Theme Keyboard For HTC Incredible - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

I have 2 keyboard apk theme, one a theme from Xperia10, thanks to Jonasl and the second is the one I created from the link below, keybard is red and black, look really great on the Incredible. I been running this on my phone with no issue nor lag. Hope you guys like it.
Below is the link to create your own theme keyboard. Thanks to Jonasl and GimpSta.
http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/
HTC_IME_hi.apk is the Xperia10 keyboard
HTC_IME_themed_by_gIMpSTa.apk is the red and black keyboard

Couldn't get the red themed one working. Installed it, selected it from the keyboard selection settings.. tried restarting the phone/etc, still won't work. What is the trick to get it working?

Try installing the one that says it is an upgrade, i got it to work. the Red is pretty cool.

Install the Xperia10 theme first n then install the red theme last, it should ask to upgrade. See of that work.

Hey guys, i got it working, all you do is install the file from gimpsta, go to language/keyboard activate the HTC IME MOD. then go to any where u can get a text field (messages/mail/gtalk/sms) touch and hold the entry field, choose text input and change to htcime mod
Heres mine
http://tweetphoto.com/21788185

I made my own keyboard scheme, and after I install the custom keyboard, it still uses the default keyboard instead. any suggestions.

Nevermind... after restarting it worked.

Worked for me.
o Downloaded both APK files located in the first post of this thread.
o Installed the HTC_IME_hi.apk First
o Activated it: Menu > Language & keyboard > Select THC_IME mode
o Installed HTC_IME_themed_by_gIMpSTa.apk
o Turn HTC_IME as active keyboard. I used email, compose, Press and hold below the signature. Window pops up, Select Input Method and chose HTC_IME mod.
o I also reset (powered off and then back on) the phone.
Below is the two keyboard layouts. One for Alpha the other Numeric.

I just want to thank whoever put this together, I spent about an hour making different themes, one thing I wish we could keep on the themed keyboards is the button on the bottom left that drops the keyboard out of view.

I do miss that, but... all you need to do is hit the back button on the bottom and it does the same thing.

There is an easy solution to this, that is a bit "cooler" than the button. In the keyboard options, you can enable "Gestures" Swiping Up, Down, Right, or Left can be programmed to a few commands, including "hide keyboard"
I personally have:
Swipe Down = Hide Keyboard
Swipe Back = Delete last word
Thanks for krelvinaz and shizs14 for the mod.
This keyboard is well and above better than the regular keyboard, almost just for the extra options available to the user! The color is a bonus.
Krelvinaz:
I might suggest modifying step 5 to compose a new item, and "Long press in text box" the part about the signature threw me off a bit. It wasn't clear to me at first.
For me, I can switch keyboard in any text box (not contact input) on the fly by doing this.
Works great when handing your phone to rookie, or someone who wants to try the different keyboards, I have Stock set to "Full Querty", this IME mod to Compact (my default) and Swype as a fun alternate.

All you have to do is enable it in settings Or, rather, disable the smiley button.

great tip, thanks

Since upgrading to 2.2, this doesn't seem to work any more. Load okay, but when you go to use it, it errors out.
Sorry!
The application HTC_IME mod (process jonasl.ime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Have been using the non-red themed one.
I've looked at what I thought was newer, but that would not load at all.
Any suggestions?
**EDIT**
The HTC-IME theme builder works...

Is it possible to theme the HTC sense keyboard and have it not default to the Android keyboard??

Requests to Laurentius26/Beast...

Hi,
I'm currently using your latest rom, and its great in terms of stability and overall features it contains. I had a small request which i thought i'd post, and decided to make a separate thread so that ppl can drop all their requests too, so here goes!
And now for my request -
It would be great if you could add PQz II into the default rom. Its a small app to enable control/alt key combos with a lot of other features for phone shortcuts, button shortcuts etc. Its freeware too! You can find it at www.nicque.com/pqz
if you could make the following customizations so that pqz starts this way by default, thats an added bonus -
1. Has the path to the "icon" bitmap (by default, its just a white blotch until you specify an icon in the default installation. the icon comes within the package though)
2. Set default keys to the SYM key for control and alt.
3. Make PQz start at windows bootup by default by adding a link in the registry
Cheers and I appreciate the great work!

Hi,
Which keys do you set for ctrl and alt, cause they aren't on keyboard?
Fn + Tab maybe?
Also how to set a icon for the today I don't know?
Can the icon in upper tray moved to bottum tray?
2 many questions haha...

He he, nice questions.
I tried the app but quited after some minutes because I couldn't find a way to get it working, lol
Nevertheless if working, it could be a good improvement.

with all do respect, PQz suck.
it really messes up the keyboard control for other programs, such as games for example...
if you really need it, install it. it only takes a couple of seconds and a couple of lousy KBs, if i remember correctly.
Rom devs can't include apps everytime users have a spacial request. That's what kitchens are for...

Normally, we set the "SYM" key for both Control & alt. This way, you press sym once, its control (shows on the icon, once set!), press it again it becomes alt. Its soooooo useful, i cant tell you.....you must try it!
i use it extensively, to do control+c, cntrl+v, blah!
The icon should be on top, so that it shows what you've pressed (control or alt).
The cooler part is the other sub-modules it has such as phone shortcuts, app shortcuts, system shortcuts etc. For example, i can set shortcuts such as alt+Alphabet for speed dials for all my contacts. No matter what application you're currently using, just hit Alt+S to dial a contact for instance, or even fire an application!
I also use, Alt+X to close current app, alt+0 to close all apps....really useful!
Try it out for a while, you cant live without it!
Cheers!
San
Can you add these files to Windows\ directory?
If you could add these to \Windows directory, it would be great! It changes the basic "Open/select file" dialog to browse through folders in a standard windows way rather than scanning through all folders and showing it as one single list!
It overrides this dialog at all places. For instance, when you try and add an attachment to your email, it shows standard folders for you to navigate and pick the right file, rather than making one giant list of all files on all folders!
San
EDIT: There's a small bug in wm6, the softkey labels are not shown though (not a big deal as long as you know what they are!) . The left softkey is "Up" one folder, and right softkey is for "Menu" when the open file dialog is active. Make sure you activate it under Settings->System->FileDialog and check the option in there!

Hi San,
I will have another look and tell you what I think of it later.
Greetings,

how about the ability to call the last dialled number? can that be added? and maybe not including the latest task manager 2.0 as that has problems with the closing of apps.... maybe the earlier version 1.5?
PQZ
Well... I tested a bit.
But it does screw up other functionings.
Also the today icon I don't like, I only see a white square in top bar
Did you try HandyMenu or AEButton, they have same function's but much easier. For copy\paste I use Pnotepad.
Sorry...

Leo

The WiFi problems are fixed now!
Can you pleeeease solve the Bluetooth Stereo problems ASAP.
I think I already flash my Universal with all existing ROMs, but I believe none as A2DP and WiFi WPA fully working.
can i suggest to try rlToday? It's a very nice Home/today plugin. Working with VGA and completely skinnable.

[REQ] Tweaks to remove Arrow Keys from Keyboard

Hi guys, I am not sure if many of you have this problem, but the arrow keys on the bottom row is really a pain, as it is just below the space bar.
More often than not, when I try to tap the space bar, I tend to accidentally hit the arrow keys below it, causing T9 to change to an alternate word.
This has been very annoying to me. I have done some search and found quite a few complains from the others as well regarding this issue.
I personally find no use for the keys to be there. and I believe same goes to most of you HD2 users.
Can I please ask for some help from the expert around to create a tweak or maybe some step by step guide to remove the arrow keys from the bottom row of the keyboard, making the keyboard shorter.
This is something that I believe will help many of us out there. thanks for viewing.
Your help will be appreciated!
PS: I have tried finger keyboard, but it still have the arrow keys, and i am having some problem with the suggesting contact names. I really hope some one could just remove the arrow keys from the original keyboard, as it is really good aside from the arrow keys being there. Thanks Again!

This would have the added bonus of freeing up more screen real estate. Or bigger buttons would be nice.
I would also love to see this happen.
The simple solution is for some third-party developer to design an alternative VK that finally utilizes the upgraded screen real-estate.
Android has tons of different keyboard layouts... developers just need to jump on-board with Windows Mobile.

I hate the arrows as well... We need a project to start working on this
Hi me again. So has any expert programmer out there could please please help us out???
any guidelines would be good. Thanks!!
Search for Nikoan89 wvga keyboard v2.2. That has the function with arrows you want.. Its an old feature btw..
Correction. version 1 see to be better... Pressthe arrow button and magic happen on top of the kb..
Hi, Nikoan keyboard seems to be ideal, however after installing his WVGA cab, my HD2 wouldnt boot and was always stuck at the white screen with the HTC words. At 1 point I tot i have bricked my phone... coz i wasnt able to sync and re flash my rom. However i got it fixed in the end.
i too am looking for something like this as well as modifying the landscape SIP to put the cursor keys on the left side of the KB.
why?
cuz i have small hands/thumbs. if the cursors were on the left, there would be equal reach to the keyboard on both sides, unlike now where the right side is twice the length than the left due to the strip of hardware keys adding to the length of reach.
if someone could reorganize the stock (HTC) keyboard cursors:
1. in portrait: remove the row of cursors or place them along the TOP edge of the keyboard.
2. in landscape: move the column of cursors from the right to the left of the keyboard.
SPB and Resco charge $20-25 for their keyboard solutions. after trying both, i think they both suck and i'm glad i trialed them first.
therefore, i'm willing to pay/donate $25 to the first person who can meet both of my requested modifications without bugs.
I personally prefer those arrow keys to be there. Only because I find it annoying that when I type, and make a mistake, putting my blinking cursor-line right after the mistake only to hit backspace to delete the mistake, is annoying.
I just typed a mu|stake. ARGH! (Must put cursor between U and S in order to edit it. - Always a hit/miss)
Any tips?

Solution to the HD2's crappy keyboard!(updated 10/3/2010!now with working xt9 button)

Ive managed to edit some of the xml files for the built in keyboard and i have to say that it works so much better now.
the idea to make the keyboard work better was inspired by how the buttons were spaced on the iphone. i noticed that they were spaced farther apart compared to the hd2 so i painstakingly edited every buttons' "virtual" position and this has resulted in a keyboard that is much more responsive(the lags seem to have lessened considerably) and accuracy in typing is now at par with an iphone.
i never use xt9 so i just removed it(in the 1st three attachments)w/c also resulted in reduced mis pressing it when trying to press an "A".
i also moved the dpad arrows(also in the 1st three attachments) to the top making the period, comma and spacebar easier to press without mistakes.
the backspace button has been enlarged for better ergonomics.
to lycox, thanks for letting me use your skin. heres the link to the original skin's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709916
thanks also goes to p107r0 for leading me in the right direction.
this wouldnt have been possible without XmlGui so big thank yous to programatix.
Instructions: download the attached rar files.unrar and copy all files inside the folder directly to the windows directory of your HD2(you will need a 3rd party file explorer like resco to overwrite the existing files). soft reset. thats it...
i strongly suggest to backup all the files to be replaced just in case something goes awry.
do this at your own risk.please dont blame me if your phone suddenly gets bricked. mine worked perfectly after replacing all files.
please leave a comment after youve tried it.
this is only for portrait mode. i didnt touch landscape coz i dont use it...
if theres anyone kind enough to make a cab file out of this please do.
EDIT: if you need xt9 use the Orig KB Edited attachment
Update: i made a version 2 of the mod with the spaces between the buttons even farther apart. some people might find this more comfortable but the mod sometimes results in "no presses". and by the way i succesfully skinned the spacebar and shift key thanks to dinik and p107r0.use the attached sipmap.dll in the fallout keyboard rar file but its far from perfect.eg:the .com button has disappeared.i have to look into this a bit more to fix it...
if you want the original gtx skin just replace the fallout png files with the ones from the edited kb rar file.
EDIT 2: i added an original version with the arrows at the bottom and the xt9 working.
EDIT 3: i know its a bit confusing but to shed some light on all the attached files heres an explanation.
the first one(Edited KB.rar) is exactly like Edit KB by boogiecornejo.cab except in cab form.
the third(FAllout KB.rar) is like the first two except that its semi skinned with a fallout theme.
the last(Orig KB Edited10-3-2010) contains the files needed to replace in the windows folder to get the functionality of my mod using whatever keyboard you already have(assuming its a normal layout eg: with the directional arrows at the bottom) in your device.
i hope that shed some light on whatever questions there are about the files...
Thanks!
I abandoned the original due to the many typo's. My first impression of your modded version is very positive.
Regards,

hello dunc!to switch from alpha to numeric just press the @ button.
xt9 is completely disabled and im not really sure how to turn it on without having to go back to the drawing board. editing the xml file is to say the least "tedious" but if a lot of people would request it back i might, as i said, "go back to the drawing board"
its actually a miracle of sorts that this mod worked coz im not really into developing anything on these forums. this is actually my first real contribution to the community despite having been around for the last 6 or 7 years...
I would like to give it ago but i do use the XT9 function all the time, at the moment i've gone back to the old style phone keypad rather than a qwerty keyboard as it seems to be less laggy and the buttons are far larger (i got fat fingers)
Good work on this though i'm surprised no one else has done something before wish i knew where to start

I've got the same issue. None of the keys match up even though the pop-up of each key press is correct.
EDIT: It looks like it was just an issue with XT9. XT9 must be turned off before using this layout. Just go into any of the other keyboard layouts, select ABC instead of XT9, switch back to Full QWERTY keyboard, and everything works like its supposed to do.
Thank you Boogiecornejo for making HD2 keyboard finally functional. I went from an iPhone to the HD2 and I always missed how well the keyboard worked. Great Work!!

[Q] Looking for HTC keyboard! (T9)

I've searched throughout XDA and can't seem to find a keyboard that I can install that brings back my beloved T9! Searching the market brings up little as well.
I just recently got CM6.1 + Kernel #43 (+ various other things) but before this i was still using MoDaCo's 1.5 ROM and although I love [almost] EVERYTHING about CM6 - I can't find a way to get the dial-pad keyboard with T9 for texting. I'm assuming it doesn't exist.
I just want to know what keyboard is good and simple and includes a T9 dialpad-style keyboard for portrait view. Preferably free... but not required.
Some keyboards I've heard of, but no verification of T9:
Smart Keyboard Pro
Swift Key
SWYPE

THANKYOU!
This is fantastic!
EXACTLY what I was looking for. I can type extremely fast now (even in the car... shhhh) and at first, I was glad to have to T9 back but the keyboard itself looked a bit goofy. Then I saw the 'AOSP generic look'; it is perfect.
Thanks so much!
Follow up
Ok - I had to follow up on this again after using the keyboard for a few days. I don't think I did it much justice.
This keyboard is incredible. Not only is it simple looking (although you can apply other themes if you wish), the customizability (is that a word?) is insane. I spent forever just going through and playing with all the settings. Sometime it takes a while since you have to kill the keyboard and wait a second for it to come back in a typing app to test it, then go back to the settings menu, tweak, rinse & repeat.
I was thrilled to see that there are custom smiles because when I do use the smilies, which isn't often, I don't like them to have the 'dash' noses (ex. ) I prefer the simple but maybe I'm just really picky. Having the customizable smilies is awesome. You could even just replace them with anything you use often. One downside however is if you add too many, they'll just run off the screen and you'll not have access to them.
The custom swipes is a nice feature as well. When you swipe along the keyboard in one of four directions, you can assign custom functions. I have my 'swipe-up' set to 'Shift' so I can get capital letters quickly. I know it doesn't seem quicker than pressing the shift key but it is for me. It just feels more natural too when I'm texting or emailing. You can even set a swipe to change languages , I think this would make multi linqual people very satisfied. Type BOOM Tipo BOOM 类型 BOOM Тип.
There are many other settings including the organization of buttons, word prediction and spelling settings, and much more. You can even save and restore settings!
Best of all... it's FREE!
Edit: Thanks again!

Ok, well so long as it works then
So the wife can't live without her stock HTC keyboard. I'm going to flash AOSP's CM7 build for her, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a plain old stock HTC ime that will work with GB and specifically this ROM? Thanks.

Thumb Keyboard 4.0 - Beta (upd. Beta closed)

Update may 23: The beta is now closed. Thank you all for your participation and feedback. Please keep your suggestions coming. Suggestions and requests are welcome in the Thumb Keyboard thread in the paid-for app forum here on xda (link will follow)
--------------------------------
New beta 4:
Customizable toolbar. The toolbar can be switch on or off with a simple toggle. For phones as well as for tablet (Gingerbread and Honeycomb have more functions to assign to the toolbar keys)
New small keyboard for one handed operation on a 10" tablet. It also contains a "blind spot" which you can use to hold your tablet.
------
Thrilled to announce a brand new version of Thumb Keyboard.
It's a total rebuild from scratch of the current market version, therefore I decided to launch it first as a public beta.
Besides a whole new core that is optimized for Gingerbread and Honeycomb, the new version (v. 4.0) introduces a whole lot of new features:
multi-touch
Correct previous written words with suggestions
Shortcuts - store and edit much written phrases, mail signatures, logins and insert them with a simple tap
New addition to the prediction algorithm: predict a word based on a previous word
New: resize the width of the letter keys on the split layouts. With the option to adjust the height, one can now adjust the keyboard completely to ones own hands and device!!
Alternative suggestions for voice input. Just tap on the recognized word to see the alternatives
Redesign of the keyboard based on multi-touch chording. Entering numbers and operating the cursor keys was never more easy!
New style popup keyboards. Fling, slide and wipe and back to typing again ..
New design of the keyboard layout. Easier access of much used keys
Better esthetic integration with Honeycomb by the use of Honeycomb style windows
and more (and still more to come
The beta can be downloaded from thumb4beta.blogspot.com
(Because the beta was already out for some weeks for 10.1" tablets, some may wonder why this separate announcement. The reason is that the current version will support all screen sizes and layouts, just like the current market version. This means a lot more devices to be supported and a lot more test cases)
Looking forward to your feedback, suggestions, comments, bug reports (hope none ) etc.
-----
Update (May 3):
Version 4 beta 3.2: added Custom portrait/landscape layout combination * Smiley popup keyboards now on all layouts * new theme "digital red" * custom keyclick sounds * better dictionaries * 12 extra shorcut or quicktext slots * Return key in instant messaging apps * option to exclude contact database from predictions * some bug fixes
Awesome! Big fan of your work. We've talked via email about the keyboard. I still use it. Downloading now.

Thought I've send you mail too. Let me know what you think about it.
Personally I think this is a BIG improvement over the version over the version on the Market. One of the things I liked about the stock GB keyboard was you could tap previously entered words and change what was entered. Love seeing that in here.
The only thing I don't see is being able to set different layouts for portrait and landscape. Being a phone user, I like that the hide keyboard button is hidden.
Big speed improvements as well. Great job!
Thanks going to give this a try!

Thanks! The ability to set different layouts for landscape and portrait mode will certainly come back. It's one of the core functioneren of this keyboard. I left it out just to have something to do while the beta is tested
If you are on Gingerbread or Honeycomb you should try out the bigram predictions (only English supported right now). It will predict in many cases the next word with the previous word and just one letter. For example if you type "of" and then the letter t you get a bunch of relevant words starting with a t and that makes sense as the next word after "of". Great feature for phones. (It will also learn from word pairs that are entered a lot)

Awesome on both accounts! I use a Gingerbread ROM on my phone and have the bigram thing enabled. Liking this a lot.
Nice, I'm loving it so far, I've been waiting for something that actually *KNOWS* what you want type next and learns other than swiftkey. The only thing I ask you, is please give us the option to enlarge the spacebar by removing the smile faces, comma, and or period key.
Thank you, and how else besides the blog and this thread can I keep up with the latest beta releases?

Will look into that.
The beta releases are all published on http://thumb4beta.blogspot.com
You can subscribe to that blog to get a notification when a change is made.
I've had a lot of downloads and yet no single bug report. I like to think that the keyboard is completely bug free, but that would be wishful thinking in the context of this giant project.
Any bugs? Please report them here or on the beta site.
I have found what I like to think is a bug.
Say I want to enter todays date. I long press the q for the number 1, the I select the "/" from the upper row and then I long press the t for the number 5. So far so good.
Now I want to enter a different date, like 29/5. I long press to get a 2, the I long press to get a 9. Now the upper bar is empty, and I can't select the "/" there
Another bug: I can't long press the p key to get a 0. All the other keys work.
And a little warning to Desire/Nexus One owners, if you long press the ?123 button while selecting a button on the lower row on the keyboard ( ! " ' : ; / ?), it will probably not work that well. It has to to do with the multitouch on those devices. It has to to with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhBRMaUn6Ig
If you want I can make a video showing all of these problems.
what about Portuguese - PT? Any plans on implement it?
very nice thank you nice sharing

I'm able to hold P to get 0. Using the standard layout.
After fiddling around with the different keyboards I got it to work too. After uninstalling and reinstalling however, it stopped working again.
EDIT: I found the problem, if I enable "long press for numbers and syn.." I can long-press P to get 0. If I disable it however it won't work.

Thank god a bug You are right, the standard-layout doesn't have a popup menu defined. Thanks for noticing. Will fix it asap.
Glad you sorted the other problem out. I couldn't reproduce it. In some cases the keyboard can act not as expected after a fresh install. In that case a simple, infamous reboot will fix the problem. (Seems like a general Android problem)
Hello ! I found a little bug : when you select azerty layout ... it shows on qwerty
Exept this, great work !
