X05HT / HT-01A Users outside of Japan. - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello.
My girlfriend(who lives in Tokyo) is about to purchase either a used Softbank X05HT or DoCoMo HT-01A off an auction site, for usage outside of Japan with an European SIM-card.
With problems unlocking some of the X01HT models, we're worried whether it's possible to just purchase a used one, and then flash it (hardSPL -> CID/SIM unlock -> some English ROM).
Does the Radio of the device need to be something specific or anything like that?
We're most likely going to get the X05HT - IF it's possible to use it of course.
- I have read through all posts concerning the japanese models, but never found the answer i'm looking for. So, sorry for creating this topic, but I'm kind of desperate.
If you'd please be kind and tell me whether it's possible or not.
Thanks a ton!

Is there really no one who can tell me either yes or no ?

Additional Touch Pro ROMs coming (Japan)

This is purely for information, but the Touch Pro should be making its way to Japan in the near future as the E30HT on carrier au/KDDI (CDMA), X05HT on SoftBank, and HT-01A on NTT/DoCoMo (both UMTS-I/2100). Still no word from Japan's 4th carrier, e-Mobile (UMTS-IX/1700), but it has just launched its own version of the Diamond, so it might also pick up the Touch Pro.
Preliminary details are here (in Japanese).
So to cooks be on the lookout, there might be some goodies we can pick off of these various devices/ROMs.
And more importantly, this is great news for SoftBank users, since it almost certainly guarantees a way to access SoftBank's unlimited data network/plan (which is proxy-password protected and has been rather difficult to open up on the Kaiser and other WM devices; those that know about "WiFiWake" will understand).

Thanks for this information fhsieh.
I am moving to Japan this weekend, taking my EU TP with me.
I plan to get a contract with Softbank and put the sim card into my EU device.
Should work, no?
Now of course, I am very interested in "SoftBank's unlimited data network/plan" that you mentioned.
Unfortunately I have not used network plan here in EU, as I had a company sim in my TP, and company did not allow network plans.
What did you mean by "those that know about "WiFiWake" will understand"?
I do not know about WiFiWAke, so I do not understand.
would you mind to explain to me?
Thanks and regards,
ARo
I knew for a while that the Touch Pro would be released here in Japan.
However, its good to bring this to everyones attention. I am planning to rip some of the roms features and hope to get some speedy roms going.
I also know that there will be many drawbacks, since all Japanese WM devices are usually crippled and many usual features are cut out. ( ICS for example)
About the Wifiwake issue. I use my softbank flat rate on both, my shift and my touch pro without any problems...(not using wifiwake though )

Yes, Softbank runs a UMTS 2100 network and the EU TP has UMTS 2100. Keep in mind, to get a contract you'll need your foreigner ID card (外国人登録証) or the receipt that shows you've applied for it. If you're not familiar, your company/host should be able to explain everything to you.

SoftBank has a few different data plans that are intended for different phones/services, and depending on how much you use 3G, certain plans may be cheaper for you. Of course you can use an unlocked phone on their network, but each plan has different network settings, and one of the plans requires the program WiFiWake to register the correct network password (although this could be different now).
I must admit I haven't tested it personally because I am not yet in Japan (I will be soon, however), so for more details I would suggest searching the Kaiser forum for "Softbank". It might be confusing but at least you'll find the XDA members in Japan who can provide more specifics.
The only other thing to consider is that most Japanese message each other through "emails" that are pushed through the carriers' MMS services. For this, you'll need to either get Softbank's S!Mail app (which is why the Japanese ROM will be useful, if the new TP S!Mail app is improved), or MMSLite. And then (optionally) an emoji font. Again, Kaiser forums will have much more information for that.
Of course, now that Softbank will officially have the TP, I suspect many Kaiser users in Japan might want to upgrade, so there's a fair chance that someone (like aquasesh ) will simply cook a ROM with all the right settings that you can simply flash.

Sounds like a plan.
silly question... searched again and came up with answer. DOH!
Hi all.
I'm using an unlocked HTC Touch Pro on Softbank.
I've never been able to get the MMSlite option to work on my phone.
I'd like to try to the S!Mail app that comes on the X04HT or X05HT.
Since the X04HT is out, did anyone manage to strip out the app so that other users can install it?
On a similar note, my problem might be related to the fact that I've never been able to get my @softbank.ne.jp email address activated/changed from the default random address you get from a new contract. Does anyone know how if there's any way to get that step done on my phone?!
Thanks!
I have also been using the TP unlocked with the softbank flatrate connection. I have used the flatrate on the past 3 phones without a problem. In fact, even applied for the newer flat rate plan using the old connection method without billing issues thus far...
I dont really care for the Japanese locked down rom... I just want the radio
Softbank X05HT cid info wanted
I just HARD-SPLed my X05HT, forgot my original CID to patch Wifiwake.exe.
Can someone be kind enough to supply the cid info by following command via mtty.exe:
Cmd>getdevinfo
Cmd>info 2
Is there any softbank plan that supports the wm device as a modem?
In another words, I would like to connect my laptop on the internet using my phone as the gateway.
Cheers.

[Q] Droid 2 Global noob

Hello, first let me say i am not new to android, i use to have a X10, and flashed and moded a little bit so i am no afraid to move the android guts in my phone.
Now, i bougth a D2G because i really ned a qwerty keyboard, and because is the best shot for my.
I am overseas, so no in USA, it came unlocked as the ebay vendor says, but...
1.-The D2G seems to come GSM unlocked, but made an upgrade to the last firmware released by verizon and now is locked again, bougth unlock codes from 3 diferent sellers all the same 2, none of there worked so 6 intents to unlock are burned only 4 left i think. so where can i get a working code?, i am not in USA, neither can reach verizon network from where i am now.
2.-I have a pccard whit cdma 3 g service here in my country, is possible to program the config and prl of the pccard to the phone to have data connection, i understand i will not have voice or sms as my service is data only, but is at least posible?
3.-For what i understand there are just one custom rom, defuse team, out there for using in the D2G, but i seen other deodexed "stock" rom, is it safe to use? as in i will/could not lose the GSM unlock (if i unlock it again).
I know some, if not all, of this issues are adressed in other posts but maybe dont get it, so i respectfully ask to someone who can help me to do so.
Thank you for any help you could provide me.

[q] suggestions please! :)

Hi everyone,
Sorry I'm a newbie here and I'm hoping that I came into the right place to post this question. I badly need some advice.
Let me introduce myself, I am from Thailand and just a student. I know all my life I wanted that Samsung Galaxy S 2 android phone but it seems I can't make it to that real amount of money. So, from thinking too much I came with a plan to buy a phone there in US, those with contracts because they are much cheaper (please correct me if I'm wrong). And let my friend carry with him when he got back into our place. Please be guided that he's on the US now and am planning to be back on November so I got plenty of time to save and buy it.
My question is.
1. Is it possible to buy online from those carriers like AT&T, Sprint and etc considering I am from Thailand?
2. If the answer to question no. 1 is yes, I'm thinking that I will have a locked phone meaning I can't use it with other GSM (other SIM). So can I unlock it?
3. I heard some things like "Flashing Custom ROM". Is it okay? Will it unlock for phone if you do that?
I know my motives aren't so good but this is the only way I think is the best. Thanks a lot guys! Have a good day everyone.
Best Regards,
Paolo

Just as WierdPirate mentioned above, it is( unfortunately for you) not possible to that.
Why?
First of all, for you to get the Galaxy S II, you need to sign a contract. For you to personally do that you must:
a) Be a legal U.S Resident
b) Be at least 18 Years Old
c) Have a valid U.S Address
Be aware of the following, even if you do manage to do acquire one in some way:
The device may come cheap but you sign a two year contract with the carrier in question, another hurdle to overcome.
There may be ways to avoid sales taxes, but that won't compensate for it not working outside the US.
Hope this helps.

Will it ask for SIMunlock? [Nokia Lumia 710] [NeedHelp]

Hello, guys.
I have a problem. I am from Ukraine and i recently bought my Nokia Lumia 710. At the box there titles in Italy, and there also instruction in Italy. As i understood, there is operator from Italy called tre.it linked with my phone. My microsim [operator - MTS Ukraine] works great. There no problems, but i want to get full-unlock for my phone and i read that it's possibly that after installing custom rom, my phone could ask me for Simlock code. How can i know, will it ask for it or no? And what can i do with it? I am want very much to get full-unlock but i want also use my phone, not to keep in hand device, which doesn't work without this code.
Thanks in advance.

What is unlocking ?

Hi,
Guys can anyone tell me what is locking/unlocking devices ??? I live in Egypt, but one of my relatives lives in America I'm going to send it to their home so they can send it to Egypt, which site should I buy from ?. What if I unlocked it will I still have to pay and by unlocking it means I can use anyother carrier ? Software also will be as the international device ? Is it illegal ?
I need any piece of information anyone can help ?
Thanks in advance
Unlocking your phone means your phone will no longer be "tied" to a carrier.
For example I have a T-Mobile Vibrant (from USA), that I use in Canada on Wind, because it was unlocked.
It is not ILLEGAL, (some countries yes, check with your local laws).
I know unlocking blackberries was difficult (from my experience) and you would have to pay a couple dollars for it.
Other phones you just click a button and its unlocked.
Choose the phone you want to buy, and google phone name + unlock.
Hope that helps.
