still having issues
i cant get flashrec to work and gold card method has failed me too (i think its because i have only sandisk SD cards)
is there any way i could just flash a rom or custom recovery image? i read this post, are these the steps i should follow? or is it something completely different?
http : // forum . xda - developers . com/showthread.php?t=530492
thanks
First of all, this has nothing to do with development. It only has to do with your failure to
a) post in the right section
b) post any information about your phone
c) you failed goldcard method, how about doing something about it! (It's like me wanting to flash a rom, but I don't have the rom! Go buy an sd card?)
d) Yes, there is a way to just flash a recov image and rom. That's rooting your phone!
e) read the correct thread?
Why are you reading about putting a recovery image on the phone when you have yet to root it?
sorry i was in the other section where i had originally posted my first thread, thats where all the info about my phone was posted. and i guess i thought i was still in that section
sorry again

I have a Droid Incredible Rooted using Unrevoked forever with S-Off. I have been running CM 6.0.2 for a while now and had an issue the other day with my SD card. The card died and when I put a new card in the phone got stuck in a boot loop. I tried reflashing CM 6.0.2 and gapps but I continue to get the same boot loop. I understand that you need to wipe all data but when I atempt to wipe the Dalvik Cache I get the the following message "E:Can't mount /dev/block/ (File Found)" what do I need to do to fix this. I have no phone right now and have become extremely dependent on using it for everything from GPS to MP3 player in my daily life so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have read some posts suggesting running logcat to find what error I am getting during the bootloop that is happening, but I have no idea how to do that. I think the main issue is that I cannot do a full wipe before flashing the ROM.
Please help! I don't want to chalk this up to a bricked device, but I won't be able to hold out much longer since I have to travel this weekend.
First of all, do not double post. It just clutters up the forums.
Second, you need to post this in the Droid Incredible forum or at the VERY LEAST, the Android Q&A forum. I'm not sure why people took the time to create all of the different forums around here if you guys are not even going to use them.
I'm just taking a shot in the dark here based on my experience flashing older Android phones. So do not tell me I'm wrong, AGAIN this is just an option to try:
Just boot into recovery and do a factory reset on the phone. AGAIN, I'm just going on what I CAN REMEMBER here. Use the hboot menu try a restore. Load a factory ROM onto the SD card (using your PC) and the flash it.
I don't know man, maybe I'm wrong about all of this. FACT is that I've had NUMEROUS phones that were in the same shape you are in right now and after google searching, a little common sense and READING I was able to fix the issues. There is a way to go back to your FACTORY ROM but I'm not going to waste my time doing the research for you here, it's your phone and you have access to the same information all of us do.
EDIT:
I mentioned common sense. With that being said, take a look at your own post bro.

I assume you meant "(File NOT Found)". You are trying wipe data off of a NEW SD Card here. How do you expect it to wipe files that are not even there to start with? Make sure your battery is fully charged before doing anything with the phone also. You might think that sounds like it has nothing to do with your problem BUT it can cause boot loops on SOME devices (android and others). Reset to factory from hboot menu. SKIP THE WIPE ALL PART BECAUSE YOU HAVE A NEW SD CARD. Just get back into your phone running Android and then you can redo everything from there.
Thank you for the response.
Sorry for posting in the wrong thread, perhaps a mod could move this to a more resonable place for this question. I'm not trying to clog anythining up. If that isn't an option I'll just create a new thread over there, but like you said that would just be clutter.
First: I did not mean (File NOT Found) the error says (File Found), seems like an odd error on a Formated SD Card that is why I mentioned it.
Second: I tried going to a stock ROM and it would not flash to the device I think it was looking for the previous official ROM that was relesed for the phone and would not install since that did not exist. The one that I downloaded was when Verizon pushed FroYo for the DInc, perhaps I can find one that supports a different upgrade path.
After trying all logical steps, google searches and reading many thread regarding people who have been stuck in this situation I was not able to find anything that was helping me restore my phone, that is why i started a new thread.
Roll Tide <<<< so you won't be so upset with me
The only reason I said posting in the device specific forum or android forums would be better is because there would be more people that know how to fix it viewing your question.
I'm shooting in the dark here but have you tried flashing Clockwork again? Just putting the .zip on the new SDCARD and flashing it? I'm sorry man, I've searched and tried to come up with a good answer but I've not found THAT much. Post in the Incredible forum would probably get your problem solved. I'm not sure that there is much of a difference between deviceds when it comes to recovery but I'm sure that you will get more accurate answer over there, even in the Android section.
Ok so I'm currently trying to root and such and I was able to root my tab 2, but when i went to flash a ROM, Clockworkmod was gone, and all I had was the stock recovery. I found that I needed to use heimdall but I can't really figure out how to use it so that I can get my CWM back. I'm kinda newbie when it comes to how everything works, If anyone can help me somehow it would be greatly appreciated.
Look at the CWM thread in the 7" development forum.
I don't see a CWM thread in the 7" development forum
If you flash CWM, you need to remove the file /system/etc/install-recovery.sh or /system/recovery-from-boot.p. Otherwise, on every boot, the stock kernel will reflash the recovery partition, leaving you with stock recovery.

Sorry, I was thinking about the CWM thread in, um, another Tab 2 forum.
Go to the pinned rooting topic in the XDA forum here. Then go to the second post. Then follow the Xoomdev link...
All will be revealed. There's another thread there that addresses overwriting recovery, too.
What rooting method are you using? If your following this forum method you should have Odin and drivers installed. Maybe you didn't have root to begin with? All you need to do is to re Odin and follow instructions.
Pp.
Delivered to you via microwave technology .
I followed the root method in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25503906#post25503906
I used odin when I did it but i rebooted into CWM during the process and when I went back to flash it was stock.
Also how would I remove those files so that it doesnt go back to stock? (sorry for the newbieness... this is very frustrating to me and I can usually understand this fairly well)
EDIT: Figured it out, thanks guys for the help
Had the same error as you, still can't get passed it! :/
Frustrating!
Try a different USB slot. Several folks did that and bypassed initial problems.
Hi there.
I very rarely need to post on forums to ask for help but in this instance i would like a little help before i proceed.
I have unlocked bootloader, and rooted my phone but im stuck on the next two steps i would like to proceed with.
Before hitting me with the old "use the search button" i have been through many pages and i am genuinly stuck. So please genuine help only.
The two steps i would like help with are the following.
1: Installing a custom rom. How is this method performed? Do i download rom and put it on memory card and install from Clockwork or do i need to do a bit more reading and install from fastboot?
2: I would like to install a modded kernal as well. Is this done through Clockwork or fastboot and does it require installing in a specific order i.e. rom first kernal second.
All help would be appreciated.
The available guides out there are not bad (and very appreciated), but i feel leave a few holes that I have ask for help for in the above for the modest rom flasher, Hopefully the answers to these questions could help others with simalar need.
Kind regards
Alex.

You are in the wrong forum section. To answer you questions:
1. Download rom and put it on memory card and install from Clockwork
2. Fastboot
No specific order, but I usually install the ROM first and then the kernel.

Lol if you searched you would've seen the stickies in the forum you posted your question in, which is the wrong forum!
1. Backup, wipe, flash ROM.
2. Reboot to fastboot then flash it using one of the many guides in this forum if you really searched.
Please post in the appropriate forums, the Dev section is NOT for asking questions or for support.
Hi everybody, first post on this forum!
I'm sitting here with a GT-I7100 and was reading alot about the ARHD 9.2 ROM, which I'd like to try. However, I feel like I've entered a giant jungle with only a little nail scissor as my only tool. I've read countless of threads regarding bricking and only god knows what. I'm still convinced (bricking aside) I'd like to install a new ROM, and the ARHD 9.2 install instructions (found here) are extremely easy to follow. I am now wondering if it really is this easy, or if every single ROM developer on this forum expects you to have some software already installed on the phone for a ROM flash to succeed?
I'm at the moment running the stock software as configured by Samsung out of the box. Are there any steps I have to take before following the (oh so easy) install instructions found in the ARHD 9.2 thread? If so, where can I read more about them - and are there any guides with simple step-by-step instructions which explanes each and every step? The amount of terms I've found on these forums are overwhelming, and I therefore feel the need for a thread like this.
EDIT:
After even more reserach, I've managed to convert all of the above to a few steps, which I hope are correct.
1) ROOT using CF-Auto-Root (thread instructions here)
2) Install ClockwokMod ROM Manager and then let it flash Clockwork Mod Recovery by itself)
3) Backup current ROM using CWM and then continue to follow the instructions found in the ARHD 9.2 thread.
4) Install Triangle Away to reset the flash number.
5) Have fun!
Is it this "simple" or are there steps I've missed, still? Please tell me, since i'm not sure about this one, really.
Also, do you still need to root the phone using step 1) or will CWM do it for you aswell?
NEW EDIT:
Found this thread which explains all required steps in detail.
This thread can therefore be closed, thanks.
Best of Regards,
Christer F

I have successfully rooted two devices using xda forums. Just make sure you read on past the tutorials. Most of the time you will find valuable information on what errors other users encountered and so on. Once you start flashing rom's it's hard to stop.
Recently purchased a tablet and looking for rooting and mod, thanks
No neee to worry... simply keep backup everytime...
i have been looking for the repair/backup of my root on my Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 cause i accidentally full unrooted it using SuperSU application, and then i found this site. and i feel so lucky that it has the most normal/simple tutorial on how to root my device again . and when i download the file about 400++mb, it only says Unknown Network Error, and i tried it for about 4 times. the picture is attached on this thread.
Note : my network is all well, honestly i just downloaded other file from google drive too, and everything is perfect.. so i thnk its not the net.
This is what i want to download .. (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2746658) <-- remove parenthesis
PLEASE HELP ME... I NEED TO DOWNLOAD IT AND ROOT MY PHONE AGAIN..
FOLLOW-UP QUESTION
is it possible to reroot my phone from this procedure.
Well even if you've lost root on your current ROM, that doesn't matter as long as you have a custom recovery like CWM. If you know how then just flash that ROM, but being as you have no device specific forum you should post your question in the thread you linked me.
If you didn't understand any of that, then follow this guide HERE. Good luck.
the one you link to me is for CM Flame 2.0, my unit is Blaze 2.0, is that the same ?
im sorry for being noob but i dont know have any familiarity on the term ur giving me . you mean if i have my CWM on my Recovery mode .. i can just click that and then *bang* im rooted again with my system being reset ?
Thanks for your time and effort on helping me ! i'll expect a reply. TY

The zip is just a generic superSU update zip. It sounds like you have a recovery in which to flash the superSU zip anyway, so yes you may just be able to follow that guide. It won't break anything if it doesn't work though. If you need any further help then you should post in the Android Q&A section. Good luck
sir, i just found out that i have what u called CWM in recovery mode. does it help.

I can't give you technical help (read the 2 stickies), although I'll answer you once and say yes it helps: I highly recommend you read up on stuff abour custom recoveries, kernels, etc. To gain better understanding. I've given you a guide to follow HERE and directed you to the correct place to post further questions HERE. If you are still in doubt despite reading carefully through the first link then you should post in the second link where there are many more helpful members who may even have experience with your exact device.
