I think you can use that app "Better Cut" to change icons on apps.

Thread closed, as it served no real purpose
Hi,
i love the stock android rom. Actually im using stock GRI40.
The only thing i miss, is the HSPA icon differentiation.
Is there a possibility to just change this?
Thx
yes custom ROMs
or you can theme it yourself if you know what to edit on the framework
ok, using a custom rom would solve my problem, i know
to be honnest, i just want to have this "H icon" and nothing else...
I'm not into " theming and modifying", so i thougt someone else perhaps could have done that already.

In the development section you can find a stock 2.3.3 deodexed ROM which will allow theming (you can't theme on stock ROMs because of Odex files which are removed in a DEodexed rom ). If you don't want theming you don't have to use it but you absolutely cannot get the HSPA icon on a stock rom. It has to be deodexed and themed or using a ROM that has it natively (like CM7 which btw looks like stock gingerbread and is fiercely stable).

Well that is not entirely true. It is not completely stock which the op is asking for. The debloated rom does not have the tw launcher and I think it has an aosp lockscreen as well. So even if the op "searched" as you say to do, they will find nothing to give them the stock tw experience...

Hey Nitro (Hi-5 Brutha)
Download the Debloated 4.2.1. It is Stock but without the Verizon standard apps that you have to pay money for. Complete with PuzzleLock and Glass lockscreens and full TouchWiz.
here is the list

You can't have both "debloated" and "completely stock" -- that's a contradiction.
imnuts' ROM is debloated but still has the stock theme, however, and that's the closest you'll get.

On the other hand, if you want "completely stock," but simply deodexed, this is what you want:

This is the one I am running, specifically the deodexed rooted one. You can use Titanium Backup (or similar) to freeze or uninstall what ever YOU consider to be bloat.

I went with option 2 simply because the 3rd option has an older rooted kernel in it. I figured it would be better to go this way and then install the newest PBJ kernel, which would then then do the voodoo lagfix. However, it probably doesn't matter either way.

I actually used QtADB to backup the non-needed apps to a folder on the SD card followed by uninstalling them. Just another option, which I find a bit easier than trying to do it on the phone. It doesn't affect the outcome, it's just personal preference. In the end, I prefer to debloat my own ROM by taking out the apps that *I* want to rather than installing a different ROM. This way I get go choose exactly what I want and what I don't want, rather than letting someone else decide for me.

I'm in a 4G area, so the phone is rarely on 3G. That being said, my battery life has been quite good in 4G. Based on my definitions:
Light usage - 20-36 hours
Moderate usage - 14-18 hours
Heavy usage - 8-12 hours
I just installed the new EP4 Debloated, Deodexed, and Rooted ROM and I don't have the TouchWiz Task Manager. I'm wondering if someone can post the APK for it.
I take a look after I get off work and see if I can find it.
One of the roms I've ran had a link with all the Samsung Widgets they took out. I wanna say it was in there. But it was listed on the first post. May browse thru all the rom OP's and look for the download
maybe this is it. just unzip and install apk
Edit......I'm pretty sure this is it
Somebody downloaded it......was that it

It worked for me, thanks
dont install it, just place it in /system/app
whoever debloated took it out. always better to use a bloated and use titanium to debloat yourself.

Why is it "always better"??
I recently installed the debloated/deodexed version of the latest leak and I love it.
That task manager was really the only thing I missed and it took about 10 seconds to install it.

I used the term always better in the sense that you have full control over what stays and what doesn't. Debloated roms are great, but they aren't always a reflection of what a user truly wants or may need from a rom.
Anyone get this to work with ics? It's the only thing I miss from touchwiz.
Yo, ... I see a lot of trash ROM's for this phone. They all seem to have bugs. Is there a ROM out there that takes out the bloat and will allow me minor customization?
Or, can you point me in the right direction to a ROM that allows me to USE all the FEATURES my phone has.
(What good is ROM if you can't use SMS message?)
Thanks!

Sure, if you don't want custom rom, your best bet is Stock FP1 bloated with just root. Then download ICS theme/locker (or what ever theme you like, even eclipse theme) and use Go launcher EX from the market. This will give you trouble free and stable phone.
THANKS!

I stopped reading after this. If you think they're trash, why don't you try making a ROM yourself?
