Hey All,
I currently using the File Type: cab "Co0kie.HomeTab_v1.7.1.cab" which I think is amazing. Only thing that's missing is the upgraded toolbars. As of now I'm on T-Mobile HD2 but those stock bars don't give the phone justice.
Please let me know by attaching links that can help me deal with this. I've tried a few and they didn't work. Please help a newbie out.

Here is what you are looking for. ***READ the entire thread***. There is info all through it that will walk you through the steps you need to take to get it to work.
You will need a registry editor and a file explorer. Might I suggest Resco file explorer. It isnt free, but you can DL it and use it as a trial. And it comes with everything you need.
Cheers.
PS. If you dont like this toolbar once you install it, and follow all the steps to get it working. You can uninstall it and install another, and it *should* work fine.

I've somehow goofed and deleted the default messenging client when I was trying out other alternatives. I ended up liking it better than the other solutions I tried and just want it back now. =\ Is there anywhere I can grab this (download, et cetera)? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Or, do I have to do a clean install to get it back? Is there a way to browse a ROM image to grab what I need from it? IE: the Messenging files only?
Thanks
Rireal
In Total Commander or whatever file explorer you use
In the address bar, Type:
Extended_Rom
Click on the Signed_OzPocketPC.Cab file.
Thanks for the reply. I was able to browe my extended ROM just fine but that file is not in there. I'm on a Wizard using a clean ROM which I would assume has something to do it.
Thanks
There is a link in the wizard forum that has the cab attached. Do a search there or try the Howard Forums T-Mobile Windows Mobile forum. I'm sure you'll find it....
Edit...
Here you go, about 3 post down...

Thanks, I've been unable to find the CAB file as of yet but I will keep searching.
edit: Thanks!
if you mean msn messenger then they prob only removed the shortcut
try looking in the win dir for the exe
hi there,
As you will guess by my question and post count i am a fully fledged n00b and have just bought the o2 xda orbit.
It such a great forum and enjoying reading all these mod's however there is one slight problem...
...how do you add them all?! i can obviously download all the files etc to my desktop (PC) but how do i then get them to install and work on my xda? e.g. quickgps mod, emulators, themes etc?
i imagine its very easy to answer and thanks in advance
just sync ur pda to pc,some progs will require a simple click ,if this needs you to do more on the device it will prompt you
other will need transfering onto your memory card and activating from your pda
i used this method with trail and error
good luck buddy
yeah ive tried syncing it and it does connect but then unsure of where to put the files.
For example i have the file to update the quickgps to locate quicker. Its in a .arm file and inside that is one file which is quick~g.000. I dont know whether to put the .arm or .000 onto the xda and when i have found that out in which folder do it put it when on explore of the XDA through activesync?
Thanks for the reply.
massive help and all understood now. tried both cab and exe files and both work great, thanks alot

Ok so I loaded Alex's multimedia rom onto my 8925. Love it minus the fact that it had no sim manager. So I loaded the HTC sim manager onto the phone reset and nothing. I cannot find the files anywhere in any of the folders. I may have to manually find it in the phone, where would I look to do this? Windows file?
Any help would greatly be appreciated because right not I have no email address or business addresses and I am not about to manually type each in on my phone.
THANKS again in advance
To get Alex attention, is better to post this question in his thread...
There is no need to open a new thread, and this is not goint to get help quickly.
Cheers.
i was mainly hoping to find a alternative way to find the application
ok i manually located the simmanager.exe file in the windows folder on the phone.
Hey.
In reference to this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975281
Where is the file? I am in great need of this, and really cannot figure out what M$ wants me to do to get it.
Any help would be appreciated.
cab files are run on the pda
No, I need to get the hotfixed .NET CF cab file and install it onto the device.
I can't seem to find the cab installer that is listed in the table.
EDIT: (I need to download the fixed cab file, basically, so I can install it on my device)

Click to collapse
Try this, I am pretty sure this is the file
http://rapidshare.com/files/77805623/NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZGV1DNJ
Google Search had results in 2 seconds
Thanks, I'll try those two and see if they work.
@cmstackar: Hehe, yeah, I'm never really sure which website will hit me with malware or not.
Neither one seemed to fix the problem (nor was exactly the size listed on the KB article), nor did about 4 others I dl'd and tried.
If anyone has a better way of solving this problem, let me know.
I really would like to be able to use embeded Pocket IE objects again...
I think they just dropped in a fix into the existing package, no version/name changes. I too am looking for this. The article indicates that the file is available but it's actually not!?
If anyone is still looking for this fix, you can request it here:
http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=975281&kbln=en-us
You'll get a download link immediately (it worked for me, anyway).
i've tried all the 10.000 methods in all of the other "how to cab from exe", but none of them seemed to work, now im just curious if maybe its not possible in the type of exe that im installing. What im trying to get the cab of is the medical programs from skyscape. When installing from my computer, it asks for some stuff, like if i agree with the terms etc. etc., and the it also asks what kind of install i want to do.. i select "Trail" and then it proceeds on installing it to my device.. but i cant get the cab anywhere!
does any of you deal with those skyscape files? or otherwise if any of you is interested/bored to give it a try, www.skyscape.com, download any file as a test-drive (trail) and install it as a trail also.. it would help me a lot since im gonna be traveling and i dont drag my computer along all the time, and i want to be able to install my programs in case of i reset my phone.
Thanks, much appreciated!
Could try this Universal Extractor
If you install with ActiveSync, it stores the .cab files that its extracting from the .exe file. So while you're running the executable file, installing the software, go to C:\Users\*YourSySName*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync and see if it is there.
