching european standards. Still I wouldn't feel completely comfortable to have all my browser traffic redirected through them, but that's a matter of personal taste as long as current standards are met.
I used UC as my main browser as a Nokia user...love it. They must have recently added the new platforms because I don't recall a WM version.
Indeed, it's Android!
Sharing content??
How do you system share content with other apps in Android?! IE: get it on the system share list?
Or.. how do you email content out.
I have to in part manage my information that way.
Thanks
Tim
wow nice find love the ui!
is there any way to get flash working on this browser?
It is definitely well polished, but there are 3 things that stop me making this my default
1. No quick access to address bar, in fullscreen mode
2. Share options of webpage are extremely limited
3. No true speed dial or easily configurable bookmark list for start page.

Yes I was also hoping for the same, but couldn't find it
Am I using a different version than you guys? I got Pinch to zoom working...
EDIT oops, looks like you guys already figure out how to pinch to zoom.
Anyway, this browser is amazing. The new 7.4 chinese version home ui looks like Miren browser.
Trouble with this configuration is that it becomes the same speed as every other browsers on Android... cept Opera Mini of course.
QUOTE=jpyounis1;9284509]Yea I really like this browser. Looks great and its ui is superior. I think its better than miren browser and is my new default. I think between this and firefox take the cake.
To enable pinch to zoom change user agent to web ua then browse mode to zoom mode and ur done. Now you have full pages with intelligent fit. Love it

[APP][2.1+] Javelin Browser - Adblock, KitKat Transparency, VPN, True Multi-tasking

Hi guys,
It is my opinion that mobile browsers on Android suck because most of them are focused on feature count over ACTUAL mobile usability -- With most mobile browsers to be just a desktop browser squeezed into a small screen.
So I built Javelin Browser, extending from the very great code-base of Lightning Browser. Like Lightning Browser, Javelin is light-weight, and super-fast.
But that is nowhere enough. To get the mobile part right, here’s what I did.
MINIMAL DESIGN to be minimalistic, intuitive, and beautiful.
ADDED ADBLOCK natively, using the implementation of Adblock Plus with Easylist.
ONE-TOUCH gesture per action
READ EASILY with a reading mode just like Pocket app, Instapaper, Readability, etc.

This is an on-going project. As of April 2014, this is my second month into this. I’m commited to the Javelin project for at least the next 2 years. Let me know what you think!
Next release:
Fully featured Omnibox (It'll resemble that more of Firefox rather than Chrome - The suggestions will will lean slightly towards web-history/bookmarks over than web-search)
Bookmarks.. Chrome Bookmarks import for one. (I personally want this)
In the pipeline:
* Javelin on Android Wear
* Link Bubble: Oh man, I love the idea. But it is really just chatheads + preloading of URLs and showing an overlay of a webview. It lacks a full browser backend. So yes. I plan to implement some sort of Chathead + Preloading feature in the very near future.
----
Addendum (full disclosure):
- Javelin is a forked project of Lightning Browser, under Apache License 2.0. Here's the link to the repo: https://github.com/anthonycr/Lightning-Browser
- As is with the app permissions, the app does register your email addresses to identify you as a user, and from time-to-time, you might receive a newsletter that you can opt-out anytime.
Going to download :good:
Looks great! Gonna give it a whirl right away :good:
Downloading..
cool! let me know what you guys think.
Thanks

A little bug
I'm using the browser right now and there is a bug when Full-screen Mode it's activated the navigation bar cuts a piece of screen, the bug is "fixed" when you open a website but everytime when the navigation bar appears this happens. By the way, great browser! :good:
A couple of screenshots and a direct link to the Play Store would probably raise the interest around here. I bet a mod can do it for you if you can't yourself.

Is Javelin open source like lightning?
I really like Javelin's UI! I would like to see the app icon get changed because it looks a bit odd.
I just tried it and here is what I think.
One gesture is all I see atm, that's not enough. Check the many naked browser offers, that's what I wanna see, similar for the bookmark panel access. Also performance has drastically to improve, it's way to laggy on my NEXUS 5.
But it seems like a solid start so far, I like the design, what I don't like os the heavy emphasize on going pro, seems like it wants you to buy something on almost any click, this should get toned down or it will turn people away too fast and easily.
I will keep an eye on this, I would really like this to become something like a nicer designed version of naked browser which is still unrivaled for me even though I doubt this browser will turn into something similar.
Just have a try... really class design someone compares to naked browser ... The size difference is due to adblock?

Beautiful, smooth and fast! Bro where have you been my entire life!
The only problem I have with the browser is the icon it looks out of place and odd compared to other icons, maybe a redesign would be nice also keep it circle cause circle icons are beautiful.

I agree. The Browser is great, but the icon is kind of simple
How come it says "Jerky is the first browser to fully integrate..." under AdBlock settings?
Homepage defaults to javelinbrowser.com - no matter if it's set to 'blank' or another site.
Every time I go to alter the size of an image I get a popup asking "what would you like to do with this image?" Can this be turned off somehow? I just want to zoom in or out. The other options should be accessed by a long press or something.

Jerky browser is the previous name of the Incognito app, which is now known as Javelin Incognito, but I'm gonna fix this typo Thanks for the alert!

Ahh. Another bug. Working on it. There are some urgent bug fixes and this is one of them that I will be addressing. The bug fix release should be out in the next week
If you'll accept a request, can we please rename our bookmarks? It's a little confusing when four of them say "Welcome!"
