Can someone help me figure out why this Morph doesn't work?
The path to the apk in the .thm file was incorrect, attached a fixed version.

Are you sure? Did it work for you?
/system/framework - framework is actually a simlink. If you go to this folder and pwd, it actually says /data/system-framework/.
Sadly, I was getting impatient, I actually just pulled the apk, changed the files, and pushed it back, so I can't test the Morph. Did the Morph you have work for you?

How long should it take to apply the frameworkres.apk??? its been appling for about 15mins now.
i tried a different theme, and metamorph didnt pick up the .thm file so i converted it, while installing it got to part 3 of 4 and restarted and now looks on different. Any ideas?
Ive tried 3 different themes still cant get the black status bar
if you have the newest metamorph, make sure you have a new style morph aswell, the old ones wont work with new metamorph unless the themer updated their morph

thanks for you help both of you, the zip files has no xml file in it, but its the latest got it from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637245
the kustom one. It contains no xml file at all, and the one i created from the .thm doesnt work.
I have the latest metamorph from andriod market v 1.9.8.3
EDIT: metamorph never asked me about busybox is this only need for older versions of metamorph?
anyone ?
Try THIS, credit goes to its creator (Danation @ ModMyMoto) All you have to do is put the .thm file in the same folder as this, then run the program. It makes an .xml file that you can put back in the Morph zip file, then you should be good to go. If it tells you it already has a valid xml file, tell it to make one anyways.
PS- follow the link, the version i uploaded is not the newest one

Hi thanks for your help i appreciated it! I already tried to create the xml file using that program, but when i try to apply it only applies some parts of the theme not the black bar. Ive got chrome icon and messaging icons but no black bar. Any ideas?
Ive tried so many different morphs that are meant ot change my status bar to black but still none that work, it seems to just change the clock font to white, so i can hardly see it. This is really frustrating, i think i better refund metamorph before its too late.
is morph of kspec working for others? Are they using their own made .xml file? is it making their topbar black?
What am i doing wrong? Do i need this busybox?
awesome forum!
I'm using the old Metamorph which as mentioned in another thread, supposedly works for 2.2. (Let me know if I should remove the apk.)
And I'm using an old morph file with a .thm (changes 3 png files).
However, when I apply the theme and reboot, I immediately get constant force closes. I have to pull the battery out and restore my backup.
What am I doing wrong? Attached are my files.
I get the same problem using a theme/morph.
I get certificate authentication errors on AndroidManifest.xml when I debug.
However, if I manually insert the new png's I don't get this problem. I can't explain why.
I can't resign the new framework-res.apk either (well I can brut force sign it but then it fails to install).
Am still looking into this. Although I suspect a morpher/themer will solve it before me.
thats because it simply does not work. The 2.2 hasnt got an odex file in the services.jar. Morphs ARE working but the clock and operator text will remain black as there is NO way to bypass that as of now.

We're discussing framework-res.apk though. The attached morph doesn't touch services.jar.
Having said that... services.jar is no longer used (in 2.2) for the text colours, they're all in framework so far as I can tell.

this is correct. I have changed only one png inside framework-res.apk, and tried to morph it.
The phone keeps looping...
works fine for me. Make sure that the images you are replacing are there however my thm from my CM506 still works after i converted the thm to xml

I tried but got a not signed error.
Though I don't think it would work anyway because I tried just pushing the framework apk through adb push, and the same result happened (1000x constant force closes).
Had to restore just the same as when using the morph (again, I didn't do anything but replace 3 png files).
The rom needs to be de-odexed........JF is hopefully working for an update for his app to get this done.
Changes will not take if the odex files are present.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make it work?
I can't seem to replace an icon in my framework-res.apk and I'm wondering if it's possible to create a flashable .zip file that'll overwrite the icon I want replaced in the file.
Attached is the alarm clock icon (with the proper file name) which I extracted from the Droid 2 framework-res.apk.
I want to replace the CM6 icon I'm using now w/ the Droid 2 icon I'm attaching.
I copy my apk to my computer, unzip it, replace 'stat_notify_alarm.png', zip it back up, rename to apk, use the 'Android-sign' droplet app (I'm on a Mac), push back to the system/framework folder, reboot, nothing... old icon still there.
1. Can someone tell what steps I'm missing?
2. Can someone create a flashable .zip that'll overwrite the icon?
Thanks!
Give me your framework-res.apk and I will do it for you signed and everything
I'd like to know how to do this too.
I also have a question about icons on the homescreen. Is there anyway to get rid of the text right underneath the icon?

As for creating a flashable zip, make your changes and then delete the 2 cert files and the manifest file inside the meta inf folder then sign it. You can use Avabox or the tool regaw just made.

*Note* my APK has a modded battery icon (don't know if that matters to you or not but better safe than sorry )
Wasssup fellas! Ok so I'm no themer but I've started to delve into your world a little bit. I'm looking to draw on the experience of any of you that have successfully modified the Rosie. So here's my set up
I've got Apktool set up in Ubuntu before you ask I downloaded 1.3.1 not 1.3.2
I have all the dependencies in place
I've installed the framework (apktool if com.htc.resources.apk)
Rosie.apk decompiles with no errors (apktool d Rosie.apk out)
I've modified /res/value/colors.xml to add transparency to the app drawer? (This may be my issue)
Compiled (cd out/ .......apktool b) compiles with no errors
I've tried this signing Rosie.apk, Not signing it, Copying out the "Res" and "Resource" file and going into the original Rosie.apk with Ark Manager without extracting the archive and dropped in the "Res and "Resource" files.
Same result each time when I push the file via ADB or put it in a flashable zip the phone boots goes through the animation capacitive keys light up then the phone gets stuck on the last frame of the boot animation and just hangs there forever no boot loops just hangs there?
Any help would be more than appreciated, thanks guys!

Rosie in my sky raider theme is working great. And I modified the png's inside it. Didn't need to do all of the things you did. I just themed the png's, zipped it up in an update.zip and then flashed it through recovery.
But I did not edit the colors.xml like you did. I left that alone.

Be sure to use the same com.htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk from the ROM you took Rosie from.

This means sense failed to load. The phone booted but sense does not work. If you have a back up launcher it would have defaulted to that. Good way to test is to install lp or launcher 2 so next time it will still load in.

The Rosie is part of the theme I'm using which comes with both the Framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk. Am I correct in using this set of framework files or should I be using the Rom's original framework?
What exactly are you trying to modify in rosie? Is it just the app drawer background? I can tell you that rosie has little to do with framework-res. The app drawer background colors are located in launcher.xml and allappsgridview.xml.

I mentioned the framework because apktool requires you to install it to decompile rosie.apk. I will check those xml's out. The failed boot may be because I edited the /res/values/colors.xml file. I don't have my virtual machine fired up but I did edit one of the all_apps strings in there from #ff000000 to #80000000 on the advice of a themer. This may be what f'd me up.

What changes should I make to the XML's for transparency? Also after I compile Rosie what do you recommend for a process in getting the new changes implemented? To clarify, should I rip the resources file and classes.dex out of the new compiled version and replace the ones in the stock Rosie? Ive tried about 20 different methods and I get force closes each time...thanks man!

If it compiled correctly you should be able to push the compiled version to /system/app with no trouble. There are 2 possibilities:
1) The apk got signed with whatever tool you are using and system apk's can't be signed this way. I think APKManager signed with the test cert automatically.
2) The changes in the xml's may not be correct for which we need to wait for deficitism to verify what was changed. Typically changing color attribs won't cause an FC though.
One thing you can try is to just extract the res folder, where the changes are, in the new Rosie to your PC and open the original with 7zip and drag that folder to the 7zip window. Then push that.

So what was the cure?
ive decompiled the apk and reziped it both unsigned and signed with the apk manager and for some reason whenever i edit the theme apk then reinstall or push it it shows 1/4 in the theme manager but only lets me select the 3 basic themes. its like the one i edited and pushed/installed is hidden..
searched but found nothing. any ideas?

Did you edit androidmanifest xml correctly? At times if your preview.png is not in the right place then there is no preview but the name should show up from androidmanifest with blank preview.
i didn't think i needed too. i pulled a already build theme. changed out 1 png file. re zipped it and it disappears. if i install off the sd card, adb install, or adb push it produces the same result.

if you are just changing a png, just use 7zip or an equivalent program. But in the op you said decompile and recompile with apk manager, then you better update the Androidmanifest.xml and might need to change values and style xmls as well. but either ways I would use the application installer for this instead of ADB. So if its an existing package with the same name , browse to the apk with say Astro and it will take you to the installer, uninstall first and then install the new one.
I just use 7zip, way easier...

Very likely in the Drawable folders. Or go through the redirections xmls and you should be able to reverse engineer. I think it depends on what your base apk is.
