I was wondering if anyone knew of such a thing (a download to enable camera flash even at low battery) or would be kind enough to provide me with one, I would be so grateful. I've tried searching around to no avail. Thanks in advance.
*Actually, or if anyone knows where in the settings I can change this at because I've went through everything I see and I can't find an option for it.
I need it too....
Last time i checked, this was in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery\
Change the 0 value to "FlashlightpowerUnavailable" : 1
Cheers

Hi there djet,
i tried to transfer both the files to the windows folder but i am getting this message: "be certain that there is enough free storage memory, that the destination is not write protected and that the file is not currently in use". Have you personally tried the method already?

All you need to do is to copy Camera.exe to \Windows folder. You are definitely doing it wrong. Try Resco's Explorer for file management.

Personally? The patch and the package are mine. Of course it works.
Thanks djet...worked this time (using resco's explorer).
i tried using the native file explorer yesterday which didn't work
EDIT++++
i tried the camera app and it didn't work. says that app may be right protected... i returned the original camera app and i got it to work. do i still have to do something on the replacement camera app before placing it to the windows folder?
thanks

What ROM are you using and what exactly is the message?
I am using the old ROM (1.48.707.2) WWE. I'm from the Philippines btw.
I'm sorry I forgot the exact message but it did say something like either the phone having not enough memory space (but I still have 78MBfree space) or installing a right-protected (certificate) file?

The patch is intended for 1.66+ Camera. Certificate checks must be disabled as the patched exe isn't properly signed.
i see. now i am going to have to be forced to upgrade my rom thanks

Is it possible to remove the CDFS partition (Verizon Mobile) without rooting the phone?
It is the company's phone, so no rooting for me but I would love to be able to use the TB as a USB stick on my JVC KD-AVX77 in the car. Right now it doesn't see any music and I suspect that's because of that CDFS partition.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I'd like to know this as well...
Bumping this up. Even if it requires root, would still like to know how to do it period, as I can't seem to find any info anywhere.
you have to delete a file and you need to be rooted to do so because it is a system file.
/system/etc/cdrom.iso is the file that needs to be deleted

The ISO is only about 6mb. However, after removing it, the CD drive still shows up when connected, just with no data. Any thoughts, or is this something a kernel dev/CM7(lol down with Sense!) is going to have to take care of?
In the programming menu the option was removed. Take the Incredible for instance, you could disable it, but not so on the TB for now. Unless someone figures out a way to change it Im out of ideas, but removing it worked for me.

Well at least removing it gets rid of the autorun prompt. Good enough for now, and I'm sure the CM team will figure it out.
Root here. Didn't work for me. I can't mount my sd card through my phone after deleting that file.
I did flash adrenalyn's 1.9 kernal some days before which may be the cause of my having a different result from others in this thread however I think it's a good idea to DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE ATTEMPTING!
or at least rename the file with a .old or .bak extension, whatever ya like... luckily I have the backup from before the kernal flash
would logcat be able to track down what's being accessed while the phone is mounting volumes while enabling disk mode?
Rather than removing it, I replaced it with an ISO of my own that has the Tether for Android setup exe and dmg, and a few other misc files I might need
I downloaded the netflix.apk that has been floating around, and with a few tweaks to my build.prop, I was able to get it to work on the galaxyXT ROM.
You have two choices, either download the attached build.prop file and stick in into your /system/ directory... or make the modifications yourself. FYI, please make a backup of the original build.prop before you mangle it.
I changed three lines in my build.prop. Just find these lines in your build.prop and change them to this:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/htc_vision/vision/vision:2.2.1/FRF91/277427:user/release-keys
Reboot, and that worked for me! If you have different experiences, please be sure to post them here.
FYI, If you make the changes yourself, make sure they are exact, case and everything. Use Notepad++.
Enjoy!
how/where do you access the /system/ directory? I looked on my SD card but cannot find.
thx

Not on your sd card.
It is in the /system/ Use Root Explorer or something like it.
It's in the phones internal memory, not on your sdcard. You would either need a file explorer with root access (e.g. Root Explorer) or you need to push it with adb.
tried using root explorer & it says the system files are read only...
Nevermind, clicked the R/W button & it allowed...
I'll try Netflix now after a reboot.
At the top of window while in root explorer you'll see a MOUNT R/W button, you need to toggle on read / write access.
Wow! Works Beautifully!

Sorry for the ignorance but what is it?
Streaming movie/TV service. Not everybody has it, but its a big deal for Android phones to FINALLY get it since iphone and Windows 7 phones have had it for a while.
I'm not sure, but there are several apk XDA of netflix, and other folders, I can not understand yet. Apk is installed, replace the buildprop and that would be enough? You may be able to give us the link to the apk please because in my market does not appear.
For the payment of subscription must be from the website or can be within the application?
The truth was unaware of this application, it looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
can someone share here the apk..tq

Hey I'm running stock 2.1 rooted on the xt720. I swapped out the build.prop you supplied in the .zip and installed numerous versions of the netflix clients to see if any would work. The apps installed fine but when I tried to open them (every single one) just opened to a black screen, then it force closed with a bunch of Japanese lettering. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Has anyone tried the new "stock" Netflix apk with the XT720?
I running the 1.20 APK, haven't seen an apk for the 1.21 yet, though I haven't gone looking yet either.
For those who dont know, there is a new updated S-voice out that is currently working on most devices. I'm sure it'll be patched soon as well, and the need to change the build.prop will arise again. In the meantime, this one DOES work

This was updated earlier today. Many users were having trouble with the previous build after Samsung blocked access to the application from other devices.

I'm getting Force Close every time I tell it to do something that app oriented, I'm assuming it's looking for Samsung applications? I fixed permissions with in root explorer , is there something else I'm missing. Still think its kinda pointless lol. I haven't a clue then lol, tried that as well, with no luck.
I copied that .so file from the .apk into the lib folder and it works now. It appears the only time that the app FC itself is when it tries to launch another app. I'm guessing probably because it is trying to look for the Samsung app.
Example - When I ask "Locate the nearest Mexican restaurant" or "What is the weather like today?"

where do I find the "systems/app" folder that you mentioned? I'm on a Mac and using the USB Mass Storage, but I don't see the systems folder.
any help will be appreciated.
You're going to need to use ADB with cmd line to push it as far as I know or have root enabled file explorer like ROM Toolbox and you will see system when you're in it, this app never worked when I pushed it to system for me just installed it like a normal app and rebooted phone

I updated my phone to4.4.1 today and ever since I haven't been able to open my music player 'Mixzing'. When I click on the App icon it goes to a black screen momentarily then back to the home screen without starting the app (this is the only app that it happens on)
I have wiped dalvik ect and deleted any folders that have 'mixzing' on and tried re-installing but nothing has helped.
Any ideas?
anyone?

I couldn't post my question on the corresponding Dev Thread for CM11 on i9300, but found this post for Nexus 5. Unfortunately without an answer.
I have the same problem (MixZing app doesn't open) on i9300 with CM11 nightly (Android 4.4.2). On CM10.2 (Android 4.3.1) it worked fine.
Have you found an answer somewhere else?

Same here, no solution yet.
I made a modded version of the mixzing app to get it to launch for me:
All I did was replace the following in com.mixzing.android.SdCardHandler.getCardId()
Code:
invoke-static {v10}, Landroid/os/FileUtils;->getFatVolumeId(Ljava/lang/String;)I
move-result v4
with
Code:
const/16 v4, 0xBEEF
You should use your own random number instead of BEEF since this effectively means that you are always returning the same value for getFatVolumeId as far as the app is concerned.
Can you explain this to the developer of MixZing? So they can update the original App.
Would be nice, thanks.

They have said that they know about it. They were just taking too long for my taste, so I did it myself instead.
If you can't wait I can post my modded version if you want, but I highly recommend doing the mod yourself rather than simply trusting that my posted version does not contain any malware. It's just a good habit to get into IMO.
Never modded an App. But I'm eager to learn. Any resource (document, blogpost, etc.) I should look into?

You can technically use a combination of 7zip (or another zip utility), smali, baksmali, and signapk to do this mod, however this is not the most user friendly way to do it. I would suggest using one of the following:
Here is one way, apktool (Linux, Mac OS, Windows): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195680
The other is Virtuous Ten Studio (Windows Only): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619473
*EDIT*
It is important to note that since this is not a system apk -- I.E. one that comes with the phone -- you will have to re-sign the apk after adding, removing, or changing any of the files inside. If it were a system apk, you could place the classes.dex file directly into the apk (which is secretly a zip file) without re-signing. (VTS does this for you automatically).
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Ok, decompiled it and found the lines you mentioned in a file called SdCardHandler.smali.
Before I change it I want to understand a little bit what I'm doing.
The method getFatVolumeId() returns the Id of a given Mount Point. It's a native method call which I guess causes the trouble here.
If I change it to a static value, does it do any harm? I mean I have an internal and external SD card. Does MixZing check both?
You should use your own random number instead of BEEF

Just some hex value I can think of? e.g. AEEF, CEEF, ABCD, ...
Couldn't wait, wanted to try anyway
Did the changes, compiled a new apk, signed it, but it doesn't install :crying:
When installing via the phone itself it just tells me that the App hasn't been installed.
When installing via ADB it get an INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE error. Need to figure out, how to fix this.

The problem is that on our devices, that native method does not exist, so we just arbitrarily use a value such that it always returns the same value (I.E. always the same card) As for the error, uninstall any applications signed by the same certificate as Mixzing was or sign your modded copy with debug keys, and it should install just fine.
*edit*
Other fun values:
DEAD, F00D, B00B, BABE, C0DE.
Thanks. A little research brought me to the packages.xml file. In there I found the shared user attribute for the MixZing Upgrader App. I was not sure if I want to edit the file. But after your tip I just uninstalled the Upgrader App and I could install the modded version.
Thanks a lot
Meanwhile they have fixed the App in the store.
I have installed MaclawStudio Kit Kat ROM (version of March 17th, 2014) in my Galaxy S2 Lite (a.k.a Galaxy S Advance).
Everything was running fine, but now with some months of usage I was fighting with low internal memory available, even though I have only a few apps installed.
I used Storage Analyser app to check where the pain point was an found out a big number of folders with the naming mmdsp-SIA_... in the data folder.
They contained the following files:
mem_sdram_data.data
mem_sdram_code.data
mem_esram_code.data
mem_tcm.data
metadata.txt
I could not find much information about this, but as the name folder contained a timestamp I imagine this is some kind of Short Dump memory information.
I deleted this folders, made free more or less 400 MB and so far the phone is ok.

Do you still have those kind of directories ?

And still no problems deleting them ?

Hello, sorry for the late response.
The folders appear again now and then. When I'm low on space I always check the data folder and if they are there I'll delete them.
No harm so far.
