Hi guys.
I found this hotfix:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=140&cat=0&dl_id=570
It's designed for to help GPS to determine the position, does anybody know if this works and if this reduces the GPS lag?
Thanks a lot.
If you want to wait 10 min for a lock after a soft reset, then the hotfix is for you. It just cleans out ephemeris data. It's ok if you having a major problem getting a fix, but having it run at startup kind of sucks. I just have a link to it (cleangpsdata.exe) in my start menu, and only use it if my gps is acting like poop.

Hello there, Quick question.
I recently upgraded TomTom Navigator 7 on my SE XPERIA X1 from version 7.450.9028 to version 7.910.9185 mainly for the fixes for a WVGA screen e.g. larger buttons and text.
However, I have found that the phone always seems to freeze when using TTN7. I never found this with the previous version however, the improvements are too improved to revert back to the old version.
Is this problem caused by the application or the phone as the screen becomes unresponsive when freezing (e.g. it doesn't vibrate on tap) giving the idea that the phone's memory is full when running the application and causing the phone to slow down.
Cheers,
Hyped
I have been experiencing the same issue on my Xperia X1 that you've had Hyped. I am actually running version 7.915.9196. Basically, TomTom will be fine UNTIL it gets a GPS fix. Once that has happened, it is only a matter of 1-2 mins before the whole phone locks up, requiring a battery cover removal + reset button fix.
I also don't want to revert to the previous version, but I'm thinking it may have to come to this I have the ATI D3D driver installed from the Diamond, and I'm planning on removing it to test, but I don't think TomTom calls D3D at all (in fact, im 99% sure), so I doubt this will fix the issue.
Looking for more insight from anyone else, or if there's a newer version of TT7 that we're missing out on.
Mine is touch and go, When it hasn't got a GPS fix, it'll freeze at random moments e.g. when the keyboard is up.
I tried it yesterday in the car and experienced the same problem as you, as soon as it got a GPS fix it froze up and required a soft reset.
Can anyone help me, I have just bought a nexus s but I can't get any fix with my a-gps. Google maps and navigation don't find any fix...
Go outside where you have a clear view of the sky, stand still, and wait. If the first fix takes longer than 20 minutes, then you have a problem.
OTA to 2.3.3 and now no fix

What is your gingerbread version?
When I fist got my SNS, I thought a little hard to lock satelites. If you are in movement like in a car, it´s kind of dificult. But in clear sky, without moving, it locks in a minute or less.
At the actual version, 2.3.3, at clear sky is quite fast to lock on satellite...
Hi,
I have an original Optimus 3D (also no root)...
At first the GPS works as expected, fast fix good localisation, but after a while (30secs or so) the icon in the status bar dissapears and I don't get any fix anymore...
Then I have to disable GPS and enable GPS again to get a fix again...
I allready tried to clear AGPS data but it didnt have any effect
can anyone help me?
Thanks
Edit: If I'm not able to get a signal (perhaps in an building) the symbol doesn't disappear so the problem is only when I get a fix...
Hello
I have a HTC HD2 flashed with ParanoidAndroid 1.5b. I was trying to run the Sygic GPS navigator but it crashes after a while with ICS. This is not a problem with the ROM but with the application. So far so good. However, I found out that since the application opened the GPS to try to get a fix, when it crashed it left the GPS "on" (although the icon on the status bar disappeared after a while). I tried another GPS navigation program but it couldn't get a fix. I thought it was the GPS configuration, so I changed it to reflect my region (Europe, Greece). But to no avail. Whatever I tried, I couldn't get a fix. I rebooted the device and tried GPS status, it got a fix after a minute or so. If I run Sygic (which crashes) again, it is impossible to get a GPS fix afterwards. If an application that uses the GPS crashes while the GPS is on, it leaves the sensor working. However, there is no indication that there is a problem, as the icon disappears after a while, and gets back on when another app tries to use the sensor. It just can't get a fix. What's more, the battery starts to drain after that (easy to spot with Current Widget, since the draw goes from 6-7mAh to 105-107mAh)
Switching the GPS on and off (from the notification drawer) does not fix the problem. The only solution is to reset the device.
My question (finally) is: is there another solution to "resetting" the sensor to its original (after the boot) state?
Best regards
George
I've searched high and low, but haven't been able to find a solution to this issue, hopefully somebody here has a good answer for this one.
I'm trying to run Waze in the foreground and DailyRoads Voyager in the background while driving, but any time DRV is running, Waze can't get a GPS lock. If I shut down DRV, I get a GPS lock quickly and without issue. The issue doesn't appear to be app related, as I can generate the same symptoms using other camera apps and 'gps status'.
I've seen a few references on other forums where people with S3's are having the same issue, but I haven't found a resolution yet. I'm running the current OTA build, never rooted/tweaked.
Any ideas?

This is a seriously random suggestion, but did you try turning off geotagging in the main camera app?

I just double-checked, and GPS tagging was already turned off in the stock camera app. Thanks for the idea though!
Can anybody else confirm if they see this behavior as well?
Since my first post I've tried rooted OTA, ran numerous CM10.1 builds (doing full wipes in between), leanKernel, testing along the way all without any real success. It seems a little hit and miss, on occasion (maybe 10% of the time) it seems to work, but in those times GPS still takes 5-10min to get a lock usually has less accuracy than when using GPS apps alone w/o the camera on.
When the camera isn't in use, I typically get a GPS lock in <30 sec (sometimes in just a few seconds).
