Create "image" of phone - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

Hi,
I just placed energy rom cookiehome tab on my phone and installed some apps
to fine tune the phone to my needs.
Is there a way that I can create an "image"/rom myself of this setup on my phone. So if I want to try another rom, i can simply place this "image" back to my phone and don't have to install the additional apps.
I know how to flash my phone and place roms on it. cooking and creating roms i have no idea about.
thanks.

use backup software like: "spb backup" or "sprite backup", do backup of your device by one of those and save image file on memory card when you chenge rom you will need to install the rom of wich backup you done and then just run image file and that will bring all back from the moment before backup

Thanks I will give it a try, but does this also sets back to applications I installed additional to rom.

That will return back everything you done with your phone eg: all programs, games, sound setings, registry etc., but you can use the backup image only on the rom of wich was done

Hi,
Just gave it a try and worked great.
Thanks for the help

Backup everything before new room?

Hi!
Im looking for a software that will backup everything before I install a new room. I would like to save the settings etc.
cheers!
Ok there are a lot of options depending on the amount of time you want to spend either before or after upgrading (or both), this one SASHIMI http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538513 will do everything (well it sure looks like it anyway!) but seems very complicated to setup.
There is also SPB Backup & Sprite backup which I believe do a good job.
I haven't used any of these, I nearly used SASHIMI, but wasn't prepared to spend the time setting it up.
For me I use PIMBackup (search) which does a fairly good job for the time you put into it, I then backup other programs manually, for me that means Voice dialing, single file reg settings (make as I edited them to start with), plus then anything else I can think of.
You get out of the process what you put in, I decided I didn't want to spend ages preparing and would sort out reconfiguring my device manually after.
Backing up from one ROM and restoring onto another has the potential to cause you problems.
Some backup software (like Sprite) has different restore levels available depending on whether you're restoring to the same ROM, a different ROM or a different device, but I've never had much success with any of them.
The general recommendation appears to be a clean install from scratch, and use backups only for restoring to the same ROM in the event of an emergency.
SPB Backup
I had the same problem. I wanted to try another rom, but before I wanted to backup all personal settings and programs. Therefore I've dumped my ROM completely with Radio and then made a complete backup with SPB Backup.
After that I was able to flash other Roms and restore my own whenever I want.
Is there any such software thats is easy to use to backup the ROM before trying another. Got a T-Mobile Compact V but don't know where to get the stock ROM as a backup so I can flash some of the new ROM's avaliable.
For me pim backup does the job great. Quickly and easily saves contacts, messages, emails, appointments etc.

To backup your ROM (not the Radio unfortunately), you can use DumpMyPhone.
Then with the tool RebuildROM you can create a flashable version of your original ROM.
This is only to backup your ROM. It's not for your applications and not for the Radio or the SPL.

[Q] Phone Backup

Hey Guys, I'm a little bit of a noob here. I have had my captivate for about 6 months now and I started to get a little frustrated with the way the Captivate was set up compared to my old HTC Hero. I didn't have to root the Hero and could do anything with it I wanted. With the captivate it was another story. I rooted the new Captivate and it has been a wild ride. I follow the forums to see what is available after having Super User installed. I have to say I went a little crazy into the exploration of what i can and cant do. I learned what I cant do the hard way and spent almost 3 day's having problems with odin3 one touch flasher. Once i got everything back running to factory settings I decided to just set up the phone the way I like it and updated the config. for example I added the root access and updated the settings.db file to allow 3rd party apk installs. I than also deleted the wealth of useless crap At&T Preloaded onto the OS such as the apps and the 20 AT&T contacts. Fortunately now my phone and layout is exactly to where I want it. Unfortunately now I am afraid to perform other root mods on the phone and have to re flash the original factory settings on it and have to set it up all over again. I am not much of a programmer but do know end user support very well and was hoping that there would be a way to create a backup of the root directory so that in case I brick my phone (happend twice when I tried to replace the launcher program) I can just flash my backup so that I don't have to install apps, configure settings, and adjust the layout all over again? I was thinking of creating an update.zip would do it that i could keep on my sd card and flash it from recovery.
Can Somebody please Help!!!
Thanks,
Jay
Generally speaking, unless you use the same ROM, it is a bad idea to restore system settings.
Check out Titanium Backup from the Market. It works really well at backing up apps, data, and system data. Be sure to get the donate version so you don't have to manually install every single app (huge time/effort saver). It won't give you an update.zip file, but if you reinstall it and point it at it's backup folder, it can restore all of your data with minimal effort.
If you are prone to bricking your phone, back it up to an external SD card by entering "/<external sd>/Titanium Backup" as the backup path, replacing <external sd> with the real path (it's different on 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs).
Good luck.
Thanks, I actually already have Titanium Backup lite and i backed it up using the batch Backup all user apps + System Data but have no idea how to restore these backups if my phone bricks. I dont necessarily want to flash the phone to try it out. Any chance you know of where i can find out a little bit more information on how to restore backups with this app?
I also have the ClockworkMod Recovery where i have backed up my phone to an SD card. It says during the process Backing up system, data, datadata and than generates an md5sum. After this the phone boots back up and I was wondering if recovering using ClockworkMod is the same as flashing an update.zip rom but instead of using the stock version? Also this app seems a lot easier to use at there is an option to reboot into recovery and select roms

Create ROM from current android phone setup

I just setup my Droid Incredible with the MIUI ROM and adjusted all of the settings the way I like it (wifi, ringtones, layout, etc.). Is there a way to somehow spin that into a flashable rom?
Bump
I want to do the same thing! I have FireFly3.0 installed and want to try out a 2.3.3 rom, but don't want to have to endure all the pain of having to set everything back up if I find it unstable. A "known good" rom, if you will.
Can't you just use rom manager to create a backup, and pull it off the phone and keep it safe? I seem to recall using restores when I tried roms that I didn't like the feel of.
Yeah, it's called a nandroid backup. Boot into recovery, do your backup, then wipe and flash the other rom. If you decide you want to go back to your old setup, restore from the nandroid backup and everything will be just as it was. Like nothing ever happened...
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
For work I made a pre-configured phone with our own software
wich is used for consumer research.
I want to make a rom from this phone so I can distribute this on
the hundrets of phone's we are having.
(There's no *.apk or setup package from our own written software,
we use 2 *.bat files to reset the phone and install our software)
What's the most easyest / effecient wat to do this?
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Ace
Running: Gingerbread 2.3.6
Thank you in advance

[Q] ?'s about backing up phone.

So I have managed to flash several different roms and feel good about that. I think I am going to use the one I am using now. But when I do flash back to a previous rom all my user data is gone. for example contacts and stuff like that. Is there a way i can backup everything on my phone so that if i flash a rom i don't like i can go back. I use rom manager and I think this is how you do it, but just need some advice. Also when I make a backup can i copy and paste it, then put it on my desktop just incase i have to use it again? If I choose this method of saving my backups, would i just boot into revovery if ever needed? Sorry this is long winded but I am just tired of having to tired of having to go and fetch my contacts.
I've been reading a lot on this site, but would also like to know if it's possible to port data between rom installs. Particularly contacts, apps installed & text messages. is it simply a matter of restoring a portion of an previously back-up rom?
And yes, i think you can move stuff to your desktop as that's what I've been doing. I keep a copy of the stock EVO/Sprint rom on my SD card as well as the latest Cyanogen rom (with wimax) in case other roms don't work out.
Slowly but surely I'll get this.

[Q] Best Back up app?

I would like to change to a cooked rom so I would like to extract, back up or zip my entire OEM rom as it is right now in the event I want to put it back on the phone.
I have browsed around but I am unsure what the best method for doing this is. All the backup apps I find just back up apps and settings. I want to back up and save the entire rom, if possible with settings and all intact as it is currently on the phone...
Any suggestions on what I can use and the correct method to do this.
Thanks

Go into TWRP, backup data and system and whatever else you want, wipe data, flash new rom. Success!
Anyone tried OrangeBackup?
This is a question and belongs in Q&A, and to answer your question, Titanium Backup has never failed me :good:
