is there an app for that? - Android Apps and Games

i need an app that can remember barcodes. i want to make a database of products i need to avoid for my son (e-numbers etc) and thought it'd be really handy if i could scan the barcode of a product i need to avoid and store it so that in future i could scan the barcode and see if its stored and i need to avoid it rather than creating a long list of product names.
any thoughts? thanks

I believe ShopSavvy keeps a history of barcodes you've scanned.

Yeah, ShopSavvy remembers the barcodes you've scanned. However, I don't think it gives an easy way to compare a new scan against what it has in memory. I don't have a better suggestion though :/

I think I saw an app once called inventorydroid or something like that. Perhaps a Google search of it will give you what you are looking for.

3Banana Notes keeps notes of barcodes you have scanned. Why not give it a try?

I know this is late but
My Collection Pro maybe its lets you keep an inventory of what you scan and though it is meant for a library type application i think you could use it here, it will let you input your own info to come up when the barcode is scanned again.
btw it says pro but its a free app.

Key Ring

Key Ring is an app that allows you to enter those club cards that most retailers/supermarkets have now. You can enter any card with a bar code and the app will know most of them. The idea is your phone will now display the bar code and you can scan the screen on your phone instead of carrying 5 or more cards in your wallet. Its a great idea.
The problem for me is I am finding the bar code scanners at retailers are not able to pick up the bar code from my screen. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Perhaps AMOLED does not work as well as LCD for this application?
Pops_G,
Hey, Key Ring customer support here. Your assumptions are correct. It's the incredible's screen that makes it difficult to scan barcodes from the screen. CCD/Led handheld scanners should work fine though, just not laser handheld scanners. CVS uses LED scanners for sure.
Hope this helps!
Team Key Ring
Thats a bummer it doesn't work with all laser scanners but it makes sense.
Sounds like an app I should check out though.
hmm, would it be possible to make a list of the major retailers that are on the app that are compatible with LED scanners?
like: (just example)
Walmart - Laser
CVS - LED
Giant - Laser???
would be helpful to maybe even include it in the app itself to let the users know forehand while using the app
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on you look at, the list of retailers that use compatible scanners is a moving target. Many retailers are in process of updating their point of sale scanners to be compatible with phone screens. I imagine in the next 1-4 years most large retailers will upgrade.
Hope this helps.
Chris
Takes longer to scan your phone than the groceries. Not a very viable app regrettably.

How do you figure?? It's just as long to scan your phone screen as it is to scan a hard copy of a shoppers club card.. Just have it on your screen before they finish scanning your items. It's not that hard on my incredible to bring up a stored card and its easier than having 100 small cards either in my wallet or on my key chain.

So less at least start some type of list. If you go to a store and it sirany work let the rest of us know.

doesnt ever work for me. my friend says that if he smears the screen with his hand it works better, but honestly its faster to just use a keyring for me. app is a cool idea though.
Even if the stores scanner doesn't read your screen well, the cashier could enter the number manually. A little more work for the cashiers, but Less clutter for us!
Well worth it, to have program to store and organize all these store discount/loyalty cards.
Please develop this program for WM 6.1.

Need barcode scanner with no price look up

I have ShopSavvy installed and it worked great when I was in the US. I'm in Brazil now and need a barcode scanner program that lets me create my own database. I want to catalog my Blu rays, books and many other things. Would also like to be able to create shopping lists and price comparisons to be able to track prices on certain items from week to week. Anyone have a recommendation?
Like this?

You might try Memento. It's a little confusing at first but I used it to do basically what you describe and it worked well.
Does Barcode Scanner keep starting and running in the background like Shopsavvy? If so, I'll switch.
I use "My Collection" i got off the market, I have all my games, and movies in it. What it allows you to do is scan the UPC code from the back of your Game, Book, or Movie and pulls the box art, and other data and stores the information on your sd card. Amazing app. You also must have "Barcode Scanner" installed for this to work.
Thanks forHelp
Thanks for the suggestions.I already started scanning my Blu Rays.

Anyone able to help me out on this?
When I use Barcode Scanner with My Collection it does not stay open. When I use it alone it does stay open. I think for shopping Shop Savvy is better.
I was actually only looking for something to scan QR codes... I just learned that Goggles scans them... so I just uninstalled Shopsavvy. Thanks though...
com.ixellence.ixmat.android.community uses the same library but offers a resizeable preview window and scans even more barcode types.

Idea for grocery list app

Ok, I thought of this idea for a new grocery list app, but since I have zero programming experience (nor the desire to learn...I know enough to know it's not my cup of tea), I figured I would throw it out there and see if anyone who was capable would be interested in doing it.
Basically, it would be an app that included barcode scanning capabilities (or an interface with an existing barcode scanner app). When you open a new grocery list, you can scan barcodes directly into it to add new items to the list, or just manually enter new items, and adjust the amount. Also, a GPS integration that allows you to tag the stores you frequent, and then automatically pops up the list (along with some sort of audible alert) when you get to the store.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that not only frequently forgets to create shopping lists, but then tends to forget the list itself when I decide to go to the store (not to mention almost always forgetting at least one item).
I would definitely buy an app like this if it's ever released. Thoughts?
There at at LEAST half a dozen grocery apps on the Market which scan the barcodes and populate your list from that data.
Haven't seen any which tie to the GPS, but considering what they'd need to do in order to do that, I don't see that as a very useful function honestly. Besides, I drive by my grocery every time I leave the house, I wouldn't want my grocery list popping up on top of Waze every time, personally.
Well, not all of us drive on our grocery store sidewalks...but yeah, I see your point. If it would take too much effort to include just the additional GPS notification portion, it's not worth it. Like I said, zero programming experience, so I have no clue what would be involved in programming that sort of functionality.

There is one that uses location information, although I don't remember if it uses GPS or the rough-location. It takes your list and compares it to nearby stores to get the prices.
I think the name had "Savvy" in it, like "Savvy Shopper" or something.
I use dropbox, I place a txt file in dropbox folder on my pc and I can fill it in when I remember something and when shopping I can access latest list.
Also handy if my girlfriend remembers something when I have left, she can add it
can also access from work....
GroceryIQ does most of what you want, excepting the GPS function. I use Tasker to launch GroceryIQ when I pull into the parking lot of my frequent stores. Another benefit of GroceryIQ is that you can edit your list on the internet using any web browser, when you do so, your list is updated on your device also. Tracks history, so you can look at previous purchases to reference for list compliation.
And yes, it has a barcode scanner function. You must have Barcode Scanner app installed. It does not have a database for storebranded items, but you can add them manually.
GroceryIQ is what I currently use... even though it's slow as balls sometimes, it's the better one I've tried so far.
Mighty Grocery comes somewhat close, but its interface makes NO sense.. I suppose I just need to get used to it, but it's handy to scan items into Grocery IQ.

[Q] An online tool that can be really helpful on the go!!

I have recently come across a website that saves your thoughts, notes, passwords and everything on the go!!
the best part is it is on the cloud so one can access it from any smart device connected to the internet, also it has no sign up fee and hidden charges, simply save it on the mobile phone and keep your records with you where ever you go. The name is called anotepad.
I would like to know if there is any other site in comparison which provides the same features?
I would check out simplenote and Evernote. Evernote has quite a few options while simplenote is well.... simple.

Best comic book reader?

Anyone going to be using this to read comics/manga? Any recommendations on comic book reader apps?
I want one that can read from a cloud drive. The only one i've seen that can do this is the Challenger comics viewer app.
there also is CatComic which cost money but is worth it.

I tried it and its almost perfect, but seems to be missing one feature that I'm looking for.
I want to be able to tap to scroll, where the comic will scroll for me down the page when i tap the screen. And after it reaches the bottom, the next tap will turn the page. Do you know if Comicat has this feature?
unsure if it does, most of the time i just use the volume keys.
edit,
i just know of one viewer which does it for sure and that is Perfect Viewer but this one doesnt support cloud storages.
I would go with ComicRack. Though it costs money for the fully featured version, it is by far the best reader I have used. It also has a PC counterpart that will sync everything with it, like info, and where in the books you are.

ComicRack has the most robust features of all. However, Astonishing Comic Reader https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aerilys.acr.android has some Material Design, has no ads, and only has donations if you so choose.
ComicRack is awesome, but it is just too ugly for me!
I've always used this and found it very good.
Has been removed some time ago from play store, but developer keep working on it and you can download it from his website
http://www.manga-watcher.com/
I have been a long time user of ComicRack, but I just tried out the Astonishing Reader, and ... It's pretty good, but not enough to sway me away from ComicRack.
The ability to automatically group and sort by series, as well as other variables for a large collection is invaluable.
And when i loaded up a comic and paged through, while nice, it wasn't quite as silky smooth as I can get on ComicRack, there seemed to be a flash of loading with each page change.
Just my 2 cents, it might work great for you, thanks for the recommendation though, always worth checking out what else is out there, rather than getting complacent with "what I've always used"
moon+ reader is good

:good: +1. BY FAR THE BEST!
Buka HD(ibuka.cn) seems perfect for this 4:3 screen (it has been optimized for Xiaomi MiPad, also 4:3), but it is only available in Chinese Language. The HD version can use the whole screen of N9, instead of having black bar on both sides). The online sources on Buka are also plenty enough.
Does ComicRack let you read comics from cloud services like CatComic?
I am also interested in this. It would be good experience for me.
ComicRack for offline comics and MangaWatcher for online (not available on google play but maintained) hands down the best of each world.
Comiccat is hands down the best. Syncs with the cloud as all and auto caches next issue from Dropbox so you can read through your whole library from the cloud. You can even set it to delete locally cached copies after reading.

I use both ComicRack and Comicat. One thing that I really don't like about Comicat is that when you sync to issues in the cloud, you get no cover art. That bugs me beyond belief.

ComiCat is the best and u can read of google drive
another vote for comicrack. i had already paid for the desktop version so getting the the android version was a no-brainer. love the sync and the ability to sort titles. i got them sorted by published date so i can go through my old stuff chronologically like when i used to buy them as a kid.
