this is a very nice player which plays divx movies

For people having problems to download this file: Try another browser instead of Internet Explorer.
I could download it with Firefox, but when I tried to download it at a friends place with IE, it failed.
So I tried it at home with IE, also problems.
Tried it again with Firefox: No problem
have no problem downloading it with IE7..
you should ditch firefox. its the most sucky browser there is.. go check Opera if you insist on having a better browser as this is the only one better then IE7.

I hope you're joking! IE7 is terrible. Firefox is vastly superior and can be customised nicely! Opera is great on the PC (Not a huge fan of it on the PPC though); If you want speed, Safari is what you need!
Regarding the Dixv player, there is a slightly newer version available HERE

I just tried this out and was very surprised to note that it played a full size 700 mb movie as well as Coreplayer with "QTV Display". I was only expecting it to be as good as "directdraw" on coreplayer, slow and jittery.
Has anyone tried this program with the TV Out cable? I wonder if it would still have the blue flicker reported when using Coreplayer and TV Out.

Great, I hope it works. Based on the reviews on Coreplayer and it's TV Out, I'd kind of lost hope on video performance for this phone.
I installed it and got a message that it is outdated and go to mobile.divx.com to get the updated player. The problem is that it requires a login and gives no option to "join". How can I get the updated player??

I have a TV-out cable, and I can confirm that the Divx player doesn't have any blue flicker like Coreplayer.
i dl'd the file and it said i installed the wrong file even though i installed the right cab file.
Thanks Guys,
I think the link should have been Here instead.
How long does it run for before it expires?

Awesome. Can someone confirm the video quality over TV Out with this program? The two questions I have specifically are the following: Does the processor slow down any further when exporting via tv out - or does the tv out hardware take over? Also - when exporting to a widescreen tv, does the image stretch to the right aspect ratio, or does it only get wide making the image look fat?
Sorry P0ll0L0c0 unable to confirm TV Out performance as I don't have a cable, I can confirm that the app's not bad, it does however reset your backlight settings to 5 mins on battery and 10 mins on power but forgets to return them to original settings on exit.
Other than that, good work.
D.
got my pro and the tv-out cable today.
from what i can say is that the divx player sucks big time
coreplayer is the one to go for. but yes, i also have that blue flickering when using qtv. any fix for it already? still using the o2 stock rom if that matters.

I guess it must depend on the file. I've got a 700 mb copy of Hellboy that plays just as good on the divx player when compared to coreplayer using qtv. Since qtv doesn't work with tv out due to the blue flicker, the divx player has the advantage in my opinion.
I'm now tempted to buy a tv out cable to see how good output will be - but I think they're overpriced right now.
The Divx player stutters with every avi file I've tried on my device. Core player on QTV setting is by far the best (although you get the blue flicker on TV-Out). It's not too bad on the Direct Draw setting when using TV-Out, watchable.
Hopefully the next release of Core Player will solve this issue.
Guys I just chimed in on this thread. I just got my 8gig card and now I want to try out a movie on my phone. I have the latest version of TCPMP installed on my phone. Should I go with the Coreplayer you guys have been talking about on this thread? Also I don't understand what you guys were talking about in using the tv out input etc... I am switching from a Palm Treo to the Pro and I am trying to use this phone for all it's worth. Please help me. Thanks!!!!

seems like u can either use coreplayer or the divx player on our devices. There is just a conflict weather it works with our phones TV/out. (Our phones can output video to a TV with a special cable)
im interested in this. Installing the divx player now to test some 700mb movies.

Hey all,
the attached TCPMP works on HD2 without the need to change any settings .
Just install and enjoy it.
the attached version is 0.72RC1
All credits goes to the software developers, I've only added the required registry values
There're two version attached, one of them supports subtitles while the other one doesn't

You can put it in the same folder with your movie, and make sure it have the same file name (only the extintion .srt)
press options, subtitles, open (and choose your file, if it doesn't load by default with the movie)
GREAT work! thank you, worket right out of the box
Great! But still slower than CorePlayer. After fresh soft reset says 500MHz...
If only CorePlayer supported AC3 and .srt

hello!i have TCPMP VERSION SUBTITLE EDITOR 0.81RC1 BETA and its working great with subs....try to update fellas....
Of the two TCPMP versions attached higher up, I haven't yet tried the version that is supposed to support subtitles, but have tried the first one. Comments on that:
1) While the default settings do certainly work they are not optimum (IMO). You will get better picture quality if you go into Options/Video and activate Dither, then "smooth zoom always" rather than "smooth zoom 50%". You will get substantially better performance if you then go into the DirectDraw settings page, choose "YUY2" as your overlay format, leave "use device stretching" checked, and uncheck the other two boxes.
2) The version of TCPMP I normally use is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3275845&postcount=172. Compared to the first of the two versions attached to this thread (and, as I said, I haven't yet tested the second) it is a lot faster. On a sample 512x384 .avi clip, the version in this thread (with all of the quality and speed settings mentioned above) benchmarked at 209%. The version I just gave you a link to gives me 262%. I have never attempted to get subtitles working with it, so I don't know about that aspect.
Thanx so much, I had big problems with running this great application on my HD2. But according to this trick in settings:
1) While the default settings do certainly work they are not optimum (IMO). You will get better picture quality if you go into Options/Video and activate Dither, then "smooth zoom always" rather than "smooth zoom 50%". You will get substantially better performance if you then go into the DirectDraw settings page, choose "YUY2" as your overlay format, leave "use device stretching" checked, and uncheck the other two boxes.
everithing is fine right now.
Hi
Can anyone confirm whether this TCPMP will play MPEG2 files? I've been looking for something to play the MPEG2 video files exported from PlayTV on my PS3 for ages!
Cheers
Jim
Thank you! Works great and upscaling is ok
One question to any developer - will there ever be any possibilities of an upgraded UI? All my buttons are black on black backdrop and the sliders look very much PPC2002...
This is not in any way a display of me being ingrateful - just hoping for HD2-worthy eye candy

Yes, it does look like that. I asked roughly the same question two posts up
Well, i bought my HD7 a month ago and still loving it. But while using it, i have found several problems with the OS. I have no idea it is bug or not.
- I have the Zune Application (run on Windows 7 Professional x64) convert and sync a video that i have alread added a subtitile to it. But i don't see any subtitile run when i play the video on my HD7
- About the Image Quality when syncing to the device, kind of worse than seeing it on computer
- Could we do multi-tasking on WP7?I can't not shut down the IE Mobile Totally.
Sorry if i make any mistake in English

- I don't think WP7 supports subtitles yet. Hopefully it's coming.
- HTC's image quality is considered to be one of the worst, and the HD7 shares this problem.
- There is no multitasking yet. The only way to 'close IE completely' is to close all of the open tabs.

ohh the sub thing...
see...my guess is you soft subbed it. You have to hard encode your subs, and they will show up quite nicely. Thing is if you have a subtitle file, you can use any video converter to convert using xbox 360 settings.
However, what I've done with lots of success is
-I have a mkv (like psg episode).
-I convert using anything to psp converter to resize the image and convert it to mp4.
-pull the subtitle track
-hard encode sub

There is a setting in the Sync Settings in Zune that allows you to specify whether you want your pictures to be resized when they are synced to your phone. I believe the default is to resize to fit the phone's screen, but you can override that and ask it to retain the original picture resolution. Although you are probably better off leaving it as reducing the pic size saves a lot of space on your phone.

Im not pretty sure, but i would say u can use mkvtoolnix for everything regarding mkv files.
I really was into x264/mkv-encoding 2-3 years ago, but kinda cant remember everything.
But mkvtoolnix always was best way to go!

@kabumm: thanks, i will it a try.
Thought I'd make a thread for things that do work well on the Sensation and may make people stick to this phone until the other issues are resolved.
DLNA function: I spent a few hours putting my Samsung TV on my network and I can send video, pics and music direct from my phone to my TV via Wifi from anywhere in the house and its very very good. I have a film in AVI and it steamed perfectly.
Forward SMS to email: I think this is in 2.3.3 anyway but useful when phone it unusable like at some work places.
Built in streaming: I can scan music, videos and pics from a file server and play them on the phone directly with no additional software.
Lexar 32 gig MicroSD Class 10: Definitly works fine in this phone. Check Amazon
Built in slideshow as wallpaper: I like having different background images randomly and this is good for that. Point it at a folder full of images (I have a folder full of downloaded landscapes, sea, etc., type images specifcally for this. It replaces the need for things like Wallpaper Rotator. Only snag is that it changes the images every 30 seconds or so so it maybe CPU intensive (doesn't seem to be though). I'd rather it was hourly but can't see anywhere to change it.
Please add others as you find them.
Lockscreen icons and lockscreen animations: I like having weather animations or my photos spinning around under the lock screen, looks cool. Also being able to change the lock screen icons does make that feature quite handy

If your streaming server is any good it can transcode .mkv on the fly to something the phone can play.
I'll go try it with an MKV file right now...bear with me, wife has the remote
I am using Windows 7 as the media server, btw
No good with MKV. None of the players on my phone will play it natively even though my Samsung TV plays them fine from a hardrive or memory stick. On my phone I have Divxplayer (or demoplayer) and moboplayer and they wont play it on the phone itself, let along anywhere else. Need a player that supports these. I think the Desire used to play MKV with Divxplayer but I don't think it likes the Sensation resolution.
Anyone any ideas?
