[App Suggestion] Enable Music/Sounds through Non-A2DP Bluetooth Headsets - Nexus One Themes and Apps

I have a Plantronics 925 and Jawbone Icon. Neither support A2DP so I cannot listen to music or view a video through them unless I am on a call. On a jailbroken iPhone there is a little tweak that you can basically trick the bluetooth headset and it will play sounds/music/videos/etc through the headset without you having to be on a call.
I know that if a jailbroken iPhone can have this neat tweak/app then of course the powerful Android can too! . What do you guys think?
Update: Jawbone Icon now has A2DP thanks to a update released by Aliph. Thanks thatroots for the tip.

I would love to know this also.

U can update your Icon . new firmware supports ad2p.....works great on my N1

^^^
Can you explain your post, i don't quite understand it.

Wow I had no idea!!! Thank you so much!!!. I am in the MyTalk beta and they didn't even send me a email letting me know it was available... nor did I see it on any tech blog or news site. Updating now!!!

It works brilliantly on my Nexus! and I thought the whole "Appstore" for a bluetooth was gimmicky, boy was I wrong. Streaming Slacker Radio to it now and is working without a single hiccup.
There still has to be a way to this for Non-A2DP bluetooth's though.

himalaya a2dp ht820 CSR Cambridge Silicon Radio stack

Hi!
first, i'm sorry for my faulty english, but who cares...
lets try to sort things out, because some topics are really messed up
my challenge on the search for a full featured sw/hm setup for stereo music, headset, handsfree, voice command now lasts for about 2 weeks, and i'm still not satisfied . So i will post my impressions and problems here, perhaps we will find a satisfying solution
my hardware:
himalaya (xda II O2)
ROM 1.72.01.GER wm2003
RADIO 1.17.00
ht820 motorola headset
tweaks:
CSR Bt see (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33532&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=a2dp)
what i got done until now:
- a2dp profile works great, brilliant playback in my ht820
- 2 sec connection time on start, i can live with that
- no skips during playback, i can live with that too
- incoming call during playback: no problem ansering by pressing multifunction button on ht820, headset profile is activating
bad things:
- only functions with wmp, i can live with that
- doesn't resume playback after call, well i don't like that
- no guess how to enable ms voice command over ht820, thats sad
- playback buttons don't function, sad too...
so if you're a owner of a Himalaya (xda2, xdaII, mda2, don't know all it's names ) device post your comments, achievments, answers...
for you whe are annoyed of all the steps to enable bt stream music to headset, i wrote a mortscript to be placed on today screen to toggle ht820 on/off, i hope it may be useful, be aware you need SwichIt by Buzz_Lightyear (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=17476&highlight=switchit) installed for proper functionality. you may have to edit the mortscript to fullfill your needs (paths,....) with an editor like notepad .
ok thats all for now from me, look forward to some life on this topic
hey.. i got CSR stack with wm5.0 combo.. look at my review of it here.. http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,59/func,view/id,15228/catid,26/

yes, wmp is not that loud, thats true
i think it's pocketplayers preamp, perhaps there's some plugin for wmp , too, but i've never seen anything like that
can you use MS voice command with wm2005 and is it possible to use the headset for it?
ooo i havent been playing around with voice command yet. post the prog here, i'll try it out. or the link to it.

i guess its a beginning to solve the volume issue.
here you can download a demo of voice command, its one of MS produkts, that really functions , well i like it.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/voicecommand/default.mspx
I just installed a wm2005 image http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,59/func,view/id,14533/catid,26/ + crb stack
next previous buttons on ht820 function now but pause play button does not...
it also does not resume music after call, did you manage to solve those things?
i didnt install that rom on mine, but a previous one b4 that. giodata rom. everything works for me on windows media. jus that its not loud enough so not useful for me when on da bus. i use pocket player now when on da bus. i think itech blueband is louder but lack the music control. so u are saying that the 2.01 rom dont work fully?? im thinkin if i shoul flash to that. btw is windows media now louder after u use this rom?? compare it with pocket player for me. im thinking to upgrade to 2.01 or not.
VVGEO, you are the master of all things wicked and PHAT! I've been trying to get my bluetooth headphones working for 4 months! It works with excellent audio quality now! Thankyou for posting this.

hi ,,i installed the a2dp cab file got it working fine ,,but the only problem i have is it will only stream stereo audio from wmp ,,,which i find frustrating because i prefer winvibe,,or coreplayer instead,,

Yo,
Yes the renaming always works.
By the way, MortPlayer is far more better than any audio player(s) in the world, worthwhile to try.

BlueSTAR 2010 Module (Bluetooth OnStar Replacement)

Alright. Here's my new project, integrating CoStar Technologies' BlueSTAR 2010 module into my 2008 Pontiac G8 GT to work with my Nexus One.
http://www.costartech.com/pb/products/bluestar.html
I was going to wait for the car dock but what could be better than pushing a button on my steering wheel/rear view mirror and using the voice search function of the Nexus One? Not sure if I'll get system wide voice search, I kind of expect it to only work with the voice dialing functions of the phone but either way I'm really looking forward to it. From my understanding the A2DP streaming isn't fully functional yet but that will be really sweet once they get that part implemented. I'll keep everyone updated with how it goes and also provide some pics and videos. These devices are supposed to work in all 2002 & up GM vehicles that have OnStar.
I am getting ready to order one too for my G8, gonna use it with the G2.
From what I see on their twitter posting, they are beta testing writing the caller ID to the DIC, so might get that soon as an update.
Hope it works as well as advertised.
Any updates on these projects? Interested for my Impala
I gilot mine and installed it. Only works with built in voice dialer from HTC. Looks like the voice search app does not publish itself as Bluetooth.
The device works great but the voice dialer can be finicky.
Have not found a solution yet, but can tell you Vlingo does not work well through bluetooth.
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
good luck...............
They released an update. It now has caller ID on the DIC.
Now if only the voice dialer worked better on the G2
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
Works decently in my g8, recently switched to an evo and still works great with cm7, a2dp soon
I am pretty sure the problem is the phone. The G2 uses HTC's default voice dialer instead of Google's voice control, and it is just not as accurate.
Will the audio work through the bluetooth to the stereo to listen to music?
No..
the Onstar integration is calling only.. the module has a 1/8" jack thatallow you to plug into an aux port.
Given that there is no bluetooth stereo streaming that remotely sounds as good as a wire, its better to connect the phone w a cable..

Listen to music using mono Bluetooth Headset

Hello!
I´m planning to buy a mono ("one-ear") BT headset to get my calls on the go, but I´d also like to listen to my musics on it.
I´ve done some research on google about any hack or program that would let me do this, however I don´t know if these programs work on WM 6.5, because they´re a little old.
Has anyone tried or is still using a program that works on nowadays cellphones (like Touch HD)? I just need this to buy a mono BT headset.
The programs I´ve heard of are: Bluetooth Audio v1.0, BlueAudio, BlueMusic.
Thank you very much in advance!
BlueTooth Audio 1.0 works with 6.5/6.5.x.
This is not a software release and does not belong in this category. See "Questions".
Moved as not software release.
Sorry for posting in the wrong area.
I´m gonna buy the BT earphone and tell if it worked.
Thanks!
It should definately work if you get BlueAudio3 as I use it every day Rollerblading with a mono bluetooth (SE HBH-PV740). Have fun!

[APP][3.0+] Around Sound - Have your phone pay attention while you enjoy your music

Update (4/11/2017): Updated the app to use the Superpowered audio library. Performance is greatly improved. Lag is pretty much gone.
This was my first app and recently just overhauled it with a lot of the updates I had been doing to Wave Control. I've decided to take this out of incubation in the device specific forums and put it fully out there. All feedback is appreciated!
Around Sound allows you to listen to music, watch movies, or play games and still be aware of your surroundings. It's meant for when you're using sound isolating earbuds like Shure or others that are basically earplugs so you have no idea what's going on around you.
It uses the mic on your headset or phone to listen around you. You set how loud a noise needs to be to trigger it. When a loud sound is detected, it pauses your music or movie for a timeout period. During this time, it feeds the outside sound through to your headphones so you can hear what's going on. After the timeout period it then resumes playback.
With games, you can use the non-pause mode which will overlay the outside sounds on top of the current audio. Usually the game audio will lower itself during this time. I would really like for games to support the pause feature. I've reached out to some developers but need everyone's help to request the feature be added to their favorite games.
Play Store Link:
Free Version
Some known issues:
1. Audio lag - when the outside sound is fed through there's about a 500ms delay. It's a known issue with Android. It's rumored to have been fixed in Jelly Bean (or there's some low level API's available to fix it) but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Finally fixed! Practically realtime now!
2. Bluetooth Mic Option - Currently only works with mono headsets and not the AD2P kind, adds lag
Some use cases:
- At the office: pause your music automatically when someone is trying to get your attention
- At home: Don't miss door slams, children crying, your dog barking, or other warning signs

- At the airport: Relax at the gate and have your music or movie pause when the gate announcements start

- Anywhere relatively quiet where you want to know if something happens around you
Permissions Needed:
Network Communications: Full Internet Access (For Ad Supported Version)
Phone Calls: Read Phone status (shuts off the audio processing during calls)
Hardware Controls: Audio Settings, Record Audio (to use the microphone, no audio is ever stored)
Coarse Location(Not GPS): For Ad Supported Version
Write External Storage: For Ad Supported Version
Billing: For in app upgrades
Bluetooth: For Bluetooth mic feature
Broadcast Sticky: For Bluetooth mic feature
Limitations:

-For Pause Music Mode: You can't be in a really loud environment otherwise the microphone input will be maxed out and there is no way to detect a louder sound. Use Street Mode instead
Developed on a Samsung Galaxy S7
I played with this a bit in a few of its earlier incarnations and I have to compliment you on the app. One thing I've wondered -- instead of muting the underlying app, would it be possible to play what the microphone picks up over the top of whatever being played?

i guees that is not possible ...hardware limitations
anyway if it is...would be a great addition
I hope someone can explain this to me. I'm not doubting it's a hardware limitation, I just can't understand what sort of hardware limitation it might be.

Yeah, it's possible. If you uncheck pause mode, it'll play over the other app. The way it's setup now, depending on the playing app, the music/movie might dip in volume. Alternatively there's Street Mode in the Pro Version that will play all sound above the trigger on top of your music/movie.

Woo hoo! Cool, thanks! Pro, here I come.
Any idea when you think you might be able to look into that lower latency JB API?

This is so genius! Installing now!
I bought Pro this morning and used it on my walk. Worked like a charm!
It was pretty bright out and my screen couldn't brighten enough to let me see the trigger slider. A suggestion: how about adding +5 and -5 buttons so I can adjust the trigger level without having to see the slider? I don't mean remove the slider, I mean add +5 and -5 buttons.
Got the pro just to support the Dev. Great idea and great work. Keep it up man!

any news on the bluetooth issue as i have bluetooth headphones and there not mono and was wondering if it work well or not with em?
Wow...this is great. Thank you.
I like the sound of this (No pun intended) but I've only got bluetooth stereo headphones with a mic. so I'll have to wait until it supports them.
App2SD would be nice ...

I don't have a set to test it with but I've gotten mixed feedback. Some stereo ones do work and some don't. Or.. it may be a particular phone's bluetooth implementation since it seems more like a bug in Android than a headset specific issue.
Please give it a try and let me know if it works!
Will this save me if I end up in the middle of a shoot out, and I have in noise canceling headphones? As bizarre as that sounds... I'm paranoid lol

So after un-intentionally (really, I swear!) ignoring my girlfriend while playing a game, I realized... I could use Around Sound with games.
So far the non-pause mode works pretty well with the games I play. I'm reaching out to some other developers to include the ability to pause when asked by Around Sound.
I need people's help to request their favorite game dev's to support auto-pause with Around Sound
