Yes, Linux has been ported to the PSP : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSXaoWsDNYI
Not much you can do with it though, and I really doubt you'll ever see android or any kind of GUI.

The Apple iphone-New files for our wizards

is it possible to dump the iphone OS for our wizards?
can you dump mac software on a pc and have it work? -- answer to your question and mine is no.
but we can create similar software -- search for "iContacts" and "TouchFlo" in this forum.
I love the htc touch
I dont want the whole OS on my wizard. I would like to try the Safari browser.
OMG .. you seriously asked ..
You're Damn Right I Ask!
Thats how we learn, we read and we ask questions that we dont have a answer to, yet. A lot of people are scared to ask questions on this forum, but not me buddy. Now stick to the question, can we extract some files from the iphone such as the Safari browser and put them on our wizards?
nope, sorry you cant, the system is totally different.

Wow man, that post helped me so much! I think that many other people will agree that that is totally on topic and is giving out a lot of information.
(Can the crap, why is there need for such useless posts?)
Flames...
Don't embarass those who are willing to ask a simple question that only requires a simple answer. If argue about it, argue about it simply, not obnoxiously. Giving our cackles and asking if this person is serious is pretty much lame in the case of forums.
Be polite... I like XDA Developers 'cause we're all polite here...

Well don't you realize that if we can't even fully port TouchFlo's finger gestures to devices such as the Hermes yet that it would be similarly not possible to port Safari, and/or the iPhone OS?
Why do you want Safari in Windows Mobile?
Its a good question actually - as far as I recall the iPhone is based on an Xscale core. Most WM devices are based on similar xscale cpu's so *if* the iphone was running Windows Mobile of some sort yes by all means rip away and run on your device. However since it runs OSX 'mobile' it would be like trying to get your fridge software to run on your tv - no go in any environment. On top of that I don't think you can even get to the system files to copy anything from the system?!
The one way to *possibly* do it is to join the Linux dev project for your phone and then try getting a Linux version of Safari running on your mobile..

You've got a point there. What I think he REALLY wants is the "turn the phone sideways and the phone goes into landscape" feature. LOVE the phone in your signature!

sidekick interface Question

dont kill me for asking.. but i have been seeing a lot of roms with manila screen on it(i think thats what you call it). while that is very cool and fast to use, i cant help but wonder about i someone would be able to copy the sidekick interface. i'm not just talking about an app to make it look like it but an actual rom. i think it be really cool since we have the side scroll bar also. i dont know how to make roms. hope a dev will be reading this and take it in consideration
Let me ask you this....
can you run ps3 games on a Xbox? No....incompatible software and hardware.
i think i shall start new thread in the kaiser rom development forum on "How to sync Kaiser with PS3"
i believe you can connect tilt to ps3 and share media lol. i bet we could be using our kaisers as ps3 controllers within a week

very funny.. lets do it this way, we got the android working on kaiser, immitated the storm, made it look like the iphone without the hardware question being the problem. its not a stupid question its just who will write the coding. android has been working(though unstable) rerouting the buttons also. and im not asking if the sidekick os can be dumped and rebuild, its a matter of is there someone out there smart enough to write it from nothing. seen a lot of crazy things been done to our phone. this would be a brand new step.

Your thought is innovative but if u see the hardware will not be able to support the side kick side pane and a lot of process is involved in makin the android run on the kaiser to name a few we need to port , make the boot runner compatiable with it ..
So bear with it...

question about making an android app (soundboard)...

So, I am interested in making a soundboard for the movie super troopers... Just curious if anyone has any experience making soundboards? Or, would I be better off pulliing a soundboard apk from my phone and just swap out the sounds I want? If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it, thanks!
I don't have any soundboard experience...
But just taking an apk and replacing sounds is definitely not something someone should suggest.. Pulling OS information and cooking roms is a little different than taking an app and releasing a dev's work with different .wmv's, that's a little thing called plagiarism..
But if you ask the dev prior to that, I guess it would be ok.. You just need his source..
*edit
look what google found me...

Not advanced at all. There's a reason there are so many soundboard apps on the market. It's just about the easiest, most no-brainer app you can write that actually does anything. Even if you've never even written a basic "Hello World" app, it shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 hours running through the tutorials on the android sdk site to be able to whip up a soundboard.

Hmmm. Maybe THAT'S the problem....all those soundboard makers heard that they were no-brainers to make, and decided not to turn on their noodles before creating and releasing their monstrosities upon the world. (not meant as a dig @ OP)

Well its usually for people that want experience in coding apps, and haven't been through A+ Cert or the like, and want to learn...
But thanks for generalizing...

Oh, I don't think he meant anything derogatory by it. I've been writing code for 20+ years, but I'm still doing a couple crazy simple Android apps just to get myself familiar with the new platform.
There's nothing wrong with writing simple apps as a learning experience. Even experienced coders have to do it from time to time when learning a new language or new platform.
The only part that's a little ridiculous is posting these "Java 101 homework assignments" on the market. Does the world *really* need 5 dozen collections of SpongeBob sound clips?
(No offense intended to anybody, but people should maintain a sense of reality about how appealing their app really is to the general public... I think it's awesome when people post things like this with source code and complete Eclipse project files so that other people can use them as a learning tool, I just question whether simple stuff like this really belongs on the market as a "product". It tends to clutter up my search results when I'm looking for useful stuff....)

What he said! Wasn't making fun of anyone wanting to learn or anything like that a all. Hell, I'm working my way through the "how to make a calculator" guide, myself, lol! I know jack about coding! I was more referring to the fact that some of these guys don't seem to ask themselves weather or not the world really needs "Rosie O'donnel: Bathroom Sounds v.17" before they slap it in the market. I tried to be clear that I wasn't picking on the OP, guess I could have been more explicit? Sorry if there was confusion.
I havent taken any offense here... some soundboards are retarded, and I will be the first to agree... I am just shocked that, with the amount of 1 liners in the movie super troopers, there arent any soundboards for it... (of course, I may be biased, as some people may think this movie was stupid, but I loved it lol)... I have no programming experience, only video/audio editing experience... I found the link "azyouthinkeyeiz" maybe 20 minutes before he replied to this thread, and am trying that tutorial... I am definently looking forward to learning more, and if anyone out there has any websites they can suggest for learning programming, I am more than down to learn!

Nokia E72...?

Hey people ...
I have Galaxy S2 and a Nokia E72 ... Android kills Symbian!
The E72 is an awesome phone, but it's limited by the outdated Symbian OS. Does anyone know of an alternative OS which can run on an E72?
I'm sure, somewhere, someone's hacked one to do something special!
Let me know please,
Thanks
yaaa... me too wishes the same...... Please some experts think in this line and let us have something new.... Thanking you in advance

I wish there is I love this phone:crying:
Honestly, I've been searching for information on how to create an operating system for the E72, but I don't know where to start. I've been developing for x86 my whole life and have little to no experience with other architectures.
I'd love to be able to hack together a Linux kernel for this device and build something on top of it, something really simple and lightweight.
Is there anyone else that would like to lend a hand? Or anyone that can point me in the right direction?
I wish I could man, what you're talking about sounds awesome! Hopefully this reply will give the threat a bump and the man (or woman) will see!
my e72 also wish it

[Q] Starting point for new devs?

Hi All,
I hope I have posted this in the correct area, I have been thinking about where to post it for ages lol
First up I wanted to say hi and intro myself a little
like alot I work in IT. In short I do alot of design for Citrix &Vmware virtual systems. Over the last 15 years in IT I have worked as a database admin under HP, SUN & SCO unix systems. So I have a fairly good base for IT in general and unix/linux systems.
Why the message? I need help
I want to learn how to create my own roms \ firmwares. Mainly for my Galaxy s and a tablet called a "Dropad A8X" tablet.
Mainly for the Tab
My problem is I don't know where to start nor where to read. Even a place to read or what to read up on to get me started.
Being cert'd in Vmware I have a linux VM box running ubuntu for a dev environment, but I am mainly running Windows 7.
Any chance you can point me in the right direction? I believe the A8X would be awesome with 2.3 installed or maybe see if 3 could be done.
Thanks in advance
