Has anyone gotten the fresh kitchen working properly on windows 7? When I test for java, it doesn't find it. I have installed the correct path, or so I believe. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
it worked for me the one time I tried it. Haven't messed with it since. you might need to update your java maybe?
I've downloaded java like 10 times... about to delete it completely and try again
I've had the same problem too. I sent the debug to him and he has no idea why its not checking for java. I'm running Win 7 64bit

at least i am not alone.... I've downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit versions...
The strange part about it is I completely programmed and tested it on windows 7, 64 bit. And haven't had any problems with java obviously.
@looneylu
Open a command prompt and type "java -version" and tell me what it replies with.

Ok. Go to c:\program files\fresh kitchen\utilities\adb\
Inside there you should have 1 or more of the following files:
java-debug.txt
java-pass
java-fail
Will you open any that you have and tell me what they say? Java-pass and java-fail have no extension but they can be opened in notepad.
Copy/paste them to me (or pastebin.com it) and let me know which one was which file.
Here;s your Fix,
Go to google and search for CCleaner. Install it. Then follow my instructions:
Click on the registry side tab, and do an "scan for issues".
Once analyzed, you should see a ton of errors. These are old extensions, etc, that are left behind when uninstalling a prog, etc. It's 99.9% safe to clean all of this.
Click "fix selected issues", and save the backup to a location you dont usually go into. I say this so the nackup folder doesnt get in the way of your normal day to day operations.
Once cleaned, do this process at least 3x. You should continue until there are no more errors.
THis fixed mine immediately without a restart.
If I helped, take a minute and visit my site in my sig. Hook a brother up!
This is for w7 home prem 64 bit (my machine)
This program also has the ability to clean the hell out of your machine, not destroying anything in the process. Every month I run it, clean all my caches, etc, and clear up a gig of crap from surfing the web alone. Very good tool for everyone.

Will you turn on the debugger and run the diagnostics and then post the results on pastebin please. It is prompting you for user account control correct? Maybe you are having a UAC problem and might want to try temporarily disabling it just to see if that helps some how.

It should definitely be prompting for UAC approval as soon as you run the kitchen, unless you already have UAC (user account control) turned off. If not then we've found the source of the problem.
You are on Fresh Kitchen 1.0.5.1, correct?

Working well on win7 32bit & 64bit, please see the wiki page on http://code.google.com/p/apkshellext/
Now it requires .net framework 4, there is a download link on wiki page.
Thanks to dds.feng, he reminded me that I have this project pending, and he brings an important patch.
Good luck everyone.

Hi, All
I found it's difficult to find a correct apk file among names when I want to install one to my lovely G1, then I did a windows extension.
you need .NET framework 2.0 or above installed.
download the dll here http://code.google.com/p/apkshellext/downloads/list
Works Only on XP 32bit and possibly on win7 32bit.
Doesn't work on x64 platform for now. It's ok if you want a try
extract all stuff in the zip,
excute reg.bat,
after register successfully, you will got, probably you need a reboot

Doesnt seem to work on win 7
Not working on Windows 7 64-bit.
Thank you for your share and wonderful tool!
I am not sure if it's the same for both XP and Vista (haven't tried 7 yet) but there is an easier way (tried and tested).
Open an Explorer (not Internet Explorer) window. Folder, computer, doesn't matter.
Go to Tools then Folder Options
Click on View tab
Check the Hide extensions for known file types
Then click OK
It's been working for me.

While any power user should have that option disabled, that's not what this post is about. This is about getting Windows to use the icon embedded in the APK. (32-bit Vista, need to reboot to be sure, but not working yet)
Couldn't make it work on Windows XP prefoessional either.
Said it registered but no icons apear.
[EDIT]: It does work! Just needed a reboot. Thanks for this!
ooops...finally another user claim successful....I though it will never success except on my machines...
after register, probably no need to reboot, just kill your explorer and restart it....
looks like vista and 7 is using a different interface for extracting icon for certain kind of file... I will look into it...
I'm going to add some feature like add a context menu to install apk to your Gphone...
any good idea?
for 64bit OS user, here is a workaround... before I release a 64bit version..

A lot of time searching for something like this
I can not get it to work on my xp I've tried rebooting, killing explorer, and extracting to different directories. Do I need to extract it to \system32?
Hi,
I create a x64 version, but since I don't have x64 OS, please have a try and feed back.
download here ->
http://apkshellext.googlecode.com/files/apkshellext.dll
use the old reg.bat to register, probably, you have to kill your explorer first, and run the bat using "run..." command

you don't have to extract it to system32, but you need to run the reg.bat first, and you should see something like "register successful" message. after it, you cannot move the dll file, since the path is recorded in registry.
sometimes the icon doesn't show since icon cache, please try see the properties of your apk file, if everything correct, you should see the icon in the properties window.
if still doesn't work, here is a piece of registry keys extract from my computer, please check if you have the same:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.apk]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.apk\DefaultIcon]
@="%1"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.apk\shellex]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.apk\shellex\IconHandler]
@="{66391a18-f480-413b-9592-a10044de6cf4}"
still problem, reply again, describe what you did and I will try my best to help

Maybe I am wrong but i do not see anywhere saying this is for Droidexplorer.
From the explanation this is for the regular build in explorer for MS so for it not working in droid explorer i would say thats a droid explorer issue since that is not the normal ms one but a custom build application

I never said it was for Droidexplorer. Droidexplorer was my cause for the icons not working. So I uninstall it...now all my apk's have icons.
Didn't work for me either running XP. I looked through properties like others suggested but found nothing that would allow me to change this. Does it have to be changed where it says "open file with..." or is something else changing?

Fellow Developers!
I am getting settled in to the Eclipse IDE, trying to load the Android SDK.
I have everything from Google Downloaded, and the ADT setup.
I am trying to setup the Android Projects to point to the SDK that I have downloaded. I have gone into Window > Prefences > Android > and pointed the SDK to C:\AndroidSDK\
But when I hit OK and Apply I DONT GET ANY FLIPPING SDK VERSIONS!!!
I am sure that it is something simple that I am missing, but can someone maybe provide any help my direction?
BTW I am posting in the Hero forums, because that's the phone I have...Maybe I should of looked for a plain dev forum?

Have you actually downloaded the sdk(s) and not just the tools?
You need to run SDK Setup.exe in your sdk directory and pick which platforms and API's you want to install.
HAHA!!
I ran that setup like 6 times and not once did I pay attention to what the error message said until you said something about installing it!
Yeah I had to force HTTPS. We shall see what happens in the next 2 or 3 minutes and I will reply.

X2 for this.
My favorite way to check my installed Java SDK versions is to check the registry. Since using java -version at the command line only tells you the one you're currently pointing to, it can be a little confusing figuring it out that way.
Just go to regedit --> HKLM --> Software --> Javasoft --> Java Development Kit

The main thing you will find if you get in to deeper dev stuff like the kernel is that any utilities you want require linux or mac os. If you are only planning on making apps then you will be fine in windows.

I agree, the plus side to developing in an IDE is that, save for the deeper diving stuff from a kernel standpoint, that developing in the IDE should make it as seamless as possible between environments. I'd personally do it in Windows until you get to a point where you think you need something from Linux (Linux FTW) and then either just run an Ubuntu box for a bit, or boot into a USB/Extra HDD based persistent Ubuntu installation where you can do the one-off stuff that comes up.
Or you can go to the darkside and abandon Windows altogether. MUAAHAAAHAA.
*GASP* Abandon Windows!?!?!?!?! HOW COULD YOU!...
A little over dramatic??
I like linux just as well, but I am lazy, linux is for someone willing to take an extra step
Or there's always running ubuntu in vmware if you don't want to make the switch.
You can do this VERY EASY! but I'll recommend that you first install Launcher Pro or ADW (you can sync the app using the BlueStacks Android app) then set as your default home. Once you have done that you can open Launcher Pro trough the gadget at any time.
Then open Eclipse go to your "Device Manage" tab and under "Android Remote Device" add a new entry like this:
Name: (whatever you want to name it)
Host: 127.0.0.1
Port: 5555
And you are done! BlueStacks is WAYYYYYYYYYY faster to lunch apps that the regular android emulator. I did a small app for testing/debug and it installed/lunch/debug just fine on BlueStacks.
I cant for the life of me find the device manager could you explain how to get it to appear?

On the Eclipse menu go to:
- "Window", "Show View", "Other..."
- Then type on the entry text box "Device". It should show under the "Sequoyah" folder.
Today I notice that it automatically added "localhost:5555" under "Android Remote Device" next to my manually added entry and the Eclipse DDMS Console was giving me some errors. I restarted BlueStacks and everything seems to be ok now (the automatic added entry is gone now and no more errors too). Lucky that a BlueStacks restart is SUPER fast!

I don't found Device Manager in Android Remote Device in Eclipse, anyone can help me some guides ?
Hi,
how do you install your homemade app for testing/debugging (need official certificate) ? Your bluestacks player seems to be windowed ? how do you make that ? thanks...
Hello!
I'm an artist on an Android project and have very little knowledge on the technical side of things.
Any chance you could expand this how-to a bit more in-depth, as I have trouble even finding "Device Manager" and don't know what Launcher Pro and ADW do and where to find them.
I'd really appreciate it!
It really works! Great! Thanks.
I struggled over this for an hour, because I could not see Device Manager tab in Eclipse. So i downloaded MotoDev Studio (It is SDK + Eclipse + all plugins needed) and now i run bluestack smoothly
More precise way to do this:
1. Download and install BlueStack
2. Download and install MotoDev Studio (Its free)
3. Download Launcher pro or ADW launcher .apk
4. Right click on the .apk, select "open with", "Browse"
go to C:\Program Files (x86)\BlueStacks (for 64bit system)
or
go to C:\Program Files\BlueStacks (for 32bit system)
and select HD-ApkHandler.exe
Launcher should be installed after a moment.
5. Open MotoDev
6. select Device Managment tab
7. Right click on Android Remote Device and click New...
8. Name it like you want, for example "BlueStack"
9. fill Host and Port boxes with
Host: 127.0.0.1
Port: 5555
10. Click OK
Now everything should work. You can close MotoDev and try to open BlueStack and then select Launcher. Now bluestack is fast as native android device and games run smooth Thx to riveraju

Any other method to debug my app through Bluestacks with a Mac?
Do you Any tricks to emulate system apps?
Sent from my Nokia 3210 using xda app-developers app
Hey guys,
so I installed BlueStacks as I already had Eclipse installed and "kinda" followed the guides to this method.
I start Bluestacks player and then I start eclipse and look at the device tab and see this after opening Blood Brothers:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lja2rj4wziycsgq/eclipse.png
Many players say that it should be faster after doing this but I see no difference to playing without Eclipse. Am I missing something, a command or something? Or is that all there is, Eclipse is now connected and running with Bluestacks?

Good stuff, it sped it up just barely to handle the verizon fios mobile tv app. now i can watch live tv on my laptop
is there an alternative to this like regitry hack? I mean I have to download Eclipse or MotoDev which is around 200 mb of size just to put this trick?

Instead of searching for device management tab you can simply enter

Have you managed to install new certificates on Bluestacks ? Seems to me like Security/Credential Storage menu is completely missing as well as other features. I understand that this is just an emulator but we need many other features for development.

Hey guys, I know I'm a noob and I apologize in advance if this question has been answered.
I'm trying to root my G2x with SuperOneClick. I have a Mac and I'm running VMware with Windows 7. I'm following the directions on this page (starting in debug mode, drivers installed):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
and it gets hung up on step 6. I read a little more and turned my debug mode off and on, and then the process completes. It looks like it completes step 7, but then when it is "Remounting /system with read/write access"...it says "/mount: operation not permitted. FAILED"
Also----I have tried the other method with CWM but windows 7 does not give me the option to install the drivers for the APX mode (when I go to the device properties, install driver is disabled)
I really just want to root my phone the easiest way possible. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! (especially if it can get me rooted with SOC). Thanks!

Then don't mess with super one click. Just flash clockwork mod recovery and then flash the root.zip.

Thanks guys...I'm still having some issues though.
As far as running SuperOneClick on my Mac. I installed Mono and figured out how to open it with Terminal. However, when I click Root, it says:
"Automatic version check failed. Is your OS version 2.0 or higher?"

Then when I click Yes, it gives me this result and fails:
I tried to follow all the instructions, but I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to Terminal. I'm not so sure how to do these steps (in particular, installing the libraries to get ADB working and installing WinForms...were these done automatically by running the Mono installer?

That's my issue with SuperOneClick.
With ClockWorkMod, I have a different problem. First, can it be done on a Mac without running Windows? If not, I have tried running it on my Windows 7 VMware build, and it will not allow me to install the drivers. When I boot my phone in APX mode, I right click on the device and get to device properties, it has install driver disabled (greyed-out) and I don't know what to do.
Again, thanks for the advice. I know I'm a noob but I really appreciate your help guys!!!

Don't use a windows vm. use Linux instead. Find the script and you should be fine. find the thread for Mac and it details everything.

Thanks. I found this as the "Mac thread"...is it what I should be looking at?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8699742&postcount=537
I'm having a little trouble with the instructions. Namely, when I'm entering
apt-get install lib32ncurses5
apt-get install lib32stdc++
apt-get install libmono-winforms2.0-cil
Terminal says they can't be found, and I can't find these in the downloaded SOC directory either. I'm thinking this is the problem because it keeps asking me if I'm using version 2.0. Am I doing something wrong?
______
Also, I know you said not to use VM, but I don't have a PC so I'm trying everything I can think of. Here is the result when I'm running SOC on my VM.
To get to this point, it actually stops on Step 5/6 and goes unresponsive. At that point, the only thing I have done to make it move was to toggle USB debugging off and on (I've left it on that step for 20-30 minutes and nothing happens if I don't toggle it).
Then it says failed. I'm hoping by reading the results you might be able to figure out what's going on?
______
One more question---is there anyway to do CWM on the Mac? I have only found instructions for the PC on the forums. Maybe I'm missing it. I have noticed on the CWM instructions it says:
"Install APX Windows driver from APX folder.
(Windows x86 and x64 O/S Drivers):
****If you are running VmWare kill it.****"
I don't understand what it is asking me to kill.
Again, thanks a lot for your time and consideration. I really appreciate it, and if I didn't have a dropbox account I would definitely sign up with your referral. Hope you're having a nice weekend.
Food you check the sticky in the dev section? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099281
Thanks everyone!!!! What ended up working was this:
Flashing CWM with a Linux Virtualbox (after updating the CWM files that were existing already in the Virtualbox).
Then I downloaded the root and put it on my SD card, and rooted via CWM on my G2X. Finally after too many hours for something so "simple" I am finished. Thank you everyone who gave their input!! It was very helpful. I hope that someday I can return the favor!

Apart from many other installers widely available on XDA, they all had two things missing; ability to fetch latest version automatically and be really small in size. Well, I have loads of free time so I started working on this small nifty installer for ADB and Fastboot for Windows. What sets it apart from the all other installers?
** FEATURES **
Installer entirely coded in C++ and uses default Win32 APIs
Compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows later than Windows XP
Really small size (146 kB installer + 1 MB adb / fastboot zip)
Latest version of ADB downloaded automatically from Github Repository and installed system-wide
Seamless install of ADB/Fastboot drivers (Google only for now)
Fully Open Source
** REQUIREMENTS **
Microsoft Windows Vista or later
Active Internet connection
Administrative privileges
** DOWNLOADS **
installer-version-1.2-stable: https://github.com/hackslashX/ADB-F...ster/versions/adb_fastboot_installer-1.2s.exe (146 kB size; adb package will be downloaded separately)
** SOURCE CODE **
For all my Open Source software fans: https://github.com/hackslashX/ADB-Fastboot-Installer-for-Windows/tree/master/source
ADB version update 1.0.39-r3db08f2c6889-android has been successfully pushed to the GitHub repository. Simply rerun the installer to automatically download and install the latest version.
Great, thank you... you saved me

It installs it to C:\Windows\adb.exe.
Did you run the installer as administrator and did the installation completed successfully. You also must be connected to internet during installation.
your installer is recognised as a trojan: https://www.virustotal.com/de/file/...45688791ea9abed7b75386e0/analysis/1505028376/

The installer is fully open source. You can check the source code and rest assured there is no Trojan. Even compile it for yourself
Bitdefendender removes what I assume to be the temporary download of an ADB file. Any way we can fix that?

I'll test it on Bitdefender today to check if it is really the case. The only reason why antivirus detects it as a suspicious file is because it copies all files to Windows directory

Could you stick the files somewhere safe (but unsuspicious) then add that to PATH?

Yep, can be easily done. I'll implement this functionality in the weekends.
Hi there, I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for developing this. All the other quick installers seem to be abandoned, and the newest versions of adb do actually make a difference. For example, it used to be that a pull would skip files with certain characters, and I believe they've ironed that out now. I am going to download this and give it a shot asap.
Thanks again.

Also, could you add in your installer adb/fastboot generic drivers?
Thanks in advance

I've already added support for installation on non Windows directory and updating the Path variable system-wide to allow using adb from any command prompt.
What's left now is to add support for downloading and installing drivers on the go. I already have silent packages for Huawei, Samsung and Google drivers. Will add the support for it too as soon as I get free this Friday after my exams.
New update 0.3-b
- Remove installation of adb directly to Windows directory.
- Installed now in C:\hcX-af directory with system-wide PATH variable automatically updated so that you can run adb from anywhere
- Updated adb and fastboot version
Download Link:https://github.com/hackslashX/ADB-F...ster/versions/adb_fastboot_installer-0.3b.exe
After installation if you're unable to use adb, please logoff or reboot your PC for changes to take affect.
