Hi can anyone shed any light on a problem i seem to be having with the TP. I previously had a TytnII and it was straight forward to copy the app to my SD card using WMDC, click on the setup cab and it would install.
On the TP I copy the app to my SD Card using WMDC, click on the cab and opera browser launches with the route to the cab in the address bar and does nothing more...
Am i doing something wrong ?
has anyone else got the same problem ?
does anyone know how to resolve it ?
It's driving me mad there are some great add-ons on this forum and I cant install any of them currently....
Any help is very greatly appreciated!

Have you already installed TF3D Config from Sushilange?
If not it can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749

It doesn't matter where you put the .cab on your device (I have all of mine to my storage card). Once it is on the device navigate to the .cab and run it, it will install to where ever it belongs.

Instead of using winrar to extract the files from the .cab file, just save the .cab file itself onto your card and run it from your phone. Hopefully this isn't a case of the noob leading the noob, but I think that's how you do it.
Please do a little leg work before posting.

i have same problem
well, i also ever got the same problem
Sometimes, HTCHomeSetting.xml is not made to be put on windows folder but on Manilla gfx folder. And that used to be my problem
try to reinstal manilla2D, and use M2DC to backup and restore your default skin, i hope it's work
Your HTCHomeSetting.xml file is messed up.
Here is the stock XML file. Turn off M2D (untick TouchFLO in your today settings), drop this xml file in your windows folder and try reloading M2d.
I always keep the stock XML for instances like this. Even sometimes the restore doesn't fix itm2d issues.

Manilla 2D is the theme and icons the whole bit that i want to get working. Please someone help b 4 i go insain. or point me in the right direction so i can find sum answers. Thanks
What kinda device are you installing this on?
How are you using to transfer the files? Activesync? WMDC? Total Commander?
Are you manually applying the theme or using M2D Customizer?

its a tmobile wing/ htc herald I put the files on my sd card throu activesync and then tryed to copy them to the windows folder on my phone memory. Not sure on how to do this at all I have figured out alot of other stuff just not the theme stuff
You shouldn't have to drop the XML on your SD card. Just browse for the windows folder on your device and drop it in there right away. If it doesn't let you drop it in the Win folder, then I would drop it on my SD card and use software called ''Total Commander''. TM is pretty much a file explorer but will let you change system files that would normally error.
Being I dont know all your circumstances, this is what I would do and how I have it setup on my phone. Works flawless as well. I can change themes in seconds.
If that XML file didn't cure your problems then I'm assuming you have issues elsewhere as well.
First I would remove M2D and reinstall it. Once you have that working again, download and install Manilla 2D Customizer...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392
Create a new folder on your storage card and name it ''M2d Themes''. M2D customizer works with a file extension of ''.mtdct'' Some skinners will create there theme's file with this extension for you. It is nothing more then a zip file with the extension renamed.
If the theme's files your trying to install is compressed into zip format, just rename the file from ''.zip'' to ''.m2dct''. Drop the file into your new ''M2D Themes'' folder on your storage card, open up M2D Customizer and browse for the themes ''m2dct'' file you wish to install. Click ''Apply Theme'' and it does all the work for you.
I must have 30 themes in my M2D Themes folder and as I feel the need for a change, I'll load M2D Customizer and switch themes. It's a piece of cake!
Hope this helps.
My icons don't update correctly when I apply a new theme using M2DC...Someone mentioned that there are v1 and v2 themes but I can't for goodness sake distinguish between them. Apparently some hacked versions of M2D will only correctly use v2 themes...Any ideas/suggestions? I have searched all over but can't seem to find a solution other than overwriting the HTCHome...xml file...
Hi,
I am new to the forum and am feeling very computer iliterate at the moment ...
Would someone please be so kind and explain in simple terms how to install .cab files / programs on the HD2
I have been trying to install the TCPMP media player (was going to link it, but as new user am not allowed)
This is what i have done so far,
downloaded the file
unzipped into a file on my SD card in the HD2, trying to execute the "set up" file.
the only executable file is the setup.xml and it opens a web browser but thats it.
Am I missing something i need to install first to make this work?
Any help is greatly appreciated. World Cup is starting soon and I would love to install the WoldCup app as well
Thanks,

I think you unzipped the actual cab file . Just copy what you downloaded to your phone then run it.
ah yes, feeling pretty blond right now .......
thanks though
Ok, new to all this. I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 CDMA. I flashed to an Energy Rom, looks great. Now... How do I load other software... games and such? I have looked around here, thinking it would be part of the first post, I was wrong. Perhaps this site is too advanced for that? If so, point me to a newbee site and off I shall ride. Thanks in advance for your help. This phone is awesome, and the Energy rom I loaded, looks sweet.

well. there is the microsoft marketplace. or .cab files.
.cab file instructions...
one. download application's .cab file. suggested list of applications can be found here.
two. move the .cab onto your phone's storage card.
three. on your phone, navigate to the .cab file with file explorer, or other like program.
four. open .cab file.
five. choose installation location. device or storage card.
six. select install.
seven. enjoy.
and i havent ever used marketplace before...
i always find the .cab file.
sh4d0w86.
Not to make fun, but it is pretty surprising the you are able to unlock the phone and reflash the OS, but can't install software.
If you search this site, Microsoft Marketplace, or just do a Google for "Windows Mobile freeware", you'll find many thousands of apps. Find the app you want, copy or download the .CAB file to the TP2, and execute it.
For example, Google "Google Mobile Maps", download the Windows Mobile .CAB file, and run it.
Thanks
Well, the instructions to flash a phone are detailed and many. One problem I had was I was dropping the 7zip file onto the phone. Also, I could not unzip the file with the extension of 7z because I did not have the correct unzip manager. Another issue was I was trying to Sync the programs to the phone. Thanks for clearing it up. Is there a logical place to put them on the phone to make them run fast? Thanks in advance.

Installing to main (internal) memory is much faster than installing to the SD (external) memory. Installing large programs to the SD card is the general rule of thumb for obvious reasons. It's up to you where you prefer to install them.
If you mean where should you put the actual *.cab files, then you could always delete them once they've been installed. You don't need them again unless you're going to flash constantly. It's always good to back them up, so storing them on your PC or the SD card would be preferable.
Thanks a bunch!
well, check out this thread..........
cabs just load on the phone and run like any program, just find the file and click it. exe's need to run from windows (regular computer) and install through activesync.
