I have been searching for this for a while but am unable to find it thus far. Is there an app that disables the screen rotation except for when the keyboard is out? It would be much appreciated

Agreed. I had it on the old ROM. but since "upgrading" to 6.5 it seems to have disappeared.
I'm actually thinking about going back to 6.1 with touch flo.

Might be an idea to say this in the S2U2 development thread...
Check in the config program (S2U2Settings) whether "Hide all Soft Keys" under Appearance is on. If it is, turn it off.
that was it exactly, thanks so much for your help

Good.
Glad it worked.
Just wondering if anyone has encoutered a problem with the screen turning itself off. It is not a settings issue but the screen randomly turns itself off in the middle of being used so i am guessing it mght be something to do with the light sensor perhaps?
Well if anyone else has the same problem or can offer some sort of explanation i would be very interested to hear about it.
Thanks in advance
i think this might be related to autolock. if you have that enabled, disable the screen dimming and let it turn off after say 2 minutes. then you should be ok.

I've had a similar issue recently - suddenly the screen started to switch off after 30 seconds without use, no matter what settings I configured in the energy system settings. No explanation, probably a bug in the 6.1 stock ROM. (I'm on another ROM now...)

Ditto.
Own ROM 6.1 (nothing special - really just Google maps and teeter removed)
Apps:
4 Column Start Menu.cab
FdcSoft TaskMgr 3.1.cab
GoogleMaps.CAB
GpsCycleComputer_3.114.CAB
htcAddicts cleanRAM v1.6.cab
MobileTweet.CAB
NETCFv35.cab
NetworkPlugin_1_0_30468_1.CAB
PocketShield.CAB
rar.ppc_arm.cab
SoftReset_Suspend.CAB
same here. tried some reg tweaks but none disabled poweroff after 30 seconds
it happens to me every time after i use igo8,
so my solution is to go to the MANILA power setting (not the default windows setting) and turn DIM off.
cannot find manila power settings. where are they?

i have Tom's 6.5 rom so when i goto regular settings it takes me to manila style setting & not the default one.
I have that problem to ?
I have a 6.1 windows, what can I do to deal with this problem ?
Thankx
in power settings enable & disable dim it will fix this but only till next time... i do it after every time i use igo8.
this is especially annoying when using the topaz as hard disk or navigating via tomtom. hope they will bring out a fix soon.
Think my problem was slightly similar as I was using the original shipped ROM. Well phone is with HTC now in for screen repair so hopefully the problem will be solved.
I'm guessing it was probably down to an install of some 3rd party application. anyway will repost after i get my td2 back tomorrow

well i cant be sure because i dont know the build, but it sounds like a problem with that build, go back to your old mod or another new one....if u just really want that mod, try reinstalling it just dont back up again keep the back up you already have

Hi,
It would be better to modify the orientation to portrait and then check the box above for "System Persistent". It will gray out the orientation but lock it to any orientation you selected. ADW will no longer auto-rotate, but most apps will still auto-rotate to landscape.
I’m sure it will solve the problem.
that too, good call

Hi,
First of all I just want to say thank you to all the good people at xda. I am very new to Android and I have found much more useful things on here than anywhere else.
I recently got a Milestone XT720. It was running on Dexters Froyo. It had a whole bunch of issues but most were fixed when I finally decided to try to flash a newer ROM (First time) and went with the CyanogenMod 6.3 RC3 thanks to a Tutorial from this forum.
The only issue that remains now is that whenever you press the power button to return from sleep to just check the time or notifications the music stutters for just a millisecond. And then does the same when going back to sleep again.
I have found that turning off the auto rotate screen option will stop the stutter but that's not really a solution as much as a bad compromise.
Does anyone else have the same issue? Could trying a different rom make a difference? I am really starting to warm up to the XT720 and would really appreciate if someone could help out with this!
Oh and possibly worth the mention is that I flashed the cyanogenmod over Dexters and did not go back to stock in between. I have also tried the supercharger script on aggressive without any luck.
Thanks all!

Music pause is common problem on our devices. AFAIK turning off the auto-rotation sensor is the only solution. I have tried several ROMS but it happens with all of them.
Hello, i am on cm 10.1 on a razr xt925
And i want to stop the lockscreen from auto rotating.
I have auto rotate checked under display so that i am able to rotate screen when i am on the browser and on facebook and stuff.
But the lockscreen rotates aswell, i want it to stop. The lockscreen always gets all crazy when unlocking when i have my phone tilted to its side or laydled flat.
Its really annoying and it takes me longer to unlock the phone.
I read somewhere that there is an app for this. But i would like to avoid this since i read that it is ram hungry and i would have to set it on boot every time.
I was thinking maybe editing something inside build prop.
I tried one code and wasnt able to get it working.
I want to force stop the lockscreen rotation, while maintaining rotation everywhere else.
Anybody know how i can achive this?
Thanks in advance.
Btw cm10.1 is great.
Bugs are still present but they are getting fixed. Just saying if anybody wants to try it out.

Sorry! I just had a quick look on your question..
I'll try to figure it out because I have CM10.1 on older phone and I never noticed lock screen rotation anoyance..
For now try this:
Menu -> Settings -> CyanogenMod settings -> Display -> Rotate 180 degrees - This will disable the "upside-down" rotation
