I've noticed over the past few months that my nandroid backup or restore hasn't been working properly. I'm using amon ra's recovery and backing up like normal but when i restore and reboot it just loads the boot image and then there's a black screen. Anybody know what the problem is?

Here's my prob, flashed miui successfully and now I can't restore a nand backup, it goes through the motions but just goes back to miui. I think I might need red cwm
I saw that TWRP was updated to 2.3.3, so I first made a backup of boot and recovery partitions in TWRP and named the backup "recovery" with compression enabled. I then rebooted system to use Flash Image GUI and the device hung at the boot animation. I reflashed the kernel in fastboot, wiped cache and dalvik, and it still hangs. I can still boot into recovery (never actually updated). Do I need to reflash the ROM? Was running King Kang and b6.
Edit: Well ended up doing a full wipe restoring rom and tibu. Still no idea what happened though. Making a backup shouldn't mess anything up like this...

I am trying to restore a backup I made while on stock rom, I can restore the backup successfully but am stuck at the nexus logo on boot.
Only way to get my phone back is to wipe data/factory reset. Even if I just restore /data after wiping and booting the device I still get stuck at the boot logo.
Anyone got anything for me to try or have any similar experiences?
I am using TWRP 2.8.6.2 every time the phone boots it deletes the backup i have made, has anyone found any fix for this?
So, everytime I restore my backup with twrp, I always get some errors after restore.
Sometimes systemUI error, sometimes restore doesnt run successfully, etc.
I just want to know, is there actually a proper way to backup and restaore using twrp (like wiping things first, etc) or just directly backup and restore?
