Discussion on various forums seems to have uncovered evidence that, despite being listed as having an early version of Manila installed, early Telstra ROMS are in fact operating with a version of Manila 2.5.
Telstra phones appear to be listing Manila version 1.0.1921622.1
Some users with Telstra model HD2s have installed cabs designed specifically for version 2.5 (ie Max Manila, Cookies tabs etc) without incident, indicating that the Telstra phone is operating with a more current version of Manila than it is listing in settings.
The recent Telstra ROM upgrade has fixed this inconsistency.

First post so here it goes!
I've recently bought a second hand HTC Diamond (P3700) with windows mobile 6.1 from HTC in Taiwan. They were awesome with the price and giving me loads of extras for this great phone. The phone was originally in Chinese mandarin but the nice people at HTC converted it to English.
So after a few weeks of playing with the phone and doing some online searching I've found XDA-Developers and people modding, tweaking, upgrading their phones. I thought to myself that this site is like the Holy Grail! So now I'm wanting to to upgrade my ROM but I don't want to do it at the cost of my phone not working based on my location.
So I would like to know my options. I've already seen some excellent looking ROM's but Im not sure if they will make or break my HTC Touch Diamond so any guidance would be very much appreciated.
My current Phone Stats are as follows:
ROM Version: 2.03.707.2
ROM Date: 12/26/08
Radio Version: 1.09.25.23
Protocol Vesion: 52.51.25.26U
Please note the phone is Unlocked using a TaiwanMobile (TWM) Sim card. If any more information is required please let me know I would love to start flashing right away! Thanks again in advance.
Welcome to forum
As long as you follow instructions you´ll be fine upgrading your ROM
read here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Diamond
Then go to Diamond section, select your desired ROM and enjoy!
Good luck,
Thanks for the reply! I'm looking forward to flashing away. I also wanted to know if there is a performance difference when flashing from a 6.1 to a 6.5? I know a lot of people doing it but is there a trade off in doing so.
As 6.5 UI is more " highly graphic" it will be a little bit slower, but nothing too much to worry
I am using it on a 2005 Universal with 64mb of RAM
So it´s ok!
Thanks for your 2 cents, I hope flashing a new ROM will save me time modding my diamond

If you take a look in the diamond rom forum you will find several guides on upgrading a rom and radio. This is probably the best place to start.
Im using a 6.5 rom on my diamond (BSB 6.5 M) at the moment and it is very good. as fast as some 6.1 roms i have used. The 6.5 builds do have some bugs and issues as they are all still beta test versions but im find my current one ok.
I was also curious to what does the radio do. Like i get updating the ROM but why is there a need to update the radio? Im assuming it has something to do with the phone and how it handles reception. My phone at the moment is running great on stock 6.1 but if i upgrade to 6.5 would i need to change my radio?
I got a new tpro 2 october 2009 edition(10-01-2009)wm6.5. I would like to know how too see versions of applications that the phone uses.I want too change themes and things like that. what is the newst wm6.5 rom and radio rom? And can someone tell me the other name for the touch pro 2. I see alot of different versions of touch pro 2's. I bought mine through MTN in south africa. Thank u.

Hi,
i've seen this Pic at Modaco and i wonder what is to see on the Homescreen
I think it is Manila 2.5 but it shows CallHistory and Calendar like Manila 2.1
Is it possible to port it in a actual CFW with Manila 2.5?
This could also be manila 2.1 .. The newest versions of manila 2.1 have the same slider icons as 2.5 and aslo weather on the hometab ... having seen the latest 2.5 version that have come out lately, I am almost sure the sense shown in the pictures is sense 2.1
Try CookyMonster's mod with new Sense 2.5. Then you can change some reg. settings to have Call history and so on with sense 2.5
this is actually the new HTC HD mini, revealed at MWC in Barcelona. Sense interface looks like 2.1 but with a twist, like footprints and twitter, just like 2.5 has. Also, interestingly, it has officially 6.5.3 on it. maybe our beloved chefs will get something good out of this baby.
L.E. according to slashgear.com, the new Sense on HD mini is specially tailored by consumers requests, so it might be the best of 2.1 and 2.5 together. the hardware is lower specced then HD2 and closer to Topaz, but it has a capacitive touchscreen. therefore it might get a WP7 update
Ahh...OK.
It's a Symbiose of 2.1 and 2.5...
We will see when its released in some Months

From what I've seen, they can keep it.
I have never cared for any WM UI and it looks like they made it worse than Titanium.
Problem is, you can't unselect it to run anything else.
It would be running in conjunction with any other interface which could be an issue for system resources.

Flashing instructions are in the ROM threads

Hi,
To answer your questions:
1. No, you can't add custom programs to the sliding bar, as this slider is used to slide between the tabs of HTC Sense (only way to add custom programs is to make a custom manila tab (like e.g. facebook tab)).
2. I think you flashed a WM6.5 ROM instead of a WM6.5.x version...
This is why you have no windows button in the bottom softkey bar (as with this Windows Mobile version the start button is still on top )
I hope this helps.
Grtz,
Degake
Energys numbers are confusing right now.. you want 216XXX which is the amped up version that used to be 23XXXX based on 6.5.5 .. 219XXX which seems like the higher number , so you think its the the big dog.. is really the one that used to be 21XXXX which is based on 6.5 build.
So .. to answer your question FIRST.. switch to a 6.5.5 build. (216xxx)
Then your slider question... im about 99% sure you can.. which is funny because no one i know has, but if you can its not just point and click its some registry edit type stuff and changing alot of icons.
P.s. the dude who just told you you CANT have custom slider tabs.. is one of the dudes on her who actually could. lol . now THATS irony
so many thanks for your replies!
... bad flashed rom is there some way to keep every settings etc. and then load them to new energy rom from 6.5 to 6.5.X? or i think the better way will be to wait for wp7 upgrade... maybe the microsoft will change theyr decision...or wait for developers to do it?!
what do u think? i have finally set up everything and now "new rom?" when do u think the stable version of wp7 will come?

Hmm, you're asking for an ETA for a stable wp7 ROM for Leo??
We haven't got a 100% perfect/stable WM6.5.x ROM, so I think it will be a long time before we have that kind of ROM (and WP7 sucks )

HD7 (looking at the specs "on paper") has only some minor changes regarding the current HD2; - internal storage instead (Europe version has 8GB, Asian version will have 16GB ) of micro sd-cards
- only 3 keys instead of 5
But it will still be a pain in the *ss to port everything over to the HD2.... (but it will be done in due time )
I ain't gonna buy anyone a phone, except my girl, if she decides to get rid of her iPhone4
By the way; only difference between HTC 7 Trophy and HTC 7 Mozart will be external design. Difference between these 2 and the HD7 will be screen size (the first two will be 3.8", the HD7 will be 4.3").
The best thing people should do, is wait untill there are some new processors released (+ 1,2 GHz), as for now all new HTC WP7 devices will have the same snapdragon as the current HD2

Hi,
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I have looked in as many threads on here as I can find and none seem to answer my question.
I'm looking for a 2.x rom for a Garmin-Asus A10. I'm from New Zealand and the carrier branded handsets here are stuck on Android 1.6. I have a few colleagues who are having issues with this handset using exchange, and according to some research, 1.6 is a bit crap at handling exchange.
What I am hoping to do is flash a 2.x rom to one of our demo handsets and do a side by side comparison of the handset running 1.6 and 2.x. However I am unable to find a rom to do this with...is there anyone out there who is able to provide any kind of 2.x rom for it at all?
I'm not just looking for a quick fix for someone to do this for me, I'm interested in getting in to rom development but cooking roms is a bit over my head at the moment.
Any help would be awesome, and again, sorry if this is a noob question, I just can't seem to find this information anywhere.
Cheers
open market firmware update garmin asusu A10 eclair
Dear A10'ers,
The Danish site of garmin-asus left the front door open to get 3 firmware updates through their site.
One of them is the open market "softwareopdateringer". Click on the link and cancel 4 times and you'll get the install software, by unpacking it you can see that they use XML code to download the update file from the garmin site.
I hope that this information gives a true hacker the opportunity to make it possible to use the open market version for a branded telephone to be updated to 2.1.
Greetings and good luck to you all,
asdfghjklµ
Is this the only way to get a 2.1 rom? I figured all that would need to be done would be to extract the 2.1 rom (I know, probably not quite that easy) from an existing A10 running 2.1...
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
Edit: I just realised by "open market" you are probably referring to a rom without carrier branding. Do all A10s running 2.1 have carrier branding or have I completely missed the point here?
I was searching for this as well and it looks like they have updated it on there site but you have to do a bit of digging to find it. Its a Telecom rom as well so its official. I cant post urls as I am new here but got to garminasus dot com. then click the location on the top right making sure its set to NZ. Its then under support - software updates. Instructions there as well. Nice christmas present
Oh that must have been very recent, I have checked up on that regularly and it hasn't been there. I'll have to have another look, thanks for the heads up.
Almost the whole reason I haven't switched from WinMo yet is because of garmin mobile xt. I procured it in 2008 but they don't sell or update it anymore but the new maps still work albeit the .exe is 2.5 years old.
I asked a couple times about this and never got a competent response, but if that garmin android software that I can't buy because Garmin and Asus are retarded could be ripped from a ROM dump I'd commission it. Asus makes my mobos but HTC makes my phones. Also, in rural areas of the United States Navteq maps get me lost less than TeleAtlas does. And I like garmin's trip configurator, GUI, and routing engine. In before "use GMM...", usually when I need GPS I'm in an EDGE area or no service whatsoever, so it's nice to be able to navigate without worrying about AT$T's crappy network not existing properly.
Rooted Garmin Asus A10 Need ROM
Hi.
Got a few questions to a man with a bigger brain than my self.
First of:
Just got my Garmin Asus A10 rooted with SuperOneClick - Great tool btw.
I've installed setCPU, set the min+high freqz to 600mhz - hoping on a better benchmark with Quadrant but the result where actually lower then before the root and freq settings.
Second of:
What am i doing wrong?
Do i need a ROM? - If Yes, then what ROM should i use?
Third of:
What about my Kernel, do i need a stronger heart to my 2.1 Eclaire.
Hope to hear from someone.
System information:
Rooted Danish Garmin Asus A10 with a contract @Telenor - Denmark.
Firmwareversion: 2.1-update1
Kernelversion: 2.6.29 [email protected] #28
Buildversion: A10-V5.0.69-user-20101022
If you're wanting a higher clock speed you will need to flash a custom kernel. I'm not sure if there are many developers on here who have made kernels for this phone, but as far as I'm aware, that's the only way to overclock.
A custom rom may help with the quadrant benchmark score, but I have been unable to find any custom roms for this device. I don't know if I just have been looking in the wrong places or if rom developers just aren't interested.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I just updated one to the official 2.1 Telecom XT build today, definite improvement all round. Prior to about 2 days ago they were all stuck on 1.6, which inspired my quest to find custom roms for it lol.

sMy Sentiments exactly! I bought my first winmo phone in 2008 and have been stuck with them purely because of the GMXT software that it can run. However, android OS has proven itself as a stable mobile system now, i would like to migrate to a green man platform, but am stuck with my Acer S-200 running GMXT on a modded rom. Can anyone extract the Android installer (CAB/APK) file out of the GarminAsus A10 rom, and post it? this would help us Garmin Mobile XT aficionados make the final plunge into the Android Phone Market.

I agree. I have Garmin XT on my HTC. I was loving the idea with the Garminfone here, but couldn't afford the $899 price tag it came with retail. waiting for a bit for the prices to come down on TradeMe...
