Discussion/Problems/Requests for Morphs. - Nexus One Themes and Apps

This is a thread where you can post questions, concerns, requests, problems or general discussion for the morphs for the Nexus One that are contained in the Morphs for the Nexus One thread.
This thread will serve more of a purpose once more morphs are posted in that thread, and there morphs don't have a "home" thread.
When the need arises, I will place how-to's in here.

[REQUEST] Morph that enables 7 screens?
Basically what helixlauncher2 does. I love the 7 screens and the 180 screen rotation but the lag to me was way too much. Is there just a plain morph for this. I dont want a theme or anything. searched and no luck

Why not just replace Launcher2 with its modded version (aka HelixLauncher2) ?

1) Download v0.6 SYSTEM APP: Here -> 565KB
2) rename to Launcher2.apk
3) run the following adb commands: (dont run the lines with #, those are comments)
Code:
#clear up the old stock Launcher2 data, because it may cause problems with the mod, you WILL lose all icons and widgets from your screens.
adb shell rm -r /data/data/com.android.launcher2
#backup old
adb shell cp /system/app/Launcher2.apk /system/app/Launcher2.apk.stock
#copy new
adb push Launcher2.apk /system/app/Launcher2.apk

Problem he had was Telia was way too slow. He's looking for a way to add 7 screens to the native launcher.

You can get Helix Launcher in the Market that will enable 7 screens!
I ment the home replacement version.

The current Helix launcher(Nexus one version) is very laggy. Native launcher is very smooth, no lag or stutter to it, no force closes. I get force closes several times a day with Helix. He wants some way to get 7 screens on the native launcher.

Maybe a dumb question....
Can I use Terminal Emulator (the one in the newest cyan mod) to push things like .apk's?
I need a way around not having sdk here at work. I can d/l the .zip's no problem, bit what can I do from there?
I've managed to get cyan, kernels, radios and morph mods etc - so I'm not THAT dumb, but I've searched all over these forums and I can't seem to find a straight forward answer to this. Also, is there like a terminal emulator guide I can read somewhere? I'm assuming it's just like the adb stuff just slightly different?
I'm pretty new to this stuff so any help would be great. THX

Green Selection
Would it be possible to have the green selection like on the hero roms and keep the notification bar the stock color?

you can use root explorer to install .apk to /system/ or even replace files on the /system/ that need root

Yes terminal commands are fairly equal to adb commands. Here is a simple run down.
adb shell is the same thing as entering a command into the terminal.
adb shell reboot
to
reboot
adb shell followed by a series of commands
adb shell
xxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxx
yy yyy yyyyyyyy yy
zzzzz zzzz zzzzzz
to
xxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxx
yy yyy yyyyyyyy yy
zzzzz zzzz zzzzzz
adb push would be like so
adb push Mms.apk /system/app/Mms.apk
to
cp location-of-file/Mms.apk /system/app/Mms.apk
adb pull would be like so
adb pull /system/app/Mms.apk desktop
to
cp /system/app/Mms.apk location-to-put-file
finally
adb remount
to
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /systems
Those are basic adb commands to terminal commands. Sorry for the crappy layout of my post. I may fix it later but all the info is there.
Also, I am going to request a mod to move the posts to the general discussion thread as per the first post.

I can work on one later on, but yes it is easily possible.

deleted. (was a request to clean up teh Morph release topic)

just letting you know,
Im actually in the works of a theme with green selection effects and a stock status bar, among other things, as in more white acccents including white lockscreen tabs. (david already knows) thanks again!
Just letting you know, however i dont have a nexus which makes it extremely hard to test my theme out

try using the 0.5 version, its faster than 0.6
the 0.7beta standalone pushed to /system/apps/ is definitly faster than 0.6 as well, never have had FC issues from helixlauncher2 personally, but i only use it as /system/app/ and not standalone

[REQUEST] clear status bar
I can't seem to find any threads about it...
I would like a clear status bar for Modacos Alpha 19 Desire Rom Any ideas??

Where all do you want the green selection? Do you want every green image from framework-res.apk or just the buttons, hightlights/selected/pressed buttons?

Installing Chinese Input on JFv1.50 ADP1.5

Source: http://www.sofee.cn/blog/2009/05/01/214/
I figured some of you may be hankering to switch from haykuro's ADP1.5Hr3 to jesusfreke's JFv1.50 ADP1.5, but miss HTC's perfectly working Chinese Input on haykuro's ADP build. Simply installing HTC_CIME.apk gives issues when changing the Chinese input methods to anything other than Handwriting, such as PinYin. This is because you need the dependent libraries in addition to HTC_CIME.apk!
Here's how to do it:
1. Download HTC_CIME.apk and the dependent libraries at http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=fd121d39fa751465c2b435915e8821d7e04e75f6e8ebb871
2. Extract to a folder somewhere
3. Run the following adb code in a command window opened at the directory where the files were extracted:
Code:
adb remount
adb push lib/libcimet9.so /system/lib/libcimet9.so
adb push lib/libimezi.so /system/lib/libimezi.so
adb push lib/libpphwr.so /system/lib/libpphwr.so
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatPYP_CN.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatPYP_CN.z8d
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatPYS_CN.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatPYS_CN.z8d
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_CN.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_CN.z8d
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_HK.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_HK.z8d
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_TW.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_TW.z8d
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatZYP_TW.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZYP_TW.z8d
adb push lib/zi/Zi8DatZYS_TW.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZYS_TW.z8d
adb install HTC_CIME.apk
4. Go to Settings > Locale & text > Check 'TouchInput Chinese'
5. ???
6. PROFIT!!!
Awesome tip. Thanks for sharing.
God,there are so many files need to add into the system area...
I have not try the Google input method yet.. Is it ok to install without any modification?
thanks will try this when i get home.
Would you by any chance know how to get the HTC TouchInput working? (The non-Chinese one). When I try to install the apk for it onto 1.5, it forcecloses every 10 seconds.
Awesome one. Your help is much appreciated.

Nope, I have never tried any build with that, sorry.
Oh BTW there is one thing I've notice with the HTC-CIME.apk in JF1.5.
If I call out the handwriting interface in horizontal layout, the TouchInput will crash.
Does any buddy meet this problem too? I'm now trying very hard not to write Chinese in horizontal layout now.

Just tried it - facing the same issue. I didn't notice this before since I was using PinYin input all the time.
Does this problem occur on haykuro's ADP1.5Hr3?
lol just load up HTC_CIME.apk via app installer and you have chinese touch input, no need for all those steps...

Yeah, I've been trying to do this too, but IDK what's wrong...
the normal key.apk forcecloses, but the chinese touchinput works (and it has everything key.apk has), so I'm just using the english part of the chinese one
When I press the up-right arrow in the handwriting input screen, it force-closed and will force-close everytime until I uninstalled it. Anyone experienced the same?
if you want to use it just for typing, just load htc_CIME.apk thats what i did, typing is flawless even in landscape, im not Chinese so i don't draw in, tho if they had an english version thatd be awesome.
Thank you!!!!!!

I have no problems opening and using handwriting layout in horizontal. I am running JF ADP1.5 with CIME+libraries from Haykuro 1.5r3. I actually diffed the system folders of JF1.5 and Hr3 myself before I discovered this thread (who needs search when you can just reinvent the wheel, right?) Unlike the OP, I actually also had some additional z8d files in /system/lib. They are not identical to the ones in /system/lib/zi , so they might be important. Here are the steps I carried out (for windows):
Code:
adb push \lib\libimezi.so /system/lib/libimezi.so
adb push \lib\libpphwr.so /system/lib/libpphwr.so
adb push \lib\Zi8DatPYP_CN.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatPYP_CN.z8d
adb push \lib\Zi8DatPYS_CN.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatPYS_CN.z8d
adb push \lib\Zi8DatZHA_CN.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatZHA_CN.z8d
adb push \lib\Zi8DatZHA_HK.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatZHA_HK.z8d
adb push \lib\Zi8DatZHA_TW.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatZHA_TW.z8d
adb push \lib\Zi8DatZYP_TW.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatZYP_TW.z8d
adb push \lib\Zi8DatZYS_TW.z8d /system/lib/Zi8DatZYS_TW.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatPYP_CN.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatPYP_CN.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatPYS_CN.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatPYS_CN.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatZHA_CN.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_CN.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatZHA_HK.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_HK.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatZHA_TW.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZHA_TW.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatZYP_TW.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZYP_TW.z8d
adb push \lib\zi\Zi8DatZYS_TW.z8d /system/lib/zi/Zi8DatZYS_TW.z8d
adb push \app\HTC_CIME.apk /system/app/HTC_CIME.apk
adb shell reboot
And here are the MD5s of all the involved files. The z8d files that differ are highlighted in red:

Manually remove lockscreen...??

I am using Modaco 2.0 Beta
I would love to remove the curved grey bar in the lockscreen apk, which I am led to believe is com.htc.resources.apk and is located in system/framework
within that is a folder res/drawable-port-480x320, which contains the 4 .png files.
Thing is, if I simply remove them, it throws the phone in a continuous loop when booting up, so obviously it is looking for something to go int here.
Is there any way anyone can tell me what should be there if I simply want to remove the grey bar ?

I am not sure what Modaco's lockscreen looks like but you can get a clear lock screen from fresh and push it in with the pre-kitchen. I dunno exactly what you are wanting to remove though. Just removing pictures isn't a good idea, open it in photoshop or something and make it transparent.
If you don't know how to do that, you can give me your file and Ill see what I can do.
I was wondering the same thing. I moved from fresh 1.1 to test this out, but I liked having one of Noj's lockscreens. I tried to use the kitchen to push it and it worked but that stock gray bar was still there blocking it. any help would be appreciated

Griff emailed me earlier saying he had figured that out. Maybe we can get him to post back his fix.
OK, what you need to do if you are running Modaco is
go here
http://geekfor.me/kitchen/lockscreens/
and download one of the first 2 lockscreens, either (ClearLock w/ 1.1 icons) or (ClearLock w/ Stock icons)
Once you;ve installed the clear lockscreen, you can then update the wallpaper.

I am having this same problem I can't seem to get rid of the lockscreen background image I have done:
rm -r /data/misc/lockscreen
and flashed every clear lockscreen .zip I could find if I do what Wtphoto did with system/etc/lockscreen/port/ would I do something like:
rm -r system/etc/lockscreen/port/
I am so used to the clear lockscreen I can't do without it now and it's been so easy to get rid of with Fresh Roms but for some reason any other Rom that I flash will not let me remove the stock backgroung image

I cant seem to get rid of the back round screen behind the clear lock. I might just make a transparent one but i was wondering how you were able too Ill try another thing
Ecit NVM I FInally got it to work... installed the clear lock screen zip from Geeksfor.me and Removed the screens in /system/etc/lockscreen/port then reboot .In Business now
I have never had a problem getting rid of the background lock image before with Fresh's Pre-Kitchen or rm -r /data/misc/lockscreen but on the TTG1.6 Rom and MoDaCo 2.2 I could not remove the image but rm -r system/etc/lockscreen/port worked after looking through about 10 different threads on removing this image thanks to whoever figured that out
wtphoto, how did you remove those images? I am using root explorer but the images say they are read only. did you have to put a command in the terminal? I have better terminal installed so I could use that if I need to, just need the command code. Thanks in advance.

if you had an older version, be sure to switch to a different keyboard, then remove the old LatinIME.apk before pushing the new one over, otherwise you will get fc's like crazy!
lib:
(you may not need this, but it shouldnt hurt anything (backup instructions below) and if the keyboard doesnt work, then definitely try pushing it)
http://www.mediafire.com/?awy84cz5t8ngx49
some have reported that for some reason or another this file downloads as a .txt (although it comes as a .so for me all the time) make sure you rename it, if need be, to libjni_latinime.so before going any further
you will need adb for this method (others have done it without a computer)
youll either want to be in recovery, with /system mounted, or remount it read-only while the phone is up (need s-off for this, thanks unrevoked!)
then push the two downloaded files to your phone: (in some roms it is called GoogleLatinIme.apk, so use that instead of LatinIME.apk if thats how your rom is)
Code:
adb push d2keyboard-signed-fixed4.apk /system/app/LatinIME.apk
adb push libjni_latinime.so /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so
choose your input method like always, and enjoy the multi-touch keyboard on froyo
ok, the screenshots really dont mean much, anyone can use gimp, but w/e thought id put them up there anyway
thanks to LegionTHEFecalExcretion for the system dump!
if you like what i do and feel compelled to donate something to me, do so here
Great thanks

You were right, install the app but it kept force closing. Thanks. I'm using Skyraider 2.2
I can't tell you how excited I was when I pushed this on my phone, not because of how it is a much better keyboard then the stock one. I was excited because I was able to push this system without having to be in recovery. UnrEVOked is amazing!
BTW.. I am having no issues with this so far. Excellent keyboard, good port!

i'm running sapphire 1.0 and i was able to install with Root explorer.
Works on skyraider 2.2 - no pc required. I did have to copy over the lib file with root explorer. Btw I am typing on this keyboard now and it is amazing at correcting mistakes!

I can't push the .so file to my phone, the keyboard fc's on me when I try to select it in the input method section, so I thought i would try pushing the lib, but it keeps saying the directory doesn't exist.
this is exactly what i type
adb push libjni_latinime.so /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so
cannot stat: 'libjni_latinime.so' no such file or directory
It downloaded for me as a. Txt extension. I had to change it to .so - check to see if that happened to you

Oh i thought it was supposed to be in the root of my sd card just like the apk.

[q] heeeeelllllpppp meeeeeeee pleaaasseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

SO, let me give you a little story.
One day i came up with the lovely idea to use NinjaMorph on my stock rooted BLUR ROM. after experiencing some cool mods, i tried to make my lockscreen back to stock... bad idea. after finding some of what appeared to be stock lockscreen pngs in my framework i changed my lockscreen into what now looks like a peice of ****. i tried to get them back through like a back up but i didnt have a backup made...
SOOOOO.... does anyone have a fix for my issue OR have .PNG'S for the stock android lockscreen i could use????? I wud really appreciate it
P.S. Because of my issues i have sadly been forced into the stupidity of gummyJAR and my phone wont let me install liberty 1.5

Ok a couple of things here. When you mess your own phone up because of user error, it's not polite to bash on other's work for no reason, at least that's how your last comment comes across. I'll be nice and help you out but don't be surprised if a little flammage comes your way.
Second, people aren’t going to have random .png files laying around, it would be a long shot for what you are asking for, just being realistic. You are more then likely going to have to back up all your files and do a factory reset in the event someone does not have the .png you need.
If you want to give it a try with Root Explorer or transferring the stock res.apk file to your computer, the file you need will be in your update zip file. Once you find it, go to system, framework, framework-res.apk and find the file name you need. If you are using Root Explorer to find, it will need to be extracted.
sorry i didnt mean to be insulting. i have tried a factory reset but because changed the framework.res.apk it wont change back. im actually now taking some of the pngs from gummyjar and trying to give my blur a gingerbread notification bar

here is another way to fix your issue....
Take the attached framework-res.apk (taken from an unmodded gummyjar 2.5) and copy it to the root of your sdcard.
Connect your phone to your computer and put it in charge only mode. Next, do the following from a command prompt in windows. At the end of each line, press enter (not trying to be insulting, just for clarity sake).
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
cp /mnt/sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
cd /system/framework
chmod 644 framework-res.apk
next open another command prompt (done to keep the one with shell access open).
Type from 2nd command prompt:
adb remount
adb reboot
Your phone will then reboot, and you should have all your original framework... Note that any theming you have done to the framework images will be undone, but your phone will be fixed.
PS having your phone in a bad state on one ROM should not prevent you from using another ROM. When you install a ROM, most times the new ROM's will format the existing /system partition to ensure that remnants of an old ROM are gotten rid of.
And as stated above, please don't bash on the devs. Kejar31 gives a lot of his time to developing his ROMS (as does any other dev), and they give out their work for free! =)
Hope these steps work for you, post back if you have issues/questions.

How to remove apps using adb
To me the best and free way to remove apps from your phone is via adb. Hopefully you have some familiarity with adb if not you should be good after reading this.
First open a command prompt and type
Code:
adb remount
this will allow you to do what we need to do if you have errors then you need flash one of the roms I provided.
then type
Code:
adb shell
cd /system/app
ls
this opens adb shell commands then opens the system directory and shows you whats in it. If you are using the deodexed rom you will have nothing but .apk files in there. But if you use the stock rom then you will have .apk and .odex files in there.
look through there and figure out what apks you want to delete and then type
Code:
rm whatever.*
replace whatever with the app you want to remove
for instance
Code:
rm googlevoice.*
then type
Code:
cd ..
cd ..
cd /data/data
pm uninstall com.googlevoice
this part here changes your directory to data/data and then it completes the uninstall. You may have to guess what the name is in data/data but usually it isn't that hard. Also you can't pm uninstall apps from data/data unless they have been removed from /system/app so don't be worried about removing the wrong thing.
check your phone and you should be good to go
I'm going to get one this week. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks!

not to bring up a dead threaad....but the optimus v really needs a home here at xda.
i just rooted my first. i tried to use a windows program called "romtools" found on the interwebz. this didnt work, though. so...after a little more searching...i found this out. maybe the opt can put this up in first post?
easiest way to root and install super user: run super one click root to obtain adb shell root. then...run z4root. neither of these two methods work on their own but if you do in that order...you will have root and super user installed. from there, you can flash a recovery using android terminal emulator...if your old school like that. i did.
after that you can flash the stock virgin with Xionia kernel and bloatware removed. get setcpu..overclock it. whatever. door is open.
hope this helps! trying to get some thank you points on the board.
back again to try to keep this thread a little bit up to date til SOME1 NOTICES THAT THIS PHONE EXISTS.
for those having the "Cell standby" battery bug....
whats that? go to setting>about phone > battery usage> if cell standby is at anywhere near 50% or over...you have this bug. antenna constantly scans even with a connection...
plugg phone into charger. toggle airplane mode. unplugg. this will clear your battery stats and will properly connect you. check your setting to see if your usage goes down.
there also seems to be a problem wil gallery. the app opens but displays nothing. no albums or anythinng. its like it cant read the sdcard. only thing i can say to do is install a 3rd party pic viewer and trash 3d gallery.
hope this helps you guys.
Awesome, thanks for this. I currently have CM7 on my Optimus V, but for some reason I can't use any adb commands with it. I can with this. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post it, but I'm still a new member. Anyone know a way to get adb working?
hey did you guys ever figure out diag mode for the Optimus V? its not like the the other Optimus devices and ive tried every key combo my little brain could come up with....im trying 2 connect it 2 QPST or CDMA..
