I've just moved to O2 and gone for the Xperia X1, and discovered O2 seem to have "unusual" support for SMS delivery receipts.
I managed to modify the registry to re-enable the SMS menus so as to allow delivery receipts, but this doesn't seem to work, and a quick google suggests that the only way is to pre-pend each SMS with *0#.
Does anyone know any different to this, and has anyone ever written an app to invisibly pre-pend SMS's with *0# when they are sent ?
thanks

I know it's an old post, but has anyone managed to solve this? Just moved to O2, thinking about calling them saying it's a showstopper and I want to quit.

I've enabled it using Advanced config but can't get this working.
it should be under HKCU
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSDeliveryNotify"=dword:0
"Settings" key couldn t be found under Inbox... i created it but it's not working.. because of WM6.5 or Sense ?
Same thing for SMS Sent notification
Code:
HKLM|Software|Microsoft|Inbox|Settings|SMSNoSentMsg = 0
BTW: where is this option available to check using user GUI (not tweak tools).
If anyone has an idea.. Thanks

To enable sms delivery notification go to Messages tab > All messages > Menu > Settings > Options > SMS > Request delivery report
I do not get a SENT notification either, really annoying!
Delivery reports are useless as they appear in your inbox as a message the needs to be opened and read, and then every othe messgae is a bloody DR!
Doesnt work for me either rather annoying, i think its to do with htc messaging blocking every over sms part of wimo.
Some one else said that scripts did not work as before due to the htc messaging app.
Indeed, that reg key is not working in hte HD2
That's what i tought.. that reg key is not working in HD2 Leo ..
If someone find a new key that could work, feel free to help
Some sort of notificaion is all we need be it visual or audable!!
I sent my first ever text message on this phone 3 times, I only realised when the receipient let me know they had got it 3 times!! lol
I'd pressed send 3 times as had no idea it had gone!!
I installed Zenyee Disable HTC Messaging 1.2.CAB so I could get the notifications back.
It disables HTC messaging so you can use the MS one.
It also disables MMS, so if you need MMS it's probably not a good idea.
Take a look here .... Linky
I don't need MMS at this time, better than nothing for SMS. Thanks
I'am also working with Zenyee Disable HTC Messaging 1.2.CAB..
No probelem here... works like a charm.
TZenus
how did you get it to work?
I bet it depends on your network. I am with O2 in Uk and neither work. I have tried all the tweak. For those who it does not work please report which network you are on.

UK on Orange, no sent notification at all, tried all tweaks.
But.... It should not be network dependant the phone should give you a notification when your sms has been sent not your network provider!!
Same on 02 however I would agree that this is a phone function not network dependant. I too could not find the reg key and the option in BsB tweaks is not there in v1.1 - could somebdody please confirm that this is design intent to remove this as the reg key is not there? Thanks guys I'm very new to the scene and all the help in this forum is brilliant thanks to you all! Kind regards Andy.
o2 do not support delivery reports so it will never work on o2 at least

Well that really sucks!
Eurika!!!!
I finally got it to work.
Let me be clear i am talking about message notification (sound and popup saying measage sent after each text message) and not delivery report and just so you all know i have an unbranded sim free uk version, but i do not think this should be network related or even firmware related ie. vodaphone ect
I disabled Htc messaging (Now using native Mocrosoft sms messaging) by using zenyee Diasble HTC messaging 1.2 cab
from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=232629&d=1254224466
and then i added this string to the registry using total comander
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
"SMSNoSentMsg"
Dword = 0
then i did a soft reset for good measure and Voila Sms notifications
I hope Htc can add this as a default in there next update.
I hope i have managed to make a smalll contribution to this forum
the cab change some graphic??
so now you have the send notification of the sms with a pop up like mms,and not with an sms like before?
I get an envelope with sms written beneath it in the taskbar when the message has been sent. It could be a slightly different graphic from other graphics you have seen (remember we are not using htc messaging but microsoft messaging app) but since i did not have this function working until now i cannot tell you.
Either way i am happy for the functionality now and am not worried about a small graphic
team,
are we really SOL on the native mms application that was around for the longest time for the HD2 i've been reading about and installed a rom without htc messaging but the mms portion is sorely missing. are there roms with mms included, what are my options? i tried to download arcsoft and I did but i cant find it on my phone! i am currently using freyberrys premium no messaging rom! help! please
i figured it out!
i kept reading about arc soft over and over again and i found a thread that offered the wvga version and voila! yes i have escaped htc messaging
jumps up and down!
if anyone reads this i have a new problem
ok so i installed freyberrys premium no htc messaging rom then i installed the arcsoft wvga mms cab from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624375
although i can open mms up now it wont send at all, is it because it was intended for a spring mogul? do i have to adjust something to get att mms settings? please help!
I have a lot of text messages and it lags when I use the new version of swype. I saw on pocketnow that you can disable htc messaging. I downloaded Zenyee disable htc messaging cab. I already searched this forum for another solution but cannot find one. Can anyone help me? It would be greatly appreciated.

I used the same Zeneyee cab to disable HTC messaging on both USA Tmobile ROMS for my HD2. You just have to install the cab and it should let you use the windows mobile messaging program.

If you only disable HTC Messaging you will lose the ability to send and receive MMS. You will have to install a special application for MMS as well.
You gave the right link for the description already:

So did you download the new ROM? Because when I install it and reboot, nothing changes. What actually happens is that I no longer can receive or send text messages. I am wondering what I am doing wrong.

I dont think the cab works for the new ROM 2.13.531.1. I am wondering if there are alternatives.
Can anyone help me?
Hi!
I am working on a solution to import MMS from other devices to android (because I haven't found a working one yet). Is there a way offered by the SDK to programmatically add MMS that even works on not rooted devices?
Thanks in advance!
It should work, as there are sms backup programs. I think both sms & mms uses a simple Provider. You should read that section of the developer site. If I'm right you'll be able to add mms as you would add a new contact from your app, and it doesn't need root.
