so i have no idea why but on elegancia rom i cannot get FIM to connect ever over wifi or data and my login is always correct.
i tried palringo and it let me sign in once but then always gets a not authorized error.
so right now i cant use facebook chat on my phone and it sucks.
any other apps or maybe a fix?
Did you try Palringo?
re-read my post
Most of the really nice ones cost money...Like Agile Messenger and IM+...
You can try Nimbuzz...worked better for me than Palringo and its freeware...
Go here:

nimbuzz seems to be working at least over wifi for now. thanks alot
although it only seems to load 400 friends total so i cant see all that are online. hmm

That is odd....I cant really help because I havent used it in a long time...
Sorry I couldnt help more, glad at least ya got something running.
Cheers!
blahh. it only appears to work on wifi.
facebook keeps giving me messages about someone in the uk trying to sign in so apparently palringo and nimbuzz use a server overseas and facebook freaks out and blocks it?
try this.....
what makes that one different? it just worked over wifi for me.
and worked over edge, weird thing is i had to change internet networks. t mobile internet didnt work, my isp didnt work. but finally t mobile data did.
thanks alot!
if you go to m.aol.com and download AIM it has facebook built into it

I agree there.
Hands down the best IM program for WM.
I've been using the latest version on WM6 and it works great.
My only complaint is that on reboot some times it's today plugin won't load. This isn't WM6 though because it happened on my WM5 device too.
It seems to do it a lot less often in this new version though.
Very good app.
Did you have to pay for it...I did a quick google search and it took me to a pay site...I was in a rush tho...so I guess I have to search a little more later...
yes, it is a pay app...

May be old, but it's still good. Used it on WM5 and STILL using it on WM6. . . works like a charm!!
AT&T WM6 Messenger (aim, yahoo, msn)
On this ebay post.. there is an 8525 running wm6 with an interesting app which has aim, yahoo and msn functionality. Can't wait for that update! Has anyone ripped out that messenger to work on wm5?
I believe it's the standard OzIM program, but if I'm not mistaking, I think it uses SMS instead of internet to send/recieve messages.
It Is the OZ Program! I Have both OZ Programs (T-Mobile And Cingular). If anyone is interested pm me! I have also posted the T-Mobile OZ Program Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=302654 Post #2. Hope It Helps. And Yes OZ Takes From Your Texting. But Y Care If You Have Unlimited Like Me
Heres The Cingular OZ Instant Messenger Program If Anyone Is Looking For It. Hope It Works! Havent Tried It Cuz It Wont Work On Tmobile Phone. Tell Me If It Works Thanks!
i just installed it... i have 'Cingular Blue', so if anyone has any idea how to configure the Cingular OzIM to that, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Does it need internet?
So, if OZ Messenger uses text messaging, do you still need to be subscribed to an internet plan? Cuz doesn't the program still connect to go online first (wap.voicestream.com thru your connection settings)
I spoke to a t-mobile rep, and they said they "think" you need the internet plan for it to work. But if thats the case, you have to pay for an internet plan AND a text messaging plan? Catch 22 if you ask me. But its hard to really trust their word, cuz their representative are all mindless idiots, im so sick of dealing with them.
But if indeed it uses the internet plan to go online first, then you might as well buy IM+ as it is 10x better and instant messages come in real time.
Please advise

you don't need a data plan but you will need your connections setup because of the texting..Which is VERY slow
Just get IM+ if you want pay for it or just find the crack..Just not on this forum.
it won't work for me on my MDA. but i only have the t-mobileweb plan with the proxy and not the total internet plan. IM+ also won't work either...well AOL will because I can specify for it to work on port 25 but everything else won't work because the ports are blocked with the proxy.
Could anyone suggest an IM client compatible with this ROM version?
Thanks in advance
I've been using OctroTalk. It's been working great in Beta, don't know how much they're going to charge when it's released.
www.octro.com
i like IM+
you have agile too....
and for talk the best is fringle
IM and WM6
does the IM programs still use sms for communication or will it work over the internet connection like a pc ?
wondering if there is a way just to the t mobile internet to chat not the sms service that will add to a lot of money
thank you
I'm using Imov. I believe it works over the internet and not via txt's. Agile has been my favorite but I dropped it when it stopped being free.

Hi, i have searched the dream forum but have not found any conclusive answers to my specific problem. I know that T-Mobile do not allow MSN/ Windows Live Messenger in the UK and as such do not bundle the G1 with it. However it is bundled with the American G1 as far as I am aware and was wondering if there was a way for somebody to upload the application so that i could install it manually, an .apk maybe. I have tried all of the other messenger substitutes and have found them to be satisfactory but have individual downfalls. Since i have used the Windows Live application on the Xperia I have realised how good mobile MSN can be and would like the true experience if at all possible.
i guess the application is actually shipped with every build, but you will need a non-uk sim to activate it.
Please post the apk, worth a try
well i don't really know anything about the application itself since i've never had it, but is there a way to get the application from the phone and upload it or is there any source code that an application can be built with?
Hi!
I would reccommend the program Hi MSN! from the Market. I used to use the "native" IM app, and have to say that I like Hi MSN! more. I am also a UK user
Try Hi MSN, and if you don't like it I will find the old IM.apk

I've tried Hi MSN but i always get connection issues. Most of the time it does not connect at all and other time it disconnects whilst i am logged in without it telling me. I have also tried Meebo and few others but even when they work they do not give me all of the features i would like. The windows messenger on the Xperia is very much like the computer version and i would like something like that.

AFAIK, the bundled MSN messenger use text(!) to send and receive messages if you're not on wifi - unless you have an unlimited sms/text plan, you might be up for a nasty surprise.
I too use Hi MSN, and for me it works flawlessly.

er why not try meebo, it's on the market and a free download. It a very good msn, aim yahoo client. Been using it for a long long time no had any issues at all. i m also in UK
I had it on one build, it wouldn't sign in for me
My gripe with Meebo (as with Palringo et al) is that it's not an MSN (or Yahoo or aim) client - It's a Meebo client, and you connect to MSN/Yahoo/whetever thru their service. An added layer I'd rather be without.

Yes i agree with that but i also think that while Hi MSN is probably the best version out, it still lacks some features that are already available in mobile MSN applications.
This one goes to all the windows phone newcomers who are looking for a way to use facebook chat on their new HTC LEO / HD2, which lacks from both native winmo facebook app, and HTC Sense facebook integration.
The software name is FIM (Facebook Instant Messenger) and beside the fb chat it integrates many of the core facebook features like status feed, notifications, photo post, and pretty much everything else via Facebook's mobile site.
Most important is that the software is finger friendly and I'm using it myself on HD2, so later I will post a video of the software on HD2 for those who still consider buying this awesome device.
You can find the rest of the details here
You can also download it directly on your device by navigating to http://get.mosko.mobi
will give it a go
Good job

excellent app, congrats
fantastic app! best facebook app ive used on the HD2 yet! thank you!!!
does not work on 3G -1
How much is this likely to kill the battery if it was left running in the background?
I'm fairly sure it was Palringo that gave me my battery issues when I first got the HD2.
While we're talking about Facebook app on HD2, how come i can't see my thumbs of my uploaded pictures? Is this a setting somewhere or just a bug?
Thank you very much, been looking for exactly this.......
I am trying to dl this, but it looks like the website is down?
same here, seems broken? anyone got the cab?
great ap though it does drain the battery got a percentage icon running and you can see it counting down
Site seems to be working again!
Hi, excellent app! love it. BUT......
...95% of the time when I open fim and try to sign in it fails to connect and pops up with the message "Failed using the internet connection. Try to restart your data connection". This is on my HD2 which I've only had for a few days and it's also my first winmo so I'm a complete noob. It doesnt matter how many times I turn on/off wifi it makes no difference and I get the same error both on my wifi at home and at work so I'm a bit baffled - especially as it does occasionally work first try.
If anyone can point me in the direction of where I'm going wrong I will be eternally grateful lol.
Cheers,
Matt
Thanks a lot for this, it's a damn shame the official Facebook app totally sucks compared to the iPhone version which allows for so much more. It's small things like this that make the whole device user experience suck. It's not HTC's fault.

Hi all, +1 for the same problem. but i'm not a complete noob and not in wifi.
edit: I may have found the solution "Incorrect Email/Password Combination": but you are positively sure you entered everything correctly? well, if you have special characters in your email or password replace them. only numbers, English letters and of course @ at the email allowed, also keep in mind that facebook passwords are case sensitive."

You can download it from http://get.mosko.mobi/
Palringo straight up sucks. as of right now it has been "Logging in" for 3 hours, tried rebooting phone, checked connection etc etc.. Of course there is no visual cue that you have a message,(blinking LED) or when you are disconnected.
it sucks, i hate it, want something, anything else.
tried to get ebuddy, cant, says its not authorized or something to that effect..
is there ANY program out there (other than junkringo) that works on this phone? without having to do any mods BS to get it to work?
I take it you're not looking for MSN then?
something that DOES NOT use sms to send and recieve yahoo chat messages.
How about this. Not the most obvious thing in the world I suppose, but I thought of it...

Wow, thanks for the smartass answer an all..
but have you even tried to install it on an HD2?
hmm?
does your say " 'ymsgr-ppc' is not a valid pocket PC application"
maybe i should google it.
mmm... yea, well it says its for winmo5.. so I googled the HD2 and found it with google, it uses winmo6.5 and then googled again and could not find where it said that app supports winmo6.5.... but I did find where it said it does not support 6.1 but maybe it skipped 6.1 because it wasnt cool, or didnt use google enough... hmm
maybe i should google some more.
too bad i cant get it to work too, what with a rockin rating of 2/10 i think you managed to google up the one chat app that might suck worse than palringo..
At least I tried, which is more than you could be bothered doing.
Couple of options
BeeJive for WM 6.5 works, but is no longer being supported. It's in permanent beta and every once in a while their servers go down for a few days.
You can get the ebuddy java app to work. You need to install Mighty's Photon jBlend java app on your HD2, then you can get java apps to install fine. I don't have a link handy but you can find it on XDA.
Try BeeJive first, if it's working, it's really good.
