Heres the Swype keyboard that should be compatible with the Incredible. Haven't tested it but seems as some people got theirs early...here is it.
MOD EDIT FOR WAREZ
EDIT:I fixed how it was downloading as a .dat file. It now downloads as an .apk. Enjoy.
Thanks
Thanks for this!
Another thanks.
Extension?
I downloaded the file and there is no extension. Is this a .zip, .rar, .apk ?
I have my Incredible and the file I got from Android Central does not work. Says my resolution is invalid. Hoping this one will fare better.
It's an apk. Just install it like you would an apk. Put it on your SD card, then use linda file manager to navigate then just click it and select package installed. Then go to local and text or whatever in your main phone settings. Select swype. then in the text field long click and select input method then swype.

Done and Done... I use Astro though. It works just great. Thank you!
Is there a way to make the swype keyboard for portait and keep the sense keyboard for landscape?
I don't think so...

When I try to download I get a .dat file instead of .apk. Any advice for directions?
It downloaded as a .dat, so I just renamed the extension as an .apk and it worked fine with Astro.
My only problem is that it won't let me use it! I checked the Swype box, and it worked in the tutorial, but if I go anywhere else (Search, Messaging, etc.) it's just the stock Sense VK.

Yeah but you don't have to be as accurate with Swype as with a conventional keyboard.
Any ideas on making Swype the universal default?
EDIT: Never mind, I got it to work after tap-n-holding a text box and selecting Swype.
I feel like I'm the only person who doesnt like swype. I dont know what it is. :/

the stock keyboard uses approximation.. so if you hit G and you meant F it will use the one that makes more sense... and also give you the other as an option in the suggestion field... it works very nicely for a tap.. there is 2 swype type keyboard in the market also.. shapewriter is good for free also... I think the swype dictionary may be alot bigger though
Actually with the touchscreen on the incredible it reads finger nails stylus normal finger and gloves. Haven't tested stylus or gloves but finger nails work 100% Try it. It's insane.
And swipe works awesome. This phone is ten times better then the omnia. Get it. **** the Samsung junk.

Working great for me on 2.1 Darch Legend V.5.
You need to install the .apk, then go into settings >> keyboard >> enable swiftkey
Next you need to go into swiftkey settings and download a language pack.
After all that, long press on a text entry box and select SwiftText.
So far it is pretty great at predicting what I am about to type in 2 letters or so. I love Swype..but I am willing to give this a try for awhile.

I have not had any problems using it on DamageRegaw ROM. I think I downloaded straight to phone from the email link I received and then just installed using ES file explorer.
I hope that helps. Word prediction on this keyboard is interesting.

thats just it there is no box to enable it. nor is there one for the stock android one or the htc keyboard. they are all lined up but no enable. tried to reset after i installed and phone locked up so dont think it will work on dc v2 or maybe its just the damagetrev im running which is a faster version of dc v2
Eh, its better then stock, but once you try swype, its hard to type with anything else. If only swype had the voice thing like stock android, that would be awesome
OMFG!!! that looks awesome. so here's the question, if i want it how hard is it to try and then if i don't like it how hard to get rid of it?

I'm faster with Swype than a physical keyboard. I have installed it for two G1 owners recently after they got a hold of my phone.
No problems with darchlegendv5 I tested by just pushing space and if typed this " up to the business of Parity shall be liable for the use of the individual or entity to which it is a bit of a man they are trying to trace in connection with the word. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person." Exactly what I wanted to type. Crazy smart keyboard, but I think it's pretty nice thus far just a little slow.

How is it compared to Smart Keyboard Pro or Better Keyboard?
my two requests for it are for someone to fig out how it to use the stock dictionary and get vibrate to work! then this would be best keyboard ever.
What is the major benefit to a multi-touch keyboard? Can it actually keep up with my crazy quick typing now?
Would be perfect with working haptic feedback.
yup that is all it needs.

Agree with the dictionary suggestion.. not crazy about the size of the letters or the combo. /, button next to the space bar. I'll try it out for a bit and see how it goes. Seems pretty good otherwise and multitouch works as it should. Thanks op for posting this.

FYI, some can use this and some can't because it requires libraries from the stock Android keyboard, which Sense-based ROMs usually don't have.
To use, just install the vanilla Android keyboard first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5874235#post5874235
Then install the APK for the Droid X keyboard. You can either push it to /system/app or just click on it in your file manager like a normal apk.

So is this a patch that needs to be flashed over the original file or is it the entire keyboard and everything? just so i know for future reference since i flash new roms all the time, dont want to be flashing two keyboard files if i dont have to.
Looks like the BlindType technology/code/whatever definitely has not been implemented? At least not yet.
Yes I am running the word prediction fix, but the text input in the BlindType promo video does not even come close to being recognized with this keyboard.

Wow, this keyboard is fantastic.
some way to work in predicting other languages, such as
Spanish?
Can we use this on the MT4G ROM that Evil made? Or is it only CM6.1?
Thanks a lot for sharing the fixed version! I just flashed it in Recovery (without uninstalling anything) and it worked like a charm.
My reaction:
Better than the Froyo keyboard by a fair amount, but by no means mindblowing. I bet on a slightly larger screen it will be the bee's knees. I kind of miss the swipe-up to display numbers/symbols and am still getting used to losing another line of screen real estate to the permanently-visible line of punctuation marks, but it will definitely be more useful.
Aside from pressing and holding the keys marked with a number, is there any other way to entire a string of numbers consecutively? I tried holding the shift key and tapping on numbers, but that only seems to cycle between shift-modes.
And finally, I think in the Gingerbread thread someone joked that the keyboard looks like it's Halloween themed. I'm inclined to agree
Overall-- pretty swell!
Tried on MIUI rom, it seems definitely less impressive than what I thought it was going to be. No more sliding up :/ no multi-touch :/ and not a big improvement on fast typing errors. But I really like the colors! Maybe it just doesn't work very well because it's on froyo and MIUI?
I lost my Swype when i flashed the HK rom, now that i reinstalled, i have this tiny keyboard. it sucks. Is anyone using Swype, and where did you get it?
please see attached pic. (coming soon)

I have the same problem when I uninstall the pre-installed Swype and install in the beta. However, on the beta, it only gives me 2 Honeycomb options. WTF!
I just used Titanium Backup to extract Swype from my Galaxy Note. I've uploaded it to one of those file download sites and here's the download link. I haven't tried installing it, since I don't want to uninstall it first. Let me know if it doesn't work.

is anyone in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore or Vietnam with the galaxy note? can you post me you libswypecore.so and swype.apk
I used to pray for swype on every phone i had, but got sick of the fact there was no market download for phones that didnt have it preinstalled, no upgrades for phones that had it preinstalled, and beta versions that expired.
I found TouchPal keyboard in the market, I now prefer it to Swype (has same swype features etc..) Everything that swype is and more...
(Even seems to be faster than swype on older phones incase you have one)

never mind.. i ripped it out of one the firmwares
So I guess the Galaxy Note registers as a Honeycomb device on Swype's downloader site.
Honeycomb swype is a disaster in of its own, because they failed to realize that white on a light alice blue & light baby blue background (for word options, when choosing possible stroke interpretation) is hard to see.
And on a Galaxy Note, this disaster is intensified because the keyboard is tiny, making it harder to see and tougher to use.
However, I need the beta because the beta contains Chinese characters. I need those.
Anyone have any ideas how to go about getting a recent Gingerbread Swype Beta?
Can I just re-install the Swype that comes with the Note, then replace the libswypecore.so in the default swype with the from the libswypecore.so in honeycomb?
Anybody have any other suggestions?
Oh, I see. Swype said phuck the galaxy note.

That's weird. At the bottom of the page, they say "*WXGA resolution is only supported for devices running Android Honeycomb (3.0) or later". But our WXGA Notes clearly come with Swype preinstalled on Gingerbread. They clearly already did the work and have what's needed, why not support it on the beta? That's lame.

personally I prefer "ultra keyboard" than swype.
it has the swyping function plus loads of customizing options includes:
# make your own colour theme for the keyboard.
# adjust the size of keys and keyboard.
# have both number keys and arrow keys on the same keyboard as the letters..etc
^^ THIS! Thanks for the tip! The only problem I have with it is that it eats up like 60% of the screen in the landscape mode and even more with the tool bar opened! And thats with the shortest hight chosen.. Do you happen to know any solution?

yeah...the only downside of it is the size of the keyboard is quite big in landscape....I don't think any settings change can make any difference...must be a density problem...
I don't usually type in landscape anyways...I usually swype it in portrait mode.
Maybe you can try and make the keyboard a bit more transparent?!

I've built a flashable zip with new swype for Note, with Dragon voice input. I can share it when I get home.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Edit:
Here it is: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7655681/Swype.WXGA.v3.26.92.37556.En.CWM.zip
I remember that hacked swype builds are forbidden here. If I violate any rules, feel free to remove the post. However, this one isn't hacked, all I did with original package was:
Removed all languages except English - everyone can download all the rest needed in swype language settings.
Removed all resources except for 1280x800.
Extracted libs from apk and put them for extract to system/lib path.
