Verizon TP2 Hard spl for running gsm? - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Hi, i have purchased a Verizon touch pro2 from the states. It has been shipped here to Australia i have unlocked the GSM and now am running on a gsm network, my issue is does this now change from cdma roms to gsm and vice versa with SPL.
Thanks.

No you only use cdma roms. If you use gsm roms or radio you will create a nice brick.

Great, thanks very much

I have the same phone, using in india successfully over GSM, can anyone suggest me where i can get custom ROM for my Verizon Touch PRO 2? do i require to apply Hard SPL before i flash any ROM? As I can only flash custom CDMA ROM to this device, will GSM keep working as it is even after flashing custom CDMA ROM?
Thanks in Advance

It already has a cdma rom on it because it is a cdma phone. Go to ppcgeeks.com for hard spl info and lots of roms.

How can I check if my touch pro is unlocked for installing custom roms?

Hi all,
I'm wondering how I can check if my HTC Touch Pro is unlocked for installing custom roms. I bought it without a carrier with no simlock.
Don't know if that matters?
Hope that someone can tell me how to check this...
Thanks

If you did not buy it from a carrier, then it should be SIM unlocked, which means you can install anyone's SIM card and the device should work. NOTE - use of a SIM card implies you have a GSM-based Raphael. There are also CDMA Raphael's out there (for North American carriers) which don't use a SIM card.
In either case, if the device is unlocked, then you can go ahead and install any of the Raphael ROMS being developed in the Raphael ROM forum. Be careful, if you have a CDMA Raphael, go to the CDMA forum.
Security Unlocked is something else, and this is only required if you want to flash the RADIO from another device, such as the Blackstone or Quartz models. This, you have to get done by someone else. There is a sticky thread in the Raphael ROM forum where you can get more information.
Personally, I just stick with SIM unlock, since the Raphael-based radios are working just fine for me.
you should probably put hard spl on there just in case to be safe
Ok thanks than I am going to install a custom rom tonight.
Hope it works!
You need to flash hard spl before doing anything.
Oke, does any one know where this is explained?
So just a short explanation about what to do in what order to install custom roms etc...
Thanks a lot already!
Uh, try the noob flashing thread and the hard spl thread in the rom forum, and the flashing thread at fuzemobility.

No you can only flash cdma roms to a cdma phone. If you flash a gsm rom you will have a big brick. There are many cdma roms in the below link. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=98

Doesnt matter for customruu...GSM ones work in CDMA.
Have u hard-spl your TP2? Hard-spl is a MUST if u wanna flash custom ROM. If I'm not wrong, T-mobile is GSM version. I use TP2 Sprint which is CDMA/GSM. I use GSM mainly in Indonesia.

If you bought a T-Mobile branded phone it is referred to as a "GSM" version.
You can tell which version you have either by the carrier branding, the model number or a conbination of both.
EVERY SINGLE TOUCH PRO 2 HAS A SIM CARD.
and EVERY SINGLE TOUCH PRO 2 HAS A QUALCOMM CMDA MSM CHIP.
Why? Because "3G" GSM isn't really "GSM." It's WCDMA (otherwise known as UMTS or a HSPA variant). And Qualcomm makes the CPU chip which drives the system.
So what you're seeing is 100% normal. Both the "GSM" and "CDMA" TP2s have Qualcomm CDMA CPUs inside.
thanx

Why does it say everywhere else not to flash a GSM rom on your CDMA device? If both were the same phone, then wouldn't the custom ROMS be shared together and not segregated into a Custom CDMA ROM forum? I know that I can hold a GSM (Tmobile) and a WCDMA (Sprint) Touch Pro 2 side by side, and they are not identical, though they could have the same chipset.
I would double check that information about running custom roms for GSM on CDMA...Every post I see about it, is from people who did it, then think their phone is bricked until they flash a CDMA rom onto it.

ROM for GSM only & CDMA/GSM is different! Including the splash screen is different too. U can't interchange them, could brick ur device. Several people have bricked their TP2 cos wrong ROM. If u wanna plenty of CDMA/GSM custom ROM, just visit www.ppcgeeks.com. This xda-developers mainly on GSM only ROM.

did you find a Hard SPL for your Tmobile phone?
and yes tmobile is GSM, yu can look at the back of the phone, take off the battery and yu will see a model number R210 which means its GSM

I have an unlocked Verizon Touch pro 2 on tmobile.. Which rom do i use?

Should i use these custom roms or should i use the ppcgeeks.com custom roms...
CDMA
any ROM designed and labeled for a CDMA phone will work. Do not attempt to flash a gsm ROM
You have a CDMA Worldphone, so you should only flash ROMs and Radios made for CDMA Rhodiums, or you can brick your device permanently. Unless a ROM or Radio in this subforum specifically states that it is CDMA (which is unlikely), you should not use it. I recommend getting your CDMA ROMs from PPCGeeks, as that forum is aimed more a CDMA users, and has more CDMA ROMs there.

He's right, flashing a GSM ROM is a easy wat to get a very expensive paperweight!

Sprint to Verion and vice-versa

Noob question.
Now that we have an unlocked bootloader is the vzw hw so different from the sprint one?
Can we somehow install a custom rom (stock or no) that was designed for the S3 sprint one and vice-versa from vzw to sprint? Without porting.
If not then why?
Good Question, I would like to know this too. (BUMP)

No, you are most likely not going to be able to use a Sprint rom on this phone. They use different radios and most likely a different bootloader.
Also, the LTE frequency for both devices are different and the Sprint version uses the 800, 850 and 1900mhz cdma frequencies wheres the verizon version is only 850 and 1900. The Sprint uses 1900Mhz for 4G as well.
I think the only way this would work would be if a dev made a rom that was specifically for the CDMA version of the phones and would detect which type it was running on before flashing
