Download Manager - General Topics

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right section or if i can even talk about this hear as it isnt exactly a phone but..... Just wondering if their is a download manager available for windows mobile 6 (I'm currently using an ipaq 114 ). I've heard that JDownloader may be able to be installed on it using some sort of Java Midlet but not sure how to do that, have been searching but wondered if their where any other premium download managers that could handle rapidshare.
Thanks

there are many
http://www.google.com/search?source...pocketpc&meta=lr=&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

I've seen a few but what I'm looking for is one that is like the program "JDownloader". Where I could set up a bunch of links in a group (say a linux ISO that has been collected into 10 files but I dont want to download, I just want to enque) and then when I get to work download through the wifi their. But there are some smaller files (ROM's, Freeware, Patches) that I would like to download immediately.
I also don't know if these programs allow importing of links, say copying and pasting a large collection of links. Best example I can think of is last night when I tried to download the original night of the living dead (available free under public license), I would of had to click each link and allow to download, but with JDownloader juts select the links and copy and paste. I'm not sure if this is a common feature of download managers as I haven't had much experience with them!
I was also unsure if the download programs would work within a premium rapidshare account, but I guess I would just have to log onto it.
I'm also still waiting for my ipaq, but with the dedicated program WMDownloader I assumed that downloading from rapidshare through PPC would be a pain and was looking for something to handle my premium account.
I didnt just come on here without searching Been trying to read up on as much as I can before posting questions I can later find an answer to through google! haha. Thanks for the link though, but from my browsing history I can see I've already been on the first 8 pages. lol

LOL U CAN USE WIN MOBILE DOWNLOAD ACCELARATOR FORM ADISASTA SITE..
IT IS GOOD..
BUT FOR RAPIDSHARE U HAVE TO USE YOUR PC NOT PPC....
AND WMDOWNLOADER IS GOING ON HUGE CHANGES LIKE COPY PASTE SUPPORT AND OTHER SITES SUPPORT..
SO WAIT UNTILL DEV.. MAKE A NEW WORLD..

I figured their must be one available... They're out for android and seems like downloading from rapidshare and other such sites while using a wifi hotspot would make sense....
Ok - Well back to the drawing board on this idea. Now gotta look for a full featured PC about the size of a PPC that can fit in my pocket and have the ability to download from rapidshare...

Bittorrent mirror for android related files

I set up a page for android related files on my server. I am currently mirroring all the JF 1.41 images and build environments, and the Debian installer. I am using bit torrent so I don't go over my quota on my server, and since it is a great way to distribute large files.
I put this up since a lot of people were complaining about RapidShare and MegaUpload, which is the only place (that I am aware of) to get the debian installer and some of the theme files people are posting.
I will try to get most of the themes that I see in this forum up there later this week. Its also very basic right now, i'll add a way to add and remove files yourself later. For now you have to email me using the online form.
Here's the page: http://hexial.net/android/torrents/
Give me some feedback... Would you all use this?
yes, if its fast and virus/malware free.
now we need a torrent client for android..downloading updates on the go..rename it and install...life couldnt be easier!
thanks man!

Yup! My goal is to make this a faster alternative than MegaUpload or similar sites. I have 4 or 5 seeds for each file, and 2 of those connections are 20mbit upload speed :-D
And of course I am going to try and keep all the files virus/malware free. I double checked that all the md5 sums matched the originals posted by JesusFreke, so they are all virus free on my end.

Actually, at first I really liked the idea of OTA updates via bittorrent... then I thought, hmm people are going to apply the update, restart the phone, and then we are going to have tons of seeds out there seeding over GPRS? Nah, I think ill pass =P
(It probably wouldn't be all that bad with 3G, but out here I get GPRS... data speeds are unbearable)
I wouldnt seed from my phone but it would be kinda cool to dl stuff to my fone like vids that are already in the correct format, or music. As far as speed goes, Edge seems pretty quick, i dont have much access to the 3g network, but Edge is better than GPRS, at least for me.
Forget flash we need utorrent for android.

NEW: Direct streaming via Megaupload .avi files

Hi guys and girls,
after looking quite hard at the forums, iv found a few topics that are "close but no cigar", so im starting a new thread to try and get the ball rolling and hopefully soon, make an app that will be available on all android devices.
the topic says it all.
I started a website 4 years ago that enables direct streaming of .avi files to your pc and now im trying make the process on your phone as seamless as it is on your pc!
at the moment, the current way of doing this is
1) get the file link from megaupload.com
2) go to your .avi media player
3) input the link
4) watch.
so basicly im trying to get it so an app will skip steps 2 and 3.
because the way you get the link from the site i run at them moment is allready a 4 step process, cutting it from a 4 to 6 step one on the mobile phone side would be a brilliant step in the right direction!
a couple of threads allready on xda/apps on the market that are along the right lines are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11621885 - But the app has been removed from the market and the dev's have stopped working on it.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.stonyx.megastream - this app has recieved many negative comments and after trying it, it does what im trying to do but in a very long winded and drawn out way.
(edit) the irony is, the app thats been made now which is fantastic btw, has been made by the same guy!(/edit)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.stonyx.icestream this is the app btw
Not trying to advertise but if you search Icefilms on xda theres a lot of people who use the site and want to use it on their phones, so im here now trying to do it and hopefully get some help because honestly im a total n00b to the app dev side of mobile phones!
there is allready a greasemoney/userscript app for android, but the Greasmoneky script the site uses encorperates DivX web player, which is not available for android. So you can install the userscript but theres no bridg between the link and the video player!
so, there in lies the problem and my mission!
any ideas or anyone willing to give me some of their time to get this project rolling?
thanks in advance,
Morgan
icefilms.info admin
anyone home?
guess i'll go to bed and come back tomorrow and see!
good night all
and thanks again in advance!
As a daily icefilms user, and soon to be a android tablet owner (TF201). I hearby *BUMP* this thread!
well, like i said, we have near on 3 and a half million hits a day, but dont have our own app.... that kinda sucks tbf.
hopefully we can get some interest!
still nothing?
I read somewhere that there is a XBMC for android in development, but who knows how long it'll take
well, to be honest, thats a fantastic idea!
if you find any more info on it, please let me know!
1 use the browser "maxthon for tablet"
www . maxthon . com
2 apk megaplayer
megaplayer takes on the market with three free plug-in.
With you going on your site by activating the flash
and at the beginning of caching you can download started
you leave your site and wait 40 s + 10 s and you can start watching.
avi in with the reader of your choice
Just got informed there's an icefilms app on the market, great success. I've emailed the dev
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Amazing!
ok so i just looked on the marked (search icefilms) and found one called Ice Stream.
looks like it will do the job!

[Q] Bad "MultiUpload"

When on xda-developers website: anytime I've had a link on the website which required me to go to Multiupload to get a file to download, I am always redirected to this website, lnx.lu & I can't get the file I wanted. This VERY aggravating!!!! Is this just me or are others experiencing this also?
lnx.lu is a site forwarder. It's like go.to/blah, or tinyurl.com/blah, except that you also get money the more people click on your link. The site probably requires javascript enabled to function. Also, some mobile browsesrs don't like these forwarding sites, and will throw an error. Worse come to worst, find a direct link to the file, or just search the internet for the file name.

You're probably correct, but I have noticed this result using more than one link on xda-developers, in fact there were quite a few. Also, I have used many links before, even ones that now guide me to this page. It makes me think that 1) I have something wrong w/my PC or 2) the site has been compromised (HIGHL UNLIKELY).
& oh, BTW, this happened using my desktop, not a mobile browser.

[Release] Free Download Manager (FDM) 3.9.2 beta

Someone asked for the alpha/beta version of FDM for ARM, so here it is.
Here's what does not work yet:
- icons (will try to get it sorted)
- winsock sniffing (will "never" work, since the library costs $10k for ARM)
- video preview (uses directx, haven't had the time to even look if it is possible to get it running)
- web interface (stats up but apparently? crashes upon connection)
- help (FIXED)
If you find anything else, please write here and I will try to get it sorted out if it is not too much work (and if it is possible of course).
Here is the source: https://mega.co.nz/#!GJUEVZZY!DPGbp31rQTv9hWJUFAyAPyDCNExRrha6tJLqVFtxrik
Works great on my surface,
No icons, right? (Just confirming)
Great work! Adding to ported apps thread.

yes, but not serious problem because menu bar work well.
I test downloading with more than 10 connections.
My appreciation! :good:
I added a link to the source code, if someone is willing to play with it further...
Ok I'm a dork
I'm having some problems, does this program work like Uttorrent?
If it does, how do you use it to D/L.
I've tried the magnetic link but Windows RT doesn't recognize any program. I tried the web link and it connects the link but only D/L a small 500-800kb file
I have looked in the help file but it's limited.
Unfortunately I don't think FDM supports magnet links, only .torrent ones.
Anybody else experiencing random Explorer crashes with FDM running? I haven't investigated much, but it seems to arbitrarily happen when I click links in IE.
Awesome! Except beta2 is in a .rar archive? :/

Just use winrar or 7zip then. That was hard...
Heck, there are even .RAR decompressors available in the Windows Store.
Mind you, I think it's a terrible format (due to its proprietary nature, mostly, but also due to its overly complex and somewhat frightening-from-a-security-standpoint capabilities), but it's not hard to open.
Magnet 2 Torrent
Thanks, this works on my Surface RT!
You can convert magnet to torrent online : http://magnet2torrent.me/
Cheers
Works GREAT THANKS A LOT
You know when the next update will be available?

[APP][2.2+] AirStream: Access your computer like a Dropbox

Hi Friends,
Would love your feedback on our app - AirStream
We have built this awesome app using which you can access your files from Computer on Mobile devices from anywhere in the world. As you might have also experienced most of our data like movies, music, photos & even important work documents are still residing in our computers. Even today there is no easy way to access them on Mobile devices. But with our solution this is as easy as using Dropbox, imagine accessing all your files from your computer from anywhere in the world without any limit on GBs.
What you will love:
1. Access alll your drives & files
2. Easy & quick movie streaming
3. Integrated music player.. create playlists, import playlists, etc
4. Access computer over 3G/4G
Attached are the new builds that we will release on Google Play. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Procedure:
1. Install the apk in android
2. Copy the .jar version of AirStream desktop client to your computer & run it.
3. Login on both ends using the same credentials.
(both the .apk & .jar have been zipped due to size constraints. We have a .msi version but not able to upload due to size constraints)
Check the screenshots for your reference.
Awaiting your feedback.. feel free to reach us at [email protected]
Edit::
An older version of this is available on Google Play. The changes to the new version are:
1. Patched AirStream-Sky functionality on Android. Older version had a bug which prevented the app from accessing computer on external network. (There is still a issue on Desktop app, which sometimes require a router reset to access computer on external network)
2. Added indicator to notify whether the app is working on Local Wifi network or external network.
3. Much better graphics & UX. The app is much slicker & smoother than older one.

Similar yes from what it does. But from user-experience wise, the way it connects, integrated media player, AirStream is very different & better. Give it a try

Right now the playback controls are only on the mobile app. Windows client only acts as a server, you login and it allows the mobile device to connect with it. Media playback & everything else is done from the Mobile app.. Hope you find is useful

thanks for the share and much appreciations.
i can only access my device SD, i can't access the external SD on my device.
This seems like it could help me a lot from work.
Thank you for sharing. I'll definitely give this app a workout. :highfive:
Tested browser and transfer (only download from PC to mobile) on the same network, all work fast and smooth!
Hope it can transfer from mobile to PC/mobile, too!
Hi, got this up and going in a few minutes. It's awesome! Something I've been looking for in an FTP like client/server setup. The beautiful thing is AirStream's simplicity. Streamed music straight away and have yet to attempt a transfer. I understand server to client functionality is fully functional. I'm experiencing it. Is the reverse true of transfers? That is, client to server. I did see someone else ask this question yet it hadn't been answered as of this writing. Thanks for the app and sharing all the work you've placed into its development. Cool. Practical. User-friendly. Literally up and running in under 7-10 minutes! Sweet
tinydynamite00
Thank you very much for this!
Tested on my Xperia Z and working great but the speed is slow in HFS is more faster, any way great job
Awesome app!!!. Ive been looking for something like this as my router wont allow me to forwad ports no matter what I do!.
Its simple which I love and works like a charm.
Only thing id like to see its an automatic cache clear on exit as going through android/data annoys me a little, But thankyou very much for this :victory:
tested @ inew v3 and workind great ! Very simple and easy application :good:
sweet ap:highfive: but I can seem to access files on my pc through this app using mobile data.
Thank you, just what I have searched form. Any way to run this app in linux headless server ?
