The post regarding invisible armor are no good
Just got my Viktui protector this morning. Having used a Zagg shield for my Touch HD (over 18 months I ahd to use two) I can tell you that I am astounbded by how easy the Viktui one was to apply. Really, really straight forward with no bubble or anything. It also fits so snugly onto the screen that I can't tell it's there - a perfect fit. I cant's peak for its protectability yet but so far I'm very impressed.
i have both Zagg and Vikuiti though i have yet to put on the Vikuiti one coz it seems the Zagg one is looking OK at the moment. I'm tempted to remove my Zagg front screen but i'll give it another couple weeks to see how it feels etc, otherwise i'll be installing the Vikuiti front screen.
I try many protection for my old Nokia N900, and for me the best is brando ultraclear.
Best quality/price.
I've used a vikuiti screen protector and whilst it was ok as an interim screen protector, I found that it attracted finger prints quite a bit & after a while it felt powdery to touch. Just my own opinion.
I've now fitted (took a few goes) an exim spuc which feels a lot smoother, less prints & responsive. I'm happy now
I had a brando ultraclear on my Touch Dual before and worked nice.
I prefer a screen protector that leave the color, the resolution and the responsivness unaltered.
I'm so confuse
My advice is not to bother with a screen protector at all.
Having owned a G1, Hero, and now a Desire, I've never had a screen protector on any of them, and never suffered a single scratch.
IMHO, as long as you're reasonably careful, you can rely on the scratch resistant nature of the screen.
Regards,
Dave

This is true - sort of. I had my Dream for nearly 18mths unprotected, and only have one 5mm scratch on the entire screen, However this is a result of me dropping it. I was careful about not keeping it in a pocket with anything else in it that whole time.
On balance this was a hassle, and although I still do it with my (screen-protector covered) Desire through habit, on the occasion I forget to I am glad it's protected. Imagine how gutted you'd be if you ended up with a 1" scratch right on the middle of the screen! Especially since it's a brand new (to most of us) phone. I think a few quid for piece of mind is a small price to pay, no matter how careful you think you can be. What if you show it someone else and THEY drop it?

Lol I was glancing over and thought... not 5mm deep?, lol.
Let me say, without exaggeration, I've tried nearly all screen protectors out there over time for various devices.
If you live in, or travel to, hot & humid places stay away from invisible shield protectors they start their own peeling process shortly after a trip into humidity.
My favorite, by far, are the Durasec - HighTec protectors.
They are a bit thick feeling at first, but you get used to them quickly and you need only one for the life of your device. They are manufactured to exact specs of the screen, per device. They do not scratch, unlike some thin plasticy like ones. They are "self healing" for lack of better description.

not really a fan of screen protectors but got a Martin Fields and I must say it's way better than my brando clear.

I recently went with the FoneM8 HTC Desire Screen Protector from an Amazon Marketplace seller. For under £2 it works like a charm and you wouldn't know it was there! Plus I have 4 spares that I can use at another time if need be!
See this XDA Thread for other peoples opinions.

Stay away from forever fitters. I bought one and while they are ok for the price the grainy rainbow effect is driving me nuts so i am already looking for an alternative. I'm trying to find one that is clear so it does not effect the screen's quality. So far i'm waiting for a martin fields review and maybe a couple of pics...

best friend for HTC Touch Diamond
InvisibleShield eh? I had bad experience from using it on my Cruise. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good protection for your device but if your device is made with the paint coating on the outside, it may take apart the coating when you take off the shield. On my Cruise, some of the gray silverish area around the screen was gone. Not sure about Diamond but I dont intend to find out myself.

Screen protector
I have one on pre order but until I decide whether I wanna take the chance I plan to use the full front screen protector by Martin Shields along with the official HTC case (well until any better third party solutions come along).
Martin Shields seems to get good reviews and I can confirm that it is amazingly clear.
Invisible Shield
Well.. I use it on my universal and ordered for the diamond yesterday... I have to say that I am in love with the Invisible shield range! Bearing in mind that this phone IS a fingerprint magnet, i dont really want to use a case if i dont have to! I stopped using a case for my Uni about 3 days after having the shield...
It will be interesting to see what kind of solution they provide for the back though!
Will the invisible shield make the device NOT a fingerprint magnet?
In that case, would it be nice if I used it for the rear only? Any sudden change is colour, etc?
Coz I'll actually plan to use clear G-mask (thats what we call it here in SG) for the rear. That surface isn't a fingerprint magnet.
As for screen protector, looks like MF is already available for the diamond!

/QUOTE]
Well.. I can only speak for my UNI, however.. They are extremely easy to keep clean, and I have NO colour difference. Havnt tried it on a black device though! I am going to apply it when i recieve it, and then post some photos for people to have a look!
I will definately use the full body version.. i have a ´couple of "nasty" marks on the one protecting my uni, mainly because it fell open screen onto some rocks at the beach, and went clatter clatter clatter.... You know one of those moments that you stand there shocked and tell yourself that you are going to have to find a new screen??
Picked it up, and there were a couple of light scratches on teh screen protector.. but thats it!
Because it distributes any impacts across its whole surface, it really does help protect the screen / phone VERY well.

Mobile companys should offer an optional model with this thing pre-installed
Damage to coating?
Does removing the invisibleshield damage any coating on the machine (most notably on the front screen) like they do on the cruise? If so, that's a big no no.......
They said "no".
oooh.. It arrived..
Have to say....
Its not bad.. but really not great!
Its a 5 piece jobbie.. 1 piece for the entire back, one piece for the front screen (including folds for the top, and sides!), one piece for the buttons at the bottom of the face, and 2 fiddly bits for the bottom next to the USB jack.
Problems so far are that the round action button is NOT cut out, so it "floats" above. It may stick after time though!
And its worse that the damn IPhone to apply!
After 4 attempts, and about an hour I gave up... I restuck it to the pieces of paper, and will try again tomorrow!
Can someone post pics for this please?
I really want to see how they managed to make one for the back of the Dia
Well - just to compare it with the experience I had with the iPod touch:
Never ever a InvisibleSHIELD again.
Not the quality, I managed to get i on top without any bubbles, but the haptic is bad. Also the over all appearance neither I nor my friends like.
The second iPod Touch I protected with the anti-glare foil from the Apple Store (don't remember the name). Frankly, that is much nicer (front), but not for the back site...
Hope anyone will produce s.th. combined: a self gluing anti-glare front protection foil, together with an InvisibleSHIELD like back.
Any suggestions where to find such?
i have the one that comes in the box on mine it has alread picked up qite a few scratches, The guy i bought it from gave me a free spare screen protector from the brand 'MOMAX' direct from japan, seems good, i will probably try that l8r. but Martin Fields screen protectors are by far the best ones IMO! (and u get a piece for the camera lense too!

But he's a full protector or only screen protector?
It's a full body Invisible shield. First one the front, second the back.
It's difficult to distinguish, but there are holes in the protector for the camera, earpiece, volume and power buttons, etc

THANKS!!!
I wanted to see how it looked like so badly.
Please let us know how easy it was applying the shield to the back.
I'm rather curious how it would work out because of the angled area :S
Any possible chance of some photos of the InvisibleShield on the Touch Diamond? I'm very curious to see how it manages to stick to the angled areas of the back too.
I think the InvisibleSHIELD is great I have installed 4 of these things and each time has been relatively painless just have a steady hand and abit of perseverance.
Hi all,
We all got the HTC screen protector in the box (which I quite like) but I know many people won't/don't use it. Logn shot but if anyone has a spare that they do not intend to ever use can they mail it to me (UK) and I'll drop a quid in the next charity box I pass???
PM for address....
Thanks - Rich
It is nice. I bought a Something Fields one, and it's nice too, but not accurately cut. Would like a new original one, but I presume they sell them somewhere? Saw an unboxing vid of the raphael and it was at least three protectors included AND leather case. Not fair!

You can buy "official accessories" from numerous places, although the prices are IMHO outrageous!
A quick google
eXpansys are selling them as "HTC Touch Diamond Screen Protector ST P170"
I do not use it because i actually dont like the plastic on the glass allready
I think they say they now use glass, but there is still this cheap plastik pver the glas
HTC should use a Toucpad like apple does

The screen it self is made of glass. The digitizer (what responds to touch) is plastic as it needs to flex.
The iPhone touch screen has its own quirks. You have to use fingers. Nothing else will work.
I use the original HTC screen protector on mine as the digitizer is very easily scratched, should see the little scratches all over the screen protector though and I am very, very careful with my phones, if I didn't have that they would be all over the main display, so if you have any PPC is would seriously recommend that it's used. The HTC screen protector is great though, don't notice it's there, my finger and stylus glide extremely smoothly over the surface, like gliding on ice .
What would be nice if someone combined resistive and capacitive technology to create something that works with the finger, stylus and nails but only has a hard glass surface like capacitive does and not have that annoying plastic digitizer which is easily scratched. Maybe one day though
Used mine for about 2 days and got fed up with bits of fluff sticking around the edges making it look messy. I just keep the phone in a pocket on it's own and no problems so far. Haven't used screen protectors on my other PDAs / Smartphones in the past and never had a problem.
Depends on the individual I think.

It might be, but I'm not perfectly happy with it. The original one is perfectly cut, but the MF one is a tiny bit "smaller", and bad around the speaker. The nice thing with the MF is that they also protect the camera lens and the hard buttons.

No this has been talked about in a few other threads... imo and many others invisibleSHIELD is awful.
Martin fields are the best IMO as they are the clearest ones i have tried and they and are pretty scratch resistant but do indeed have a bit of a rough cut a good compromise are MOMAX protectors... also v good and clean cut.
Got my invisibleshield just and i just LOVE it! havent seen this good protector before.
does anyone know where i could purchase the original screen protector that came with the phone, mine actually covers both the screen and the buttons...
Any idea where I can get the original T-Mobile MDA IV Compact screen protector from? In fact, any 3rd party make for the MDA Compact IV would be useful to know about. Thanks

Same here. Screen protectors make your phone look ugly and cheap. I just put the phone in my pocket without any other objects as well.
I was just showing off the phone to one of the girlies on reception at work. It didnt respond as quickly as I'd hoped when showing her some pics. So, being the impatient so-and-so I am I chucked it into the flower bed we were stood next to. Wish I hadnt done it now as the bloody screen has a scratch on it...
My advice, if you are going to throw your Diamond into the flower bed, then make sure you put the screen protector on first!!! LOL

Haha, LOL! I recently read a report which stated that men are acting less intelligent the moment a woman enters the room. I guess you are a good example of this
Too bad of the screen though. However, when the screen is on you probably won't see the scratch that much, do you?
Just to let you guys know that I got a clear silicone cover and screen protector from some guy on eBay for AU$3.99 + $6.00 postage.

Although not very glamourous, the cover is great - grippy and stops me dropping it, scratching it etc. The button lights show through the clear silicone. The included screen protector is cut exactly right for the Diamond and not noticable. Totally recommend both.

It's ok, thought I would recommend getting the black one rather than the smoked one I have. The only issue I have is that the sleep, camera and volume buttons are a bit difficult to press with the case one. I think it may soften or loosen up with a bit of use so I'll keep it on for now and see how it goes.

Yup they soften up
i was the same. But few days now and they are nice and easy to press.
I did give them a bit of a warming up by clicking them a fair few times, but does work to loosen the silicone up.
I got the black one as you can see by this post/pics

I'm struggling with screen protectors though. I ordered some cheapy ones from a German seller but, with the greatest of respect, they're utter dogsh1t. Far too thin, scratched by a piece of card I was using to push bubbles out.
I really want to find a nice anti-glare protector if I can, otherwise I'll be going the Martin Fields route.

Sounds like you got the same ones as me, That's my 4th film heh... I know why they put 6 in there now but for £4........ or a scratched phone ?
Ether way mine is more protected than my other parts of me have ever been
btw i found it's less pressure with the card, and more laying it down and just ever so slowly backing it up and using the card to make sure the bubble you saw don't re-lay where it was.
I'm no expert but 1st go was a joke.... so many bubbles i laughed hard...
2nd better but no dice,
3rd was brilliant apart from a few bits, and my mind just made me take it off and start again
4th was perfect give or take 1 - 3 bubbles i can live with until i try again
You want to hear how my mate managed with an ipad XD
I am having trouble finding screen protectors as well. I think I ordered the same thing as you guys (bedifol ultraclear) from protectionfilms24 but when I went to their site, it seems it's pretty much their lowest range and looking at the reviews for the various cuts they offer for other phones, I am just wondering if it's worth not having a screen protector at all.
Please let me know if you have managed to found one that is good.
Cheers.
Low range - high range.... It was ALL that was out when i got the phone/wanted protection
It does what it says.
It protects the screen XD
0.05mm thick - Same as the "one" for £8 which i bought as with the £3 one to test all of them, Recently bought the martin fields and imo... it tints it for me.... i like the clear/glazed protectors which look like the glass it should be.
So 6 for £4 is win win
I got a screen protector from here http://www.devdef.com/products/for-samsung-omnia-7 (actually I got two), but I found that they're pretty good and by far the easiest to install of any screen protector I've ever used. To apply it, you need to moisten it (instructions are on the site), and then you can slide it over the surface of the phone, before it dries, until you get the perfect positioning. Bubbles are also easy to remove because of this - you just have to do it before it sets. The only drawback, really, is that it's pretty reflective. I don't notice very much in use, but it reflects bright lights quite a lot, so if you're looking for anti-reflective coating, I'd give this a miss. Also on a plus - it's pretty strong as you can see from the video on the site. Also, as the instructions say, it improves the longer it's on your device. Initially it looks a bit poor, but stick with it (no pun intended )

Very nice indeed. And I am using savvy screen protector, little rubbery in touch but not bad at all
Yeah, I used fairy liquid and water, and you only need a tiny amount of fairy liquid - it's concentrated, you know ;-), and you also only need very little of the solution on the screen protector. Also, as I mentioned it looks pants to start off with, and it takes a while to dry, but eventually it looks fine. If you like a shiny screen protector.
I bought both of them on eBay. Very fine !

As promised the pics of the CM barely there case.
edit: It also came with a free screen protector & a piece of cleaning cloth which I haven't used yet. Waiting for my current screen protector to be bit more scratched up (martin fields). Shouldn't take long.
That case looks really good just a pity I had to send my Omnia 7 away for repair!
What bothers me with these case is that I won't feel the cold metallic, sturdy cover finish in my hand anymore Is there any possibility to have a bumper instead?
So I've been using PDAs with touchscreens for quite some time (see my illustrious HTC device history in my sig!) and have never really found a screen protector I am happy with. I think I've tried most (ZAGG, Brando, MFOP etc etc)
I really need to replace my current Martin Fields protector because it's been annihilated.
So far on my DHD I have tried:
HTC's own - very soft plastic that scratched easily. Looked ugly after no time. I liked the price, fit and ease of installation though.
ZAGG Invisibleshield - I managed to put it on upside-down which didn't help. I love how hard-wearing it is (self-healing etc) but I hate the orange peel effect and the "sticky" feeling
Martin Fields - Didn't fit from the start - looked great to begin with but again, scratches so easily and looks awful now.
So I want to try something else (if there is anything!)
I really like how hard-wearing the ZAGG is, so if there is nothing else I'll go back to ZAGG - but I'd like to see if there's anything similar (but better) out there.
I don't really like those invisible shield, after sometime the edges will start to peel off and looks ugly (have those type of protector on my old HP Ipaq).
I would recommend 3M Vikuiti screen protector! Sublime quality (comes with a price though), try to google for protectionfilms24. They carry the product
Not heard of that one - will give it a look.
Which one is the best?
There are 3 choices:
ADQC27
DQC160
CV8
I have ordered a BodyGuardz to try out - supposedly has all the benefits of the invisibleshield whilst not having the downsides (orange peel, tackiness etc).
Why would you need a screen protector for the DHD? It has a Gorilla Glass screen!
I can't even imagine what will you have to do to scratch it!
The DHD doesn't have Gorilla Glass
Let us know about how the Bodyguardz protector works out for you, I dodn't know there was material out there as strong as Invisible Shield, but mirror-like.
The DHD is very exposed to stratches, the massive screen isn't helping...
Anyway what are you doing with your phone? Do you carry it around with knives or something
I still have a untouched original protector (I do have a slight scratch under it )
I went for the Steinheil anti fingerprint screen protector, costs about $16,- on ebay. Unfortunately they (you get 2) have not yet arrived.

I'm happy with Realook. Finger slides smoothly, great fit, no bubbles. Can hardly tell it's there. Only slight rainbow effect if viewing at extreme angles.

Part of my job is fitting these bloody things, trust me when i say that if it's peeling away at the edges, you did not put it on properly.
I nail these things every time, however the only phones that they look and feel good on is an iphone 4, oh and the ipad and galaxy tab. The DHD looks **** with it.
@ the thread starter, my advice would be to go for a phone protector (case) and a nice smooth screen protector, any generic s.p will work just fine, even the one's that come with cases (IF you can put them on right)
My fav screen protectors are the ones made by griffin, not sure if they do one for the DHD tho, shame really as they feel really nice and are a dream to put on.
Reelook is the only one I will use. FYI, gorilla glass can scratch.

Here in Japan I've been using the one from SoftBank. (The same carrier that sells the Desire HD).
I was shocked by the price because it was about 20 dollars (equivalent) and the only one available for the DHD when it came out.
However, it is still going strong and it still looks brand new. So I will definitely be buying another in the future when necessary.
My girlfriend sometimes mentions how good my screen is. I keep the phone in this old electronic dictionary case (bottom left) which has been stitched to nearly half the size so the phone fits in tightly and the screen is wiped when pushed in or pulled out. A student made me the blue one (at the top) so I decided to utilize the old one.
So I definitely recommend the SoftBank screen protector plus a soft and strong phone case.

I have used many types of screen protectors. I have been using BSE skins for awhile now, cheaper than Zagg and no orange peel. I have a full set coming in the mail.

Brando ultra Clear and anti-Glare screen protectors
i have brando ultra clear protector and the anti-glare one too for quite a few months now, sharing my experience with both :
Brando ultra clear:
Pros:crystal clear display , fitting cut , easy to install and remove , washable , very thin and offers good screen protection.
Cons: greasy and leaves finger smudges (u have to wipe it often), sticky sometimes (specially in a relatively humid environments, impossible to swype easily if yr fingers r a bit warm or humid)
Brando anti-glare:
Pros: very smooth ,very slick, doesn't attract dust at all,sliding/swyping is an awesome experience with this type, fitting cut , easy to install and remove , washable , very thin and offers good screen protection.
Cons: distorts the screen colors (grainy matt look) , reading and browsing experience is highly affected by that grainy effect (specially noticed with white backgrounds).
would be awesome if everyone can make a pros/cons for everyscreen protector they try, just to clear the confusion
P.S , im looking for a tip from experienced users of a screen protector in between those 2 i reviewed , i really like the slickness of the antiglare but the grainy effect is a very bad point.
hope this helps.
cheers.

I know some ppl have been waiting for this to come out and I've been searching every morning for an update and saw them there today!
There seems to be an anti-glare version but it's currently unavailable.

The Crystal Clear seems to be the one most people get for their phones. I had these on my Vibrant and you really couldn't notice that you had anything on there at all. On my other phones though it seemed to vary from phone to phone but overall good.
I bought some and will post pictures when I get a chance but I'm sure someone will get them before me lol.
Here's a 10% of realook products promo code that expires 7/31/2011

The promo code didn't work for me since I've redeemed this code previously. At least I think that's the reason why.
***UPDATED***
I do NOT recommend buying the Realook HTC Sensation screen protector. I was shocked when I opened the package today and saw that it does not cover the entire screen. The cut out is only for the display portion of the screen but what was more shocking was it doesn't even fit the full display portion. It doesn't cover the full screen and it doesn't even cover the portion of the display it was 'designed' for. I've contacted Realook to inquire about this to make sure I got the right one but on my package the code is #650.
I will post back if Realook responds to me but as of now I would not recommend anyone these screen protectors as they fall very short from previous standards.

Thanks man, I had it on my vibrant and was the best screen protector I have ever tried. Now... I'm worried because the dry application screen protectors are harder to sitck to the curved Sensation glass... will wait for some reviews and your pictures
This was most definitely the screen protector to have on the Vibrant. Please post pics when you can and let us know how it handles the curves on the Sensation.
Thanks for the heads up!
Agree. I have Realook on my Vibrant. Been waiting for these, but have 2 different cheaper brands I'm testing now, so will be very interested in whether they solve the curved glass bubble problem.
Thanks.

They both say "unavailable", and "we don't know when or if this item will be back in stock".
Please keep us posted on how the installation goes.
The one issue I have with the Realook on my Vibrant is it's a major fingerprint magnet. The Sensation non-glare version seems to be addressing this, but I wonder how much clarity and smooth finger sliding it sacrifices.
Use a hair dryer on the screen protector before u apply to phone. It worked for me. Saw it on another thread somewhere. Will post link when i find.

Bump. Just noticed they're available on Amazon again. Anyone tried them? I'm very interested in any reviews. Thanks.
Does anyone know if this SP covers the contoured edges of the screen?

Just as I suspected might happen. I cut a spare Vibrant Realook to fit inside the obvious curve part of the Sensation screen and there was still a bubble around the edge all the way around. I knew they would either cut it very small or use a totally different material. Not good news.
Reinforces my view that this curved screen is much more trouble than it's worth.
Thanks for posting.
I asked my friend about the Realook he received for his Nexus S seeing as how the curved glass is more pronounced on the NS and he told me the same thing. I should have inquired about it first from him or Realook.
He spoke with Realook about his NS and they told him it was the right product and that's how they were designed for the curved glass. The one designed for his Nexus S was a joke it was 1 cm short on all sides.
I would steer clear of Realook if your phone has a curved screen.
I just got mine today and what a bad surprise... damn, I'm gonna try to contact Realook and see if I can return it
Those look like the t-mobile ones.... dont cover the whole screen and scratch real easy. does it scratch real easy?
I also suffered from same problem....
But now replaced. Its perfect now...

I can't say about this one, I didn't even tried them on but I had Realook on my Samsung Vibrant and those were perfect, really liked them and didn't get scratched easily.
I'm pretty good at screen protector application. I tried the first just to see if it was any better quality than the super cheap, full-screen protection ebay ones I received. Not only did I have a TON of bubbles that I could not remove (perhaps it was heat damaged in shipment??), but it does not cover the screen well at all. GARBAGE.

Yeah this is ridiculous. I have no desire to purchase anything from them again. I had problems with the edges of the ebay ones coming up a little (heated before install) and I just installed the second one of the 5 pack that was half the cost of the realook garbage, and all the edges laid down this time.
Honest question: Are screen protectors really necessary with Gorilla Glass screens? I had a G2 with a scratch on the screen that only happened from a harsh fall and slide, never got scratched from pocket / bag / backpack use; and that wasn't even GG. Of course, I don't put it with keys and whatnot.
Anyone ever scratch a GG screen from normal use? Or what did it take if you did?
