lock files application - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

is there any application to lock pictures and videos or files in general? please can you name it. I tried searching for it on google but couldn't find it. please help me thankyou

If you want to prevent unwanted people see your files, photos and videos, I think the following software can do the job :
-Resco Explorer (just use the encrypt/decrypt functionality)
-WMkits: http://www.wmkits.com/guides/how-to-encrypt-folders-on-your-windows-mobile.html (I have not used this one though, just googled)
Hope this helps

is there any app that just asks for a password when access is required instead of encrypting and decrypting it?

[App request] A folder encryption app...

Can someone please create an app that can encrypt folders instead of just individual files? There seems to be plenty of file and password encryption apps in the market, but I can't find any that will encrypt folders and it's contents. Maybe have the app password protected so when the user is in the app he or she can view the files in the encrypted folders without having to decrypt them. In otherwords no other app can view the contents until it's decrypted.
I'm sure someone in the xda forum is capable of this and I can't image I'm the only one that would find this useful. Willing to donate!
I believe the Biowallet Beta app does this.

Nah man, you can't encrypt folders with Biowallet only individual files. Cool app thou...
+1
This seems like a useful app idea!
What kind of files are you trying to protect? I was using File Cover to hide images and videos in the browser, but I found it easier to just keep all my files in a single folder and rename that folder with a . before the title so the contents don't show up in the gallery. This doesn't protect anyone crafty enough to use said file manager, but it keeps my gallery safe.
I'd like if all files I place in a certain folder could be encrypted, so that if somebody steals my phone they cannot simply stick the sd card in their computer and randomly access anything personal/private..
I'd also like the folder to be password protected so that if my phone breaks I can open the sd card on my pc and get access to the folder content just by typing a password.
Please shout out if you know an app that makes this possible.
Regards -e
In the meantime you could try using Protector which can passcode protect any application.
Check out RR File Locker. Again, won't lock a folder, per se, but you can stick whatever files you want in there and organize into folders inside the locker. Encrypts and password protects anything you put in there.

Take out your SIM, run the installation over Wifi. I'd personally recommend pushing it from market.android.com rather than using the market on your phone.

market.android.com doesn't look for my country when I sign in my google account?
I really don't understand the choice to country-limit the installation of an app, credit cards are credit cards all over the world, aren't them?

[Q] Renaming Files and Folders

Hi all,
Loving my Optimus 3D but can't seem to work out how to rename files and folders. I know once you have taken a photo it gives you the option to Rename, but I was wondering how I could go back and rename photos and video files, and folders from before (without connecting to my computer). Anyone know?
Also can you create folders within the phone for content? And can you organize content in the Applications section, e.g. sorting Downloads in order or placing them in different categories.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

To rename files and folders and create folders on your phone you'd have to have an explorer app that allows you to browse your filesystem. I'm not aware of any browser apps that don't require root (ie. Astro or Root Explorer) but then again, I've never had the need for one and always had my phones rooted.
You might wanna be carefull when renaming folders and files though.
I don't think the standard launcher allows changing the contents of the applications drawer.
Thanks for the response, appreciate it. At the risk of sounding like a total noob, what do you mean when you say having your phone rooted? I'm total new to smart phones and always just had an old simple mobile.
Also, is the Optimus 3D like the iPhone in that you need to hack it to install apps downloaded from your PC for free or can you install any apps via PC
get "estrongs file explorer". it's free and does many many many more amazing things than just letting you rename files without root requirement.

Rooting a phone basically gets you super access, kind of like having an administrator account on Windows. It comes in handy for example when you want to use custom roms, get complete file access, use screenshot tools etc.
And an Android phone is in no way an iPhone when it comes to installing apps. There's an option that when turned on allows the installation of apps you didn't get from the Market (it's in the Application section of your options menu). Presuming you only use free programs you downloaded you can just put the .apk file on your internal or external sd card and install it, either by using a file browser (such as the mentioned Estrong) to find the apk or using a separate app installer which you can download from the Market.
Awesome, thanks for the reply really appreciate it, and I actually understand it now.
So if I downloaded and installed an app or game from the internet for free, that usually had to be bought on the Android market or from Gameloft for example, could you get in trouble or banned/blocked in any way?
Sorry if this is a noob/inappropriate question
Cheers
no. google actiually lets you do what you want with your device.
Awesome, good to know. I'm really wanting the Gangstar games from gameloft but they aren't available to purchase via Gameloft yet. I can download the pirated versions and install them, but would Gameloft cause any problems when I did so or would I always have to play in airplane mode?
Most pirated software works just like the original version, just check if there's any installation instructions. The biggest disadvantage in my opinion is not being able to update pirated software through the Market.
You can use Polaris Office included in the phone as file explorer for all the naming, copying etc.. The name is a bit misleading
Nice, I didn't know that Polaris was a glorified file browser. Works great for viewing, editing and removing files and folders.
So, to the topicstarter, this is all you need to do the things you want. You can edit your filesystem and browse to your downloaded apps to install them (for example create a map called DownloadedApps, connect your phone to your pc, copy any downloaded apps to the map you created, disconnect, use Polaris to browse to the DownloadedApps map and click on any app you want to install).
If you want to rename a file or folder just long press on it and you'll be presented with all the options you need.
Yeah, I just had a play around with it, looks and works really good. Thanks for all the help folks much appreciated.
PS - If anyone could provide instructions and a link on how to install the Gangstar games (hereby showing me how to install ripped games at the same time) I would very much appreciate it. Been having no luck getting it to work

[Q] [HOW TO] Content transfer - Cross Platform

How do you get to transfer in the easiest way - songs from an android device to a fully unlocked Nokia Lumia 710?
also..
Where do the attachments in my hotmail get saved on my local phone storage? I have fully unlocked L710 and HTC Titan. Someone sent me a few clips attached to hotmail. I can play it from my email attachment but would like to find the folder where it is locally stored after download, and then be able to play the content from Zune. Is there any homebrew app for such file management? I have File Explorer, but don't know where these attachments can be found, then moved so that they are playable in Zune Hub.
this is a great question that I would also like to know the answer to. There has to be some way to mount the storage and manage it from a pc like you can with Android.

I did not really bother trying to find the answer. But someone who uses Android in my family tried to send me a few clips of music that I really really wanted to hear. Now ofcourse I have got it via bluetooth and that I can access. However, he sent a few more by email as my bluetooth transfer was slow. I had presumed I can find these songs in the same place. BUT nope!
However, here is my progress.
File explorer -> Applications data -> Volatile -> Email attachments -> go to each folder. Each folder represents one attachment.
So I was happy after posting this that I found where the attachments are.
However, when I copy and paste the same under my Zune contents, I cannot see it in my Zune Hub and cannot ofcourse play it from Zune hub!
Zune on the phone uses a database of media files. Merely moving your files under \My Documents\Zune\Content\* isn't going to help. The only way that I know of to add arbitrary files is to copy them to the PC, then sync them using the PC Zune software. Nobody has yet figured out how to do it more directly, although I'm sure it's possible.
Mounting the phone as USB Mass Storage is just not even vaguely likely to happen. The amount of driver writing and re-configuration that would be needed... I don't think you realize what you're asking for. There are deinitely options, though; for example, my Root Webserver app lets you browse the phone's filesystem (including uplodaing and downloading files) from your PC. You just have to use a web browser instead of a traditional file manager.

That does add some light to the scenario! Thanks!
So does that mean that even though we do have homebrew file explorers, we cannot really control our attachments i.e. sandbox issue? I have realised in last two days that our file explorer functionally isn't same as those traditional WM6.5 or Android ones. Hence theoratically speaking yes we do have file explorer but not to its full functionality..which leads me to another question. So ideally what do you use your file explorer for?
Aside from aiding my research and testing my hacks, here are a few things I use file browsers for:
Copying ebook files (.MOBI and .PRC) to the Kindle directory.
Manually editing the Marketplace configuration files (for example, some downloads are even bigger than the 200 MB that Marketplace Config will allow you to specify).
Freeing up space on the phone's storage (deleting temprorary files of my choosing, rather than simply purging the whole phone).
Backing up application data to my PC.
Turning music files into ringtones/alarms/etc.
A number of these can currently be automated using apps, and there are others that could be more useful to other people, but that's what I've found to be useful.
Content Transfer
Well I have been in same situation , I went with wifi transfer option, caz its quite secured and helpful for content transfer, like you can use smartIO App, which is good op

configure access to files and directories (SD) per app

Hello,
I was searching about a feature to limit the access of apps to certain files or directories.
Use Case: I may have a directory I store music and do not want to share this with (amazon music, ....)
I may have a directory where I store pictures which should not be seen by other applications.
Today I use a of the shelf Samsung A3 2016 Android 7.0, but I used Xposed, CM and rooted devices. in the past. I'm not registered as developer here did never codded Android app or kernel but developed on embedded Devices and Linux in the past. I would be happy if you could share a ready to use setting, app or development idea (even if you did not got it running).
What I investigated and did not work so far:
Option A - .nomedia
I know already there is a possibility to use .nomedia file in the directory to avoid pictures being shown in Gallery, BUT this is a feature of the Gallery app (as far as I see). So the developer of the Gallery app could also access to the pictures in the directories, if they would like. So I'm not happy with this.
Option B - using cryptography
So I could simply put the sensitive data into a container, there are apps out e.g. EDS.
But I found out if the application who should access the data is not providing a "path" where the data is stored or doesn't provide an interface to a cryptography it can not be used. And once I entered the password and the directory is mounted all the applications running are able to access the files.
Option C - restrict media access
The Android allows to restrict the access to media, so I simply could switch off the access in the app I do not want to allow. But this doesn't work if the app need to store data. Android Music should be able to store the music on the phone but should not be allowed to access the other directories on my SD.
In pure Linux it would be quite easy you can use different users and access to files.
But Xposed may provide a solution as I could filter requests to the file system, but is there a example out there.
Thank you for reading all the stuff
I'm looking forward to read about your ideas
gonso
Hello,
no one has an idea or solution? I'm not able to post in the developers section may be one of you
may move the post into the Development part.
If not existing yet I would try to find out how to develop

Limiting Android App Permissions ( V13 )

Does anyone know how the access permission for Android applications really works (OxygenOS v13.0 for me, OnePlus Nord2 5G)?I find it very convenient to be able to share a photo, for example, on Facebook. However, I have to grant access to my files before publishing, even when I only want to share it from the gallery and not directly from Facebook.
It seems that previously, we could choose not to grant access to files automatically and directly send the photo from the gallery, which seems logical and more secure to me.
Apparently, the authorized applications can access my photos without restrictions all the time. I noticed this particularly with Facebook's "suggestion" to post by directly accessing my photos...
Is there a setting that I may have missed or an application that can block this?
Thank you.
Preface: Android does NOT allow on non-rooted for configuring System Settings or App Permissions using a 3rd party app.
