I have been searching everywhere and I'm not having any luck. Does anyone know where I can get a really good aviation navigation, that utilizes the built in GPS and has live moving maps, app for my hd2?? It would really help me out and stop me from spending $400-500 on a good garmin.. Any help would be great... thanks in advance
I'm also still looking for that
hello guys,i'm looking for it too,plz post it if any1 got it,for HTC HD2... thanks
VFR or IFR ??
I know when i was flying VFR years ago, www.pocketfms.com was fantastic and helped me found a small airport near Paris
About IFR... I don't really have any. I used to use beeline GPS and have a database of worldwide airport entered as waypoints. (named as ICAO code).
Except that, NON navigation talking, i use wxsys to get metar taf, notams on pda... however i found out it's not really fitted for the HD2, as i can't scroll down the results...
If anyone has some other sugestions of programs interesting for IFR flights on the HD2... i'm listening !
Fly safe!
thanks! but I dont have a pref. I just want an actual aviation navigation app with moveable maps via gps. I use aviationweather.gov for my weather related stuff..notams, taf, metars.. by the way the radar on the hd2 is awesome!!! so ill check out those apps.. but if one else knows of some good **** let us know...
Try this...
http://www.flynavgps.com/
i do have a program that i did use a while back the maps were a little out of date back then ( up to date airports vors....)
but all in all wasn't that bad.
I'm actually going to be picking up a leo tomorrow and will be going for some vfr flight soon so I'll try it out.
it's called
WinPilotVFR
-planning - weather -checklist -deviations ....were all there
there was a website that tried to maintain the maps but i haven't been for a while, if your not able to find it let me know and I'll send you the program.
pocketfms has become f***ing expensive. for wx checks I use wxsys. currently I'm playing around with relirescue for nav purposes. But: there's no aviation/ flight safety overlay.
Does anyone know if there's an holding calculator for ifr?
thanks yall ill have to do some downloading.. but I checked out navgps... but I havent had a chance to import the maps into the app.. but thanks and lets keep this goin.. were need more aviators..
NavGPS work better on device with joystick-button. I use it on my Acer DX900. When I try on my wife's HD2 it was much worse.
I think mobile aviation soft now - big problem.

Hi!
Are you a Pilot? I am too, on the helicopter. I am using 2 program on my HD2, they are quite very userfull for me. Oziexplorer version 2.34 and NAVGPS PRO. Both can build the route, flight planing, WPT the same like GPS, specially they installed to SD and just one time input the active.
Give me your mail box to get more information!
I am a CPL-H as well, but I found that there are much more usefull apps for android than for Windows mobile. So android mostly runs when I am entering the helicopter and windows mobile anywhere else ;-)
Oziexplorer will allow you to calibrate your own maps from scanned maps and other sources too.
Tried a lot of apps and now I am with
Flymap
Costly, but perfectly stable and with PC-planning app
Alternative:
Skymap
Less costly, same functions as Flymap, did not try it.
(I fly an ultralight gyroplane)

Hi
I've got an HTC Touch Cruise. Anyone know if I can install two GPS programmes on one PDA?
Would appreciate your input.
Thanks
Brian
Yeah, no problem. You can install them fine.
On some PDAs (Kaiser I think) you can even use them both at the same time polling the same information from the GPS antenna. Other PDAs can't do this without a separate bit of software, can't recall what it's called, but this'll bump you back up to the top and one of the helpful chaps here will contribute.
Thanks Mustang for your input. So there's no problem with special configuring: I don't want to use them together?
shouldn't have a problem. i was based in thailand and i was using powermaps. i then transfered to melbourne where i now use tomtom7. i also had my mapking 7 software installed as i was using maps for malaysia.
so to answer your question, it shouldn'd be a problem.
cheers

If you're not using them at the same time then there is no reason for a problem. You'll need to configure each app to look at the correct com port and baud rate etc if they don't auto detect, but I use Navigon 6, Google Maps, MS Live, and a couple of other GPS apps (dashboards and things) and they all sit quite happily.
Dear all,
I'm looking for the GPS (tracking?) application where I can load the waypoints (gpx?) and then follow them from one point to the next one.
Thanks for suggestions!
BLIND ? Lost the Search button ? Get this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670116
Hi, I'm not sure if you read my post or just the title...
I cant find the way to load the waypoints (route) into the application you suggested and then to follow it. That app is very nice and can log the track as you move but I couldn't find the IMPORT/LOAD waypoints option.
If you're experienced with this app please correct me if I'm wrong.
Do you mean an aplication for Geocaching ?
Look for GCz. http://www.nicque.com/PQz/GCz.htm
Thanks Didibochum,
I've checked the GCz - it's not exactly what I meant but if nothing else is there then I'll use that one.
I'm looking for something like the garmin outdoor devices where one can set the route to be followed by placing the waypoints and then the program gives the direction and distance to the nearest waypoint. Once the waypoint is reached it automatically points to the next one in list and so on.
Sorry pepesz !
Now I get it, You want it the other way round Planning a route and then exporting to HD2 and follow the route .............
Maybe this one could be for You ?

Can anyone tell me if the HTC HD2 in airplane mode still allows connection to gps so I can use Igo on a flight?
Try out NoniGPSplot. It looks pretty outdated, but it's worth a try and to buy. I use it a lot a least

Yes, GPS works in flight mode
Look here for a list of airlines which alllow GPS receivers.
I took some tracks last week from Greece to U.K. using GPS Cycle Computer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424423
The only problem is getting a GPS lock through the aircraft skin/small windows
It can take a while to get a lock but, once you do, the HD2 stays locked pretty well, even a meter from the window

Hi, i started posting this in another forum here on xda but i guess it will be better to post it here.
I am looking for a free gps-system to my HCT HD2, and by free i also mean offline!!
If anybody knows a way to reset the trial on CoPilot that would be fine too, but i'm not going to do a hard reset...
I have looked in the post with all the apps for HD2 under GPS but i cant find a free navigation system. I have tried the NavyComputer and i love the way it works, but theres no GPS inbuild (unless you record a road and then play it).
Thx Qwak

i know i might just should buy one but i know that if i buy the copilot v8, in a month there will be a CoPilot v9, so im really just looking for some freeware...
I know that i can keep saying that there will come something new out all the time and therefore i should not buy anything but i just dont need a GPS that much.. its most for fun...
Use google because there's too many apps to post. Some work in the way that you download the maps off google maps and it uses it's program to navigate through them. Just search and you'll find it. Only thing is, you get what you pay for. Some work great in some areas, but others report problems in others.
well..
I did a google search before posting but it came up with alot of programs that used the 3g-network to get the positions witch is not free, nor very precise!! Neigher of the programs had a navigations-system inbuild so it was just to see where you were and maybe record a road...
I was just hoping that someone had tried a good one and would share that with us...
Or mayeb if someone had a list of available gps-programs so i could test them myself...
Thx Qwak
such I already mentioned before, thair are two difrent gps cistems thay who worked on a stand alone based, I will mean thay have there maps on your sd and don't beet a 3g connection thay works
ore the sistems like Google maps, it is free but it needs 3g and I don't see it like a gps but more like a plan who says where you are.
by the way I don't know about withc software application you was talking about but with my full lecence I have access on evry update fore a year! and if I will next yer also have the new updates it caust me only 35$!? so I don't think a really software is so expensive!
certainly not if you can bay you a htc hd2, bay a gps license will also work!?
and if you are looking fore cracks; you lost your time here! the ruels are clear here.
Don't use google maps, use Bing maps since it has actual navigation.
I prefer it over google maps, for now.
Bing is great. you can find it in Marketplace.
thx
Thx for the bing app, its surely better than googlemaps, although its on english... anybody knows if theres a danish pack for it?
I incidently re-newed my Copilot Live 8 trial by simply removing the licp8.dat file from the windows folder! Good luck!
I have OnStar and compared it to Bing. Bing seems (MHO) a lot better than OnStar.
1. Cost is free with Bing compare to OnStar $ per year.
2. Can set up route prior to getting into car.
3. If I deviate from route, Bing immediately does a re-route without asking.
4. Bing notifies you of turns 1/2 mile, 1,000 Feet.
5. When you are close to destination, Bing tells you whether it is on the Right or Left side of road.
Again, just my opinion, any comments?
Cheers
Hi, I just wanted to say Thank you to Megarock. Removing the icp8.dat file gave me another 15 day trial to play with. Brill
omg, IT WORKS
Thanx soo much Megarock, now i have free copilot forever!!
Though, you have to set it up again every time, but i found a way around that:
1. Delete the licp8.dat form the windows folder.
2. Open copilot and set up a new account and all the other stuff
3. backup the new licp8.dat to your memory card
4. when the trial expires just delete the licp.dat and copy the other one to your windows-folder.
(the one you copy to the windows folder is the backup you made 15 days ago, just after finishing the setup)
Hoped it helped someone
Thx again, Qwak
hi,
i am looking for a GPS program that can be used on canals/waterways
can anyone help please?
thanks in advance
What are you wanting to do with the gps program, turn by turn navigation? I doubt that there is anything like that out there.
There are some OS map based programs that might be ok though.

it was for the parents to use in place of maps, my mum has a n1 too and is bang into it at 58!
which map based programs do you think are worth trying?
If you are just talking about canals, wouldn't google maps do the job? Like MrRalphMan said, you won't find a turn by turn for that I wouldn't think but surely google maps shows waterways doesn't it?
I forgot Google maps, that should be ok..
The one I was thinking of is Memory Map, this uses OS maps.
thanks for your help both, especially google maps! didnt cross my mind to check thar prior to asking.
I had a BB 9700 until the other day (on orange contract), which came with free orange maps because of the plan im on. however i hav now found that said maps will not work on my htc hd2? wtf?!
Is there any way to either get orange maps to work, or install another satnav app, which wont charge me to use and/or download
Like i said only had the hd2 a couple of days (awesome i might add), so a complete newbie, so keep it simple please!
thanks

Bing?

most HD2s come with IGO and you get a free map, but personally i didnt like it. you could try google maps, which will do navigation but wont do the voice prompted directions (you can download it by going to m.google.com on your phone). i use google maps for walking, and i have garmin mobile xt with the city navigator europe map (which ive just updated ). if you know where to look, you could probably get this for free, but that isnt legal. i dont think thee is a great choice of free solutions. you could talk to orange, and maybe they will give you some money off your bill as the maps service doesnt work on the phone
My hd2 didn't come with igo so where can I get it? Took a quick look around and couldn't really find a clear answer
waze, google maps, bing there are lots...
Legal Free Navigation
Bing Maps has turn-based GPS guidance. So when you reach a turn it will show on the screen. For guidance it's better than Google Maps, but still not as good as TomTom etc.
It's search engine and street views are good.

The answer is within google, sorry I cant mention illegal sites
With the right .cab, map, and keygen, you can get TomTom 7 running on HD2.
I use TT7, as I find it better than the rest.
Would give links, but it is warez.
