Simple: Every 2.1 ROM I've tried has an issue updating ANY weather widget except for the HTC one. Temp never updates, conditions never update, location never updates.
Any suggestions?
beautiful widgets works fantastic for me on dcv1.0
Didn't run v1.0 long enough to test.. Had it for a day or two, went to Darch 4.1, 4.2.2, then after a week or so went to DCr2.. I wouldn't mind using the Sense UI if I could trim the number of screens down and if it wasn't such a pig..
beautiful widgets should work great on any rom, even has full screen animations(on touch only though not after unlock)
Weather Forecast (paid version) is working perfectly for me after flashing to the r2 version of the DamageControl ROM.
(And, the bug is also fixed in Sense where you don't need to reconfigure the widgets every time you need to reboot or restart Sense now. )
I wiped and flashed r2 again and installed only the basic stuff i need and all last night and today Weather Widgets was working fine. This morning it showed my hometown and temp., at work it showed the city I work and temp. But when I got home about 2 hours ago, the temp updates, but the city is stuck. I made sure I'm using GPS and I opened up Google Maps and sure enough GPS points to my house.. AAaahhhhh! This is killin' me! Always something.. I'm hoping it's just these ROMs and when the official ROM comes out these problems will be ironed out. B/c if it's the software not clicking w/ 2.1 then we have issues b/c they're never quick enough to update the apps...

howdy peeps iv been having a play round with the rom to try and decifer whats causing it to be so slow and also iv noticed that messages were also not being recieved.
I HAVE THE SOLUTION
right the slowness is caused by the flip clock with the weather update feature, i noticed that when you go back to the home screen it straight away goes to sync the latest weather information, theres two ways of boosting the speed one is either to simply change the clock to one that isnt weather or click onto the weather bit and disable auto weather update
you will notice that there is now no lag swapping from screen to screen, this deffo cheered me up as the slowness did start to peeve me off
and now for that text swiping demon lol, if you have noticed that your messages arent coming thru i found the fix, its the sms widget, there sems to be a bug which is eating them all up lol, basically get rid of it and you will notice you have friends again.
just thot id share my findings with you, because i am now more than happy with my new rom its speedy and have texts again lol
i wonder if i take the message widget from an much older hero rom like the beta rom would it still have that bug
thats what im looking round for, im checking the dream forums because there roms are flowing out and they seem to have no message probs , ill get back to yas
EDIT: ive just replaced the message widget with the one from jachero latest rom, so far so good il let ya know if i get any problems
heres the alternate message widget
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1PFF4ALW
success
i have had no problems with texts whatsoever since the change over i deffo recommend this to everyone who is experiencing these problems, i have recieved texts and pic messages from various devices and no problems when before i would get the odd one
This sounds like a great find, only one thing.
How do I get this to replace the current messaging widget on my HERO rom?
I want to try the Hero ROM... but the Fatality ROM which is the one that works BEST! on my Magic, seems to have been taken away :'(
There's another link to the download on the second to last page I think, have a look because that's where I got it from.
just place the message widget on the sd card and open it through a file explorer on your phone, its what i did just installs like any other aslong as you have allow android applications from other sources selected
Did you tried with this optimized rosie?

It should be for Jachero's rom but it may work on Fatality's rom too.
I have the Sprint Hero, and this is my ROM history throughout the month I've used it...
Stock --> Fresh 1.0 --> Fresh 1.1 --> Full Wipe --> RUU Stock 1.56 --> Gumbo 1.5b --> +Gumbo Kernel beta
I have partitioned the SD card with each ROM to FAT32+swap+ext3. Apps2SD appears to be functioning fine.
I've noticed that I have a couple apps that lose their settings after every single reboot. This hasn't changed across any of the configurations I've been through, except for on stock. It behaved the same on both Fresh ROMS and still does this on Gumbo.
The 2 apps in particular that annoy me the most with this issue are Weather Widget 3.5 (I paid for the official app), and GTalk Quick Status (I paid for the official app). I'm more interested in these since I keep them both on my home screen. They function perfectly after they are setup, and are very useful apps.
But sure enough, every time I reboot the phone, they have to be re-configured (or widget removed/replaced) and enter the settings again for them to work.
The apps creators and other customers have provided no other feedback of anyone else seeing this issue, and I'm believing that it is something on my end.
Would anyone have any idea why some apps do not retain their settings after reboot? And any advice on what I could do to fix this issue?
Weather Widget is an incompatibility with Sense. If you stop using Sense and use the vanilla home screen, it remembers its settings. Very annoying, but it's the developer's fault.

Weather Forecast v2 and MoreIcons are two widgets I know of that have started to add an extra configuration to their setup screens to workaround the Sprint Hero widget bug.
With the fix in place though, you can only have one instance of the widget running at any given time. Makes the MoreIcons widget somewhat useless, but at least some devs are acknowledging that the bug exists and are doing what they can to make it easier for the end user.
The problem does seem to be with the Sense UI only though because I'm using the SweeterHome UI now and don't have any issues.
Hey guys,
My gTab is only about 2months old and it's already behaving like old equipment. the boot time is more than a minute. Many applications take a good ten seconds to load. The new Google+ FCs each time I tap the message or places button. The Dolphin browser takes forever to load.
I'm running CM 7.0.3 with pershoot's .32 kernel to fix the WiFi issues. Any suggestions as to how I can get the lag out of this beast and whip it to shape?
Ginger behaves like this, especially cm7.
Do you have widgets running? I had a weather widget once that made my tablet run laggy. As soon as I took it off pow!!! Back to normal
Well, yes. I have WeatherBug running, along with a few others. Also, my Google+ repeatably crashes each time I try to tap on the pencil icon to enter a status message. Is this known? Also, does any1 recommend upping to the 7.1 CM?
I'm considering heading back to Froyo for full speed.

I just found that using my fake location make G+ work. It's a location issue.
As I mentioned before, I think going back to Froyo is the only way to get good performance. I just tried the Brilliant Corners Froyo-based rom. Since Vegantab 5.1.1 is pretty much done with (no one is supporting it or issuing updates), this seems the best option if I wanted something more mainstream with proper driver support.
I'll be honest, there's stuff I miss from CM7 (particularly the Gingerbread Bluetooth stack and flawless netflix), but as a whole the device seems much snappier.
It was a bit of a headache changing bootloaders to 1.2, but it looks like a lot of more interesting developments are happening on that side of the loaders now anyway.
Can you point me in the direction to get this new ROM? I'm not interested in BlueTooth or Netflix on the device.
Some 'construction-type' or resource gathering games are persistent after you exit them (Bug Village, Paradise Islang, Gangsta) so the game can can give you an update while you aren't playing. I've found that killing those apps really helps performance and doesn't affect game play when you launch again. I've also seen an increase after killing some weather apps, but others don't seem to affect performance at all.
I'm on AOKP "The Swagging Continues" ROM.
The weather on the lockscreen has been working for a long time, about 4 months+ and recently it got stuck, so I disabled it, re-enabled it, and now it reads N/A
I've tried flashing different versions of the ROM, and restoring a Nandroid backup from a time when the weather was working...
I can't even find info on how to fix the problem, I've been searching daily for a week now.
For the time being I'm using Yahoo Weather, but I don't like it very much, I liked the simple lockscreen reading.
Same for me with a completely different ROM on a completely different device.
In the data directory of ROM Control I can see that last time it was updated was the 02. April.
Yahoo weather service is working just fine, so I assume their weather API is working fine, too.
Glad I'm not the only one... I didn't change anything since before it stopped working... so I don't know why it stopped.
Yep, same here. It just stopped updating last week sometime.
T-Mobile LG MyTouch e739
andr00ib's AOKP JB 4.1.2
Really wish I knew how to fix this problem... :crying:
I noticed my wife's Galaxy S2X also isn't showing the AOKP weather
Nobody knows why?
buggy weather panel in AOKP (4.1.2)
same to me ! i'm also on "Initiate Your Swagger" for my sensation (lastest one)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828250
and the weather penels only shows N/A or rainy ?!
i don't know how it should like, cause i just flashed it two days ago, but i'm sure it can't be right
It looks as if Yahoo are restricting Aokp from using their service for reasons unknown, but interestingly some CM builds seem unaffected:

It sounds like a new weather provider is needed.
Regards.
I'm guessing you can't just change the weather provider without some major difficulty? I searched a bit, sounds like you need to rebuild from source to do that?!?

I'm not sure to be honest. It seems as though some users on Sensation are having no difficulties at all.
It may be also due to the GAPPS package that is used.
There are many custom and "Slim" versions around, that may not include the needed location apps needed when compared to the official version on :http://goo.im/gapps

It's the Motorola M Launcher but not specified for our Verizon GS3.

I'm currently on MB1 Jelly Beans Rom build 15. Really like the "Rings Widget" on the Motorola Launcher and wanted to rock this launcher for a while. Will this mess up my phone if I try flashing it?

Thanks for the links! To be honest I just want the Motorola Rings Widget lol.....I could care less about the actual launcher. I'm not really feeling that you have to always swipe left to get to other home screens. That seems it'll be very annoying!
Okay I am confirming that this launcher definitely works with the Verizon GS3. I am on MB1 Running Jelly Beans Build 15. This launcher is running fine so far on this Rom. Only bug I found is when you swipe right to get to Motorla's quick settings, if you select the GPS to be on it'll crash and ask you to choose the home screen again. But that's not a big deal to me because I have the GPS toggle when I pull the notification bar down in the quick toggles
I only have two gripes about this launcher so far.
1. You can only swipe left to get to other home screens.
2. The consistent Google Search is always there but it's Google Now so I don't mind it too much. Just a little annoying to be on every home page.
After rocking this Launcher last night, all night, and this morning I found that though it does work it seems to make things glitchy and not as smooth. I had to get off the launcher because the Weather was NOT updating itself. It kept showing me it was still night time at 9AM in the morning and when I check on it, it'll say last updated 3 soomething AM. If the launcher was more stable and functional I'd stay on it because it's nice to have a different look and feel every once in a while. But this version of it is not a daily driver in my opinion.
