Do you mean hiding updates for particular apps or just disabling notifications on all of them?

just for particular apps, like you can in windows for instance (in win7 you can right click on an update and choose "hide update")
i have a couple of apps i dont want to update
Backing up the app (AppMonster, RootExplorer if you have root), uninstalling it, and reinstalling it through AppMonster, Astro, or any file viewer will stop the notifications for updates. This is for an app by app basis and you wont be able to update the app later unless you reinstall it through the Market app.
To disable notifications of all apps in the status bar, there should be a setting for that (Open market, menu, settings)

The android system is meant for apps to be opening automatically. Now if you are rooted there is an app that you can manually choose which apps you want to run or not. Inside the app it even let's you stop system app from opening also, but I don't recommend stoping those. You will see system apps in yellow and regular app in white. When you click on the app you want to disable it will tell you if you want to disable or enable. Since I did this my battery saves a little more and my phone runs smoother. If you have problems downloading app message me I can send apk.

Been on here for awhile just not enoough posts yet so wont let me post in development. On cyan 10 is there a way to clear out the notifications menu?
Yes, there is a button, it shows only if you have notifications
how about when you install apps or downloads?

If you install an app with explorer (like ES, Antek, ecc ecc..) there isn't the notification in status bar (only popup)
If you install an app from play store yes, there is a notification and you can delete all the notifications with the button
With the download is the same as install app from market (there is the delete button)
I'm basically purging all the useless applications i'll never use from a fresh install of CyanogenMod 10.1 Jellybean 4.2.2 and I can't find the .apk anywhere in the app folder. Does anyone know what the .apk is called so I can remove this garbage please?
Thanks.

Don't worry about finding the APK. You can unistall it using Titanium Backup or System Tuner or any of 100 similar apps to unistall it. In those options it will appear in the App list as Movie Studio and not whatever goofy name the APK file has.
You can also freeze it in the Manager Apps section of the settings. That won't delete it but will disable it competely.
Cool thanks. So far all i've done is go into Settings -> Launcher -> Drawer -> Hidden Apps and basically ticked that, will that do for the time being? Also, is Titanium Backup free and can I get it of the Marketplace?
Thanks.

No hiding it only removes it from the app drawer. It may still be running in the background.
There is a free version of titanium on the play store...using it you can uninstall or disable any app.
Hope that helps

That is 100% wrong. I just personally confirmed it. Disabling an app in the settings menu formally freezes it and makes it completely unable to run in any capacity until it is unfrozen.
Please don't post something as a fact unless you are certain its a fact. Posting wrong information will confuse new users and others searching for help later.

So am I alright keeping the method I used to hide it? Will that stop it from running in the background etc.? or do I still need Titanium Backup to remove it?
Thanks.
Disabling the app will render the app unusable until you re-enable the app. If you need to use the app sometimes then I would try the app greenify from the play market. Greenify simply hibernates the app.

Just wondering if it's possible to remove the Email app in 5.0?
I think it's stupid that all the Email app does is tell you to use the GMail app for all accounts. I got and understood that the first time i launched Email, and now I'd like to remove the app (or at very least the Icon) if possible.
Thanks!
Disable the app
Edit: From the app drawer drag up to app info and then choose disable.

Thanks! Nice and simple too.
Hi everyone!
I have used system app mover to make an app a system app.
Although the app disappeared, I just reinstalled it from the Google Play Store and the app works as a system app.
However, I would now like to undo my operation and move back the app to be a non-system app but the app doesn't appear in the list insie /system/app/ mover's app even if the option to show system apps is checked.
How can I remove the app from the system apps?
Thanks
