new to the post, I just want to say thanks for everything. You guys are great and with a combination of aderall and having to work during spring break I have been learning alot about linux and my phone. Best part of this forum compared to others is the lack of trash talking done by "Big" men behind their computer screen. I Made sure to read as much about every aspect before asking a dumb question, but the question I have is if using a cpu overclocker with this rom is worth it or does the kernal do all i need to do, thanks agian

not really a launcher but is there a droid roise for 2.1 to change the bottem task bar ?

Odd, my two friends with G1's envy my(our) black pull down.
oh they probably have custom roms then see if you can get a stock g1 dialer app for me please? I'm trying to see if i can get it work on the hero

What he is saying is the grass isn't always greener. When I had my G1 everyone, including me, were flashing Hero roms like mad and vanilla android was the devil now that we have sense that is meant for our phones we all want vanilla. I think a white theme for sense UI would suffice for me.
what would be cool

envy:
1. feel envious towards; admire enviously
2. a feeling of grudging admiration and desire to have something that is possessed by another
3. be envious of; set one's heart on
4. spite and resentment at seeing the success of another (personified as one of the deadly sins)
I was referring to the bolded definition.
Hey all! First and foremost thanks a lot for the awesome morphs, themes, ports, and apps! You guys are amazing... I got the 2.1 update for my stores droid and the neural network live wallpaper is awesome... any chance of getting it ported folks? No, it seems Motorola made their own custom version. It definitely looks interesting.
I could easily rip it from the official Droid 2.1 update zip, but I don't feel like downloading it, and there could be a chances that it may not function properly, or not be made for our screen size.
Hmm what does this look like?
It is all red cross-hairs that are a lot thinner than the nexus lwp... also they have a fade effect that kinda resembles a comet trail... the background is also different kinda gray fading metallic grating texture. to sum it up its AWESOME. I seen a youtube of it somewheres.
Here's a video where you can see the live wallpaper mentioned.

I pushed the wallpaper to my Nexus, but like I predicted - it doesnt work. I pushed the LiveWallpaperPicker.apk, and the LiveWallpapers.apk from the Droid update and it still did not function properly. I'm probably not doing something correctly, or, there is just more that needs to be done.
i used root explorer and tried them both as well as changing permissions ro read/write wich at least replaced the live wallpapers home menu link but thats as far as i got... i noticed theres .odex files and im thinking maybe they need de-odexed... though i dont know and could be wrong as i am not no where near that knowledgeable about porting apps... all i can do is... USE THE SEARCH BUTTON ;-) and fallow directions!
Thanks again to XDA and their Dev community!

I can't remember which Dev did this, but there is a LWP out there that modd the proginal Nexus LWP. Search for the Dev and request it from him. Why port something that can probably be modded from existing work?
Just a suggestion.

um... i dont think its the same as the one i got with the official ota 2.1 update... it is totally different from the nexus one aside from the fact that it has cross hairs. i want this so bad in green especially!
I would pick this over the Nexus ... I admitted it, shoot me!
Any progress though as my HTC Desire is very interested in this ...
its called NexusMod and its in market..
Pete at alldroid or Blackdroid at droidforums.net have modded versions of this wallpaper try one of them for it
Could someone please give me a direct link so I can download it straight to my Desire. Do I need root for this?
That video showed a custom exploding Droidlife boot animation but I didn't see the Droid version of the live wallpaper. Have any other links?

Ah, that one. Yeah, that one's pretty cool. Not a "must have", but it would be cool to have on my phone as an option.
I could make a youtube video of the one I was referring to, but trust me, it's not worth it...
Now, for a completely unrelated question....
How do I get one of the demo phones? I've done all the right things. Tried the phone stock when it was fresh out of the box, tried better roms, wiped EVERYTHING and then reflashed the fastest roms I've found, and my phone has never, ever been as snappy as what they show in these demo videos.
Makes me wonder if they build special demo phones that have a 3ghz core 2 quad in them with three and a half minutes of battery life.... (just enough to do a quick demo and then run back to the booth for a fresh battery...)

Someone leaked it to modaco a while ago. As for messing around with it. Install it and run logcat to see why it fails. Then use smali or the apktool from the g1 forums to modify it.

I'm sure you are being ignore because you are asking a question that just can't be done as simply as you may want it to be.. it would require framework changes.. one would probably have to port the entire Droid X to the Nexus, or the launcher that comes with it itself. Since I believe it runs NinjaBlur.. this would take some work.. that some wouldn't want to put up with.

Well, thanks a lot for your answer!! if it cant be done.. then ok! no problema.
Thnaks again and sorry for the inconvinience.
it sucks but with any custom android UI theres a good 99% chance that nothing will be useable outside of it.
So far, the livewallpapers seem to be the only thing that you can put on any version of android 2.1+
I would like to have that too .

That Rusty Metal theme kicks ass. I'd love to port them, alas I don't know how!
i would love to try these but i dont have lots of experience ive only done light porting
Well, I sent PMs to the creators of the themes, but it will be tough for them to do since they don't have the phone.
yea im good at replacing png files but when it comes to when files dont add up and different xml files im clueless
rusty metal eoll be a difficult port because the g1 is mdpi

That Rusty Metal one is the perfect one for us scrapbookers. I would love to get that one.
yea, these are not a cinch to port since they are for mdpi, as pointed out
its definitely possible though, i may look at it this weekend, but its going to be time-consuming and a royal pain in the arse
I'd just be happy for more themes don't care what they are..was visiting the evo and desire forums..good stuff they got going over there man would those be easier to port rather than g1 themes?

try to stick with hdpi themes, like ones from the evo/nexus....they are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy easier to port.porting themes from an mdpi device (like the hero, eris, g1, mytouch, mtslide, etc) is bigger pain in the ass than you can imagine

OK. I did some digging.
I found "More Vintage Less War" ported to the Nexus One here:

That was it, though. I checked the Evo, Desire, and Nexus One forums, and that was the only one of the three I found. I'd still donate to get all three, but one is a good start.

I will port what needs to be added so you get the full look on Froyo.
Edit: Done trying it out now. Needs a little work but, I like it...
This has only been tested on Sky Raider 2.2, should work on other froyo roms. Backup then use at your own risk.
1. For the Rusty Metal theme you can use Open Home Full plus the Rusty Metal theme thats on market w/ my Rusty_Metal_Incredible_froyo.zip.
or
2. My Rusty_Metal_Incredible_froyo.zip with Better Cut and Launcher Pro.
I'm uploading it now, we should start another thread for it though. Right?

Note: Unzip then use these icons or whichever icons you like.

Edit: Just to clarify, I am less concerned about icons/launcher dock, etc. I can do that already with LauncherPro. I was more concerned with the notification bar, and other framework-related pieces of the theme. Is that what you meant by "what needs to be added"? If so, I love you.
