I was trying out some apk from the milstone and messed up my camera app. Wondring if someone one had the stock one. Im using cm 5.3. any help please

Hi,
I was wondering if there is anyway u can install a new camera apk on my nexus s. One which has all camera functions and 720p recording atleast. I found a camera apk called miuicamera but I can't seem to be able to install it any help will be very much appreciated.
Btw I have rooted my nexus s but still can't manage to install that camera apk.

Just by installing a camera.apk that has the 720p video recording option does not make you have that function. For one the NS is said to not have the hardware for 720p, but keep in mind that was also said about the N1(Nexus One) . Maybe a dev can get it to work, but it wont be as easy as just installing a different camera.apk.

let's take a step backwards, as having someone provide a fresh apk for your camera won't have any effect if your camera simply isn't working because of something that went wrong with flashing or whatever. so, what happened that caused your camera to break?

I am too having this problem. But I am using stock ROM (2.2.1).
But my problem is little different. If I access camera from camera (stock one) app its working fine. But if I try to access camera from apps like "ABBYY BCR" or "Night Vision Camera" etc. then I get the error "The application xxxxxxxx (process XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I tried these applications around one month back (when I installed them), and worked fine. But I don't know what happened but I am getting this error now.

i dont know what happened i flashed posedion rom and themed with conced evolution by jooode . and after that i tried the camera was not working. I tried the other cameras vignette and camera 360 ultimate the camera is working through that and the video camera is not working.
Help.
And i thought i would go back to to stock rom 2.3.6 and i was going to create a nandroid backup. but i am not able to do that also. it says got an error in creating md5 sum . Help me

I'm no expert, but I'd assume you got something corrupted along the way. did you make a backup before installing the poseidon rom? if so, revert and try one thing at a time to find out where it starts causing errors with your camera and md5 creation...
i took a backup but i am not able to restore it
Seems the only other easy way out is use the #friendly* version of TITANIUM backup or MY BACKUP PRO, do backup of the USER apps ONLY! do a clean fresh install of kpq or ddkp2 and restore the data and apps of the USER APPS BACK!! SEEMS to be the easier way to solve ur issues with the phone! Imho

Here i am attaching my ddkp2 camera apk. Replace it. Look whether the problem is solved...

I am currently on the latest cm10 nightly for the nexus s and I was disappointed to find that the seamless switching between camera and gallery was lost for CM10. Is there a way to get that feature back, will replacing the CM10 camera apk with the stock jellybean camera apk work? Thank you!
Don't know if it will be back in future Nightlies cause I use the Jellybro and it's gone as well. I was told that the camera.apk and gellery.apk used to be merged together that's why we we're able to swipe from Camera to Gallery.
Anyways I'm no expert might not work but just install the camera.apk and gallery.apk from previous build and put them in your current rom system/app.
Try gallery first then if not working try both but don't forget a backup first. I'm no expert but free to try I guess. Din't do it myself cause they update the nightlies eveyday me be an error from them....oh well good luck

To get the Camera to Gallery swipe function working[/B] you have to swipe on the bottom bar rather than swiping the viewfinder (near the blue shoot button.

Okay so I've searched all over Google and asked around threads but could not get an answer. So I'm hoping someone can come in here and help me this. I recently switched from the ATT MIUI ROM to the new 4.2.2 ROM and the one thing I noticed about the camera was that it wasn't as good as the MIUI camera. Specifically the video recorder. CM records in DVD and the MIUI recorded in HD+. I been trying to install or replace the CM camera with the MIUIv4 camera but I can't get it to work. Even when I was able to replace the CM camera with Miui camera by renaming it to MotCamera and rebooting. It would just end up recording in DVD again. How can I get the MIUI camera to work on my phone or have the video record in HD+ and not in DVD? its driving me insane.
Have you applied the proper permissions????

Yes. I'll change permissions to rw-r-r and reboot and nothing happens. If I try deleting the stock camera rebooting, the camera is missing. If I try renaming it to the stock cameras name and replacing it, same thing happens.
I guess since the miui is ics based and hence it cannot work properly on 4.1/4.2.
You should try some other camera apps like lgcamera. It works flawlessly on CM10.1.

Mind posting the apk.I'll give it a try and let you know.
Btw there are two camera/gallery apps in the 4.2.2ROM (gallery2.apk and galaxy4.apk).Did you try moving both of them and then placing this apk in system/app with proper permissions.

I uninstalled the MotCamera that came with the ROM, got rid of the two gallery apk's and moved the BlurCamera(MIUI camera) apk into system/app and renamed the permissions to rw-r--r-- and rebooted and the camera wasn't there. No camera app at all.
That person could be correct when he said that the camera I am trying to place in my 4.2.2 ROM is ICS based and that is the reason why I'm not able to get it on the ROM. Here's the APK though. This is the APK that is in the ROM from this thread - LINK

I use a Nexus 5 and now I am on stock but I remember that in the CM11 there was a modded version of the stock camera because it has got the function "color effect" for example.
I tried to extract the apk file of the googlecamera from the last nightly zip of CM11 but it doesn't work on stock.. it goes on FC.
I really miss the function to add realtime filters (mono, sepia etc) on photos or videos so I hope that someone could help me! :fingers-crossed:

I would really be interested in that as well... Just for the sake of it, have you tried the LG G2 Camera port from jishnu? I think it has filters as well, but im not sure as i havent tried it yet

Hi! Yes I already tried it, it is well made and it has got filters but some features still not works on it.. like frontal camera.
Instead the CM's 11 is more functionally complete. Still hope that someone could help us!
