sorry for this n00b question... I have searched all the forum and understand that I can have a HQ (i.e. not blurred) wallpaper on all manila tabs by preparing a cab with HDWall.
I have a lot of 800x480 wallpapers and would like to implement a system to automatically change the wallpaper every day (through mortscript or software like antworks auto wallpaper change); however, from what I understand, simply replacing the wallpaper would make it blurred... the question is, is there a way to have HQ Wallpapers in manila without HDWall or other methods which require a pc and a cab preparation? Preparing in advance a cab for all my wallpapers looks not too feasible to me.. (unless HDWall has some sort of "auto" feature")
Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions
I want to know this too
It'll be great if HQ-wall can automatically change
Sadly, it's how Sense was built. No way around it, otherwise they wouldn't have created HDWall.

Had a little extra time on my hands and decided to make a couple of clocks for manila 2.5. First of all thanx to the creator of CFC GUI .60.35 - THE Manila/TF3D Image Editor and NRGZ28 for his carbon clock. I went ahead and made two variations of the carbon clock, a black carbon and blue carbon.
Here they are....
11/23/09 - Graffiti Clock
Really nice, but for what manila version are those clocks?
Since you see the shortcuts on the home page I guess it's the 2.5 brand.
That's looking real good!
I see that's winmo 6.5.1 that you are running, but what about the rest of the UI? that's a theme? It seems that the fonts and shortcuts down there are different.
What did you use to that effect?
Thanks!
Thanks! iam using the jw black theme for windows. the task bar i found while searching through the forums. And the shortcuts are from the manila 2.5. I just went ahead and edited the slider, icons, and clock. Still got some work to do before I completely customized my device!
[edit] nevermind! a search on jw black theme gave me a good result but! the wallpaper is real nice, any chance you could give more info on it? Thanks!
Looks real good, especially the 3rd one.
I am using the clock, but would like to get all the rest (at least the wallpaper and font).
Any chance you can be more specific about files names or maybe you could share what you created? That would be really great
THANKs .
not a problem, iam using the kabel system font, found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532633
and ive attached the wallpaper iam using.
as for the slider ill post that one as soon as iam done editing it. iam compiling icons that coincide with windows mobile (i.e. opera for the internet tab, zune for the music player, outlook express for email tab and so forth) it should be done soon, just editing the taskbar and softkey skins to match the slider.
Thank you for all the info
And for your hard work!
Cheers
any chance in making the "AM~PM" on the clock white also?
yeah new clock for my sense 2.5
Thanks a lot have been looking for a new clock for my sense 2.5 long time and yeah yours works.
Nice look these clocks!
here are the manila files for a white am and pm on the clock. just unzip and copy to windows directory.
any tutorial
Hi bruc410,
could you provide me a short tutorial how to make a clock skin for Manila 2.5?
or is there any tutorial in this forum?
Thanks!
You need photoshop, a manila editor (preferably cfc-gui-only-0.60.35), and finally the original manila 2.5 file, found here http://code.google.com/p/manilavga/...ManilaOriginalWVGA-2_5_19211619_0.7z&can=2&q=. All you have to do is unzip the manila files and then open up manila editor and select the core folder from your manila 2.5 file. From there just save the original clock files to your computer as a png then edit them to your liking and replace them with the manila editor. Finally copy the edited manila files to your windows directory. Thats about it. Sorry if my directions are a little thrown together but i pretty much figured this out on my own. The good thing is once you get the hang of it you can customize the entire manila 2.5. Hope this answers your question.

There may be additional differences, but from what I have noted, BG4All gets installed on your phone, whereas HDWall is used on your desktop to create new background image cabs.
BG4all enables setting any images as your wallpaper across all tabs, but they are low-res wallpapers. HDWall requires creating a new cab for each potential background image, but they are high-res.
Both require a variety of patches and fixes to work with other modifications to Sense, like Co0kies Home Tab.
I prefer HDWall; it gives you more flexibility and control over your UI, and it also includes a program you can run on your phone to select from all the Background Image cabs that are stored in a given directory, so with a little effort on the front-end you can still easily switch between a number of background images.
I already use HDWall. I installed a hdwall-patch on my phone and the HDWall-App to change my wallpapers.
But the background is only for my sense - the startmenu or lockscreen still has another wallpaper.
With bg4all this windows will have the same wallpaper, too? But not in hires (800x480)?
I think i will stay at HDWall.

I don't think bg4all will change your Windows wallpaper either. Use the built-in "Pictures and Videos" app to set your Windows wallpaper. You can also set it from the Today settings screen, but you don't have a GUI for browsing the images - so I prefer to use Pictures and Videos.
Please, where can i find BG4all?
Thanks,

Search for "Download BG4All".
It's the second link. And no, I'm not going to do it for you.

Rgds,
Im looking to make animated wallpaper for the HD2 but trying to figure out were do I start. I know there has been a few people here making them but the stuff I've seen isn't what im looking to do.
I'm looking for something in the Nexus One range, but without it being LIVE, just animated. While browsing the HD2 animated walls, there is only 3 and they are .png. Animated .pngs. When I load a .png as a animated wallpaper, it doesnt animate, just stays on the first frame. So my question is, what else is the HD2 doing to make the walls animate?
I started having a look at this too..
The pngs aren't animated. They act as the background for the animation wallpaper... the actual animations are run by a scripted manila file (don't ask me which one, I did find a thread with the details of this script but you'll have to search for it) and a bunch of manila files for the pngs.
The scripted file tells the manila pngs how to "animate" i.e which directions they go, sizes, speed etc. You can edit the script to change the "animations" and also change the manila pngs for pngs of your choice.
You'll need to get the scripted file and the relevant manila files from your windows folder on your device. If you do a search for animated wallpapers on the forum there's a few threads telling you which files are needed and how to edit them. CFC editor/M9 Editor etc
hope that helps and best of luck
edit: have a look at this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6335350#post6335350 or do a search for animated wallpapers in the forum
I am decorating my HD2 with gothic style wallpaper. I applied the same wallpaper onto the lock screen and home screen, the one on lock screen display perfectly with high resolution and detail, very sharp and bright. However the same wallpaper displayed on home screen is very poor in quality, blur, flat and not in the correct scale.
Is there any specific size i need to crop the wallpaper to inorder to have it display correctly on the home screen? Thanks

480 x 800
Search for HDWall, also apply HQ Wallpaper Patch for your Manila version.

Sorry, i am not sure about what jive means but when you create a wallpaper with HDWall (it is a cab) is for all backgrounds / tabs of Sense.

Jive = work.
is that means simply cropping or creating a 800 x 480 px picture on photoshop will not display correctly when I set it as Home screen wallpaper on HD2? I change the wallpaper by going:
Menu > Home Wallpaper > Weather Wallpaper > (my wallpaper file)
Does it make a different if I had Cookies Home tab and editor installed? I am running a stock rom. Or it is a must to create the wallpaper with the HDWallS and install the HQ Wallpaper Patch for your Manila inorder to have it display correctly?
Thanks~
It doesn't matter the software you use to create a wallpaper, it just has to be 400x800 to fit the whole screen. After that you create a cab by using HDWall and it will make every tab with the same background, HDWall also makes the wallpaper from the top to the bottom (no curtains), remember, install HQWallpaperPatch (the right one for your manila version) to get high quality background in you screen.
Of course, when you have a .jpg or .png file you just copy it to My Documents/My Wallpapers (i don't know if that is the right name in English) and then from your Today screen you can go to Configuration -> Personalize -> LockScreen background and change to whatever you want.

Doesn't matter, when creating a cab with HDWall you don't need BG4All anymore, no need to uninstall.
Rgds,
thanks! I now have installed the patch and created the cab with HDWall. Home screen displayed the wallpaper perfectly now, though seems to be a bit complicate method to have it displayed correctly. Think I need to spend some time getting know HDWall to use it properly.
Is that means I will have to create the cab on a computer each time when I want to change the wallpaper and no alternative method to change it directly like other phones ususally do? Do I have to unstall the current cab before installing the new one?
thanks for your clear explaination. cheers!

No, you do not have to uninstall first, when installing another one your device will uninstall the previous one at first so no worries.
You can also try Bwizard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681341
Another possibilty is changing background wallpaper directly by going to Configuration -> Personalize -> Today Home Screen Background but this way it will only change your Today screen, when you want the same wallpaper in every tab you will have to install BG4All (search for it) and probably a couple of small applications to remove top and bottom curtains.
It's up to you, hope it all will help you.
Rgds,
Hi!
I'm using CHT 2.0 an I'm now looking for the wallpaper of the programs page (pressing windows button) in Artemis-ROM V50. I would like to use the blue gradient wallpaper on all sides of the HTC Sense UI. Unfortunately I think these graphics are not part of the ArtemisGreenBlack theme because they are not in the cab file.
Can someone tell me where I can find the graphics for wallpaper, taskbar and softkeybar as see on the program page in the named theme?
With many thanks.
NM
if it can help .. there should be a CHT option to set the same background in all tabs (otherwise you could use "back ground for all" cab attached), and serarch in these sites a wallpaper of your taste
stock bacgrounds are stored in \my documents\wallpapers (if I rember the WWE folder name..)

Hola, since your using CHT and Artemis, there shouldn´t be any problem...
Besides what jjollyroger already wrote, maybe I don´t understand your question, but if you are refering to the "turqoise" WP, it´s in the ROM, Windows directory and it´s one of the called "stwater" image files (Default_stwater_480_800.gif & Default_stwater_800_480.gif)
Regarding taskbar and softkeybar, this will depend on the theme you´re using.
If you are using Artemis Greeen Black, then the files are the following:
Taskbar: "art_gb_Taskbar.png", "HTCBlack_taskbar.png"
Softkey: "art_gb_SKBackground.png", "art_gb_SKButton.png", "art_gb_SKButtonDisabled.png", "art_gb_SKButtonSelected.png" and also one "xyz_softkeybar.png" depending on the last theme used (probably "classicblue_softkeybar.png").
For both you can also check in the registry to see which files are beeing used:
1. HKCU\software\Microsoft\Today\TaskBar\TaskBarThemeImage
2. HKCU\software\Microsoft\Today\Softkeybar\SoftkeyBarThemeImage
