HTC HD2 Arabic & Urdu Support
Hello
I am using HD2 UK-Tmobile with full arabic & urdu support after searching couple of forums got working perfectly
Just follow these steps & you ready to rock
simplest option to read news only is install skyfire from skyfire.com free
Install Mobidiv_454_HTC first (if you like to use mobidiv prayer as well then install prayer first because if you install after installation of mobidiv then its overide setting & you wont't able to read /write)
then KFGQPC urdu keyboard (its not part of mobidiv its from pocketpc.qurancomplex.gov.sa/[/url] which is very good if you like to recite quran free on your phone its excellent program with urdu / english translation availabe for win mob)
You will get other version of MOBIDIV but attach one is with original HTC keyboard for arabic.
Please bear in mind they are for actually arabic so .............. but i tried its working 95% for urdu some word not merge when you wrote but if mail/text appears - ok so lack only when writing
for browsing all comes ok - i use daily for bbc urdu / mabile.jang.com.pk
Enjoy

I hv tried earlier successfully, Hindi, Marathi and Gujrati. Not sure for others as I do not have the right fonts. It works like this :
-Take the fonts and copy in /Windows Folder(or windoes/Fonts folder)
- Reboot the PPC
- Go to IE, then Menu>tools>options
- Select Unicode(UTF-8)
-comeback and view any hindi or regeional website, u shd see the content and not just the squares.
Same in worD Excel.
Set the font to the regeional one of yr choice.U can use normal keyboard to key in the letters..might need little bit of practice, but it works

it doesn't work on windows mobile v6.1
says 'This is not supported on this platform type'..
Do we have a definite solution for this now.
i am also facing the same problem on my HTC TILT 2.
The mobile is not displaying Indian fonts. Instead it just displays boxes. Annoying
I would really appreciate any help on this.
hello all,
i'm lloking for a solution - i just bought a htc 4350 in germany -so it came with wm5 in the german language , when i'm connected with the wifi i can't see nothing with hebrew encoding, how can i solve it? is there a free hebrew package that i can install on my phone ?
thanks in advance -- fensi
I know of companies selling Hebrew support but I don't think there is a free solution.
The problem with languages like Hebrew and Arabic is that MS neglected to implement right-to-left writing mechanism in Windows Mobile. Doing that with 3rd party software is fairly complicated which is why I think so far only commercial products are available.
You can of course copy fonts from desktop windows to the windows folder on the device (don't forget to reset it afterwards) but you will see everything backwards.
If you are using English ROM, but want to support Simple Chinese,Tradition Chinese,Japanese,Korean
just install it:http://www.wpxap.com/thread-5168-1-1.html
http://www.wpxap.com/thread-5168-1-1.html
downloaded, installed on my old ipaq hw6965 that i'm giving to my brother and it works perfectly! thanks!!!
I'm not that good with simplified chinese.
Basically I went to that website and I'm having trouble understanding how the program works.
Does it just read? or will I be able to type in Chinese as well?
And what is the method for typing Chinese? Will I be able to use pingyin format to type Chinese (I'm not savvy on chajei, or any other formats)?
What is the difference between this and CE-Star??
This is just the font to display (but not input!) asian characters. If you only need specific languages you can install other specific fonts.
For input, you need to install an IME (input method editor). For Chinese, CE Star is a good start which has handwriting support. But there are lots of IMEs (with pinyin, etc); a little searching on the forum should turn up plenty of results.
any help ? what about keyboard?
i found this software http://www.shapewriter.com/andbeta/index.html
any help to write arabic or at least arabic support?

It's sad because the fonts apparently supports it. At least they support chinese as some of my contact have chinese name and they appear properly in the text editor.
What's really missing is the IME or a virtual keyboard

Not that sad, geez, the phone is a month old...

It's sad when a product is restricted to iso-latin. Even if the product was not intended for outside of the US market a good chunk of the population in the US speak and use a second language on a daily basis. Whether it's Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian or something else.
I18N is a pain, and managing different IME is another bigger one so I understand why it was postponed to a future date.
so no chance for arabic support till now
heeeeeeellllllllpppppp
somebody should help us (Arabic language speakers) to fix this G1 phone Arabic support issue ,,, when I read the roadmap and did not find any plans to support Arabic, i felt disappointed...
I can't read any Arabic text msg's nor the g1 browser is supporting arabic websites ,,
please somebody should deal with this issue seriously
Cheers and thanks,

this is only a half solution for the problem ... haven't tested it yet

For Arabic support: http://www.2shared.com/file/4721532/c336ef8d/update.html
It's JF1.4 (RC30) with arial as the fallback font. You can read arabic msgs and websites but no writing yet.
Same goes for everyone else: If you need your native alphabet, just replace DroidSansFallback.ttf with whatever font that supports your language.
are the letters connected too?
looks like someone made it already.. but i hope that we will be able to get it free, as it is with everything "OPEN source"

bonsoir,
you can use ColorDict which is available freely from the market, it's supports Wordnet, StarDict dictionaries which are also available freeley from the web. You can learn about it here
http://socialnmobile.blogspot.com/2009/06/android-app-color-dict-stardict.html
there you can find instructions about where you can find dictionaries and how to install them. I've downloaded some french dictionaries and the app is working beatifully
