Background for all Tabs. - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Does anyone have any wallpapers, that won't make the "soft keys" transparent? I find that it looks better when they are not transparent.

God dammit, Jeremy.
You need to add your country and location... that will typically allow other users to assume what STOCK ROM or model of the HD2 you're using.
And yes, do exactly what ^^^^ suggested.

Why not just try "Search"? With keywords like WM6.5, taskbar, themes, wvga... you might get upon interesting ones.

//CALLING A THEMER:// Vanilla Taskbar?

Before you say anything, yes, I DID A SEARCH. What I'm looking for is a white vanilla taskbar with all the vanilla icons. That's it, no rosie or lockscreen or any mods. Just the vanilla taskbar. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

Like the task bar on here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6069283&postcount=1912
What rom do you use? And what lockscreen do you use?
Because some of the icons that the task bar uses is inside the same thing that the lockscreen uses. (im pretty sure) So when changing the taskbar, it will change your lockscreen. All the other stuff is simple, just delete rosie.apk and dialer.apk and so on and rezip the file.
What about this one.. and just delete the rosie.apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5023390&postcount=8
not if you just change the png.

It would have to be a MetaMorph then, as the taskbar elements are spread across the same files that contain the rosie and the vanilla lockscreen elements.
Why not just take an existing one and replace the roise and lockscreen graphics with the ones you want?

It wouldnt look right, the icons are big black boxes that blend with the taskbar. Make it white and you have big black box icons with a white taskbar. And you would have to change the color of the time.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS: I am running DamageControl 2.07.2, and what I want is NOT an HTC taskbar with a white background, I want an actual AOSP taskbar. Just like the pic posted above. EDIT: I'm also using the android 2.0 rotary lockscreen.

How do you hide sense?!?!?!?

I guess you can find the PNG image using CFC GUI, and just remove the content, make it completely transparent.
hey munto...so the image doesnt mean that manila sense is hidden and if you hit the slider icon, it would appear? does this mean sense is completely disabled?

That is what it looks like to me,
I know in Cookies hometab 1.8 and earlier it is under misc settings "Retract Slider"
GT!!! thanks watcherHD....such a knucklehead here...so simple and i failed to realize thats was in CHT...hahha.....thanks a bundle buddy...satisfied...for now...how do you change the way the slider looks now?????hahha
just install the newest CHT 1.8.X and it has a slider incorporated into the sense. this one doesnt have any bugs. ie all the cabs i tried glitched out on landscape to portrait mode showing both slider and slider bar...
or these cab files for just the retractable slider skins.
I know i have 2 different retractable skins. The first one I know is correct... the second cab I'm pretty sure it is as well. I could be wrong though.
thanks people....got them in and its all good now...

Anyone who has a cab that would make the softkeys bar 100% Transparent on Duttys CDLC v15? Poyensa cab didn't work
100% or 0%?
is this to make the keys 100% transparent i.e. not see through, or 0% transparent, i.e. completely see through?

CHT 1.8.5 has this option to re-skin the bars, so it appears transparent. no need to install extra cab files to achieve the same thing.

Agreed. CHT is the future. esp on 1.8.5, so easy to change all the backgrounds and skin the top and bottom bar.

Questions on Icon Customization

Hello all,
So to start yes I've used google and yes I've searched. But I can't seem to bring up the answers I'm looking for.
I'm interested in theming my own icons or at least changing some that others have to to suite my own desires. I've read up on some things for Android icons here. But I was curious as to what other people use/prefer.
As in which to use Fireworks or Photoshop?
Or what the best dimensions are for icons?
And is it best to make them into an APK for easy use?
I couldn't find a how to guide for theming icons specifically but if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Flawless
P.S. Sorry if some of these have really easy answers. Just starting out with changing things on my own.
Which Icons...
Notification icons?
or
App Icons?
or
Other?
I was typing a response and realize you could be talking about three different icons which have different sizes and are in different locations. Notifications are /system/framework and App icons are just shortcuts. Use bettercut from the market, for the latter. As for size 72x72 px for hdpi screens.

Well in the immediate future I was looking to make my own icon theme pack. Then jump into framework, which I know can be a bit more complicated.
So my original questions were in regardes to strictly application icons and a launcher pro dock.
Also I personally use desktop visualizer to customize my icons.
Thanks again for your response

I'm interested in this as well. I really would like to know how to change the stock folder icons from the plain manila to something more appealing. A starting guide would be great.

So after re-reading the webpage that I found and that you linked again, it clarified it a bit. I'm now more just curious as to the programs most people prefer. I know some editors use fireworks but some use photoshop. Which do you personally like (or which may be easier for a semi-noob to start off with)? Or is there another program that you use?
Thanks again,

Here is how I change my homescreen icons if using LauncherPro:
While you could download another app to make custom icons for your homescreens, I figure, why not just use LauncherPro since we already have it installed. Here is a simple tutorial to make a shortcut to have an app open like regular but with a custom icon:
1. Determine the app's package and class names:
-Add a LauncherPro Activities shortcut to your homescreen. Find the app you want and expand it. The options you see are your class names. We will use the HTC Sense World Clock as an example. Usually the default page the app opens to will be the first option, so in this case...
Class name: com.htc.android.worldclock.WorldClockTabControl
The package name is usually derived from the class name, mainly by removing the last part of the name. So, in this case...
Package name: com.htc.android.worldclock
Sometimes you may have to remove the 2nd to last part of the name, if its something like "*.chompsms.activities". You don't need the activities section. Just back out of adding the shortcut now, we have all the info we need. Now we can make our shortcut.
2. Add a new LauncherPro Shortcut to your homescreen and use the built in editor. Simply fill in the Shortcut Label (whatever you want to name it), Package name, and Class name. Leave the Action field as is. Browse your SD card for a custom icon (I suggest surfing to http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/), save your.lps file, and you're done!
This probably won't work for all apps, but should work for most.

I think you misunderstood the question a bit. I was talking about creating or modifing icons in photoshop or fireworks. Not necessarily how to apply them to the phone.
Although I'm sure what you posted will help some people.
Thanks for the response though.

Oh ok, well in that case:
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/tutorials
Most will use Photoshop to make icons. A good size to stay at would be 128x128 IMO. Even though Android uses smaller resolution icons, it's better to downscale than to upscale. I would save as a .PNG to preserve your transparency.

Awesome thanks! This will be a great place to start. Is it the same process to edit the Icons for a normal homescreen shortcut? I would assume so or at least it looks to be.

Yes, it should be. You would use BetterCut or LauncherPro to edit the shortcut icons once you have them made.
