profile switcher for CHome LIKE SPB Phone Suite - General Questions and Answers

Here's what I have:
Fuze/ATT
ROM - Windows MobileĀ® 6.5.x
CE OS 5.2.23533 (Build 23541.5.5.0)
Radio - 1.14.25.35
Protocol - 52.64c.25.35U
The Captain's Special - Sense 2.1 - Build 23541 - FUZE Edition
I like the CHome setup ... but.
I use SPB phone suite, and SPB has basically said they have no interest in dealing with titanium - they are only supporting it as a today screen plugin.
So, it looks like my best bet to have the functionality of all three things (if I want it) is to use TFDetacher AND SecondToday, have second today run phone suite and launch on start up, and have TFDetacher load the WindowsDefault home screen with TF3D as a toggled item.
My question to you:
Do you know of any profile switcher program designed as a titanium plugin that I could then use CHome Editor to add to the home screen?
The functionality that phone suite has, that I have not seen in other programs like phoneweaver, is to establish whitelists and blacklists of phone numbers that can be tied to a time based profile, so that, for example, only family can reach me at night ....
edited to add:
It seems to be working with Co0kie's Home Tab, and second today set as a quick link, WITHOUT telling it to run at start up.
I'd still like to find something that can become a Titanium plugin, because right now, I am NOT using TFDetacher because having that and SecondToday running at the same time seemed to be wicked laggy (yes, I'm in Boston).

Please suggest useful applications

Im getting my touch pro either tomorrow or the day after. I was just wondering what software applications would be good to have on this device?? I have seen throttlelock v 0.2, which i will try....if there any other cool applications please post them.
Thanks
Useful Apps.
For me HTC TouchFlo is great but flawed by the lack of being able to see more than 2 future calendar items.
Therefore in addition to TouchFlo I'm using SecondToday, which adds a second Today screen, you can then map one of the SoftKey on TouchFlo to display the second Today screen:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-secondtoday.html
On SecondToday I've just got TodayAgenda running using the full second Today screen:
http://tiews.info/index.php?show=software/todayagenda&lang=en
And added to these I've got Batti installed, for a better indication of battery status:
http://code.google.com/p/batti/
Best of all, the above are all freeware.
I love the TF3D interface but the calendar items is very annoying.
so I switched to SBP mobile shell, and SBP diary (also have SBP weather too)
I do miss the funkyness of the touch flo, but my device is now much easier to use and gives me more information upfront.

Manilla or SPB Shell 2.1?

I haven't found any threads directly comparing the two... I'm tired of the boring today screen and even HTC Home. Which is better on the Wizard Manilla 2D or SPB Shell 2.1? I've tried Manilla and I really like it but it takes up a lot of resources and disables some apps I've come to rely on. (Battery Status, and Smartskey) I wanted to get some opinions before shelling (he he) out the greenbacks for SPB Shell.
What a stupid question!!!
Well don't I feel like an ass... Here you guys just got Manilla working on the Wizard and I'm asking which is better. I've seen threads for Manilla for a while now and never read any of them. I wasn't really interested in Manilla until I was browsing around and saw some of the skins. I thought I'd give it a try. Since I just went in last night and downloaded it and installed it with no problem, I assumed it has been working on Wizard for a while. In my defence I did search for a comparison but found none.
i vote foe manila
Iv tryed both and Manila is wey cooler and in new to wizard, bur SPB Shell its much much usfull so its your choice
i was a big spb mobile shell user when it 2+ first hit......I must admit...I now use Noonski's rom and I enjoy the device much much more...it's somehow made for our device where as mobile shell is universal plus with all the skins and clocks being rapidly designed and made available you can have whatever flavor you like....as with mobile shell....seems lately the designs are all just versions of the same concept...where m2d is fresh and to me faster as it is cooked into the rom...I had about 43 megs left on mine after flashing and right now I'm just trying to streamline and keep about half that while piling on the goodies I usually enjoy in my phone...using a 2g sd card I'm able to run much from there....unless mobile shell upgrades to 3 I'm going to say m2d wins

I had forgotten all about this question. Thanks for the answers. I'm back on the kick again and I was wondering if you still feel the same? I have tried M2D as a add on and cooked directly into the ROM. I have still yet to try SPB Mobile Shell. I may just get off the fence and do it. Worse thing could happen is I have to flash back to my HTC Home.

I tested twice solutions, it's my opinion:
M2D:
Positive
- Very excellent look
- Very fast, reponsive
- Switch window animated
- Several weather cities
- Most smart panel
Negative
- Memory leak
- Not stable (plugin reboots unexpectly)
- Memory used (+15Mb storage and +8Mb ram) with all apps needed
- Seems doen't work with S2U2
- Get pad action when using other programs
- Task switch to front automaticaly
- Landscape problems
- cannot show multiple calendar events
- poor weather city
- Must install all HTC programs (music player, pictures, ...)
SPB shell 2.1
Positive
- Less storage and ram memory (- 5Mb ram)
- Compatible S2U2
- Skinable (look of M2D, Xperia X1, WM7)
- Stable
- Cities for weather (Valenciennes is in the list)
Negative
- Less responsive
- M2D skin very slow
- Only one city for the weather
- S2U2 weather does not work
- Cannot have the standard windows taskbar and softkeys
- Today SPB plugin different with M2D today skin window.
- Strange organization of functions...
In conclusion, there is no perfect version, I reloaded Clean Rom and re-used standard WM today screen (battery status, calendar, time, messaging...)

1) Yes there is a bit of a memory leak but with tools like QuickMenu and Oxios Hibernate you can reclaim this
2) The issues with this plugin being unstable can be overlooked by the price tag
3) What taskmanager are you using ? M2D Built into wizflo weighs in at 5mb storage and 3.5 mb ram.
4) You dont need all the HTC Programs, use M2DC to disable the tabs you dont use
Great info guys. That is the kind of input I've been looking for. Thanks.

I have tried SPB Mobile Shell many times i made my custom made configuration and i think it works great, i have never had problems with it. I was wondering that it worked fast enough on HTC Wizard. No problems with cities in weather. It consumes a bit more of RAM and storage and it is necessary to install it in the device memory. Another bad thing about SPB mobile shell is that after installing it on the Wizard it booted very slowly after soft reset it took about 2 minutes until the device boot up. But anyway all these apps M2D, SPB Mobile Shell, TouchFLO etc are looking great but i do not like em. I like standard WM today screen with battery status, messages, today agenda, it is the only way to see all the necessary things on the today screen!
BEtter?
M2D is free..
spb yooou have to buy....
I am a believer of the bet things in life are free...

The NO TF3D Customization thread

I was just wondering how many people do not run the TF3D program on their TP or Fuze? And to those who do not run it what do your home screens look like? WHat programs do you customize your phone with? Just wondering cause I was going to get off the TF3D wagon for a while just for a change.
I use SPB shell and suite.
After a week with the Tilt, the excitement of TF3D wore off, so I finally removed it from the phone. I'm now running a VGA version of HTC Home, which I really like. Of course, nothing is perfect, and current problems are:
1. No customization program for VGA version of HTC Home
2. Contacts tab doesn't work (don't care about this, as I don't use that tab anyway)
3. Weather tab works, but available cities are limited
4. Program launcher tab only has room for 9 programs
Below the HTC Home section of my main screen, I also have my calendar, a Live Search plugin (for web searches right from the desktop), and a device locking button.
The only thing I miss from TF3D is the Intenet tab; I liked having the tab list my favorite pages.

What is the first few things you do / install after you flash a new ROM?

I want to see what kind of apps and or tweaks you guys do upon flashing a new ROM. If you use UC or Sashi whatever to auto customize (haven't used either yet) what cabs do you auto-install or what settings do you auto-tweak (if that's an option)?
I personally pop open Fuze Tweak / Diamond Tweak along with Advanced Config and start messing with those settings, turning on battery saving stuff, updating touch sensitivity etc.
What do you do?
My stuff
UC:
Registry: Owner Information
Cab: eWallet
Delete sample Wallet that was installed
Registry: info for eWallet
Install SpriteBackup
Install HandyShopper
After:
Set volume levels and ring tone.
Add my contacts to the TF3D tab
Add my cities to TF3D weather
Setup email account.

I load up xda-developers and check the raphael forum for new posts
install msvc, sync to mail2web for contacts and then blackberry connect... thats about it... i slowly configure settings on days when im bored until it's all good.
Restore PIM BACKUP files, so that the phone is ready again.
Then play with the programs and settings, and se responsiveness.
Then go to sleep.
Mobile Shell 3...can't live without it...Pandora. Good thread b/c I will be looking for interesting apps to install.
Soti Pocket Controller. I'm an old fart and don't like staring at the screen when I'm setting my phone up. Plus, once in a while I'll get someone that would rather text me 1,523 times instead of calling me, so being able to use the keyboard to type without having to use the stylus or flip out keyboard is nice.

Upgraded to wm6.1 missing clock..

Hi,
I have just the otherday managed to upgrade my HTC Touch to an actual official WM6.1 OS supplied by HTC (belive it or not!). Since I bought the phone in Bangkok I have had to wait for the relese of the HTC Thailand upgrade.
It included the ThouchFLO 2d (which I recon sux....can't change a thing about it), but I really liked the big clock in wm6.0. Is there a way to download a file somewhere to get the clock (a clock) to show up at the "settings/today/items"?
I have had a look at the Throttle launcher, M2D but can't really get any of them to work properly....anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
/F
my device:
HTC Touch P3452 ELF0100, WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19972 (build 19972.1.2.7)
ROM 3.07.707.02 WWE, 10/25/08
Radio 03.34.90
Not sure what you mean about big clock but do a search for HTC Home plug-in (I think the latest cab is version 2.1) and see if that is what you are after. Otherwise, have you tried the Manila 2D customizer tool (M2DC)? I don't know if it works on shipped roms TF2D but it might let you change certain aspects of TF2D.
Good luck
Hi,
Yes sorry for being a bit unclear....what I ment was ofcourse the digital clock display at the HTC Default Home screen. I have tried the HTC Home plug-in but it, as for so many others (feedback) freezes and forces me to hard reset.
The problem occurs when I turn off the Touchflo 2D in favour of other themes, I get no option to display a clock on the today screen (under items to display). Hence downloaded themes comes out as plain as can be without anything but a background, start and bottom bar.
I would like to have a digital clock display as for the previous HTC Default Home screen....or similar clock at least.
I read somewhere that you could display/hide the clock by changing registry values under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CClock, Disabled to 0, as per this website. I have chacked in that location but found no such registry value named cclock.
Staring to think I might be actually a bit stupid for missing something very simple.....you never know until someone tells you!
I hope I made myself a bit more clear...
/F
Well it sounds like you know what you are doing so I don't want to sound too "teachy". But what you are doing in the Item screen is turning off a Today plug-in (TF2D). AFAIK, everything that would appear on the Today screen is displayed as a plug-in. Your rom opted to show the TF2D plug-in. This plug-in overrides all others in the item screen so in order to use another plug-in, you must uncheck the TF2D plug-in. So with no plug-ins selected, you will have a blank Today screen.
There are several plug-ins you can install as alternatives to TF2D such as HTC Home, RLToday, etc. Just query Today plug-ins. Once installed you can initialise them from the Items screen. It is a little worrying that HTC Home crashes on your device. You might try a soft reset (small hole, poke with stylus) or uninstall it and reinstall it. It might be that you've run out of Program memory (Settings-->System--Memory). A soft reset will free it up again. I hope some of this is helpful.
