to send you text alerts for scores etc. (disable in settings)

Looks like it only works in the U.S.A.
Anyway to get around this?

when I tried to open it, it says can't connect to nfl mobile please establish a network connection first.
I am on att.
Edit- it works with wifi.

That is really weird. I am on att and mine works on wifi but does not work on 3G

That's weird. I cannot get it to work on 3G...only wifi, which sucks because if I have a wifi signal generally I have access to a TV as well. This app is best for when you're out and about and want to follow games.
Oh well still very cool and thanks to those that made this work!

For those having problems getting this app to work on ATT via 3G:
open the app using wifi: navigate to the main page of the app(news and videos with the option to watch NFL network on the right)
Now, exit the app by hitting your Nexus home button: now go and shut off wifi: now go back to the app and all should now work via 3G.
These steps are working for me and I can now watch NFL network live via 3G. The important thing is to make sure and open the app with wifi activated, and leave it open while you switch to 3G.

Got it. So we wont be billed, or charged or anything. I see the License Agreement right here.. Also does anyone have an APK to get this to work on the Droid X without paying for vcast? or will this APK work on the Droid X

Hey as far as I know this will work on any android phone (unlocked to all carriers), however live doesn't work on Evil's rom but, videos work. On my girls vibrant, live works and videos, going to test and see if it works on vanilla. If you are with Verizon and are trying to avoid getting charged via vcast I don't know if this will result in a bill or not.

Is there an APK around for the NHL Gamecenter app? According to the NHL website one is available on the market for certain phones. Nexus one doesn't seem to be one that is is offered for, but as a GameCenter Live subscriber I am hoping that it will still work.

Just use Market Access to change your provider to Verizon (Code: 310004) then all three versions will show up in the market.

Is there anyway to get this app (non-verizon) without rooting your phone to install Market Access? If not, I guess this gives me an excuse to finally play around with rooting.

I didn't know about that app, getting it now to test it out. Thank you VERY much.

The Market Access way works very well. I'm very conflicted though. I already pay for game center and to use this i'd have to pay an additional 80 dollars? Pretty lame. It should be provided free for subscribers.. This makes me want to just pirate the damned thing.
EDIT: On the live version test so far, I'm not able to play any highlights or anything.. says video can not be played.. not sure if it is my Work Wifi network or if they have some tie to the verizon network preventing it from working elsewhere... or if it only works on current season stuff, since all the highlights are post-season/last season things. We'll see if the coming days i suppose.

my concern would be paying the 80 bucks for the app and either:
1. The app stops working because I'm not on Verizon
2. They do the same thing as the online package and black out the Blackhawks (I live in Chicagoland, but don't have cable)

Local blackouts do apply.
I'm a SoCal Red Wings fan so I don't have to worry too much about that.

Isn't NHL Gamecenter Live the one with the $80/year sub fee (or it isn't that?)? How does that work if you sideload this?

Is there a reason why I can watch the Hawks game now? Lol

It is the one w the $80 fee, but it is different from the free app, u can have both installed..like I did on accident lol

NHL Gamecenter Live is the highest version which includes live games.
The other two versions are NHL Gamecenter and NHL Gamecenter Premium.

So here's a question for all you fine folks here, how do we remove the blackout restrictions? I'm in detroit, and was trying to test the chicago game, but it says im blacked out. I dont believe that is true, I should only be blacked out of detroit games. I turned the gps off and tried it, but it still must get the signal from the cell triangulation.
Can anyone hack this to remove the location check??
EDIT: actually just got the Edmonton feed working, however, it only works on wifi. Anyway to remove the verizon 3g check?

Thanks for the NHL app!!! I have a couple questions. Was it unlocked in a similar way to the NFL app(uses a demo phone number from some Verizon store)? Any chances Verizon finds out if I have it on my EVO? Also, when I watch highlights, they seem kind of choppy, like ever 2 seconds it gliches/stumbles a frame. Does anyone else experience that? I guess it's because the app was just released, so hopefully they fix that in the future. And another thing, when you click schedule/scores it actually doesn't show the final scores for the games...what hell, who thought of that?

Has anyone ported the Uverse app for Hero yet?

I saw on one of my Android RSS feeds that the AT&T Uverse .apk was released and that it is not locked down by carrier and already verified to be able to work on verizon.
Has anyone began working on porting that to the Hero and Sprint? Any of you Uverse customers?
I would be willing to donate if someone has the skills/time to make this work. Let me know.

I just set a show to record while watching tv. A few seconds later the red light came on so it works. It said our device isn't supported for high resolution videos that are downloaded so you have to settle for low res. Oh well I am only going to use the guide and record anyway but might see what they got to download.

For the meantime, it only shows SNF, RED ZONE, and NFL Network. When TNF starts, it will also show that. Also, on the nfl network, they do tons of nfl replay from the prior sunday games.

I downloaded this from the market a few months ago. Last week I rooted and flashed SkyRaider 3.3. I downloaded it from the market again and it still doesn't mention anything about charging me for anything or subscribing to anything..
What exactly happens, and how does the market know that my phone downloaded the app a while ago? Is it all google account based and not device?
If that's the case, when I buy a new phone, do my purchased apps transfer?

This doesn't seem to work for me. I installed it fine but when I went to run it I get an error stating with some code and mention that I need to be a Verizon subscriber in order to use it. I am running Skyraider 3.3.4. I used previously with Uncommon Sense and had no problem. Any help would be appreciated!

I have the same error.

I am using the Desire Z rom and it doesnt work either, since it is based off a non Verizon rom. I am told that Skyraider uses some Evo framework an Evo is a sprint phone, that could be the problem. I am just guessing here but it makes sense to me.
OK I am wrong... I went to my nandroid backup of the latest OTA release and I still get the not a verizon subscriber error

Same issue..no go??

[Q] Skype Mobile from DINC 2 Rom system dump.Developer needed to modify S.P check

Ive got the skype mobile apk installed and running on the evo 4g cm7 rom.... the only problem is that it check to see what network you are on, and if its not verizon its a no go.... even on roam only it say call verizon and have plan upgraded. so theres no out smarting it.... can a developer go into the files and crack it to not search for service provider.... or accept sprint as a provider? we are so much closer to true mobile skype. thanks

What makes you think it's a network check vs. a hardware/firmware/phone check? Just curious, but either way should *in theory* be easy to emulate or bypass.

I just figured because when i was on sprints 3g it said you must have verizon... but when i set my phone to roam only on verizons network, it then said call verizon and have mobile data plan updated, so i used deductive reasoning to assume that its probably testing network some how... idk tho. can you try to edit the files?

I downloaded the attached apk and ran some tests... OP is right, the app does go over the mobile network to verify that you are connected to Verizon. I was connected to WiFi and it used my mobile network all of a sudden to try to login, so i disabled the mobile data and it wont login...

I wonder why they went that route... Now the verizon cant use skype over wifi only..... But yea I kinda knew it was testing the network..... Any luck modifying the files any one?

I would like to add that I tried using airplane mode with wifi on and it doesn't let you sign on. It says not available over wifi. The verizon check has to be bypassed.

I thought this had video chat. isn't regular skype already in the market? i don't use it, I just thought it was already there so i thought this was video chat skype

The app is fairly obfuscated, but I might poke at it a bit...

tryed the apk on xoom and it worked fine. Didn't see any video support.

hmmmmm looks like we were tricked... my understanding was that this version is "Skype Mobile Live" is different than the "Skype" in the market. they even have different icons.... and it was supposedly supposed to have video. maybe its only mobile to mobile video. idk but if its just the same app, its not worth the trouble. But i recall at a hands on they said it had video support.

Well I got past the "requires verizon wireless" check.
I'll mess around with it more at home tonight.

there is no need to mess around with this app. the op has tricked us. this app is the same app that is already in the market available for all phones. skype did show an updated video chat app but this isn't it.
