looked around a lot and saw that it was not possible because of the driver issues, but i currently installed fe widgets, and noticed that the flip clock works perfectly fine on there. just wanted to know if at all possible to get the sotware from that and incorporate it into manilla 2d. they also had animated weather which worked fine.
You can't put flash in M2D as it's not built for it.
You can use Throttle Launcher 0.9.5+ to have both the visualization (and many more options) of M2D and have a lot of the TouchFLO3D components.
Also, dig a lil to find out about the ported TouchFLO by Chainfire. I don't know which device you're using but you might be able to use it, as it is developing now.
thanks for the quick response. im have a sprint vogue. stock sprint rom, and i have been following chainfire's development, but i dont believe it's working on the vogue yet. well last time i checked it wasn't.
Don't try TF3D.
Either use TF2D or try FEWidgets if the flipping clock matters to you.
You can also use Ultimate Launch to have a shell that has a few tabs and put FEWidgets as one of the tabs.
If you are not a very advanced user i would agree with nir36, Touch flo3d is still in development and is very unstable (obviosly not unstable for devices it was meant for, i am refering to porting prodjects) Its not completely ready for every day use but it is slowly getting there. If you would like to try it anyways you can grab it from here, but expect to do a har reset to fully uninstall it.
ps here is link for a qvga standby fix
thanks once again. i am fairly new. only on my 2nd windows mobile device, but the website is really helping me learn. i'll wait until 3d is more stable but in the mean time i will try ur suggenstions. thanks once again.
Hi All,
I am looking for a Home Screen Plugin for my Flint.
I have seen many nice looking ROMs but I do not want to flash the ROM until the device is out of warranty!
I am just looking for a nice home/today screen!
I am also looking for a nice little app like the old battery status!
I had this on my old XDA Orbit, which displayed Battery charge and signal strength in %, and memory card info, as well as CPU temp and also had an overclock facility too! I had my standard Orbit (201Mhz) overclocked and running very nicely and stable at 299Mhz!
Also if there is anything else anyone recommends throwing into the mix then please do so!
Many thanks
Alex

i have shell 3.i will try an send it to you if it loads on email
I use iFonz2 which is an iphonelike shell and I love it. Luckily you can configure it to be quite unlike iphone in appearance, because I don't want to look like an iphone wannabe. I just want the wonderful functionality. I'ts free and you can find it here:

I can second SPB Mobile shell 3, I use it on my Flint and it looks great - and is very customisable. Check out the forum on SPB for some useful aditions such as widgets for VGA screens.

I did try try SPB Mobile Shell 3 - I wasn't that impressed! It didn't run very well!
It was slow and jerky, not smooth! - Is that how it is or do I need to tweak some setting somewhere to make it run better?
I installed it and it worked fine. No setting changes, no jerking, no delays. I did add the VGA widgets and a few other mods from the SPB forum, but it didn't alter the performance. Perhaps it's the ROM you're using, or other apps you have installed? Although I have do also Wisbar adv3 running and eveything is still OK. My partner has SPB MS3 on her XDA stella and it runs even smoother and quicker than it does on my Flint, but I wouldn't describe mine as slow or jerky. Hope this ramble helps
I've just re-installed it, but its still slow and jerky when rotating between screens!
Anyone have any ideas??

Screen rotation with Spb MS3 is a known issue. Are you using the latest version- Spb did some work to improve it, but its still slow.
How do you find the screen transitions if you stay in the same orientation? For me they were fast and smooth, though I've stopped using any shell programs now due to their memory usage.

I believe it was the latest version!
If I'm honest I really didn't like it!
I just migrated from a Tytn2 running Athine OS Manilla Edition (TF2D)
I was really impressed with it! It was quick, smooth and easy to use!
Thats what I am really looking for on my XDA Flint, but I don't want to move away from the standard ROM until the device is out of warranty!
I'd normally say go for broke with a new ROM as there are tools around to restore the SPL and OS to the release version, but as the O2 ROM is pretty similar to cooked ROMs in terms of performance I'd agree with you.
What to you actually want from a Home Screen?
I've now reverted to the standard WinMo home screen with whichever standard plug-ins I want, plus SBP Weather and Chronos alarm. On top of that I'm now using LaunchPad from Panoramic Software which can take over the Start button, or a softkey, and which opens up a full screen icon grid of 'links' to programs, settings or files.
I've reviewed it Here; not a Home screen, but does the job for me

Have you considered TF2D on your Flint, not 100% perfect has a few niggles but fairly responsive on my X7510. see here for more info:

Okay guys & gals,
Just thought I'd start a topic about our Today Screen.
I love a good launcher program (which I believe is simply what a today screen is). It took me a while to get to like WM6.5, but I do now. The disadvantage is that I still have to press my Start Menu for other apps... and for 64MB Uni's the disadvantage is only too obvious.
I hope you don't mind me quoting, but this is what started me thinking...

Yeah, oh for a simple Today Screen. I'm with you there.
Why do we have one method of accessing our apps on the Today screen, and yet another from the Start menu. (And for me a third when I want to choose a game to play).
I suppose nobody has come up with something that everyone agrees on!
Hence we have such platforms as Android, maybe.
As phezthie says, HomeScreen PlusPlus is a cool app. However, if you can't find a theme that someone has made that you like, you must be willing to write a script. Personally I love this app, but spend too much time tweaking my scripts! Ouch
Another one is ThrottleLauncher. A lovely graphic approach, but a bit heavy/slow and a few bugs. Very easy to set up, though... but perhaps more of an interest with 128MB devices and maybe a little restricted.
Anyone got a great Today Screen or Launcher they think others would like?
.
Hi Jonny
Interesting thread indeed
I used for a long time HTC Home large VGA by pj07 and I was very satified as I had all I needed on that home screen.
Now I´m using titanium but I´m agree with your comments above.
(attached)
Cheers,
I use Titanium too and its going pretty well for my needs till now. This his a good idea.
Hello thank you for starting this thread,as i am obsessed lately with this subject. I tried EVERYTHING that i could find, and so far,on my 64 MB uni,i can say only that i managed to find NOTHING in my taste.
Throttle launcher is awesome but no way it can work on my device, buggy and extremely slow, same as Pointui Home 2, with the POINTSENSE suite 2.0.0.6 looks awesome but useless on my device. For everyone with a 128 MB device i would recommend it,there are many many interesting skins/themes and applets on the Pointui website http://www.pointui.com/
Also,i am waiting for a new or fixed version of Touch Shell Pro ,which looks promising also, has some nice skins too, version now is 1.1.0.17,but has too many issues still,on my UNI at least.
http://www.touch-shell.com/
Also i tried FEWidgets Ultimate, again nice idea but too slow on my UNI.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544874
There is now also this Sense UI Theme for FEWidgets Ultimate.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-sense-ui-theme-for-fewidgets-ultimate.html
As for launchers,i tried plenty, most of them too slow ofc,the nicer ones
Easy Today Launcher is a nice today plugin, you can combine it with some others to make a nice today screen also :
http://www.loffactory.webs.com/
MyAction is a nice launcher you can pick up here versions 1.1 and new 2.0 :
http://www.8080.pl/
This one looks real nice but was way too slow on my 64 mb - Touchlaunch :
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-touchlaunch.html
And for last, the best thing i found to be part of my today screen,is a skin for marsware weather panel 2009 - here is the whole thing :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401781
When i get time i will put some more up,when i remember them,i really tried a lot of things out. And i really really wish that my UNI has 128 MB
I never looked back since getting SPB Mobile Shell 3.5, I think it's the best. In fact, once I got it, the ROM UI became irrelevant, I even have WM5 on one of my Unis in order to have the VC and not suffer much.
Complexity
Jonny
Thanks for starting this thread. I have also played with a number of the Today screen graphical setup programs, some are quite good. However, since upgrading to 6.5 I quite like the standard program screen that comes up when you select start.
My question is why do we need any of these today screen programs, when the icons and screen are already there. We really don't want to add any more complexity to the setup or anything else to use up precious memory.
I originally asked the question to see if there was just a way of bypassing the today screen altogether, so that the standard program screen came up by default.
Now thanks to you we have the collective minds thinking about it.
@gewin:
I actually got your idea. But couldn't find the function OS calls (@shell32.exe) when you hit on start menu.
Once we get then it is just the easy part....
I use SPB Pocket Plus, because it can handle other today plugins in different tabs. And it runs quickly on UNI64...
Thanks guys, this has been very informative. Especially to PalDragon for all the review... I'm going to give some of those a try. Cheers. What do others think?
MyAction - I found I didn't like. It looks ok if you use all the icons, otherwise you have half a screen full of blue +'s. I would prefer slide to screen, rather than use of a Prev/Next button. You also need to add all the apps yourself, it wasn't self-populating.
TouchLaunch - like. However only 1 item per line means a lot of scrolling, and the scrolling can be quite slow. Nice that you can make categories. Latest version here. Smooth (on my 128MB Uni)
EasyToday Launcher - @gewin, this is what you want! It's not self-populating, but I do like it. And as PalDragon pointed out, you can add other Today items with it, if you wish.

i completely agree, its not free though but worth it...
Hi Jonny.. can you please attache some pics of your today screen if you haven't yet, I use HTC Home its got all i need even wheather, Messaging etc... But i wonder if its possible to add some applications to the wm6.5 on that cool up down slide. This made me stop using HTC Home but now i have some app's missing on my today.
my today screen is unintersting. I use WM6.5 'Ron Arad Orange' with CHome editor* for my apps (piccy1). I used to have weather plugin* but this seemed to make my GPS navigation freeze intermittently. I use QuickMenu* for my task switcher (piccy2) and iReflect icons* in my start menu (piccy3) with honeycomb start menu*. (Also, once used ATContacts widget*).
However I am still looking for a good 'app launcher' for games. I use fexploreext* set to 'Icon View' (see piccy4&5). Sadly fexploreext doesn't seem to work in WM6.5.1
I did once create a HomeScreen++ theme* for back when it was BatteryStatus, but haven't kept it up to date. It also had weather. The funny thing about weather widgets is that whenever I want to look at the forecast, I always want to update it ... so it seemed reasonable to stick with weather from an internet page! (perhaps because in UK weather is so changeable, I don't know!)
however, I am beginning to like SPB Mobile Shell (unsure how long the trial is for). What themes are people using? enigma1nz? phezthie?
FEWidgets and throttlelauncher seem similar, but a poor mans copy?
*if you want any of these files, just PM me.
spb mobile shell is really impressive and powerful (the latest is v3.5), ive been using ms v2 since tomal's 8.5. however, based from my experience, v3.5 is not advisable using tomal's wm6.5 roms (v9 & 10) due to slow response and occasional freeze. same with other wm6.5 cooked roms i tried, the reason why ram upgrade is imperative, at least for me, to enjoy the latest rom with latest spb.
off course, another solution i think is if our great uni rom chefs will always consider releasing vanilla of their great work...
UltimateLaunch
http://www.ultimatelaunch.de/index_en.html
Setup is a bit of a hassle (I've been messing around in Android, so a lot of Windows Mobile/Phone stuff seems more complex to customize), but if you're willing to put in the time, it's a rock solid-app and can customize to a T. It's also the least memory-hungry of what I've tried.
The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't accommodate rotation very well unless you count out pixels and just set it up so that in landscape it looks good even though the bottom of your screen is cut off.
I've tried Lakeridge (think Titanic, flashy, but *will* crash), ThrottleLauncher, Win6.5, SPB, SBSH. I keep coming back to this.
I used most of the GI app there and i liked WAD2. and i used with my custom theme when i was in wm 6.1, now with 6.5 due to memory issue i can not run it. so i'm using titanium with some customization.... see pic's below...

Hey Guys - I've poured over these threads and am a bit confused about the versions of HTC touchflo. What are my options, if any, that allow running WM6.5 and getting the flip-clock with weather beneath it? Is this possible? Or is this only touchflo 3d, which hasn't been cooked into a wizard rom?
Or maybe I should be able to change the look of the clock for this touchflo but I haven't been able to find it?
Thanks for any info.

I think what you mean is the HTC home plugin, right? I would say that you could use any 6.5 ROM and install the HTC home plugin to get the features you want (by the way, I just found this in a German ROM somewhere here, check out the "SKYNET ROM v6", post #7- Seems it's working there and should of course work for any English version, too). Good luck
Andreas
I think it's called "HTC Sense" ?
Thanks for replying Andreas. I did some more searching and I think the name associated with the look I want is "sense" ... i don't see a wizard ROM for that yet. But maybe i'm missing something? I've attached a pic.

hm... well, I don't know this one. But guess what- I'd be interested in this too Sorry I couldn't help. Personally, I don't like the 6.5 default look either and I keep always changing to even the 'old' 6.1 home screen, simply because I have all the information I need on one screen. I prefer this over a fancy look. But the thing you are looking for seems to do the job, too. Let's hope someone can jump in and solve the issue
Good luck,
Andreas
Once i ask cracing why dont use this on a rom.
1- this new touchflo is to big
2- our processor is to slow to process the flip clock, you can imagine...there is a lot of deferents images all the time change.
3- there is still bugs on ported version (maybe now this is not more valid)
Just one more thing, the picture is the 3d version, this one is IMPOSSIBLE to get in a non 3d acceleration device, but there something like that in 2d.
I've run this (the 2D version anyway) on a Wizard, by installing cabs onto a fairly naked 6.5 rom. It's slow, and takes too much memory and storage. It sure is pretty, though.
I think I used an "MSD-Series" rom as the base. I can't remember for sure.
I often try 6.5 but my favorite roms are 6.1. Even there, Manila2D is a hog.
RoryB's latest ExtROM-based Angel rom and TechTeamup's NSN rom are pretty evenly matched as my favorites right now. Both come with M2D. NSN loses points for using an older version, but Angel loses points for requiring tweaks to get the album view and music tabs to work properly.

I also need the same. Anybody there can suggest something
Its New HTC Manila from HTC Mega having Flip-Clock and Weather on home screen. It can be found here.
As it has many images ( for making animation like flip clock ), it makes the device slower. So its only good for newer qvga devices having 400+ mhz CPU speed and 128+ MB RAM or users how use there device rearly.
Best Regards
You can see pictures of a Wizard running Manila2D v2 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4016314#post4016314
It realy looks great but as Cracing and n2rjt and boto said: It needs to much RAM and CPU power! And is has no real landscape mode wich is a problem if you use it on a phone with a slide-out-keyboard like the Wizard. I did not only installed the CABs but cooked it into my ROM. I flashed it, tested it and 2 days later I already flashed an other ROM again because it is not usefull at all.
CHT 1.8.5 was just great, but what are your thoughts and experiences about CHT 2.0?
one word: A-WE-SO-ME!
Haven't really used it much since 1.8.5 does everything I need. I can see it being very useful for most, but I prefer 1.8.5. Now that the final is released I may give it another shot, beta was VERY buggy for me. But I'm not sure I can handle the look of it, either. Not trying to bash it, just saying over all I prefer 1.8.5.
its up there mate. the team should be employed by htc earning big bucks for being able to create this....
Hi all.
For me is just the best and most useful software I have for my HD2.
In fact, since I discovered CHT, CHTE and CHTS I don't use any more Spb Phone Suite, Spb Mobile Shell, Spb Pocket Plus and SBSH Phone Weaver.
Splendid app, well done, robust and free to use, (please, if you use it, pay CHT Team a beer, they deserve)!
I think 2.0 is fantastic, the star of the show though for me is CHTS.
Soooooo much time and hassle saved by being able to restore my sense layouts in a matter of seconds
all CHTs and CHT 2.0 are FABULOUS!!
But I think the phone button in the home screen should be changed into something more usefull like "all people" for instance..?

you can change it via cht editor....
To me it's like a whole new software .
Better than Spb better than Sense itself .
Still trying to work it all out to be honest .
It's keeping the HD2 alive in my humble opinion .
Now if only WP7 looked like this ........
problem
i really like cookie home tabs. i have been watching and installing since the first versions. however one time i discovered that to uninstall cht is impossible. i tried so many versions of cht, but on every single of this vers. i had to hard reset to uninstall cht. And nowadays i had a hope that; with 2.0 this problem had solved, unfortunately i see still i cant uninstall it, please help me about situation without advising to hard reset
continue
i am using 1.48 hspl and dutty v7 com2 rom
CHT is almost Sense how it should have been originally! Its brilliant!
CHT2.0 is the 1st time I've "mod'd" the htc hd2. I am impressed but have some questions which havent been answered by the manual or the cht2.0 thread.
1. The clock only appears on the 2nd page across, making me think on the initial install that there was a problem since it shows the 1st page on initial startup. How can I get the clock to display on all pages.
2. When you scroll down (yes down not up) from the clock you get a mini clock and alot of blank space, can quick links be added to this page, cant see an option to.
3. What other cool things can CHT2.0 do that I havent discovered yet?
Would also be nice if CHT fixed the alarm limitation of wm6.5 but I guess I need to find an app for that.

It's the only reason I consider using WM 6.5. I've been trying Android for the last few months and love it, but battery is my issue. Co0kie is the ONLY thing that tempts me back to the Windows fold - it's just amazing.
If Microsoft had pulled their finger out and got the HTC Sense + Co0kies team in five years ago, they could have owned the Smartphone market - along with an app-store, of course.
co0kie, you are THE interface for WM6.5, no doubt. Long may you live, you genius.
masterpice
i know that CHT 2.0 is awesome and has lots of features added to 1.8.5. But for me, CHT 1.8.5 is just perfect in terms of usage and efficiency. For this reason, I really don't mind sticking to it instead of using 2.0. I' m not really so much for widgets, quicklinks are just fine.
Its the most awesome thing ever happen to HD2. At first I was convinced that HD2 is upgradeable to WP7 but later was screwed over. CHT is the saving grace for HD2. In my opinion, CHT Final Release 2.0.0 still have some bugs here and there but its all good if you know how to work around it. Plus you're not gonna fiddle around it all the time after you've got what you've wanted. On the other hand, CHT 1.8.5 is a very very stable version although it lacks some cool features ie. Free Links, Wobble effect and many more. But still, I think its the most versatile mod out there for HD2 compared to SPB, MaxSense and others. Currently on Dutty's v7 COM2 WWE ROM, CHT 2.0.0, CHTE 2.0.0 and finally worth mentioning MrBEOTP2's v3 mod for CHT and have no complains or what-so-ever.

well, this wasn't love at the first sight.. I didn't like 2.0 after 1.8.5 very much and went back to 1.8.5. later, when I get bored without new impressions, I decided to try 2.0 again... and fell in love and now with CHTS I can't imagine my HD2 without these really cool applications that can do almost everything and more
