also: kinda solved. They're black marks and no scratches. Will try to get them away with some alcohol soon.

Hello,
I always use the original Android sleeve with my Nexus One. I have it in it in my pocket around 10 hours a day when working. (with the Trackball on the open side of the sleeve and the display to the "Droid" side)
A week ago (got it since 15th Jan) I noticed some "scratches" at the top on my N1.
Here's a crappy picture shot with a crappy cam.
Will do a better pic tomorrow but I think you can guess what I mean
###################
I stick the phone into the sleeve just as you described and haven't noticed any kind of scratches on the top. I've had it since Feb 18th.

The Pouch looks of decent quality to me aswell
I'm using it because I thought the quality is just great!
Well, it still is great but the scratches annoy the hell outta me..
noticed it a week ago and it wasn't that much as today :\
Maybe it does "rub" it off with some dust and much moving? I'm always going around and anything @ work, much movement in my pockets ^^
I think the scratches coz' by rubbing on the wall or something else, not by the pouch. I'm getting a case from case-mate though I like the pouch a lot but it's quite annoying sometimes.
what do you mean with wall?
I mean some rough surfaces
Its because the seams are on the inside, including the stitches. Those WILL rub on your phone and cause scratches if the phone moves around inside, even a little.

Really? Cuz my phone's in the sleeve for probably 14 hours a day and is still flawless. Obviously you didn't look at the pic, cuz the scuffs are at the top that is exposed while in the sleeve. I'm betting the OP puts other stuff in that pocket with the phone... bad idea.
same here, I use the sleeve constantly and have no scratches...did you get dirt or something in your pouch?
Use the sleeve a lot and have no scratches or marks on the N1.
I don't see the N1 as being like an iPhone. For me the side and back is durable and I am not worried about scratches - only the screen concerns me which is why I have a screen protector...
Talking about how phones are made I have to say I think the HD2 is the most durable phone right now with quality and style. The top and sides are almost rubbery so quite resistant to scractches and the back is metal -which although not scratch proof is most definately very resistant to any wear.

Keep your case clean, I have experienced no such problems and I make it a point to keep the inside of the case clean for obvious reasons.
When cleaning the case, I turn the whole thing inside out, shake it out and vacuum it.
Edit: One thing I have noticed is that the phone is prone to marks/scratches quite easily when dropped or bumped into something, as opposed to normal wear and tear (in and out of pocket/case, rubbing against keys etc). I am not really surprised by this, just figured I would note it.
Mintyfloss is right, that's causing it and I were about to write it right now since I Googled the translation just before reading that post I'm not having anything else in my pocket!
How to avoid these "scratches"? Will put the phone with the bottom first in the sleeve now..
Edit: didn't see the second site until now
I also never ever dropped the phone.
cleaned the sleeve yesterday inside out, hope it helps..
Another edit, not sure if needed: I have the phone and. The sleeve upside down in my pocket

Yea, the sleeve can't scratch the Teflon coated phone, it just marks it. I have heard in this forums that you can get away the marks with a little bit of alcohol and a handkerchief.
Hope this helps...
I thought I had a little bit of scratching in the same area, luckily it rubbed off

You know I'm not talking about the DISPLAY!?
Okay, new pictures.
this is how I put the Nexus One into the sleeve
this is a pic of the "scratch"
this and this too but another view
thanks for your answers
Actually, to be honest, I'm having the same thing happen with my phone. I put my phone in the the other way than you and I have those marks on the bottom. Although it doesn't really look or feel like scratches. Just looks like little black marks on it and could come off if you rubbed it with alcohol or something.

i have been reading on this forum and it seems to have been messing up a lot of people's nexus ones. i have ordered mine last week n should come in any day now. im just wondering if this is really true or if it just happened to a few unfortunate people....i dont wanna mess up my nexus one cuz its rooted so that means no warranty
how does it mess it up?
Yeah, I'm wondering that too. I lurk the forums every day and I don't remember reading anything like that.
could he be talking about the teflon coating peeling off if you peel off hte invisiblesheld?
Personaly i didn't like invisible shield had it on my hero but the color didn't come off when i take it off.
anyways like to see pictures from people who had this.
I was just about to go get this today...
I've got the full body and hasn't messed up mine. I like quite a bit. The pieces aren't cut the greatest to cover the device completely though.
For me it didn't mess it up, just looked like CRAP.
I've used them on other devices and they've looked fine, I think the N1 screen is just too good.
I peeled it off 3 days after putting it on.
All i have is the screen protector but i haven't had any problems with it. Color is fine and no peeling
I have the full body skin. The skin got a dent so I went back for the free replacement. Pulled the old one off with no problems or issues. Not messed up for me.
I have tried the invisibleshield, the bodyguardz and www.bestskinsever.com and I have to say bestskinsever ain't lying. They go on the easiest, stay on the longest without peeling and don't change colors. The invisbleshield was the worst. I always had the edges peel up or not lay right and after a while it started to change color. (the skin-not the phone) It would turn a brownish color. bestskinsever are the cheapest also at only $8 for the full body + S&H. It doesn't come with solution or a squeegee like the others do but it comes with directions and it has been the best skin for me. I have it on my N1 and my ipod touch.
bestskinsever...cut me a check biotches! lol
I've had the invisibleshield on mine for awhile now and it still looks great. No problems at all.
Maybe putting too much of the solution gets into the cracks of the nexus causing water damage?
I only have a screen protector it it works and looks fine. I carefully wiped up the excess solution with a cloth.
Water DMG
well 2nd day i got my nexus i put it on, it looks great unless in the sun. got water in the cracks and the touch screen response is pretty bad.
and i dont know if i can it replaced?? its rooted so yeah....

IE: Don't do it like this guy and you'll be fine....
I've put BSE's on many devices, you don't put the skin on wet, you shake the heck out of it THEN put it on.. It's just damp, just enough to move around. If it takes more than a few minutes for it to stick down on the flat surfaces, it was too wet.

Water Damage
I was having a lot of trouble a while back with my trackball not working. Long story short- I got soaked in a storm with the nexus in my pocket, like uber-soaked. My trackball wasn't working, so I figured it must be water damage. Btw, the nexus was very wet in my pocket, like fureal. My touchscreen was fine. To make the trackball work, I took a towel and put it on the trackball and rolled it around, and then also did the same while actually pushing down on the trackball. I did this for a couple of minutes, and then it was back to normal. I really don't think invisible shield solution will damage your phone that much. Just be careful with it, and it should be fine. While putting it on, keep a towel with you and wipe access. Don't worry too much.
Desktop Dock Issues
I put the invisibleshield on my Nexus One basically immediately after I purchased the phone in January. As far as the phone goes, I saw no problems whatsoever, but when I purchased the Desktop dock, I found that the invisibleshield changed the dimensions of the phone just enough to prevent the contacts on the phone from aligning with the contact on the dock, so I had to peel it off.
Not sure if that has anything to do with the problems posted, but that's just what I found.

I have a BSE skin on mine..I don't have to Desktop Dock but I have to Cardock and it fits in perfectly with the skin on it. I've had Invisibleshield and BodyGuardz on my Nexus and BSE is by far the best skin I've put on my phone.

I love BSE's, I have 'em on everything... except my Nexus. I guess I'm just paranoid.. While the BSE's have several times for me in the past prevented scratches from minor drops on various MP3's or phones, I think (hope!) my Boxwave Crystal Pure Slip case would protect a bit more by giving some cushion to the device if it does fall.
Even that said, I'm still debating on getting a BSE for the N1. When done carefully, they look great and if kept clean, keep a nice grip and stick nicely to things like a pant leg in the car or such, vs sliding around and winding up in the back seat like my N1 did several times when I first got it
Like most of us that keep no cover on our phone, my battery plate was all scratched to heck. I saw the other "mirror polish" mod and it looked great, but also looked like a lot of work and would get scratched again. I bought a can of rubberized spray (see pic) and wound up with a great result (see pic.) The only color Home Depot had was black, and I think a gray might have looked better, but I still like the results and the phone is less slippery now than with the metal cover. This took 3 coats (30 minutes drying time between coats) then I let it dry for 18 hours before using it. Turned out pretty good, but long-term results are TBD...
I like did u just spray the back part? Any trouble with fitting it afterwards as it must add a layer of bulk?

It added less bulk than I thought it would, it's really not much at all and it fits just fine afterwards. Actually, before, it would slide like a little when locked in place (just enough to notice - probably like .1 mm or so.) Now it is snug and has no jiggle at all.
I forgot to mention the hard part (prepping it...) Removing the original clear plastic coating was the hardest part - a combination of a dremel with the little wire wheel tool and my fingernail took about an hour, then I just hit it with some 220 grit sandpaper and cleaned it with mineral spirits.
I use the same stuff on my car (mid level 2009 Lancer but use the Plasti-dip to black out the front to make it look like an Evo [car guys will understand =p]) Very durable though I have not used it on my DZ yet. You beat me to the punch! I want to do the HTC part in red and the rest in black, will post when I have the time to do it.
Looks sharp though, contrast is nice
Doh! After only 1 day, I caught something on the curved edge and it started lifting the plastic coating... not very durable for this use - I might try again later though and see if I can come up with a better method.

I like it! A little bit rougher texture, but you might try Duplicolor spray on bedliner.
I thought about taking my phone apart and using some white plastidip to change it white...
Durability is alright...on thinkpad forums, a couple of people mixed it with some black enamel paint which made it much more durable.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the battery door wiggle room! No one ever mentions it. I really hope you find some way of preventing it from peeling. I'm practically drooling over those pictures you took. It looks extremely professional compared to most mods I've seen. You could easily set up a service where people send you their doors, some cash, and a self address envelope if you wanted to make some extra bucks.

I've been meaning to update this. I tried again - this time I sanded with 220 grit, used a "self-etching primer" on the cover, then the rubberized paint. This time it lasted 3 days before starting to peel off... I'm also able to scratch off the primer with my fingernails, so the primer didn't really help. I'm not sure what else to try to make this coating stick at this point.

Powder coating would be nice, but I don't have the equipment for that (and don't want to invest in it just for this.) Also, this cover has plastic tabs that I'd be worried about melting or detaching from the battery cover during the curing process.
Buyer beware, I have two XZs and obviously given the cost I take care of them. I have noticed however lots of scratches on the back side from simply placing the phone down gently. I guess in 6 months, I can expect the back side to be covered in scratches!
For those not using a cover, give yours a look and see what I'm talking about ... scratches, scratches, scratches everywhere!!
how long have you been use the phone?
Mine Is just fine and I have used it in the army for a month at least without a case...
My question is Why would you buy 2 XZ's together !!!!????
Have had mine for nearly 6 weeks now, without any case and the phone at this point doesn't have a single scratch. Long may it continue.

Glad to hear you all have had better luck than me .. I bought 2 phones because I received a 2 for 1 offer, so needless to say I grabbed a black and platinum model. The black by far is showing more scratches, and again this is just by setting it down on tables, nothing harsh. Let's see if others weigh in .. I think others are seeing what I'm seeing ... it's riduculous because my Z5 after a whole year of use has zero scratches, and my XZ after only one month looks as if I ran my key across it repeatedly!

I don't have any scratches but I dropped my phone on Tarmac a few weeks ago so I do have 3-4 dents.
You can always get the back replaced from a Sony Service Center or an aftermarket product very easily if it bothers you too much.
pic or it didnt happened you have 2 xz right? the other one can take photos i guess
I also got tiny scratches here and there on the back of my XZ, seems it is easy to get scratched by little pieces of sand or debris on hard surface, I got mine scratched on a glass table.
However the oily fingerprints you leave on the back will cover up the scratches so it only become apparent when you clean your phone.

That's exactly right, my point was that the back surface definately scratches easily .. I didn't run my phone across a gravel road, but I do set it down on glass often (gently). Wish the back cover was more like that of the Z5 .. my gold Z5 doesn't have a single blemish anywhere! ohh well. Here 's a picture for those who don't believe me .. not sure why I'd lie, but here you.
The back is what, painted metal? Of course it will be scratchable, and more so than the glass. Anything harder than the phone surface will scratch it. Sand will scratch almost anything, that is probably why sand paper is so useful.
That said, mine has held up pretty well. I have one very fine scratch on the back that is barely noticeable. Nothing like your photo. In fact, it might even buff out. The XZ is certainly as durable as expected. I don't baby it, but I am not careless.
This phone (like most) looks too good to stick it in an ugly case, plus it is already almost too big for my pockets without a case. However, if you are clumsy, have dirty hands, have sandy pockets, or keep your phone in a purse full of coins and keys then you should probably get a case.
So... Noticed the other day that each corner both on the bottom and top is really sharp. If I drag my fingers over it feels really rough. But on the middle top, sides and bottom its flat and smooth.
So the plastic frame between the metal and glass are uneven on the corners I thought.
So I sendt it in to repair since I thought this couldn't be right just to get the feedback it is normal...
So my question to other owners out there.
Are your corners sharp as well?
Could this be the screen protector that the phone comes with. Its applied very effectively so that you might not notice it.

Forgot to mention that. No. It's taken off ?
Every Google search I found said that
Mine has no sharps. But sharpness is in the eye of the beholder. Put a protective bumper case on it ! I found this to be a "must" because ( for me ) the stupid thing was always slipping out of my pocket.

I get that. I also got a case for it. But I am afraid dirt and debree gets in the easier because of it.
It could be a problem if your job exposes you and your phone to grit... I would still say 'install a protector' but then be on a regular schedule to pop it off and rinse it off. They pop off pretty easy, right ?

I know what you're talking about OP, and I noticed it the first day I had my op6.
Sharp probably isn't the word you're looking for to accurately describe the issue which is why most people are saying no. But there is a very rough transition between the frame and the glass. It is normal on the two op6 I have used

Appreciated for the confirm. It's a shame though
Each corner the plastic rim is slightly raised above the glass so that it might prevent direct impact to the fornt glass in case it falls.
I also noticed it the first day that I bought it and maybe it's just me but I feel the "sharpness" in every point of the border.
It was annoying to use the phone because the way I usually hold it my finger lays on the border and it hurt a bit, luckily with a case you don't feel it anymore.
Maybe reading these post about the problem made me think too much about it, because I just checked and it seems even a bit worse so now I don't know if I should contact OP or not
I've had my phone in the carbon case since day one, took the case off to clean it the other night and felt the "sharp" edges and wondered if I had either bent the frame or if the case had compressed the glass. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this, as I didn't notice it in the few minutes of having my phone naked at launch.

I was actually surprised how easy the screen has gotten a ton of small little scratches, suppose its my fault for hating screen protectors and cases, finally started using Whitestonedome screen protectors and currently using the latercase.
Surprisingly the back of my phone still looks brand new
Mine is good so far. It comes out of the case every other day and it and the case get a wipe down with a damp cloth. Then dried with a microfiber cloth before going back in the case.
If you leave the phone in the case for long periods of time, abrasive particles will get in between the phone and case and the damage begins.
Mine is doing great. I treat it like my car; I use it as designed, clean it occasionally, and do a little maintenance every so often.

Put an Otterbox on the device right away but not a screen protector. The screen is extremely prone to micro scratches which can only be seen when screen is off, or with very low backlight and dark image (I've had the device a month an already some prominent micro scratches) . Awaiting screen protectors in the mail. This is a bummer as previous versions of gorilla glass stood up better to micro scratches (never had nearly the micro scratches on my S20 which I ran for 2 years without screen protection) . Pay off I guess for having better shatter protection.
Iv been running case with a naked screen ever since I realized that every protector ive tried affects either swipe typing and more so Spen responsiveness. Thank God tmobile allows you to add insurance to phones they offer regardless if it's bought from them or 3rd parties. The phone is just way to smooth for any obstructions for me.
