Car Dock Mode - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Is there a way to get this on my hero? I know the Moto Droid does it 'automagically' when inserted into the official car dock due to some additional hardware it has but I was wondering if anyone has ported this functionality to our heroes that we can launch with a homescreen shortcut or something. Thanks!

There is car dock v2 in the market.. Add the shortcuts to navigation and whatever else you want.

adb push to /system/app and you will be good to go!

You rock! Thanks for sharing this! If I might ask where ever did you find it? Or did I just not search around here well enough?

BLAH
Okay, so after fighting with windows drivers issues, my hero is recognized in ADB. I went to push this thing to the hero finally all excited and everyhting and I get an error "failed to copy ... read only file system error"
I tried using adb remount to get it working but no dice
the exact command I am using may be flawed? i'm a relative noob to linux and coding so any help here is apreciated
Code:
adb push c:\apk\CarDock.apk \system\app

I successfully adb pushed this on my Hero but the text overlaps in portrait mode because (i'm guessing) it thinks I have the same size screen as the Nexus One. Do you know how to reduce the size of the icons so that it fits my screen?
Thanks.

open the APK up (don't extract it) with 7zip, pull the res/drawable-mdpi folder out and play with the images in GIMP or PS. then drop the edited images and folder back into the APK and push it back to your phone.

yeah. I pushed it via a macbook to Aloysius 2.07. I don't have a car dock to test it in by it just shows up as an app that I have to open, and it works fine other than the overlapping in portrait mode. Is that what you are asking?

I went ahead and redid the icons so everything would fit... even mixed it up a bit. Screenies below, with portrait, landscape and one with Maps pressed.
Hope you all like it. APK is attached.
To remove your old CarDock.apk, its as easy as:
Code:
adb shell rm /system/app/CarDock.apk
And then replace it with this one on your PC and push the new one with:
Code:
adb push CarDock.apk /system/app
Again, hope you like it.

CarDock resized
Here's the same CarDock.apk with the original icons re-sized so it fits the Hero screen.

I appreciate your work, I really do, but those icons are way to similar to use while driving. WAY too similar.

Works great, looks great! Thanks a lot. I'm glad that I didn't have to go into the apk and adjust the settings myself...I just learned how to push apk yesterday, lol. One day at a time.

Yup, the linked directions worked for me and the modified one with the original icons looks great. I agree that the one with all the same icons is too confusing if you are actually driving and trying to do something on your phone (kids, don't try this at home).

maybe this is a long-shot, but how difficult would it be to add a music icon to this? I have used my phone to replace my ipod. It isn't difficult for me to switch over to it but I was just curious.

Remove Home Screen Page Backgrounds?

Would it be possible to remove the transparent background from each of the pages of the home screen when zoomed out in the Sense UI?

This guy hacked the notifications bar to be transparent for the Sense UI, so I was thinking something like this might be possible too?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5719453#post5719453
Good idea. Seems to be possible, I like the idea anyway.
If it is anything like in Launcher2.apk then it is just an image that is used as the background and can be easily made transparent. The only image I saw in Rosie.apk that could be it was thumbnail_panel.png in drawable-normal-port-hdpi. I have included a Rosie.apk (actually Rosie.zip in the attachment but rename to .apk) with that image made transparent so that you can try it out. I haven't actually flashed any of the Sense UI ROMs for the nexus yet, and probably won't unless I get really bored, but I did dig around its images for theme-ing purposes and figured I would check to see if what you wanted was easily doable.
install with
Code:
adb remount
adb push Rosie.apk /system/app/Rosie.apk
You should first back up your current Rosie.apk so that if this doesn't work, then you can go back to normal.
Code:
adb pull /system/app/Rosie.apk . (period denotes your working directory)
Edit: Also, this isn't really development related, it would go better in the themes section.

I said don't take the post offensively cause it wasn't meant to be an offensive post, I was looking for you to simply explain why you want something as minor as this removed. I wasn't directly meaning calling you "weird", but it seems I'm a douchebag (lol) for asking a question. I don't exactly see why you got so bothered by this. Quite funny to me, actually.

[Request] Clear lockscreen w/ rain drops on glass look.

Hey guys, i just wanted to see if anyone was up for the task of trying out somthing i would really love to see on my phone. I love the rain and rainy days and I would love to have a clear lockscreen that looks like it has a dew-ie like look to it. Anyone think that would be possible?
For clarification:
The look im going for is how your window looks like on a rainy day^^
This would be neat. I would have to learn how to make lockscreens. My new task.
this is what ive got so far, I need to adjust the colors a little but this is actually kind of tough because water is clear so I will work on it a little more when I get home tonight but feel free to try it out it's for 2.1 and flash it just like regular
this has to include the com.htc.resources so if you have any mods to your taskbar then this will change some of the icons.
I am not responsable if you mess up you mess up your phone.

I dont understand, why would that mess with com.htc.resources.apk when lockscreen_topedge.png is in HtcLockScreen.apk? That should be the only file you're messing with.

Because to get a completely clear lock you have to modify lockscreen_archglass_top, lockscreen_archglass_bottom, and I think its called lockbar.png which are all located in the com.htc.resources.apk otherwise you still get the bar/arch (depending on if you use espresso or regular rose) across the lockscreen

In 1.5 this was the case as all the images where stored in htclockscreen.apk>res>drawable 320x480 however in 21 they spread the png's for everything all over the place. That's why to get it completely clear you have to edit files in com.htc.resources.apk also because of the way 2.1 is set up it took like 2 weeks to figure out how to do it because the xml code had to be edited. If you think I'm wrong do it yourself the way you think. I was just trying to be helpful

Oh oh oh i just thought of it. how about the animation on a rainy day for the weather widget (not the actual animation, just the image it pops out). That look is perfect too, just without the windshield wiper.
Question, the lockscreen you made is just overlapping on a previous lockscreen picture i had before, how do i clear that one up?

if you where using a jpg or something like that then you need to go in and clear the lockscreen cache by doing this is adb
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /data/misc/lockscreen
rm *
cd /system/customize/resource
rm htc_wallpaper*
exit
then go in and flash the clear lockscreen

Rainy Day Wallpaper Rotary Lock
Here is a link to a MetaMorph for applying the "rainy day" wallpaper to the rotary lockscreen (textless version). I do NOT plan any making any other versions / iterations of this lockscreen, however, if you like this as is, please feel free to use / enjoy. This should be compatible with any 2.1 based Sprint ROM that has been deodexed.
XML Control File <--- Apply using the latest MetaMorph application
Your phone may freeze when applying, and when coming back up, the MetaMorph may not have fully applied. If this is the case, re-run MetaMorph, and select the 'framework-res' sub-theme, apply, and reboot.
Initial boot will take a while as your cache is rebuilt.

[THEME] Desire Notification Bar for CM-5.0.7-T3-N1

For the community because I couldn't find any around.
24/05 - An updated framework-res.apk ONLY for CM-5.0.7-T3 ONLY! Apply this asper instructions below and change the clock and notification text colour to your preference in the Spare Parts app. CM-5.0.7-T3 ONLY. The 3G icon fix by suffeks is included.
OLDER - An updated framework-res.apk and services.jar based on CM-5.0.7-T2-N1 with the black Desire status bar, Desire icons, semi-transparent pull-down menu (framework-res.apk) and white notification bar text (services.jar).
Edit: I don't intend to maintain this or turn it in to a theme or morph. I just threw it out there. Kang it.
1. Push or copy to /system/framework
2. Reboot
These files are based on test files! Expect them to change or break when you upgrade!

Fair enough on the section... even though it's compiled rather than a theme... I could have put it elsewhere. The mods are pretty friendly round here though, so no harm no foul.
Didn't mean to step on your territory either... I couldn't find a morph for 5.0.7 that didn't break services.jar. Sorry if I didn't look hard enough. I take no creative credit, nor do I intend to maintain, I just thought it filled a gap. Perhaps I was wrong. If this is the case the mods can delete.

can this be flashed via recovery?
or do i have to push the 2 files to the appropriate places via ADB?

Nice, been looking for just the bar.
Ok, stupid question time, I have adb set up on my laptop, but the power cord is fried, need to wait for the replacement to come in. Could I just use root explorer to copy the files over? I'm guessing I'd need to mount r/w first though.

Bug
This causes the market to FC every time it tries to install anything.
I've wiped and reflashed cyan 507 t2 and all is ok. as soon as i push servicer.jar and the framework-res.apk it causes market to FC when it tries to install...
Using Root Explorer kept putting me in a boot loop, the phone reboots as soon as I try to replace the framework-res file. I threw adb on my store's pc, got it working just fine that way, thanks for this.
@adam, go to settings -> applications -> Manage applications and go to Market. Uninstall updates, and everything should work fine.

Yes, colours, depth, size and transparency. In fact they're better optimised than the stock images. This was just a stop-gap until somebody releases a 5.0.7 morph or theme though.

[NEW ROSIE and TASKBAR] MT3G mod and Black Almost AOSP Taskbar

This is just a quick mod I had made for myself. But a few people had expressed some interest in it, so here it is. All thanks and credit go to jschisurf for creating the Rosie mod to begin with. This is simply my version of that mod with a black AOSP-like taskbar(I say that its almost because the location icon is different because I hate that target lookin thing). This isnt a theme really, so all the menus and colors are stock and green. I did, however, add the font and animations from the Darkstar theme just cause I like them better. Anyways, if you want it, here it is and enjoy.

I tried to flash this over IC3rom 2.2, and it worked except for the time and date. They font color is still black, which is now against a black taskbar so it's unreadable. Originally it used a white taskbar with black font, so is that my problem? Do I need to use a different rom for this?

I'll be the first one to tell you Im no coding expert. But I do know the way the slashes face are important. All you should do is this:
adb remount
adb push Rosie.apk system/app
That being said, I dont know what ROM and/or theme youre currently using but if you just push Rosie all its gonna do is give you the three buttons overlayed on your current set-up so I dont know how its gonna look. The black buttons aren't in Rosie.apk theyre in htc-resources.apk so if you want/need them then you'll just have to flash the whole zip. Or if you got some crazy **** goin on PM me.

Is it me or is the people button not working on the rosie

You dont need to switch ROMs. In my haste I neglected to account for the fact that someone might try and flash this over a white taskbar. Anyways, Ill upload a different version.

This is flash-via-recovery as opposed to metamorph, right? This looks.... AWESOME. Thans, gomorrah.
Got it flashed... is there a fix for the always-showing GPS icon?

If you notice, its just the satelite when gps is just turned off, and then the signal bars appear when you turn it on. The only way to fix it would be to change the location icon.

THANX... ive been working primarily on the BLUE one as its FOR ME...
I made the red just incase others wanted to go with verizons RED theme...
Ill be updating the RED one soon. Ive fully themed the blue, just need to hue them over to red.
I like the red better not because of Verizon just because it goes well with how my setup is
But good work it looks pretty solid for me
I'm more interested in the blue highlights than the customized indicator icons... can I push just the framework-res file? Or will it break without the modified com.htc.resources file?

Alot of the files are intermixed between the two...
what you CAN do, is download my version, open the apk with 7zip and extract just the files you want.
Pull your original from phone, open apk with 7zip, and drop the edited ones in.
Then repush to phone using instructions above!

I have seen a lot better. Barely blue needs a lot more work!
@Drukan,
Calm down, he is just expressing his opinion and not being disrespectful about it either. Let this be the last I have to see out of this issue. Play nice.
I am using the red theme but the red box around the phone icon at the bottom is too low....Can that be fixed?
Thanks!
** EDIT **
Nevermind....Just went back to stock.
@Drukan

No disrespect by telling me that something that has been COMPLETELY changed and edited, file for file, NEEDS WORK.. and by calling it BARELY blue... Which to me sounds like the opposite of the name i gave it....
YOU mister MOD.. can go #$%^&*()#$%^&*(. And on that note, ill will remove my links and take my WORK which "needs work" else where... where people give CONSTUCTIVE criticism not "IVE SEEN BETTER" criticism. And where mods delete thread that EXPLAIN to him and others WHAT exactly they are criticising!

Please let those of us who are following your good work where you might be moving this too. I for one really like your theme and have been using it since i saw your link in the dev forum. Thanks. I think it is rediculas how bad this xda forum is. This kind of stuff never happened at Modaco.com on winmo.
