Just ordered my car dock, I was thinking about heading to the mall today and getting "ghost armor" full body protection to replace my hard case (since i cant use it with the dock.)
How tight is the dock? will the body protector film interfere with the mounting?
Bump.
Was just about to ask this same question. I'm looking for a nice car charging solution for my N1. A dock would serve double time on that front by giving me the option of using it for GPS too.
I'm curious if you guys who have the dock could tell me how exactly the dock charges ?
Also, do you think a full BSE skin will impede it fitting into the dock and/or charging?
Not being able to use my skin would be a dealbreaker for me Buttt I really like that car dock
Don't know exactly what casing/Skin you mean but invisishield is even to mUch to fit in the desktop dock much less the cAr dock. They are perfectly engineered. Great if you don't want a case on. Something I wish I had Ben told before Trying both.
Thank you! I will get a charger cord or something then
Ghost Armor, Ghost Armor, Ghost Armor!

I have an BSE full body skin being shipped for my new new att nexus one, but was considering getting one of those gel/silicon cases that most iphone users have as well. I also purchased the google dock for the phone. however, the dock cradles the phone perfectly. do you all remove your phone cases to dock the phone? are there any cases available that leave the charging contacts exposed?
thanks.
I don't think the dock can be used with any case. The tolerances are too tight. The only sort of case that would work would be a case that protects the front of the phone but not the back. Any added thickness to the back of the phone will inhibit use of the dock.

does that include the usage of clears skins like those sold by BSE and others, which is essentially a 3M laminate (i used to buy yards of this stuff and cut it myself)? i can maybe tolerate taking the phone out the case whenever i want to dock it, but i'd like to have at least some measure of protection. otherwise my option is to only install the screen protector...

I have not tried the skins from zagg etc. on this phone but I think those might be thin enough that it could work. I'm sure someone on here has tried.
It works with the BSE skin. Sometimes I have to wiggle it a bit or puch down a little to make sure it makes a connection, but it works.
This exact same question has been discussed in the thread titled: I think Google killed their dock sales. I'd ask a mod to merge your thread with that one.
With the bestskinever full body skin, I wasn't able to sit properly on the dock at all, and eventually just took off some of the bottom parts. The battery cover, and the front of the phone are still completely protected.
I picked up a cheapy silicone/gel skin that does a fine job of protecting the phone, and I just take it off at night/put it back on in the morning. It's not as big of a hassle as one would think. It does seem like the skin may be stretching a bit, but I picked it up for like $6 so I'm can't complain too much.
Wondering if anyone knew if there was any kickstand cases for the Nexus One on the market.
When I had my HD2 I found it to be convenient to say the least.
Body Glove
The only case I know of with a kick-stand function is the Body Glove case see my thread here.
I did some research as well and wasnt able to turn up any that fits my specific needs either (low profile, built into the case rather than detachable).
I guess this'll do in the meanwhile.
Thanks for the reply man.
Yea unfortunately the only thing I found to be a replacement to a built in kickstand w/o being part of some extended battery or cover case is a Crabble stand. You can get em on Ebay for $7 and they are foldable to fit in ur wallet. It works rly well.
I would like to get a case for my N1, but only after I can find a car dock that will accommodate the phone in its case. I have a proclip now which is excellent for the non-cased N1. Ideally I'd find a dock that was designed for a slightly thicker phone that will snuggly hold the cased N1.
Has anyone found a good solution?
I guess you could try those invisible skin "cases" which only protect it from scratches. I just ordered the Google car dock, but I have a Seido Innocase II, which will surely not fit in the dock. It's pretty easy to take the case off, so I'm not too concerned.
I have a Cas-mate Tough using it on my Nexus one, ist there any car dock that would fit?
Like Google's dock, or something similar, maybe?
I'm trying to find a good sleeve that accommodates both the 700 and the dock simultaneously. Had a great Poetic case for the 101 and bought a replacement for the 700, but for those times when I need to travel with both I figured a sleeve would be a smart option, but still haven't seen anything that definitively works. Prefer stretchy/micro-suede over leather. Any ideas?

I have a neoprene netbook sleeve with no zipper stretch over top, work great for tf700 with or without dock.

I'm likely going to get one of them too, just not sure which one to get -- I think Neoprene is the best solution, just don't love the way an older netbook sleeve (neoprene) picks up dust in a briefbag. I have one for an Asus netbook so I should be good to go, but haven't even looked into brands (yet) -- which one do you have?
Mine's a kensington I got in a netbook starter kit with cheap mouse and desk lock. Mine has pull over flap at top that fits tight with or without dock an provides some padding for impact protection.

I think mine's a Belkin, I've used it for the Netbook but I'm going to see how it rolls with my 101/keyboard combo, can't imagine the size will be that different that there will be a discrepancy -- if mine works I'll stick with it, I've used the keyboard really infrequently so I'm not too-too worried. But I'll keep an eye out, Kensington's definitely a possibility...
Thanks for the heads up...
Just wondering if anyone knew whether or not I could fit a Note 4 with a UAG case into the Smart Dock.
Thought I would ask before I buy the Smart Dock..
Thanks!
Honestly, I don't think so, the charger connector lays way to deep into the case, I would go to a store to try one first.
I've tried 3 cases so far, and the only one that works with the Smartdock for me was the Ringkey Fusion clear case. I had to cut the port cover off of it since it wouldn't fit with it on there, but other than that it's a great fit.
Every other case I've tried made the plastic too deep around the USB port.
So much for that idea.
Thanks for the replies!
