Backing up Bluetooth Pairings - Touch Pro, Fuze General
Have searched and not found an answer. Is it possible to backup and restore Bluetooth Paired devices? I have 3 cars and 2 headsets paired to my Touch Pro normally. Whenever I change ROM's, which is frequent, I have to go through the pairing processes, it is tiresome. Have I missed something or is there a simpler way?
Try backing up this key:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device\#####]
"trusted"=dword:00000001
"class"=dword:00#####
"name"="nambe of device"
I'm not 100% sure that will be all you need, but it works for me for the one device I occasionally connect to. If you have several devices, they should all be under there. For some reason, I think there may be one other key you'll need, but I can't find it right now.
Ok, I knew there was another key you need. In the first, the device has some sort of a code # (where I've got device\#####). You should search your registry for that code. Mine appears here for the device:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\Bluetooth]
"key#######"=hex:blaa, blaa, blaaa
There's a big certificate. You should just dump your registry and search through it for the codes for each device. Also, search on Bluetooth. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth also has some settings you may want, and a few other things may turn up. Of course, the easiest thing is to use SK Tracker to track the pairing process. It will isolate the registry keys you need to save for sure. I don't think it's all that hard to back this stuff up.
Thanks
Thanks Farmer Ted I will give it a try.

Browsing PDA via PC - where's my info stored?
Hi folks, As I have locked out my SPV-M2000 and can't figure out the keys for the keyboard (see here), I need to try and track down some of the SMS/MMS messages stored on the device. I can still browse via my PC, but I don't know where they will be stored or if I can retrieve them. Any ideas?
Well, changes are, if you were to copy everything off your phone, and copy them all over back to them, chances are the stuff will remain. However, I think it ought to be best if you can solve your keyboard problem. For your keyboard, I'm not sure how a BA works, but default a Wizard keyboard starts without Cap, and a CAP will be on until you off it. And Shift and Fn will only function while you are holding it (kinda like the Shift key on your PC keyboard). I'm not sure, probably you've got your number wrong? As I guess, you will need to use the Fn key for typing a number (not sure how your keyboard goes). ANYWAY, I guess you aren't getting much of a respond because you've not got your info out as much as you should. First of all, it may be not as "generally" as you think. And, not all people know what a M2000 is and they don't borther to look for it. Although I hate people with multiple posts, I guess it would be good if you could repost this on the BlueAngel forum and try your luck there, eps the keyboard issue seems very easy to solve.
2 great programs I downloaded for the Sprint Touch Pro2
Hi guys! Was poking around online, and found this page: http://www.phonedog.com/cell-phone-research/blog/part-1-guide-to-windows-mobile.aspx . It lists a few great programs (many of which have been developed by you folx here at xda). There are two phenomenal ones that work quite well on my TP2. The first is the SD card tuneup. I don't know why, but it seems to make my WHOLE PHONE go faster. I love it. The second is the advanced configuration utility. A great way to access tons of settings to better tweak your phone. Hope it helps you guys as much as it does me.
Warning for verizon users Be very careful here and learn from my mistake. I did the reg edit from the linked page for increasing the threaded sms space. I copied the file over to my PC, made the edit, pasted back and reset. When I went into text messages and clicked "all messages" it wouldn't open. I hit reply and it wouldn't open. They only way I could send a text was either from favorites or contacts. I still had the original file so I pasted it back reset but but still f'ed up. I finally had to hard reset to fix it.
Another Warning I would recommend not using the Advanced Configuration program on CDMA phones. Apparently some settings are just different enough to cause weird problems, one of which is being unable to answer an incoming call. (had that happen on my mogul), still see threads warning about using it on CDMA TP2, so be ready to hard reset if you do decide to try it out.
Advanced Config Tool on Sprint TP2 Thank you last poster on the issue with CDMA and Advanced Configuration Utility. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out why I'm having so much trouble answering the phone. Sometimes I can answer, sometimes not. I've also noticed a few other strange behaviors like not getting the pop up "snooze" message I used to get when using the phones built in alarm. Looks like my only way of not only removing the ACU but also fixing these problems is a hard reset? That seriously sucks, but at least I have a potential for getting these functions working again.

Does Raphael (or any ROMs) have a Safe Mode?
Does the HTC Raphael have any kind of Safe Mode that you can boot into which would disable any auto-run programs and allow you to use the device in a "plain vanilla" mode? My specific problem is that I've managed to install a program which apparently sets itself up to auto-run at startup, and which has effectively bricked my phone. The device isn't completely unresponsive. Using keyboard shortcuts I can run certain programs such as Opera or the mail client. Unfortunately, I can't get into the Remove Programs settings applet. I also can't get it to sync with my PC, which would be another way to remove a program. When I plug the USB cable in, I get the "Choose a connection type" dialog, but the PC doesn't recognize that the device is plugged in. So that's a dead end. I've done multiple soft resets, to no good effect. The phone hangs at the same place each time, which is before the Today screen appears BTW. I'm viewing a hard reset as a last resort, since I really don't want to spend the rest of the day reinstalling and reconfiguring applications and system settings. Any ideas would be appreciated. I've been searching the forums and wiki for about an hour, but haven't found anything relevant except for something for a different HTC device. I've spent several hours trying different things that I've thought of with varying results, but the basic problem remains. And finally, while I'm new to this forum, I'm definitely not a noob. I've been a serious PocketPC user back to the days of the Casio E-100, and a mobile device user starting with the original Newton. Thanks in advance. Scott Trotter
i know the older versions of spb mobile shell had a safe mode, i havent use spb since my nike tho so i dont know if its still included obviously as you cant install programs in your current state i suggest u try a hard reset
it was wkTask or ILauncher that had it. Check it out
What did you install? And how does it run at startup? Is it just a link in the windows/startup folder, or a reg entry? If you can launch a file explorer, reg editor, or sk tools, you should be able to disable it.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the culprit is SPB Wireless Monitor. I had a discount coupon for SPB software that expired last night at midnight, so I installed a couple of trial version programs to check them out. Everything worked fine until I tried Wireless Monitor, which apparently bricked the phone. I say "apparently" because its possible that the problem is caused by some type of interaction between Wireless Monitor and something else. In any event, I'm not able to run anything on the phone that will help me diagnose or fix the problem...whatever it is. I'll probably wait until tomorrow to see if anyone comes up with a reset-saving solution, then throw in the towel and do a hard reset. Probably take the opportunity to try a different ROM while I'm at it.
SPB Pocket plus brings a safe mode to every windows mobile device; it deactivates all autostart proggies & has helped me a lot of times. i have one more cab to install safe mode, but i dont know where its from, and i remember that it does not work so good as SPB Pocket plus does ... hope it helps Boris
In my own situation, I ended up having to hard reset and start from scratch. Oh well, such is life. To wrap up, based on the responses above or the lack thereof, it appears that the following is true: 1) There is no "safe mode" capability in the Raphael, neither as a hardware feature, nor as an operating system feature. 2) There are some third-party software alternatives which offer this capability, but you need to have the foresight to have them installed so that they are available in an emergency situation. Thanks for everyone's help.
Very much bolting the stable door etc etc but Get a decent backup client and schedule it to backup every day (week, hour, month - depending on how often you change the data on the phone). If you envisage more than a few hard reboots in a year (changing / testing roms, trying software you might decide you hate, or just a geek etc etc) spend a little time creating a UC setup (there are a few different versions / ways now so i wont prejudice by linking to any one). I know its not a fix, and requires a little preperation, but for a few $$ and a handful of hours, its can save a whole load of grief later on.

I'm surprised that the Safe Mode feature isn't in SPB Mobile Shell. After having it in Pocket Plus, and it being so useful, why take it out?
[Q] Windows Phone Unlock Chevron Unique Problem
I have been able to unlock my phone before, but now no matter what I do, I just can't seem to get past the ChevronWP7.exe error of not being able to communicate with the phone after I click unlock. I think I know why. I had been trying to get my device (Samsung Focus) to be able to be seen as a USB storage device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664) . I had messed with the registry keys until I got the desired effect. Am I missing anything, are there any wrong values? I'm aiming for just being able to unlock at this point. This is driving me insane! Thank you for your help. Edit: I've checked any and all possible reasons for not being able to unlock, from using TCPView to kill https processes, to editing the hosts file from having the loopback to windows developer server. I have no other ideas other that this registry is messed up. If anyone (so long as they havent messed with the USB storage thing) could just export that whole registry folder: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_045E&PID_04EC&MI_00] and just post it, that would be more than enough. Thank you again.
Solution It did end up being my registry settings. Went to another computer, installed the Developer Tools, ran ChevronWP7, and voila. Still dont know my problem though, and with the new NoDo update I know I'll have to reset again eventually, so if anyone can shed any light that would be great.
I'd say, uninstall the samsung drivers, remove what's left of these registry keys, install the drivers again and connect your device to recreate the registry keys.
I've already uninstalled the Samsung drivers, and I'll try deleting those registry keys. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the Windows Phone Deeloper Tools, didn't do very much. Can access just fine through Zune, but any xap deployer (including Microsoft's) and the ChevronWP7 can't.
I deleted the registry key (or rather what I could, some of them were system protected and wouldn't budge when I edited permissions), then uninstalled zune and reinstalled it. I plugged my phone in and everything synced just fine. Tried Chevron, it started and detected my phone was jailbroken. I was also able to deploy xaps. Thanks for the suggestion, saved me from a lot of frustration.

I have the same problem as above; Unlocked my Focus, it got re-locked somehow and now I can't re-unlock it, after trying everything. Should I do what OP ended up doing? If so, how do I do that?
I've had a somewhat related issue where something in my PC's registry or user profile was screwing Zune up. I'd get a generic "Please disconnect, restart your phone, and pray" response that never worked. The fix? Recreate my user profile in Windows which has a net effect of giving you all new HKEY_CURRENT_USER stuff. This may be necessary for others in the future, specifically when one computer works differently than another.

Click to expand... Click to collapse I had the EXACT same problem with my Focus after unlocking it. I also had been playing with the Diagnosis app, so i figured it was that. I've never touched the registry of my phone...
Deleting Hardware files leads sometimes to brick the phone
Hey there, I started recently to look up for a way to permanently disable my wifi, bluetooth, NFS, Network and GPS. Unfortunately I didnt find a proper method to do that. There was the option to physically break the hardwares, but I didnt want to risk that, if I get something wrong there I wouldnt have a 2nd chance. Except of that, there was only some ways to disable the wifi but it was easy to re-enable it again. Anyways I figured out, that I need to root my device in order to remove hardware files, but the problem is I dont know WHICH files would be okay to remove. I'm using a samsung galaxy s8 with Android 9 Pie Till now I rooted my device twice and deleted hardware files, the first time I deleted wifi hardware files from the system/etc/permissions folder. That lead to brick my phone. The second time I deleted hardware files of bluetooth and nfc from: system/lib system/lib64 system/vendor/etc/init system/vendor/etc system/vendor/lib64 system/vendor/permessions surprisingly it worked, I totally disabled bluetooth and nfc. Then I wanted to proceed to remove gps (I figured out S8 aint using gps but gnss) so I removed the gnss files and folders. But this time, it bricked my phone, so I had to reinstall the samsung firmware again and now I rooted my device again. Before I start trying again, I would like to ask you, if any of you have some knowledge about this and if there is any no-go files, which I should never remove or smth. I dont really just want to try out over and over, it is taking much time to do all this... I hope somebody can help me out. Additionally, do any of you know how the network hardware is called? basically the hardware which lets you call people or just the hardware which connects to a network provider. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The reason why I want to do this shouldnt be important right? but if you want to know why: I want to keep my privacy. I want to be able to connect to the internet only via ethernet cable and also I want to use my device more as a map to plan routes, camera, calc etc. ALOT of other people want to do this too, but nobody (after searching for over 20 hours) had the right solution. Every way I found, it was possible to reenable it easily. Thank you for taking your time and reading my issue! I hope you can help!! I will give an update about this anyways!
I'm using a samsung galaxy s8 with Android 9 Pie Model: SM-G950F Update: ---------------------------------------------- I found a way to disable the following hardware: (disclaimer: there is probably tons of methods to permanently disable hardware, but this is how it worked for me) Ofc you need to root you device, I used TWRP as boot loader. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE you could loose your data forever!! and dont do the same mistake I did, not backing up the contacts. Contacts are NOT in the internal storage, therefore you need to do a back up while rooted!!! Tip: every file you edit or delete, make a backup of the original one and name it differently. If your android bricked, then you can use TWRP and delete the modified file and rename the backup again to the original name. This would help you to prevent wasting much time. Bluetooth: Delete the following file: /system/vendor/lib64/hw/[email protected] WiFi: Delete the following file: /system/vendor/lib64/[email protected] GPS: Delete the following file: /system/vendor/etc/gnss/gps.xml Some files I just edited them, these are permissions file, if you delete them completely, android wont work anymore. You need to delete everything between <permissions></permissions> You can edit the files using text editor GPS: Edit the following file: /system/vendor/etc/permissions/android.hardware.location.gps.xml NFC: Edit the following file: /system/vendor/etc/permissions/android.hardware.nfc.xml Telephony: I tried to dial emergency numbers, which should be actually possible with or without a sim card, but it didnt work. Edit the following file: /system/vendor/etc/permissions/android.hardware.telephony.gsm.xml And that's it, now just restart your android and it should work with no problems. I would recommend to download everything you want to have on your phone, before you get rid of wifi. WARNING: Most google applications like google map wont work, after you get rid of the gnss/gps. Google doesnt like it, if you turn off your location lol The network data (LTE, 4G ...etc) is not tested and I am not sure if it is even disabled, I have the feeling that Telephony is not the same. I dont use a sim card anyways, so yeah. But if I found out a solution for that too, I will post it here for sure! have fun!!
