Must-Have Widgets for Helix Launcher - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Hi!
Hopefully I haven't missed a thread somewhere here that has already addressed this, but I wanted to make a central thread for non-Sense users.
I love Helix, but I miss certain Sense widgets like Messaging, Mail, Music, and Friendstream. I've noticed a lot of people swear by Helix, so I'd love to know what kind of little gems Helix users have found to make it even more functional than Sense.
If anyone would like to post links or upload some apks and better yet, post some screenshots, that would be so awesome. I'm getting tired of switching back and forth between launchers because one has something the other doesn't.
If we all share what we use and what we know, maybe we can put together an update.zip with widget apks for use with Helix that rivals the Sense package.

I would like to know this too. I would love to have my clock widgets...

Here is what I use:
1. Beautiful Widgets -> Not free
2. Smooth Calendars -> Free

http://androidsocialmedia.com/general/my-favorite-free-android-widgets
I found this when I googled android widgets, thought it might be useful.
A big thing that hit me here is that finding these kinds of articles and screenshots can give me some great ideas on how to set up my home pages.
Exciting stuff!

Going "Vanilla"/Non-Sense- PLEASE post your widgets!

So... I'm trying to slowly step away from Sense as Im beginning to really get frustrated with the lag and the memory hogging.
I'd like to use the Helix Launcher, or something simliar... but I can't really find any good widgets!
Like, I love the HTC clock/weather. I've tried "Beautiful Widgets" but its really not so beautiful for $2.
So, let this kind of be a "post some screenshots" of your favorite widgets.
I love to show off my phone, and making the phone's UI both efficient and sexy at the same time.
However the stock android widgets are just plain as hell, and the Market is as you all know impossible to browse through.

beautiful widgets are perfect.. I think some ppl here even use them over the htc clock even when using sense.. There are tonss of skins to choose from, you just have to download them (from the app, without having to install any extra app). And it also includes all the toggles like wifi and it even has a smaller version of the clock that takes less room
I'm gonna vote BW as well. After downloading a nice theme from inside the app, this thing beats the crap out of the HTC clock any day (for me anyways). Other than that, I don't really know. I would like to hear of some other nice widgets to use
mixzing music player has an awesome music widget and its free defintely recommend

Thousands?
When I was browsing through the clock widgets I only found like 30 or so... wouldn't load anything else after that.
Maybe I'll give it another shot I guess. Only $2 right?
i wouldnt mind going vanilla if there was anything similiar to the bookmark widget, my most used widget. also, i just LOVE the htc weather clock widget with the animations, BW doesnt offer that (i know about the animations upon entering the app, but its not the same as weather animation wallpapers)

Lol he isnt saying thousands to choose from.. he was saying +10000 to liking BW
1. It's 2 bucks... 2 DOLLARS!
2. The phone is so much snappier running Helix, and ASOP, especially running the IC3 ROM.
I didn't think I would like things without the HTC sense stuff... but it runs so smooth, and the BW gets pretty close to looking just like sense.
I don't see BW as being that great. I feel it is kind of sluggish, which imo doesn't justify going away from Sence. And I have tried it. Don't much like the pure apps either. But it's all choices I guess.
Sense works perfect for me. No sluggishness at all!
Sense is very sluggish for me unless I constantly kill unused apps. I just downloaded Home and Helix, I am going to try both of them with BW, which I downloaded a few weeks ago to use with Launcher PRO.
Here's my home screen.
Running DarchDroid 2.7 with Launcher Pro.
Beautifull Smaller Home Widget, as well as SetCPU, Brightness, and GPS widgets
The simpler the better for me.
Just the People widget is out at this time, but it sounds like more widgets will be coming to LauncherPro Plus soon

Thanks, jniggle for actually giving the OP what he wanted! Nice home screen, btw!

don't know if you've seen OneClick widgets, but you might try it out. I think you would like the icons next to your other transparent stuff.

(Req/Bounty) Sense Message widget for non-sense launchers

I'm putting this out there, cuz I'm pretty sure everyone wants some sense widgets. I know JsChiSurf is like.... RIDICULOUSLY good at hacking things up and getting them working...so...if he, or anyone else wants to take a shot. I'd love to have the htc sense message widget (and even bookmarks widget) working on Non-Sense launchers. Is there anyway someone can
a) Create one from scratch that looks/acts just like the sense ones?
or
b) hack up the htc ones to work with launchers like...launcher pro, or helix, awd, etc.
I'd be willing to donate good money if someone could get this working....and I'm sure others would as well.
Post a reply if you'd be willing to donate...maybe then we'd generate more interest for devs to work on it.
The dev for launcher pro is working on recreating all of the sense widgets. I know its $2.99 for the plus version which allows you to get the extra widgets. Right now he has people widget, calander widget, and bookmark widget along with some new features.. Check it out here > http://www.launcherpro.com/?cat=3
+1 for LauncherPro Plus
In case you also want the number counts on the dailer/messages/gmail icons like Sense does, there is an app called SMS Unread Count.
http://android.kanokgems.com/sms-unread-count
Contrary to its name, you can make a widget for SMS, Gmail, and the Dialer. And bonus for you, for each widget you add you can choose the icon you want:
-"classic" aka 1.5 vanilla
-"eclair" aka 2.1 vanilla
-"hero" aka Sense
Thanks guys! That's great info. I'll download lunch plus pro right now...I was looking around his website a few days ago because I heard someone say he could get sense widgets working (on this forum), but when I went to his site's forum, I saw that his most recent post said "sorry guys....there is no way to get sense widgets working". Hopefully his will be just as good.
Thanks again for the info!

Hey Gomorrah! Long time no talk. I just downloaded it, and it's pretty slick! I still like the way the sense one looks a little better...but this will definitely do!
Our phones are getting slicker by the day! By the way...the "Post Your Screen Shot's" thread, should be called "Gomorrah's Phone Will Always Look 10 Times Cooler Than Yours" thread!
Good work man!
A scrollable rss news widget which aggregates all feeds into a single stream, like the one included with sense would be amazing. Thats the only thing I miss since leaving sense.

sense 4.0 folders

is it possible to increase the limit? it stops at 16 apps/shortcuts but itd be cool if it could be unlimited had have a scroller to go through the list like with golauncher

It's seriously one of the most annoying things I've ever come across in a modern day operating system. I can't believe there isn't more outrage about this. There are many good things about the latest Sense OS, including its widgets, and its cleanliness and efficiency over previous Sense versions. However, the shortcut limit within folders is absolutely and unequivocally unforgivably ridiculous.
Have you or anyone else found a solution or workaround for this? I would use a different launcher, except I really do need the sense widgets with their unified hook to tasks, email, calendar, and other features that are very important for my work.
Thank you,
/e
I have 25 apps in my folder now. I do use Nova launcher prime and you can change the limits. I know you didn't want another launcher but I don't think you would be disappointed with Nova. Or Nova prime. You might give it a try and see what you think. The customisation is wonderful. It has some great effects also if you like that sort of thing. I use cube effect. It looks as if my apps are in a 3D cube. That revolves. You should try it. You can also change effect of items in folder if you like. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Buzz launcher

hey people. I just made this thread to let you all know about buzz launcher which I accidentally found on market and I think is brilliant. Basically it lets you upload your homescreen so that other people can directly download it and transform their phone like yours and of course you can also download other people's homescreens as well. Everything is included even the widgets they use and icon packs and all, as direct links to the market apps either from the download homescreen section or directly from the downloaded homescreen by pressing on the faint (non downloaded) widgets and being directed to the market for dl. Anyway give it a try and let me know. Will upload some homescreens when I am home. It is amazing what you can do with a couple of clicks...
i've seen this launcher and it's pretty interesting, some say it lags but im guessing it depends on the type of phone you have....
I may try it out myself later
nice find. more of a homescreen sharing app than a launcher, it really rocks. And the buzz widget is really flexible. You can almost make anything you want out of it be it clock, weather widget or many other thing and any combo...

[Q] Categorised app drawer like TagHome?

Hello,
Does anyone know of a HomeScreen/Launcher app that is similar to "For 2.2+, Tag Home(Launcher)" that is compatible with Android 4.2+ ?
Namely, the categorised app drawer.
I used TagHome on my Nexus One for four years and loved it, but it's not compatible with SGS4/Android 4.2+.
I have done a lot of searching and experimenting, the only one I could find that comes close is "ADWLauncher EX".
But the setup and maintenance of app's categories is horrible compared to the simplicity of TagHome.
***
To clarify the setup, in TagHome you go: edit mode, select an app then choose it's category.
Where as in ADWex, you go: edit mode, select a category then choose all the apps that belong to it.
***
It might not seem like a big deal but it means the difference between scrolling through and scrutinising all your apps only once or many, many times.
Also, after the initial setup, when new apps are installed, there is no having to search for them among all apps in order to categorise them.
I have tried contacting the developers of both apps. No response from either.
But ADW did add an uncategorised tab, though it's pointless with the above described setup/edit mode they use.
I have a very large collection of apps and games and I like trying out new ones regularly. Being able to categorise my apps is important to me.
I'd love to hear any advice.
Thanks in advance.
Aussie Cheers,
Puppet Test Pilot
PS sorry if this post is in the wrong thread, admins feel free to move it.
Make me a Launcher like TakHome?
Me again..
I came across this "[HOW TO] Create your own Android Launcher (Video Series)" but its way beyond my abilities.
Would I be asking too much for someone here to please make me a Launcher like TagHome for Android 4.2+ ?
Kind regards,

Its kinda differet, but SmartLauncher is really great and amazingly fast
Or give Nova Launcher a try. Provides creating own app categories/tabs
Go launcher ex does that automatically.
Thank you LS.xD and Kobro, I'll check-out these three launchers and let you know what I think.
Cheers
Ok so I've played around with all three for an hour or so and I think I like Go Launcher EX, its really easy to categorise apps.
Smart Launcher was good but adding and changing categories is only available in Pro version.
Nova Launcher has no categories except in Pro version.
Thanks again
