Stock rooted Roms are in that thread, as well as Enom's heavily customized add on.

I know this already thats why I started this thread in case there is any interest in rooting this particular piece of hardware/software. I bought a Rogers magic that already has the latest update and I found out quickly there is no way to root it yet.

It's just so easy to search, and there's getting to be too many threads on the exact same thing. I also wonder, how hard is it to make a complete sentence? If it's too hard to do that, wouldn't it be too hard to do most of the things here?
Just my thoughts.

I couldn't agree more! Kind and generous people take the time to answer these questions in depth. Then someone new expects them to regurgitate it because they didn't bother to even look first. Typically the number one rule of all forums is to browse and search first, people should know better! Only start a new thread for help if you have a new/unique situation that you couldn't locate by yourself.

and because i know you are getting angry from nobody giving you a straight answer, there is no stock kernel that you can just flash so get creative and figure it out... if you cant figure it out then you shouldnt be flashing things on your phone...
it took me all of 10 seconds to find it. what is it that prevents people from searching for more than 5 seconds??????

you spend the time to find it, yet you don't post the link. I just don't understand some people.
I've searched and couldn't find it. I'm looking for the kernel NOT the ROM.

he's looking for the original stock froyo kernel that came with the stock rom, not a kernel FOR froyo. he didn't say anything about downloading kernels from manufacturers either.
anyways, there is not a flashable stock kernel for download. go download a stock nandroid restore or stock rom and get your needed files (i believe boot.img? im not sure) extracted from there
maybe it's just me, but I feel like the thread is heading in the wrong direction because people who didn't read OP's questions clearly and replied, and on top of that there are a lot of unnecessary comments from both sides. But I mean, imagine if you made a thread asking for help and people simply reply telling you to search when it's not even there the first place. pretty annoying isnt it?

where else would a stock kernel come from? i'm pointing out the fact that when a phone is released and an image is dumped, how often do you see a kernel along with it? we usually get stock rom and baseband.
If he would have looked and take the time to read through the dev section he could have thought.... "hmm I could flash the original STOCK nandroid which contains the STOCK KERNEL or I can flash this one, faux123 LGE STOCK FROYO KERNEL" but instead he comes here and asks for a link....gime, gime, gime!
The op he states "I'm looking" but he is not looking.

the horrible search engine set up here. it isnt very good and needs to be redesigned and reworked. and having to wait 30 seconds between attempts just causes people give up/impatience (which we all have) and go post.
i dont have the kernel. i have been looking for it for a while and didn't find it in the dev section. not the completely stock kernel for foryo anyways. please post?? if you guys would and help us all out please?

They could just have an error screen explaining why they can't post. Let them know they have to be a member for certain amount of time, or there could even be a kind of peer review, where existing developers can vouch for the new member.

I thought this was already the case.
Questions like this should be asked in the Q&A forum. Period.
Also, one should spend time reading the first 1-2 pages of each forum, ESPECIALLY sticky threads before posting. It is obviously clear that the original poster did not spend ANY time reading.
I was a noob once too - but I took the time to do my research and spent an evening or two browsing threads and learning when I first flashed my HTC Tilt. Same for when I bought my Tilt2. Same for when I bought my Huawei S7, and same for when I bought my Infuse and Tab 10.1.
The "teach a man to fish" proverb applies here. If you just handhold a user, they will never learn anything. If you force them to spend some time reading threads, they'll start learning how to educate themselves and learn a new device without asking questions about stuff that is widely documented.

That's no excuse! I've been in this game for years and have learned almost everything I know simply by reading. If I can do it so can the noobs. Period. This guy deserves everything and anything he gets. I'm with Entropy. They must be forced to learn!
I'd say "ok guys back to topic" but instead I'll say "crap, here comes Neo again!"
Agreed.
A bit of reading would help everyone. Generally speaking, most questions have probably been asked before and even if they haven't; it is best to search anyway because you might stumble across the answer.
I'm all about being helpful, but constantly coddling people while they do the wrong thing isn't helping anyone. I want us to have a large user base so that our development continues to expand, but not just so that we have a lot of ignorant people running around posting the same thing over and over without doing a bit of searching.
It isn't as if this post was some desperate call for help because their phone stopped working after installing a ROM. It was just someone being lazy.
